Guys…I disappeared from the blogosphere all week and I am sorry. No, I wasn’t off soaking my toes in the Caribbean. Instead, I was dragging myself to my home office, taking care of the Royals and going to bed after dinner. Some days I showered, but I never made it out of my pajamas. I cannot seem to shake my illness even though I am being treated. My Doctor thinks I picked up something viral on top of my strep (probably when I went to his offices after the first dose didn’t cure the strep). Whatever.  All I know is that I need to shake it. I’ve been cultured, bled and poked. So I am trying to rest and recover. My January self-destruct button is becoming a pattern. One is not supposed to meet their deductible in January!  I along with my doctors will try things to booster my immune system before next winter. As some of you know I am auto-immune compromised and my body spends half its time fighting off my good cells and not the bad ones.  The good news, Jim Butcher and James Marsters have been keeping me company in bed, ?  the bad house is a mess. Stay Caffeinated.

  2. Heidi

Sorry to hear you are under the weather, Kim. I have had a few mental health days myself this month. Just have a bad case of the winter blahs. We have to hang in there, spring is coming soon. Glad you found some great books to keep you company while you were sick. Hope you feel better soon.

  3. Tyler H. Jolley

I’m so sorry to hear you’ve been sick for so long. Two years ago, my middle son had strep for THREE MONTHS. He could not shake it. I finally realized it was probably the expander in his palate that was housing the bacteria. I hope you can pinpoint what’s happening and get better asap.

  4. bookworm

I am sorry to hear you are sick, I hope you feel better soon! That is so frustrating. Happy reading this week.

  5. MarthaE

Bummer that you are still ill. I’ll pray for your quick healing. It is good to have book companions to enjoy. You can get to the house when you feel better. Settle back with another good book and rest.
    Happy Reading!

  6. Laura @ Library of Clean Reads

I feel so terrible for you! Have you tried to consult a functional medicine doctor? I’ve pretty much lost faith in conventional medicine. Glad you have those audio books that keep you sane. Take care.

  7. Nise'

So sorry that January has been such a dude for you! Praying that you find what works to boost your immune system (I use essential oils and probiotics) and this virus is knocked out! Glad you have audios and books that keep you company.

  8. Angela

Oh my so sorry you are battling an illness. It’s never fun. Hope it gets better. Have a wonderful week and happy reading!

  9. sjhigbee

So sorry to hear you are still in the thickets of your illness:(. Look after yourself and don’t worry about the house. Once you are back on your feet, you’ll be able to sort it out. Take care. Hugsx

  10. Sophia Rose

Ugh! At least you had Jim and James… I spent my last few days darting out into the cold and snow for must needs and chores before climbing back under my cozy blanket near the fire. This was a bad week for a few I know so wishing you a better one coming up. 🙂

  11. Wendy @ Falconer's Library

Oh no! What a terrible start to the year. Don’t worry about the housework–it’s not going anywhere, and you need as much rest as you can possibly get. I hope you get some more good books keeping you company this week.

  12. Lorna

I’m so sorry to hear you are still ill. I had no idea about you immune system problem. Sorry it’s kicking you! Hope you have a better week coming up and that you start feeling much better!

  13. ShootingStarsMag

Oh gosh, I’m so sorry you’re dealing with all of this. My sister got some sort of weird virus last week. Sometimes it makes no sense, but I hope that you will start to feel better soon! January is just an awful month, I think. I’m glad you’ve had some nice company in bed though. 😉

  14. Samantha

Oh Kim I hope you get well soon. I have an auto immune disorder as well and it sucks!! There are days when I sleep for nearly 24 straight hours because I just worked myself to the bone during the week. Its awful.
James Marsters is my favorite narrator! He did the last 2 books of Cassandra Clare’s and it was magical!

Kimberly I am so sorry that you are still feeling ill! I really hope you’ll boost your immune system soon enough because being sick and exhausted all the time really suck! Told from someone being a real brat when she is sick 😉

  16. Mary @StackingMyBookShelves!

Geez, Kim, I am sorry you have been so sick and I do hope they get you at least out of your bed feeling better. It is hard with kids also. They keep bringing more germs. Feel better. I had a pretty busy week myself but find I might have some time to putz around on everyone’s blog today and tomorrow so YAY to that! Feel better!

  17. Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard

Kimberly, I’m sorry you’re having so much trouble shaking this illness! I hope you and your doctors can get your immune system working better. Meanwhile, rest and take the pressure off yourself as much as you can! And enjoy those books and audiobooks. 🙂

Oh man. This illness really is the devil. I can’t imagine how frustrated you must be. This cold weather is probably not helping you either. Be sure to get as much rest as you can and don’t let anything stress you too hard. Take care, Kim.

  19. vvb

Hopefully you will recover sooner than later this time around. Take care. Enjoy your latest.

  20. Lover Of Romance

I am sorry to hear that you had such a rough time this past week but it sounds like you were able to pick up some good books. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

  21. A Voracious Reader

It really sucks that January is your Monday, except it’s a month long. I will really ramp up the {{{posivibes}}} and *cross my fingers* that the new meds and rest work. What really sucks is having to go to the doctor only to pick up something else. We need something like all over sterile wipes or spray. Like those misters you walk through when it’s hot. lol I hope this week shows vast improvement for you, Kim.

  22. Melissa (My words and pages)

Oh my goodness. I’m so sorry to hear you are so sick. I do hope you start feeling better! Take care.

  23. Stormi Johnson

Ah man, sorry to hear you are still sick. It seems like January is kicking your butt and you need a redo button! Eat lots of chicken soup and rest. 🙂

You have some great things keeping your company while you rest! Yay for the Butcher/Marster combo!

I’m so sorry you’re stil.l not feeling well! Sending all the healing vibes your way, Kim.

At least Jim Butcher has kept you company in bed *wink, wink, nudge, nudge* LOL That made me laugh so hard. And I am behind on his books – I need to go back to Harry and his shenanigans!

Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading xoxo

I am sorry to hear you’re still struggling with that illness. I hope you can kick it soon. Sounds you had at least some good reads. Have a great week!

  26. Suzanne @ The Bookish Libra

I’m so sorry to hear that you still aren’t feeling better. Hopefully with all of the poking, prodding, and culturing the docs will figure out how best to treat it. I’m glad you’ve got some good reads to help you through this and hope that you’re able to relax a little more this week. Take care!

  27. Jasprit

So sorry you haven’t been feeling so good Kimberly, it’s honestly the worst, when you get sick with back to back things, i hope you feel better soon. I’m lad you’ve had some good books to keep you company though!

  28. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Aw man, that bites! I thought my neverending cold was bad, but that sounds terrible! I got sick Christmas morning and while I have shaken the worst of it off, still feel like I have a bit of leftover congestion. Although it’s still really freaking cold out so that might be the reason too. It’s questionable, but I can at least breathe for the most part! I hope you get better soon! Hopefully before February!

Nice new read too! It’s a new to me one but I hope you enjoy it!

    Here’s my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

I’m sorry to hear this is still dragging on for you! You must be exhausted. 🙁
I wouldn’t worry about the house being a mess, it can wait until you’re better.
Mmm, I do like James Marsters. I’m tempted to listen to the Dresden Files just to have him speaking in my ear for hours on end!

Poor you, Kimberly! It sucks that you can’t seem to be able to get rid of this bug! I hope you feel better soon. Maybe you can skip January next year?! LOL! 😉
Luckily you’ve been able to read. What would life be without books right?
    Good luck and happy reading!

I’m really sorry Kim! You keep getting rest and relaxing, we’ll be here when you get back. Hopefully you can shake it off this week and be on the road to recovery by this time next week.

  33. Tressa @ Wishful Endings

I’m so sorry, Kimberly! I was hoping this week would have gone better than last week. I’m sure you’re already on these, but I take a pro-biotic that I love. I used to catch things easier and noticed a huge difference. Email me if you want to know more. I hope you can kick the illness this week and get back to normal.

  34. Greg

Oh sorry to hear this thing is being so persistent Kimba… hope it passes soon! Hang in there!! At least you have some good company haha!

I’m thinking of trying Dannika Dark soon. I’m having more luck with urban fantasy lately. 🙂

    Take care this week!
