Deadly secrets. Hidden enemies. Colliding histories.

She’s supposed to be dead.

For Rowan Valor, faking her own death is a regular necessity. How else would an immortal dragon manage to live in a place like Manhattan for close to three hundred years? But changing her identity leaves the community center she founded vulnerable, and for the sake of the children, she must find a way to undo the damage.

He’s leading a new life.

Human detective Nick Grandstaff entered law enforcement to escape his violent roots. But closing the door on his past has resulted in an unnatural obsession with his work. Perhaps it’s for the best that his longest relationship has been with his dog. What woman would choose to be with someone with such a dark and tangled history?

To have a future together, both must face their past.

When Nick investigates a case that leads him to Rowan’s door, their passionate connection promises to heal old wounds and grant them both the once-in-a-lifetime love they deserve. But fighting a common enemy entangles them in the dangerous supernatural underworld of Manhattan where power is shifting, and unbeknownst to Rowan, a former ally has become a deadly enemy.

magical SUSPENSE

Manhattan Dragon by Genevieve Jack is the third audiobook in the Treasure of Paragon paranormal romance series. A dragon and a police detective face down a predator in this action-packed, swoon-worthy tale.

This third book belongs to sister Rowan Valor and with it comes a narrator change. Holly Adams does a stellar job with the voice of Rowan, and her male voice for detective Nick Grandstaff. Her voices for the villains were creepy and gave me a chill.

Rowan seeking a little revenge against the folks who own the land beneath the community center steals a jewel and walks straight into off-duty police detective Nick Grandstaff. She cleans up her mess and erases Nick’s memory, but when he shows up a few days later asking questions about a murder victim, it’s clear he has some memory of her. I loved the chemistry between these two and learning about previous encounters.

It soon becomes clear the two must work together, and I enjoyed watching things move beyond that.

In the meantime, her siblings are looking to warn her about Paragon and the vampire threat. We got updates on her siblings and their mates.

The shifters and vampires in New York are seriously creepy, well their leaders were. There are some triggers in this book, so if you are vulnerable to sexual triggers proceed with caution. View Spoiler »

The romance was sexy. With the bond mating and discovery it was also hot as hell. It played a secondary role to the intense case, battle, and overall series arc. However, the author still made me feel connected and their relationship felt genuine.

I loved the sibling interaction and the brothers interaction with Nick. The battles scenes and encounter with some scary vampires was brilliant. I am looking forward to meeting the next brother. Jack laid the groundwork and I look forward to the audiobook.

Fans of dragons, siblings and paranormal romantic suspense will want to devour this audiobook series.
