Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.  See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

The Royals are here again for the weekend and we’ve kept busy baking cookies, playing games and what not. I’ve been reading the same book for a week. Not because it isn’t interesting but because I find unless I am listening to an audio or watching a movie I can’t seem to focus. I am trying to limit the news I watch. I watched Enola Holmes on Netflix and enjoyed it. Have you seen it? Anyone else wanting 2020 to be over? LOL I hope you week was a good one and that you’ve read something delightful! Stay Caffeinated.

I had my granddaughter over this past weekend and we did the same. Playing, reading, baking, going to the park etc. I watched Enola Holmes this past week and loved it. I hope they make more of them.

  2. ShootingStarsMag

Ooh you have the second Hell’s Library book. I just read the first and it was SO GOOD. I’m ready for this year to be over with too, and hopefully 2021 will be (somewhat) better. I’ve found myself reading slower these days too. I’m hoping October will pick up as I want to read all the fun spooky books.

I just loved The Midnight Library, it was a very uplifting read. Planning to watch Elona soon, I loved the preview clip that I saw.

  4. Tyler H. Jolley

Twenty-twenty has been a bear. I’m ready for it to be over, but I also don’t want to wish time away. I’m really excited for Halloween and the upcoming holidays. I’m determined to make them as special and memorable as possible. End the year on a good note, you know? Be well, Kimba.

It’s not that I want 2020 to be over, but more like, I want this pandemic to be over. I fear we’ll go into 2021 and it’ll all be the same old crap we’ve dealt with this whole year. I had such high hopes for 2020. Sigh. We’re going to watch Enola Holmes this week. Can’t wait!

I finished a book this morning that I had been reading since August 27th…a whole month! And it was not long or bad. It’s just, like you, I have trouble focusing these days. Audio is still going well though!

Enjoy your royals! And yes to 2020 being over! I sure hope 2021 will be better. Have a great week!

  7. MarthaE

I hope you are feeling better and enjoying your visit with the Royals.
I watch a lot of news. Hubby makes me watch old movies when he tires of the news shows. 🙂
It looks like you are enjoying the Rachel Aaron series.
A nice variety of new books too.
    Happy Reading!

  8. Krsitin

I have pockets on when I can’t really focus. I have been pretty good, but the last few days I can’t seem to focus too long unless, like you said, it’s a movie or show or something like that. Here’s to hoping we get our focus back

I watched Enola Holmes last night and enjoyed it. I like the actress anyway from Stranger Things. 2020 can’t leave soon enough for me! Maybe there will be a trustworthy vaccine by Spring!

  10. Katherine

I haven’t watched Enola Holmes but just saw the preview for it and thought it looked so good. Glad to hear you’ve enjoyed it! Audio books are such lifesavers sometimes. I hope you have a nice calming week.

  11. Yvonne

I’ve been having a hard time with the news, too. I try not to watch too much, but somehow I hear it all. I sometimes find it hard to concentrate on books, too. I haven’t watched Enola Holmes, but I’ll have to give that a try. Hope you have a great week!

  12. Heather

I know what you mean about limiting the news, the UK has had more restrictions put in place, I wouldn’t be surprised if we were locked down again.

I hope to watch Enola Holmes soon, we definitely need these type of films to keep our spirits up.

    Have a good week!

  13. Sophia Rose

Looks like you treated the Royals royally. 🙂 We got some apples at the orchard and I’m making a pie today for hubby. Too bad about the reading. I had the same sort of week with hitting the audios heavier. I definitely want to watch Enola Holmes after seeing the clips.

    Have a good week, Kimberly!

  14. Lover of Romance

Happy Sunday Love. I am sorry to hear that reading has been a struggle….but gotta love the LOVE for audio listening …its such a blessing when we can’t focus right? I only listen to podcasts for the news just to be aware of what is going on, been focusing on other happier things.

  15. Anne - Books of My Heart

Cookies? I like cookies! I just read about the Enola Hughes series and maybe I’ll watch if I get a chance. I just started reading Archive of the Forgotten. I went through a time period of being so stirred up I couldn’t read an ebook or sometimes concentrate on audio either. But that has passed and I am back to devouring books.

I feel the same way about concentration. I had to get the book I’m currently reading in audio because I just can’t focus right now and I can’t explain it at all. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

  17. Sophie

I see you have fun with the kids! I don’t have a problem to read but I noticed that I listen to many more audiobooks than before too! Now I want to see Enora Holmes!

  18. A Voracious Reader

My reading is WAY off this year. I haven’t even broken 100 books yet! That’s unheard of for me. 2020 can just go suck it and for more reasons than my reading fall off.

  19. Michelle@BecauseReading

You make me want to bake cookies now lol.

I have Enola Holmes on my list but I have a few others I want to watch before I get to that. I tend to binge watch while I design stuff or set up post drafts. Also when my daughter is at practice for an hour and a half I watch stuff in the car while I wait lol.

Have a great week, Kim! Happy Reading! xx

  20. Erin @ Cracker Crumb Life

Ooo I love the Rockton books!!!! I will be anxiously awaiting that one!

And we tried to watch Enola Holmes but my kiddo decided he wanted to be awake and not go to sleep last night… we gave up, and hope to finish it tonight. I enjoyed what we were able to see though!

  21. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Hearing a lot about Enola Holmes! It’s been awhile since I turned on Netflix or even Disney+ and watched anything. Been busy I guess and if I find the time to veg out I find myself reading! Lol.

Nice new reads! I got Kelley’s book as well though I need to read the last two books still too, I figure this will make me get caught up. I was going to read a few more spooky reads before diving into my review pile which has grown quite a bit lately!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  22. Lola

I hope you’re having a fun weekend with the royals! I still have to catch up on that Kelley Armstrong series, I’ve only read the first two books, which were great. I hope you’ll have a great week!

  23. Stormi Johnson

Sorry to hear you can’t focus on reading, but yay for audiobooks! 🙂 I was kind of like that earlier this year but I think this month is my first month in a while where my ebook/print books exceeded my audios!

    Have a great week!

  24. sjhigbee

I hope you have a lovely weekend with the Royals. I was supposed to watch Enola Holmes with Himself last night – but fell asleep before it started! Hoping your sinus infection is finally lifting and that the coming week is good one for you, Kimberly.

  25. Linda @ (un)Conventional Bookworms

Yeah, waiting for 2020 to be over, while at the same time feeling very cautious about 2021… The world is such a strange place these days.
I’m glad you have cookie-making with the Royals to keep you happy this weekend!
We’re celebrating 2nd child’s birthday tonight, so I have something fun to look forward to as well 🙂
Have a wonderful week ahead. *hugs*

Kimberly, I have also been just reading one book this week too, as I have found myself too tired to focus on much and have instead opted for comforting viewing instead. I haven’t seen Enola Holmes, but I would like to! Take care and hopefully more reading in the coming week. ?

Oh my gosh! Yes! I think I’m ready for 2020 to be over!! Lol! Except not in December when I have family here – maybe we can just skip to then and have nothing happen so they can’t come. We watched Enola Holmes too and loved it! Hopefully you get that one book finished this next week and have a good one!

  28. Jen at Introverted Reader

I’ve struggled with focus ever since the covid lockdowns started. I’ve still been able to read but generally nothing more mentally taxing than YA fantasy.

It sounds like you’re having a great weekend with the Royals though! Games and baking = a good time in my book! I’m glad you enjoyed Enola Holmes. We’ll probably watch it sometime this week.

    Enjoy your week!

  29. Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard

Sounds like a lovely weekend with the Royals! I go through periods when I can’t focus, too. I did get more reading in over the last two weeks… well, reading and listening to audiobooks. I hope your reading focus bounces back soon!

Oh, and yes, I am so ready for 2020 to be over. Well, actually, I’m ready for all this stuff to be over… which probably won’t be until sometime in 2021.

I can relate to that difficulty in focusing, and I can’t wait until 2020 is over! I hope you have a great weekend and that the upcoming week is more productive. Enjoy those books!

  31. Greg

I am ready for 2020 to be over! As long as ’21 isn’t worse? Yikes. Same here with the news, by the way. I seriously have to make myself stay away.

Have a great weekend with the Royals! 🙂
