Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.  See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

We ordered new sliding glass doors. We have two- one off the kitchen and another from our walk-out basement. Both are drafty and I cannot handle the cold. We ended up getting the ones with blinds built-in. It will be so nice not to have to clean the sliding blinds anymore. They should be installed by the end of the month. Fingers-crossed. PS- I am now broke! ?? I have been so busy between work and Royals. My tired is tired! I think it’s also because everyone is home since cases are rising here. I long for alone time. Do you feel me? Stay Caffeinated.

Congrats on the new doors! That will be so good for your joints to keep the cold out. Our state keeps vacillating between phase 1 and 2, so the stress level is high. They canceled football for the year, my son is a senior, so he’s pretty crushed. Idk, it’s a strange time time to be alive–but at least we’re alive! Be well, Kimba.

  2. Lorna

I think I have too much alone time even though I live with two other people. One works nights and sleeps days, the other stays in her tv-computer room all day. We eat together maybe 3-4 times a week. I’m still quarantining myself although I think I might go to the 24 hr banker tomorrow. I’m nervous about doing that even. I didn’t realize your cases are going up. We are between 700-1000 positives a day but since not that many are hospitalized we are considered a good state. My nephew, his wife and teens are finally cleared as of today to go back to work etc. Last I heard the adults still can’t taste or smell. Anyway, have a good week and get some rest!

    • Kimberly

That has to be hard too. I just want to shower and shave my legs without interruption or read a book without feeling guilty about not entertaining someone. Ah well.

  3. Carla

Sounds like it has been a busy and exhausting week for you. We are still gradually opening up and I am still pretty much remaining isolated as much as I can. Try to keep sane Kimberly and enjoy your new reads.

We just enacted a mandatory mask order until October 15th because people here think the virus is a joke.

    • Kimberly

I tried explaining to to my husband. He was like, but you work in your office during the day alone. (not the same)

  4. vidya

This week has been kind of like that for us too – our tired is tired, to borrow your phrase!! And I need to get started on The Lions of 5th Avenue soon.. 🙂

    • Kimberly

Yay… I hope you join. I have another in late November – The HoHoHo readthon for holiday and winter setting reads.

  5. MarthaE

I hope the new doors help stop the drafts.
We have some house repairs to make too. And that touches the budget, yes.
There is a fine line between alone time and too alone isn’t there?
Lots of good arrivals for you this week.
    Happy Reading!

  6. shooting

That’s awesome about the new doors. Sorry you’re so tired though – I can understand wanting alone time though, and I hope you can get some sooner than later. I know that’s tough though watching the Royals and everything.

  7. Anne - Books of My Heart

I feel you all around. I just live with my daughter so really I get alone time pretty easily. But I miss traveling. Food with delivery and the fact I think I need to stock everything just in case and food is more expensive so the money is out the door. My daughter is busy buying beads and supplies for craft projects which I hope calms down a little once she is back to school. Try to find a break for your self this week, even if it ‘s a walk alone while listening to audio. It’s too hot for that maybe. Here it either is hot or raining or both.

  8. Sophia Rose

Those doors sound pretty cool, erm insulated, rather. LOL I love the idea of not having to clean blinds. Worth being broke for a bit. 🙂 Oh man, the need for some space from other humans now and then is real. Hope you get some this week.

Lovely haul! Hope I get picked for Return to Virgin River, but I got Sassy Witch, too.

    Have a great week, Kimberly!

  9. Lisa Mandina

Love the cover of the Sassy Witch! Great books this week!

  10. Pixireads

I know the broke feeling. We just fixed our sewer lines about a month ago, and now are about to tackle finally finishing our basement.

    • Kimberly

It never ends. We are tackling smaller projects that won’t require many people in and out of the house.

  11. vvb

Hope you get some much needed rest this week. Enjoy the home improvements and happy reading 😉

  12. Lover of Romance

oh my goodness…new sliding doors. Those will be worth it.

I love seeing your new additions that you have there. Debbie Maocomber and Robyn Carr are great. Hope you enjoy those.

  13. Angela

I fell you on the alone time. We’ve all been staying home since March.
Those new doors sound nice. Hope they work out for you.
    Nice book haul. Happy Reading!

  14. IntrovertedJen

We installed French doors with the built-in blinds a few years ago and love them! I hope you get some alone time soon. I know how exhausting it is to need that time to recharge and not be able to get it. Enjoy your week!

  15. Samantha

Yay for new doors! And I love the blinds IN the glass. Everything in my house is dusty and dog fur covered no matter how much I dust so I would kill to have blinds in glass.

We’ve been talking about getting new sliding glass doors, too, or perhaps replacing them with French doors… after we get a new deck. Eventually!

I’m excited for the new Virgin River book! Lots of interesting books coming out this summer and fall.

I can only imagine how tired you are, between the work and the Royals (as much as you love them.) Introverts really need downtime alone! I’m fortunate; both my husband and I are introverts, and it’s just the two of us in the house, so we can give each other space and alone time when one or both of us need it. Even with restrictions eased, we have stayed home except when absolutely necessary.

Did I tell you …all of our adult children moved home during the pandemic ? All are working from home except one. Mr. Caffeinated is working from home too! The Royals split their time between here, and their Dads.

    • Kimberly

Yes…. even just an hour of total quiet. Every room I go to someone is in it. Plus… these people all have stuff and my OCD can’t deal.

  17. Lola

I hope the new sliding doors you ordered are great and will help against the cold. We might be getting a second wave here as cases are rising again. I hope you’ll enjoy your new books and have a great week!

    • Kimberly

I am sorry. Thankfully stores here are mandating masks as cases rise, but our governor won’t allow mayors to enact them. It’s political and stupid.

  18. sjhigbee

Urg… I recall that type of deep fatigue. I hope you get a break sometime soon, Kimberly… Best of luck with having the doors installed!

    • Kimberly

Thank you. Yeah, I can’t seem to shake the tired, and had a sinus infection which I am sure is fueling it.

  19. A Voracious Reader

Yay for new doors! I love my “new” ones. I did the front in 2018 and the back in 2019. Love them! I’m so excited for you! I’m now wondering if that’s kinda sad. Getting excited about new doors? Eh, fuck it. *does dance* LOL

  20. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Oh nice! We have one of those doors in our walk out basement too. The blinds worked really nice to keep out the sun a bit so the dogs wouldn’t wake up the second they could see it! Lol.

Nice new reads! These are all new to me ones here. I hope you enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

Sounds like you need a break! Enjoy your new reads! Yay for Debbie Macomber’s Christmas book, I always like those…lol.

Have a great week and happy reading!

yeah, i feel ya. we have a couple of sliders we need to have replaced too. we were going to do major renovations this past spring and i am so glad we never got started. who knows what would have happened if we got caught in the middle of it…and yes, i can use some alone time in

    • Kimberly

Exactly. Which is why we are doing little jobs. Both doors will be installed in one day. Mostly outside and they will wear masks.

  23. Berls

I feel you!!! My tired has been tired for months now lol!

Yay for the new doors! I don’t think I’ve heard of them having the blinds built in and I’m trying to picture it. Going to have to Google, because my imagination is running wild ?.

Have a great week and stay safe!

    • Kimberly

The blind is between the glass. There is a slide-lever mid-high on the doors where you slide to send blinds up and away or down. Then you adjust to open them. It is nice. You can even angle them up or down, depending on sunlight.

  24. Marsha Spohn

Ahhh. *sigh*… Time Alone. *puzzled look* Remind me what that is again, please? Since 2020 has been a decade long and it’s not over yet, I don’t recall what time truly by myself feels like anymore. (and no, I don’t count locking the bathroom door so I can grab a quick shower as truly ‘me’ time…) I’m thinkin’ more like a sunset, some wine, a good book – just me and all the above. So yeah, I feel ya! 🙂

    • Kimberly

Yes Marsha…. before this hit I would have all day to myself. I miss the peaceful moments, but love my peeps.

  25. Deb Nance at Readerbuzz

I don’t know how you are doing it. The times are so overwhelmingly upsetting, that I feel like we need to all be in therapy. Sending good thoughts and prayers your way.

  26. Tanya @ Girl Plus Books

Hooray for the new doors! At our previous house we had our sliding glass door replaced with French doors and they had the interior blinds. I loved them! Sorry to hear that cases are on the rise there. 🙁 It’s not so good here, either.

Aw Kimberly, I really hope you’re able to get some rest and quiet time soon! But good news about the new doors and built in blinds – We have some of those in our bathroom windows and they are brilliant! Take care, get some rest and happy reading! ?

Get some rest, Kim, and make sure you get some alone time every now and then – even if that’s in your room with a good book… I think we need more self care than ever now.
    Stay safe and healthy. *hugs*

    • Kimberly

I saw you got some beach time. I am insanely jealous. We didn’t get to travel to the water this year. I miss it. Take care!

  29. Rachel

We need a new sliding glass door and windows. I can’t believe how much they charge! I’m looking forward to the new Robin Carr!

Right. I got what I wanted, even though it cost a little more. We won’t need to replace before we retire and it will increase value.

  30. Laurel-Rain Snow

I can relate to “my tired is tired.” LOL.

I hope you can get those blinds up soon, as it is hard to wait for something you just bought!

Stay safe and enjoy your books. I want to read Return to Virgin River.

  31. Greg

Sorry to hear cases are rising there. It’s kind of disheartening to see how that is happening so many places now. Congrats on the new sliders though! the built in blinds sound nice. I want some like that lol.

Hope you are well this week!

    • Kimberly

I figured with everyone going in-and-out to the deck and yard; it was the smartest move. Plus, it will be so much easier to keep clean.
