Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.  See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

We now know way to many people who were exposed or have/had Covid. Including our daughter, who went for testing Thursday. (no results yet) She has congestion/low grade fever and was exposed by a co-worker. My knee injury is swelling and I have taken to working on a lap desk to keep the darn thing elevated. (which is not as comfortable as it sounds) For some good news: My husband is back working from home and we got our Flu shots and mail in ballots. I had seven reviews to write this week and got them written. #FraterfestRAT begins Thursday. Be kind, be safe and …. Stay Caffeinated.

I saw in your comments to others that your daughter’s COVID test came back negative. I’m so glad to hear that. Yay on getting 7 books reviewed this past week too. That’s impressive!

  2. Jessica

These look like wonderful books and you have had such a full week!! I have been dealing with work and a sick kid all week so not as much fun.

  3. Tyler H. Jolley

Oh man, does that mean The Royals are with you and Mr. Caffeinated until your daughter’s test comes back? Hoping for a good outcome. Good job on getting your reviews written! I’ll look forward to following along on Thursday! Be well!

    • Kimberly

No… as our daughter lives with us, and they were with their Dad. However, good news..she is negative and is feeling better. So viral, but not covid. The kiddos will be back here on Wednesday.

  4. S. J. Pajonas

Oh no. I really hope your daughter is okay. I’ll be thinking of her and hoping the tests come back negative. Working on the couch with a lap desk is pretty much all I do! I had to give up all my writing/working spaces in the house to my husband and kids. Sigh.

Ha.. yes I guess you did. I am using a recliner and its working! Her test came back late today and it was negative. We are so glad. She has been fever free today, so it was probably viral.

  5. vidya

Hope you and your daughter feel better soon… We got our ballots by mail as well….
And 7 reviews is cool.. Inspires me to finish up my planned reviews as well

  6. bookworm

I hope your daughter feels better soon and that you’re feeling better also. It’s crazy times we are living in!
I have the perfect book ready for FraterFest 🙂 stay well this week.

  7. sherry fundin

i hope your daughter does okay with covid. i stay isolated and we have managed to not get it…yet, but mr wonderful was ‘forced’ to return to working at the office. it’s amazing how ridiculous things have gotten. the hurricane damaged the roof at his workplace. they removed ceiling tiles and when it rains, it rains indoors, but they still insist they come to work. what is this world coming to??

    • Kimberly

It was negative. Yippee. Yuck, my husband went back in September. He went in 3 days one week, and two the next, but with cases on the rise they are letting people choose.

  8. Erin Beard

Thoughts for your daughter! My son and husband have their flu shots done, my turn is tomorrow.

    The Absinthe Earl looks interesting!

    • Kimberly

Her test came back negative this afternoon. She is feeling tired but better and had no fever today, so it was something viral.

  9. ShootingStarsMag

Oh goodness, sorry so many people around you are getting sick or being exposed. I hope your daughter is okay!! Sorry about your knee too – that sounds rough.

I am excited for FraterFest though!!!

    • Kimberly

We found a solution. I am using a recliner with a laptop and swelling is down. My daughter’s test came back negative.

  10. MarthaE

Sorry to hear about your daughter. Hopefully, her symptoms will be mild.
I hope your knee recovers quickly too.
I’ve lined up a group of books for FraterFest. 🙂
Stay Safe and enjoy your reading!

    • Kimberly

Wahoo.. I am excited for the thon. While I have 2 more weeks in the brace, I now have a workable solution for my swelling. I am really hoping her test comes back negative so we can see the babies and she can recover.

  11. Tressa @ Wishful Endings

I’m so sorry about your daughter and your knee! It really is crazy because we’ve known people to have caught the virus at some point with no sickness and others who have caught it and been hospitalized and it doesn’t seem to matter what health you’re in or age. I hope she gets better quickly and you keep free and clear!! Happy listening this week!

I’m sorry to hear your daughter is sick. I pray whichever way her test comes back, she gets better soon. I hope your knee gets better soon, too. That sounds painful and frustrating. Thank goodness your husband is able to work from home (especially while you are laid up with that knee injury.) I got my flu shot this week, too. Mr. Bookwyrm still needs to get his.

I was sitting on the bed with a lap desk, but we’ve now set my office up with a recliner and large lap desk that rests on the arms of the chair. I am able to work and keep the leg elevated.

  13. Sophia Rose

Man, that stinks about your knee continuing to swell. Wishing your daughter well and glad your hubby is able to work from home.
Looks like some fun ones in your haul.
    Oh boy, Fraterfest already. 🙂

    Have a good week, Kimberly!

  14. Lorna

I’m sorry your knee has gotten worse. Could you have torn something? I work on my laptop on a lap desk as well. When my knees are swollen it hurts to rest it on your knee! Need to ice it to keep swelling down. I use frozen peas all the time and it usually helps. Sorry to hear about your daughter being exposed to covid. The test isn’t fun either. One of the ladies I live with brother in law just was diagnosed this week and her brother had it back in May I think. My nephew, his wife and two children all had it. All mild cases. Too many people are getting it still. I’m still scared.

    • Kimberly

It isn’t worse, in fact it is improving. They think I pulled or over extended the tendons so I am wearing a jointed knee brace which keeps the kneecap in place. The problem is that my work requires me to sit at a desk with a laptop for 8 hours. This is causing my knee, leg, ankle and foot to swell up. It looks like an elephant’s leg. Another 2 weeks in the brace and hopefully I will right as rain.

  15. Katherine

I’m sorry about your knee and to hear about your daughter’s exposure. Hopefully her test comes back negative though any chance of exposure is scary I know. We had our flu shots this week too! I was worried my arm would really hurt after but thankfully it wasn’t too bad. Hope this week has lots of healing and relaxing.

    • Kimberly

Yeah, I have learned to relax the arm when getting the flu shot after a few experiences with that sore arm for days!

  16. Sophie

I really hope your daughter will test back negative Kimberly and that your knee will soon get better! Have a good week! PS I am impressed that you wrote seven reviews!!!!

    • Kimberly

Hopefully, in 2 weeks I can take off the brace and begin working with the knee again. It does feel like it is healing on its own. When I take brace off to shower, it feels stronger. Fingers-crossed.

  17. Mary

I found out my uncle had Covid a month or so ago. Was laid up for a few weeks but okay now, thankfully. Hope your daughter’s test comes back negative (or if it is positive that this virus really is the “get it once and your done” variety). Have a good week.

  18. A Voracious Reader

Oh no! I hope your daughter gets well quickly and that it’s a negative result. Darn your knee! I need to wing some seriously super-charged {{{posivibes}}} to you ASAP. Woot on the reviews! I still have 1 to write and I’m going to DNF a book so I’ll have another to write, too. On top of that I have 2 tours books I need to finish. But I’ll get them done this week. I hope you have a good week, Kim.

  19. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Eek. That’s scary! To think I was just thinking I know so many people who are having a baby in March! This sounds a little scarier and less happy. Hope your daughter feels better soon and that she just has a cold!

Nice new reads too! These are new to me ones, but I hope you enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

Hope your daughter gets better soon! I don’t know many people with or who have had Covid. I did have one friend who got it and is over it now over it so hope it’s speedy recover for her as well. Hope your knee gets better!

Have a great week and happy reading!

I hope you all stay safe and feel better soon. I see a couple audiobooks I’m interested in – I look forward to your reviews.

We FINALLY have a mask mandate locally for all indoor activity, and it goes until after Thanksgiving. However, they don’t enforce it -so going to say a gas station store is risky, but most folks will put a mask on to food shop. We mask up and have since it happened. We are limiting our chance of exposure and 98% of the time stay home.

    • Kimberly

Yeah, during the first half of the year, I didn’t know anyone whether casually or personally who had it. Now it seems people we know are testing positive as places reopen.

  22. Lola

Sorry to hear you know so many people who got exposed to covid. I hope your daughter is doing well, that’s sad she got exposed by a co-worker. Sorry to hear about your knee and that sounds difficult to work with a lap desk just to get your knee elevated. I hope it’s doing better soon. That’s good news you got your flu shots and your husband is back to working form home, less risk of him getting the virus that way. I hope you have a good week!

  23. Carole @ Carole's Random Life in Books

It does seem like more and more people are getting exposed. My sister had to be tested because she was exposed at her job as well. I hope your knee starts feeling better! We plan to go to the polls but I am really happy that so many people are excited about voting again. Enjoy all of your new reads and have a great week!

    • Kimberly

We’ve always gone to the polls, but when they sent form, we decided to do mail-in but drop it at the county election site drop-off box ourselves. We were worried and still are about exposure.

  24. Vi @Inkvotary

I am sorry to hear that your knee is still not well. Hope that will heal soon. And I hope that your daughters test will be negative. Not sure if nowadays it is better to be able to say that “I had it” or that we can say “I am negative”. One thing is for sure, you were way more productive than me *smile* Stay caffeinated and my best wishes to you and your family!

    • Kimberly

Thanks Vi, they said 4 weeks, so we are on track. It just seems that normal sitting at my desk makes the knee and ankle of that leg blow up like a balloon. So I have had to get creative. So right about the Covid.

  25. sjhigbee

Oh no:((. I’m so sorry… I hope your daughter is okay and that your knee starts to recover – it’s a miserable injury. Fervently hoping the coming week is a lot kinder, Kimberly!

    • Kimberly

Yes. I tore my ACL in the early 2000s (other knee) and while painful, this injury isn’t quite as bad. It’s been 2 weeks and I am seeing improvement, so I don’t think I tore anything just overextended the tendons.

  26. Jen at Introverted Reader

I hope your daughter’s test comes back negative! And your knee feels better.

We mailed our absentee ballots in on September 24 and they were received at our home county’s election office on October 5. I guess 11 days isn’t terrible but when my mom sends me a card or something, it only takes 4 or 5 days to get here. They haven’t even been processed yet. I’m just glad that North Carolina had a ballot tracking system in place this year. It’s pretty interesting to see the progress and makes me feel better about my vote being counted.

Enjoy your week and take care!

    • Kimberly

We are going to drop them off at the election center. We’ve always voted in person, so the process is new to us.

  27. Rachel

I hope your daughter tests negative. My daughter felt nauseous and so went and got tested and came back negative. Thank goodness. I will be getting my flu shot this week. Not excited about that but I know the shot is better than the actual flu. Stay safe and happy reading, Kimberly! 🙂

    • Kimberly

We do too, it’s hard because she is living in the basement and the Royals are at their Dad’s until we get it sorted.

  28. Greg

Oh no, I hope your daughter comes back negative. And if she doesn’t I’ll be praying for her to have a mild course. Hang in there! Hoping your knee is better soon as well.

    Fraterfest sounds fun…
