Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.  See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

Still playing with Gutenberg. I found a plugin that let me link images in Gallery… only to discover it overwrote all links for images. It caused book cover images in my sidebar to be linked to Goodreads or Amazon too. LOL, back to written links. I have had some nasty headaches, all weather related, or at least it seems to be tied to rain. I love seeing the sun and the snow is almost gone. We still have some areas covered and the ground is a mess. I am eager to see signs of spring and the warmer temps give me hope. Stay Caffeinated!

Sorry to hear about your headaches Kim. I’ve been trying to find a good plug in to link images too! The book blogger holy grail huh? 🙂 Hope you fell better soon!

  2. Tyler H Jolley

Sorry to hear you head headaches. I slept terribly last week because of the full moon. Maybe I’m a werwolf? Lol. Can’t wait to see what you have brewing on the blog this week, Kimba!

  3. MarthaE

Hope you are getting the blog changes sorted out. Our pollen counts have been high with lots of sinus suffering. I hope your headaches clear up and that you get lots of spring soon!
    Happy Reading!

  4. Berls

I’m a bit nervous about when Michelle finally decides to go ahead an update our blog – I told her it’s up to her. IF you’re struggling I’m scared to see how I’ll struggle :/

I hope you get some good spring weather soon – we’ve had the most gorgeous weather and I’ve really enjoyed spending hours reading and blogging on my balcony. I’m waiting for it to be warm enough that I can spend my mornings out here – I think it’s coming, since it’s currently 8:45pm and I’m outside 🙂

    Have a great week!

    • Kimberly

No. Not struggling Berls, it is just trying to figure out work around for some plugin features I enjoyed. My hope is the next update allows plugins to add to blocks.

  5. bookworm

I hope you have a nice week with zero headaches. Spring is definitely in the air. Enjoy your books!

  6. S. J. Pajonas

I’m also happy to see the snow gone. I really hope we don’t get anymore! I’m playing with Gutenberg on one of my websites and it’s starting to grow on me. I used to do web design and programming for a living, though, so these things thrill me. What I’ve found is that I can write out a whole post in a text editor with HTML, copy and paste it in, and Gutenberg will format according to my HTML, which is a nice feature. I hope you have fewer headaches this week!

Spring is well on her way here. The Cherry blossoms are blooming. Smells divine. It will happen your way too, Kim. Doesn’t winter seem forever? Thanks for all the reviews you do here. I’m catching up on last week’s. I’m currently reading one of your recommendations and thoroughly enjoying it! The Kendra Elliot novella 1.

I think that my 2-day headache was closely tied to the weather as well. I hope you have a headache free week. Lots of great new books. I cannot wait for Wolfhunter River but I think I will just wait and buy it after it is available. Have a great week!

  9. Anne - Books of My Heart

I am totally and completely sun addicted right now. When it’s sunny I’m energetic and have ideas and do things, when it rains or is cloudy for too many days I want to stay in bed, curl in a ball and sleep. Luckily, with it being more springlike I am getting more sun. Have a sunny week with amazing reads!

Looking forward to your review of “Have you seen Luis Velez”. Happy Sunday! 🙂

  11. Rachel

Happy to hear you’re getting better weather. Hope your headaches get better.

Interested to hear what you think of the new Kelley Armstrong. 🙂

  12. Kelly

Sorry about your headaches. I hate when the weather changes and headaches start. Thanks for hosting this meme! It was my first time participating and it was fun looking back over my week!

  13. Lindy@A Bookish Escape

I definitely have a netgalley problem. The problem was that I had a bunch of DNF books, because I didn’t like them and don’t finish books and write reviews on a book if I don’t like it. So I decided to just write back DNF and that the book wasn’t for me. Hopefully it’s not looked down about. You got a lot of good looking books this week. I enjoy Kelly Armstrong, so Wherever She Goes has my interest! Rachel Caine and Kim Harrison are great authors as well! Happy Reading!

  14. Mary @StackingMyBookShelves!

Happy Spring and hopefull you get rid of those headaches! I am sorry about the linking problems. I am still using blogger and so far I am ok with it. I would like to change a few things with my theme but can’t seem to get the right code to do that and not having enough time to mess with it doesn’t help. I am totally going to pre-order Rachal Caines new book. I love Gwen/Gina and sad that this is the last in the series since she is so badass. Have a great week! I am hoping to be hopping in during the week.

Sorry about the headaches. And I’m sure the image issue wasn’t helping any!

We’ve had some beautiful days and I’m happy for Sprong!

  16. sjhigbee

Urg! You still have snow on the ground:(. Though I seem to recall that last year we had a late blizzard in March, too… I hope it warms up very soon, Kimberly and the headaches soon fade.

  17. Lola

I hope you find a way to have Gutenberg run smoothly. It sounds like a pain. That’s good you saw the sun a few times and the snow is almost gone. I am ready for spring to get here too. Enjoy your new books. Have a great week!

  18. Lizzy

Thank you for the linkback! That was so nice of you. 🙂

Hope your headaches improve. My husband and I both get seasonal ones. Usually a good rain helps a lot though, for us…then again this year has been one of the wettest on record for Virginia so we do NOT need more rain!

  19. Lynn

The new arrivals look good! I hope you’ll enjoy all the books you got!
I’ve been having nasty headaches as well, I believe mine are stress related which is not great because I now seem to have stress all the time.
    Have a wonderful week, Kimberly!

  20. A Voracious Reader

I really need to start playing around with my WordPress blog so I have a backup in case Blogger goes belly up. I hope this week proves very Springy for you Kim!

  21. Suzanne @ The Bookish Libra

Gutenberg is such a pain. I don’t know why they couldn’t just leave it like it is or at least continue to give people both options.

Spring has sprung here too. I have daffodils and tulips coming up in my yard, so for the first time in months, I’m actually excited about the weather and being outside.

Hope you have a good week and those headaches go away soon.

  22. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Yeah, our weather is slowly taking a turn too. I guess that’s good, but spring never lasts long before the brutal summer starts and lasts until winter. So, not looking forward to that.

Lots of nice new reads!! Excited for Perfunctory Affectation and Wherever She Goes! I enjoyed Wolfhunter River though. The rest are new to me ones I will have to check out! Happy Reading!

    Here’s my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

I am not happy with the thought of Gutenberg. I know how to write a little HTML but I am just want to write posts and be done. I don’t have tons of time to be playing with HTML and I am OCD about how stuff looks. This is just a bad mix for me. I am going to add the classic editor but once that is gone, I need to figure what I plan to do unless they switch it back.

Sorry for the headaches, I’ve had them all winter. It must be the weather.

Have a great week, Kim! Happy Reading! xx

You work in blocks and it really isn’t bad, it just isn’t perfect yet. For example, if I want to use a scroll box to share an excerpt from the button that was added to the classic isn’t on Gutenberg. So I need to use the shortcode for the plugin. Or for example I am doing a post and want to show multiple books and there descriptions..say a top 5 thing. The UBB add a book box, or a spoiler are gone. You need to remember and use the short code. Plus a few little things I liked. Hopefully, they allow plugins to be added to blocks!

  24. Nicci @ Sunny Buzzy Books

I love Kim Harrison’s books! Thanks to you getting the audio, I went snooping on GR to find out what it was about and although it sounds interesting I’m dying with excitement after finding out she’s returning to the hollows at some point soon! Oh how I’ve missed Rachel and the gang…

Kimberly I already dread the moment when I’ll have to use Gutenberg! I am so not ready and I don’t know if my theme will be ready either…
Sorry to hear about your headache! Let’s hope you get some sun next week and stay caffeinated 😉

  26. Gayathri

Yes Spring is kinda here too and we are celebrating it by taking off to the beach this week. But I am just hoping the cold won’t spoil it, you know how crazy the weather has been recently with all the fluctuations. I hope you feel better soon

Well, that doesn’t sound easy, but hopefully once you master it, things will be better.
Argh, the pressure headaches are a real struggle, for sure. Right there with you.

Nice haul. I see several from great series in that pile.

    Have a great week, Kimberly!

  28. Dani @ Perspective of a Writer

GAHHHH Gutenberg is hell to learn because it doesn’t seem to mesh well with the knowledge I already have. Being made to feel stupid is not conductive to learning. Hope you are able to get your headaches under control… I know mine aren’t!

My sister is struggling with images after using Gutenberg too. I know my time is coming when I will switch and sure not looking forward to it. I’m tech challenged. I know just enough to make a mess of things. LOL I hope you find some relief from the headaches. I’m having them too and think it’s from all the pollen.

  30. Laurel-Rain Snow

Your new books all look tempting. Thanks for sharing, and enjoy your new blog editor. I’m not ready for such a big change.

    Have a great week!

  31. Greg

We’re finally warming up here too, it’s about time. I hope you warm up soon and stay that way as well! I’m about done with winter-ugh.

Hope your head aches go away. And yay for Exit Strategy… 🙂
