I cannot believe we are approaching mid-January already. I can not shake the strep throat and had to get a stronger dose of medication. Facebook took it upon itself to remind me I have been sick for the past three Januarys.  ? Thank you Facebook! Despite my sore throat and headache I continued on with my work, the Royals and reading. Well, ok I listened more but woot! It felt good to visit blogs again; I have so much to catch up on! Stay Caffeinated.

I’m also catching up on blog reading! I fell down on the job last week and it completely slipped my mind. Now I’m taking the morning to visit everyone. Sorry to hear you’re still sick! I hope that medication starts working soon.

So sorry that strep is hanging on. I hope you can get enough rest this week to knock it out.
You have some book reviews this week I need to peek at. Your four new books look like ones you’ll enjoy. All audiobooks? Got to look listening! Happy Reading!

  3. ShootingStarsMag

I hope you feel better soon! I’ve been dealing with a sore throat, but it’s more at night, which is strange, but hopefully it will go away soon. Definitely the time of the year for sickness – not fun! I’m glad you’re getting lots of books in though. 🙂

  4. Nise'

Sending you good thoughts that the new medication will kick that strep out! Looking forward to your thoughts on Untouchable

  5. Sophia Rose

Oh no… Facebook do a facepalm.
Glad you’ve been able to get some quiet work done and some reading/listening.
Nice haul. I’ve seen a lot of people eager for that Blake Crouch.

    Have a good week, Kimberly!

  6. Mary @StackingMyBookShelves!

I am so busy and so tired. I am unsure if I should just sleep for the day and night or work on my school stuff but something has got to give. I didn’t even get a chance to update my Sunday Post for this week, so that is all messed up. Uggh, I need a break.
    Have a good week.
    Mary

  7. Lorna

I think one of the ladies I live with has strep as well. If not she’s got the worse sore throat. I feel sorry for you. January’s are not your friend! Feel better!

    • Kimberly

Eek…she should get tested. First it is contagious and two dangerous if left untreated. Apparently the flu this year has a sore throat as a major symptom.

  8. Angie Elle

I’m sorry that you are sick and hope the stronger meds help.

Oh, man. The Bride Test! I would be diving right into that one.

    Thanks for sharing.

  9. Sophie

I am so sorry about your sore throat Kimberly! I hope you’ll get better soon! And ….OMG you got the Bride Test! I am so not green with jealousy right now!!!

  10. Ruby @ Ruby's Books

Wow three Januarys in a row? Also, bad facebook! they shouldn’t do that, that is mean! Feel better soon. I do think there’s something in the air though, even across continents, because I too have a nasty flu that if it doesn’t go away, it will suck my soul out. I’ve read very few books so far, just 3. Hopefully I’ll catch up starting next week, or at least as soon as my flu breaks up with me. Have a great week and I hope you get well soon 🙂

I am so sorry about the flu. I got the flu shot but a nasty strain is going around that it didn’t cover. Boo, Get better soon Ruby!

  11. Abby

I hope you feel better soon! It’s never fun being sick, especially when it’s so cold out.

  12. Stormi Johnson

Sorry to hear you are still sick and that mean ole facebook reminding you of your sicknesses, shame on it. 🙂 Hope you get to feeling better soon! At least you are getting in some great audio time! 🙂

I am so very sorry you have been sick. I hate that so I am never sick. I do recommend lots of fluids. I had strep once (March 18, 1997) and it was horrid. I was miserable. I hope you feel amazing again very soon.

You have lots of great reviews coming up this week. I love them but they also often add to my TBR which is getting unwieldy. Anne – Books of My Heart

    • Kimberly

I have not had strep since i was a teen in the early 80’s. I don’t remember it being this painful but holy shite, it’s like I swallowed crushed glass.

  14. Jolene Wilson

Sorry you are still sick. I work in a school and there are lots of sore throats and fever going around. Hope you kick its butt soon.

    • Kimberly

Eek! I saw a lot of folks with the flu and apparently this year’s has a sore throat, but I tested negative. Again the flu shot doesn’t cover the strain we are seeing.

  15. A Voracious Reader

This is all my fault. I’ve been so busy with Artemis that I slacked off on my {{{posivibes}}}. I’ll do better, I promise! 😀

Oh, those Facebook memories are sometimes funny, sometimes sweet, sometimes bittersweet, and sometimes f*ck off FB. lol

  16. Melissa (My World...in words and pages)

Oh no! Hope you feel better. And the little ones are adorable. Take care!

  17. Nick

Have you tried any non-Western/ayurvedic medicine for your health, Kim? I know they may not be for everyone, but they helped my dad get rid of a chronic condition a few years ago. I read The Bride Test and really loved it. Enjoy your books, and feel better soon, Kim.

    • Kimberly

I have done acupuncture to help with my arthritis and once I tried something for colds and ended up making my blood pressure rise..oops. I am open to trying them, I just consult my doctor first to be sure nothing in them will negate my meds. I am glad you enjoyed the Bride Test. I DNFed one of my most highly anticipated romances and I am nervous!

  18. Natalie @Natflix&Books

Hope you feel better soon! I had a nasty cold over New Years, but nothing as serious as strep. The Bride Test is on my TBR. It looks like a fun one. Happy reading!

    • Kimberly

Me too. I should have known because in-between doses of the previous antibiotic my throat would hurt again. Ah well.

    • Kimberly

My Doctor informs me I overdo it for the holidays and run myself down and in return send out invitations to all the viruses that there is a party at my house!

  19. Lola

I hope you can shake the strep throat soon, sorry to hear you’re still dealing with that. I also listened quite a bit this week as my audiobook was awesome and I struggled to find the right kind of read in my ipad. Have a great week!

    • Kimberly

Hi Aleen. Thank you. My throat feels a little better today and I am finally draining..which while unpleasant is a good thing.

  20. sjhigbee

Urg… so sorry to hear you aren’t shaking off that throat infection. Hopefully, now you have changed your medication, you’ll be able to get back your bounce – easier said than done with two small children to care for… but do try to get some rest, Kimberly.

As for Facebook – aren’t they the giddy limit?? I personally LOATHE their grotty little habit of arbitarily reminding me of memories, without taking the time to ask first. I hope the coming week is a lot betterx

  21. Nicci @ Sunny Buzzy Books

It sucks you’re still ill. 🙁 I hope this week is the week you can finally say ‘better!’.
Enjoy your audios. I’ve just started my first book of the audiobook challenge and much to my surprise, I’m enjoying it! Audiobooks have not been my friend in the past.

Oh no!! I hope you feel better! It is strange how if your immune system is lacking you get sick and if it is “too strong” it will attack itself then it is a toss up on what nasty autoimmune system disorder you will get. I hope you feel lots better soon. A lot of people I know are either getting sick with stuff like the flu, and other people are getting autoimmune system crap. I wonder what is up with that? lol

    • Kimberly

I have an autoimmune issue, which makes me more likely to catch things. In those virus dystopias we read about ….i will be in the first wave that die. LOL

  23. Rachel

Hey Kimberly! Gosh, strep throat can really sideline you! Hope you feel better!

I really want to read The Bride Test after loving The Kiss Quotient! Hope we both enjoy it. 🙂

  24. Tika

Strep throat is the absolute worst! I just got over a terrible cold and it just started snowing today, so I’m pretty much crossing my fingers and toes that I don’t get sick again. You seem to still be on a roll though, you have some great posts lined up for the week and I see that you received The Bride Test, I can’t wait to see what you think about it. Hopefully, you’ll feel all better soon, stay warm!

    • Kimberly

I am hoping the Bride Test rocks..I adored her first book. Strep is awful. I don’t remember it hurting so much when I was a teen.

    • Kimberly

I am sorry too..LOL The Doctor said they are seeing some resistant strands. I am hoping this works and will hopefully see relief in the next 48 hours.

  25. Siran

Facebook is going to give us many reminders whether we want them or not. When I felt like I was getting sick I drank the Emergen-C. I don’t swear by it but it help me. I hope you feel better.

    • Kimberly

Fixed the typos for you *winks* Yes, I’ve used Emergen-C myself and found it helps with the common cold.

  26. Greg

I can’t believe it either about January. Time’s flying in the new year! And wow you have had quite the strep throat! I hope you are better soon. And stay warm- if it’s anywhere near as cold there as it is here!

I’m thinking of trying Dannika Dark at some point, and looking forward to the Au Pair as well!

    • Kimberly

Strep is painful. I haven’t had it since I was a teen, but apparently my Doctor said it’s been prevalent and persistent. Love Dark! I hope you do. Start with the Mageri series.

  27. Vinny

Feel better soon, Kimberly! And I’m looking forward to read your review of The Au Pair. It’s one of my most anticipated for this year!
