In a world where magic is the key to power and wealth, Catalina Baylor is a Prime, the highest rank of magic user, and the Head of her House. Catalina has always been afraid to use her unique powers, but when her friend’s mother and sister are murdered, Catalina risks her reputation and safety to unravel the mystery.

But behind the scenes powerful forces are at work, and one of them is Alessandro Sagredo, the Italian Prime who was once Catalina’s teenage crush. Dangerous and unpredictable, Alessandro’s true motives are unclear, but he’s drawn to Catalina like a moth to a flame.

To help her friend, Catalina must test the limits of her extraordinary powers, but doing so may cost her both her House–and her heart.

Nothing cheers me up like slipping into one of Ilona Andrews’ stories. Sapphire Flames by Ilona Andrews is the fourth book in the Hidden Legacy series and continues Catalina Baylor story. Prepare for danger, swoons and more!

Catalina is Prime and now the head of Baylor House since her sister’s nuptials. They are just ending their first year as a house and are no longer safe from threats by other houses. Security issues and finances aren’t their only problems. I loved Catalina and her take charge attitude.

When another house seeks her help to stop a young boy from plunging off a rooftop, Catalina soon finds herself taking on a risky and dangerous case.  When she finds herself in danger, Alessandro Sagredo, swoops in to save the day. I loved the back-and-forth banter, snark and sparks that ensued.

Eep! From page one Andrews hooked me and the story just kept getting better. Hell yes! From the double-murder to the freaky assassins who want Catalina dead I was all in.  The world-building is stellar, and I loved the surprises from secret societies to learning more about our Italian Prince. Even I have a crush on Alessandro. ? I want to hit him over the head and kiss him, all in the same moment!

I loved the way that House Baylor worked together. Their motley group of friends and allies are like one big family. This was not an easy case, but they banned together and kicked some monster-butt. While the case wrapped up, and we saw some softening in the relationship department, Catalina and Alessandro’s story is far from over. I need book five post haste. ?

If you love superheroes, snark, and swoons the Hidden Legacy series rocks and if you’ve never tried Ilona Andrews, it’s the perfect series to enter the fandom.

Sapphire Flames was addictive, snarky, sexy and smart. Catalina is Prime!

Ilona Andrews are masters at world building! I agree with your comment about wanting to hit Alessandro over the head and kiss him all at the same time! It’s going to be hard having to wait a year for the next installment! Wonderful Review Kim!

I’m not sure how much I love superheroes but I love snark enough to make up for it! Illona Andrews is on my TBR and I’ve bought several of their books on Audible. Now just to listen to them.

Excellent review! Ilona Andrews is the best and this series is amazing – every single book. I wouldn’t miss a word of it. I read this one, then listened to it. I bought it in both formats. LOVE

snarky swoon, magic and really interesting guy with a gun. Don’t really know if you need a gun if you have magic?
