It’s getting scary out there with the Covid cases. If you are an essential worker, please know you are so appreciated! Prince Clayton will turn four on Tuesday. I cannot belive it! The Ho-Ho-Ho Readathon begins Thursday, and I am trying to get tasks done so I can escape into some wonderful books. I got everything but the fresh supplies for Thanksgiving. It will just be our household, but we are ready. Be safe, be kind, and Stay Caffeinated.

Years ago I worked in a grocery store. I REFUSE to go to the grocery store the Saturday to Wednesday before Thanksgiving. We picked up the non-fresh items this weekend as well. Hubby will run in and get the small list of items that we need.

I hope this week has been going well for you!!

Our Thanksgiving will be on Saturday since the Royals will be here Friday through Tuesday this week. They divide time between their Dad’s and here. We will order the fresh stuff for curbside pickup.

  2. Carla

Happy Birthday to Prince Clayton. My youngest grandson turns 2 on the 20th. You have so much going on in your life and on your blog. Have a great week Kimberly. I will send my link to my giveaway tomorrow.

  3. Tyler H. Jolley

Love the winter blog update, Kimba! Thanksgiving will be so different this year, that’s for sure. Glad you’re ahead of the game on the groceries!

    • Kimberly

We will have the Royals, and a new grandbaby. Thankfully, everyone works from home so we can be together. It will just be us, our own children and the Royals.

    • Kimberly

We go big for Thanksgiving, and I make everyone’s favorite sides, then for Christmas we grill surf and turf and I get to stay out of the kitchen.

  4. Lorna

Oh my goodness! He’s 4 already? Time does fly. We’re getting ready for a small Thanksgiving here but for only 3 people although some food will to my friends elderly parents. I won a paperback of Awakening about a month ago from GoodReads. I think I’m reading it this week sometime. Have a good reading week!

  5. Tressa @ Wishful Endings

It is crazy here too. My brother is a nurse and takes his turn on the COVID floor at his hospital. He has been begging people to keep their distance and wear masks. He’s so tired of seeing people struggle to live and to die alone. Plus there’s the stress of not bringing it home to his kids. I hope you have a good week and are ready for some good reading for your RAT! If I can get my work done early and can, I’ll join.

    • Kimberly

The healthcare workers have it so hard, as do essential employees. Our hospitals are struggling and it scares me.

  6. vidya

am going to check out the swoonies for more romance reads!! and we are winding down from celebrating Diwali right now and heading towards Thanksgiving next ourselves:)

  7. MarthaE

Looks like we will be staying home for Thanksgiving too.
I hope you get to enjoy your books.
    Happy Reading!

  8. Aj @ Read All The Things!

Congrats on getting your Thanksgiving stuff! I haven’t even thought about mine. I kind of just want to get BBQ from a restaurant and eat in front of the TV. I hope you have a great week!

    • Kimberly

Hehe… for Christmas we always grill surf and turf so I don’t spend my day in the kitchen. Thanksgiving, I make all the time-consuming favorites.

  9. Carole @ Carole's Random Life in Books

Yes, the virus is getting very scary. My office is tiny but the owner considers us “essential”. I am not sure that I agree but I have my own office so I feel pretty safe. I wish we could all just stay home for a couple of weeks to get things under control. Happy Birthday to your grandson! I hope you have a great week, Kimberly!

  10. Sophie

I pray that you all stay safe Kimberly! The cases are slowly reaching a plateau here after two weeks of lockdown but it remains so scary!
PS I too want the sequel of A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire

  11. Anne - Books of My Heart

I’m glad you have your family for te holiday. We aren’t doing much different. I talk to my daughter about what she will eat every week and plan around it. She is not a fan of turkey, cranberry, mashed potatoes or green bean casserole. She does like sweet potatoes and pie. Oh and for our family, my creamed corn has always been part of the menu and she likes it. I look forward to some of those holiday reads too. Have a wonderful week, and stay well!

Glad you’ve got your turkey dinner mostly secured. Same for us. Wishing Clayton a happy birthday. Looking forward to #HoHoHoRAT. Have a good week, Kimberly!

  13. Ruby Jo

    Happy 4th birthday!!!
I am so confused by the passing of time to be honest, it doesn’t even feel like it’s almost time for Christmas preparations to start. You’re also very right, Covid is getting damned scary, even more so than it was in the beginning of 2020. We were just put under stricter rules here in my Italian region, with talks of a full lockdown if people don’t start to comply and respect the rules. Hopefully this too shall pass soon.
Have a great week and good luck with your Thanksgiving preparations!

    • Kimberly

Be safe, Ruby. Hopefully, we see improvement soon. Yes, I cannot understand why some are in denial or are selfish.

    • Kimberly

Agreed. Although my neighbors had a huge football party last week, so I imagine it will be business as usual for some.

  14. Rachel

Covid has been getting scary! I don’t think the numbers have been that bad in our State compared to others, though. Oh, the Little Prince! Hope you have a fun celebration!

    Loved The Thursday Murder Club!

    • Kimberly

My daughter was working from home, but got offered a promotion that forced her back into the office. She is due to deliver her first in 3 weeks and the pay increase was the driving force. Today, they announced everyone will be working from home for the foreseeable future. I am happy; she is happy. When the baby comes, she will drive her each day and work in an upstairs bedroom. That way she can nurse the baby.

  15. Mareli @ Elza Reads

Hi there Kimberley! Hope you are doing well!

Enjoy the new read-a-thon that kicks off this week! I am going to keep my eye on it for a few fun Christmas season reads.

    Have a good week!

  16. Samantha

Happy birthday to Prince Clayton! And we are staying home for thanksgiving as well. Cases are on the rise all around us, including in our school building! It’s scary!
Thanks so much for sharing my post!

Yes, ours are usually small since our family live on the East coast. It will be us, the Royals who live her 50% of the week with their Mom, our son who lives here, and our daughter and boyfriend. They work from home like we do and live close by.

  17. A Voracious Reader

I cannot believe there are still COVID deniers out there. And what I really cannot believe are those who want herd immunity because they don’t think it’s worse than the flu. Grrrrr!

Happy Birthday Clayton!! Time flies doesn’t it? Kyleigh will be 7 in Feb, Boone will be 5 in March and little Oliver will be 1 in May (not so soon at least lol)

I have my turkey and fixins, but need to grab a few pies. Otherwise I’m ready for Thanksgiving. I need to get my Christmas shopping started so I can make sure stuff gets here in time. This year is almost over, thank goodness.

    • Kimberly

Right… they thought it would all go away Nov 4…god help us all. We ordered pies, which I will get when I pick up the celery, fresh veggies and wine.

  18. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Yeah our county is going back to restrictions like they did in March. I worry for all the restaurants that only just started to recover again from that fiasco. I get the restrictions, truly, but I still worry. My sister’s birthday is Tuesday too and I don’t know if we’ll try celebrating tomorrow since Tuesday is when everything shuts down again.

Nice new reads! Those are new to me ones. I hope you enjoy them both!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

    • Kimberly

Our restaurants did ok with shutdowns as most offered curbside pickup. We had Clayton’s birthday, but it was only immediately family.

  19. Lola

Happy birthday to Clayton. That’s neat you have everything except for the fresh supplies for thanksgiving already. I hope you’ll have a good week!

  20. sjhigbee

Four! And this week my youngest grandson celebrated his 11th birthday… Where does the time go?? Glad you have everything in for Thanksgiving. Now we’re in Lockdown, I have no idea what Christmas will be like. They are talking about easing it up at the start of December, but given that our infection rates are steadily rising, I’m not sure if they can afford to do so. Have a great week, Kimberly:)

    • Kimberly

We have no family here, but there will be no work parties, events, etc. So it will be low key. We are counting our blessings and enjoying each other.

  21. SJ

We stopped doing the huge family Thanksgiving a few years back. So this really isn’t a change for us, but I do feel bad for all the folks who can’t see their families due to this.

  22. Iza

The Covid cases seem to go down in France due to the lockdown, but I’m afraid I’m not optimistic, when will the next wave take place ?… Anyway, enjoy your grandson’s birthday and stay safe 🙂

  23. Bex

Happy Thanksgiving from the UK! I hope it is still a lovely one even of smaller numbers than usual. Covid is a very strange and scary time but we will make the best of it!!
I can’t wait to join along with your HohohoRAT its something fun to look forward to! Have a great week.
    Love Bex

    • Kimberly

I am excited for the thon too Bex! Our Thanksgiving is smaller since we have no family here. We plan to put the tree up and just enjoy the Royals.

  24. Chloe Thomas

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLAYTON (for Tuesday)!!
I hope you manage to get your tasks done ready for the read-a-thon. I also hope you enjoy the books that you pick up in the upcoming week. Good luck for the read-a-thon!

  25. Linda @ (un)Conventional Bookworms

I hope you’ll have a wonderful Thanksgiving even if it’s just going to be your household, Kim! Even as our circles kind of decrease in size these days so we can stay safe in our bubble, it’s important to be able to celebrate.
I already read Mistletoe in Paradise, and it’s such a cute story! I hope you’ll enjoy it too.
Have a wonderful week ahead, happy reading and listening. Stay safe and healthy, my friend. *hugs*

Happy birthday to Prince Clayton! I hope you all have a wonderful (and safe) celebration. That’s such a fun age!

The COVID numbers are really scary. Mr. Bookwyrm and I are not going anywhere if we can help it. We did our Thanksgiving shopping today, via curbside delivery. Everything I am cooking is either frozen or will keep until then.

I am looking forward to the HoHoHo RAT. I have at least one book lined up for it, and possibly more—if I can stay away from all my other new books for a week LOL!

Four already? I can remember seeing you sharing photos from when he was just born. Time flies like crazy!
    I’m super excited for HoHoHo!
Have a great week and enjoy the prince’s birthday ?

  28. Greg

Covid is getting scary for sure! Yikes it’s gonna be a bad winter, looks like.

Same here for Thanksgiving. And yay for the Ho3 readathon! I gotta scramble up some holiday books haha! I’m looking forward to what you thought of the Powell book.
