The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme
The news is depressing. The division, the “me”-mentality and shenanigans have given me the blues. Be kind, uplift someone this week, think of others and do your part to make the world we share a better place.
We scheduled a vacation in July. It will be a staycation since it’s not safe to travel. We plan to tackle some fixer-upper projects and unplug from everything. Stay Caffeinated.

I know what you mean and wish I didn’t. Enjoy your break. You do awesome work, just awesome in uplifting others and that makes a difference. I am hoping the domino effect will do the rest.
Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
Hope you enjoy your staycation!

The news is depressing. I’m just trying to treat everyone well and spread joy. It’s such a hard time. Sending you elbow hugs.
S. J. Pajonas
I love a good staycation! So I’m glad to hear you’ve scheduled something for you and your family just to stay home and relax.
vidya
I enjoyed reading The Jane Austen Society (Still not gotten into audio books though I tried it with nonfiction a couple of times).. and I have The Lions of Wall Street on my list to read as well..
enjoy your staycation ..
Melliane
Oh nice! Many things to try there! happy reading!

Happy staycation and stay well. Your new books look good, and I like the cover on the Carolyn Brown one especially.

This week alone has been an entire year – or so it feels. Kindness, compassion, empathy and, realizing that we are all humans on the same planet is the way we should all be acting… all the time, but especially right now. Sadly, not everyone agrees. Thanks for the reminder, for truer words haven’t been spoken than simply ‘be kind to one another’.
Marsha
gah – sorry didn’t put the link in right so let’s try again
Erin @ Cracker Crumb Life
I love how you framed that – just be kind and think of others. SO true! We are staycationing this year as well. My husband has taken a few long weekends this month and we are doing the same, just some projects around the house and such. We will probably save some time for fall I guess too, although that will be just another stay-at-home vacation too. Stay safe!
Heather
Hi
The news is depressing all over, here in Scotland we have had our fourth day without any recorded deaths so I am hopeful some normality will return. We had a vacation booked in September to fly to Orlando which is now cancelled, I think in all honesty I’d rather stay put until next year.
I still can’t believe I haven’t done a Sunday Post for four years but it nice to be back in the blogging world.
Joanne
Rough week here as well on many fronts. Yes, let’s keep uplifting each other.
MarthaE
I agree that the news is depressing. We are traveling this week and I am a little nervous.
We would be staying home except we need to help our son’s family after our d-i-l’s surgery.
I was very tempted to get The Bone Jar as my June First Reads. (Picked Find Me instead).
I need to read another Butcher soon.
Stay safe and Happy Reading!
Lauren @ Always Me
I’m so excited for Peace Talks! Happy Sunday!
IntrovertedJen
I’ve had to set a timer on my Facebook app. The news and selfishness of others was really starting to get to me. The timer has helped my mental state a lot!
I need to continue with The Dresden Files soon. There’s always a fairly long wait list for every book in the series at my library so I forget to look for the next ones!
Enjoy your week! Take care!

I can’t watch or read the news too often these days – it’s just really depressing. I hope you have a nice staycation though. And ooh I’m so curious about Malorie. Loved Bird Box.

I agree. I look at what is happening and I think of that famous quote “Don’t think of what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country” and serving others, being kind is what is truly needed in society right now. We have really lost how important that is. We need to learn to appreciate all we have and to give what we can to others. Even if its something simple like a warm smile or kind word. Uplifiting others is definitely a great focus.
Stacy Renee
We will also be spending our vacation week at home tackling all the big projects! I’m sad we can’t do any of our favorite activities STILL but there’s always next year!
Have a great week and enjoy your new reads! 🙂
Lorna
Agreed. The news is depressing and my anxiety is not pretty. My nephew and his family just went to Myrtle Beach like nothing was going on. He got back home and called his mom to ask when he should get tested. He was in denial before going. Evidently Myrtle Beach is one of the worse places they could have gone! So yes everyone should be doing staycations. Have a good week Kimberly!
Laura @ Library of Clean Reads
Yes, I agree the news is depressing and we still have some tough times ahead, so your appeal to uplift someone is exactly what we need to be doing. 🙂 I’m taking a week off in July too and doing the same, taking care of some reno projects and taking it easy.
I love the look of the Lions of Fifth Avenue. I’m off to read your review of The Jane Austen Society. Enjoy your week!
Sophie
I get what you mean with being depressed by the news Kimberly. We are supare careful but my daughter is back from her dorm and she plans to see her friends and take the train and visit some towns. She swears she’ll wear a mask but …I am afraid!
Carla
I agree, Kimberly. The Me-Mentality is so frustrating and disappointing. I try to do something nice for people whenever I can, even if it is only a smile, a wave or a hello. YOu have some great new additions. I have some of them as well, so I hope we both enjoy them.
Anne - Books of My Heart
Yes we have to try to be kind and uplift others. The world has some bad actors getting the attention right now. At least we have the best books! Stay safe and well!
Sophia Rose
We did a staycation for our vacation time and got some things done around the house that tired us out physically, but felt so good getting them done and tuning out everything else. Hope your time recharges you, too. 🙂
Nice haul to enjoy. I got Ms Janie’s Girls, too.
Mary Kirkland
I’m just tired of all the craziness.
sjhigbee
I hope you have a lovely staycation, Kimberly! We’re bang in the middle of ours – and so far, so good. I hope you also get a break from all the negativity…
Shelleyrae @ Book’d Out
Enjoy your unplugged staycation!
Stay well and safe, wishing you a great reading week
Samantha
Sorry things have been so hard on you! I have had to back away from my personal social media because its just so stressful. Hopefully your staycation is just what you need!
Yvonne
A staycation is a great idea. I think many of us are doing that. It’s safer, for sure. It’s hard to even watch the news anymore.
I hope you have a great week.
Michelle@Because Reading
I peak every so often but overall I avoid the news. My anxiety had been the worst since this all started and with everything else going on around here I can’t take much more.
Someone at work mentioned my boss might close for two weeks which I am hoping he does, if he does we plan to stay home and just hang around the house and maybe hit the shore house for a few days just for a change of scenery, since we refuse to go anyplace unless it’s for groceries.
Mental Health is important so take care of yourself. Always here if you need to chat!
Have a great week Kim! Happy Reading! HUGS!
Laura Thomas
I usually stay at home for my vacations. I need one!!!!
Stormi Johnson
Staycations are just as good sometimes! Try to take some me time during your vacation! *hugs*
Tânia @MyLovelySecret
A staycation sounds perfect with everything that is going on. I’m also planning a staycation – my cats and books will keep me company.
Happy readings!
A Voracious Reader
It is most depressing. I just keep reminding myself that there are SO many people out there who are fighting the good fight. The news just doesn’t show them. We’re in Ohio now visiting family and being super careful. But it’s stressful. I hope you enjoy your staycation, Kim!
Jessica @ a GREAT read
Yeah, the news is getting more depressing every time I catch a glimpse of it. I think I will need a staycation myself sometime soon. Still trying to figure out if any fall events will be happening, I’m more likely to say they’re not since I already heard one is a virtual event. So I’m thinking the other two I’m waiting on will be canceled too.
Nice new reads! I’ve been curious about The Dead Girls Club. Hope you enjoy that one and all the rest of your new reads!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!

SJ @ Airin' my dirty laundry
A staycation sounds really good right about now. I could really use some downtime. I hope yours is very productive.
Vi @Inkvotary
Vacation time will be very different here too this year. But that is ok. There are lots of spaces in Germany I have not seen yet and so weekend trips are in order this year. Stay safe and well.
Gayathri
Staycation sounds perfect with all the things going on around the world. Stay in and stay safe.
Sam@wlabb
I hope you have a relaxing and productive staycation. I am still hoarding my vacation days, since I am work from home right now, and there’s nowhere to go and no one to do anything with. Thanks for sharing my post! XOXO
Tanya @ Girl Plus Books
Watching the news these days just drags me down. So much division and discontent. Worse than ever. We had to cancel our vacation back in early May. I keep wavering between doing a staycation and not wanting to “waste” the time-off.
Flora
Sending virtual {hugs}
I think your right Kimberly, the world needs healing with kindness, tolerance and acceptance. Take care of yourself lovely lady. XxXx
jessicabookworm
I couldn’t agree more, Kimberley about just being kind to each other. I also hope your upcoming staycation. Take care and happy reading.
Linda @ (un)Conventional Bookworms
Yes, be kind and uplift someone is a very good thing to be doing right now, Kimberly. I’m sorry you have the blues. Sending you gentle hugs and good thoughts to help you feel better.
Rachel
We’ve been working on some home projects as well. We’re traveling in July (not on the holiday), but taking precautions. I need to check out the new Carolyn Brown!
Maureen @ Maureen’s Books
A staycation sounds perfect Kimberly. Unplugging can be good at times.
And I totally agree about the news.. it’s heartbreaking.
Stay safe and happy reading.
Siran
Have fun on your staycation.
Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard
I know what you mean about the news. I’m alternating between unplugging from it, and catching up so I know what’s going on. I hope you have a better week, and enjoy your staycation when you take it. We will probably be taking at least one staycation this year, too. Hang in there, and enjoy all those new books — you got quite a few this week!
Natalie @Natflix&Books
The news is super hard right now. I’m trying to stay posit, but it definitely isn’t easy. I’m curious about The Girl From Widow Hills. Happy reading!
Laurel-Rain Snow
Good thoughts! We all need to spend more time caring for others and being kind.
Enjoy your Staycation.
I also got The Girl from Widow Hills. Enjoy!
Greg
I feel the same way this week. It seems like things are going backwards w/ the Covid, but I guess we shouldn’t be surprised. anyway I hear you- focus on the positive and try to help others. Take care and be well this week Kimba!
