Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.  See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

Wow time is flying. I cannot believe this is the last Sunday in October and that in just two short weeks the #HoHoHoRAT begins!   So the Royals wanted to be police officers for Halloween, and Mr. Caffeinated and I ordered their costumes for them. I ordered them through Amazon. Princess Sophia’s came from a company called Dress Up America . It is so cute. See radom pic below. If your kids love to make believe and dress up, look up their outfits. The quality and detail are wonderful and let’s face it, you can spend $30 on a costume at the Halloween store that is shoddy quality. This is one they will get to use for years to come. We will be having our traditional bonfire and handing out small kids toys and candy on Halloween. Everyone is coming here for pizza beforehand. I am finally attacking the backlog of reviews. I had eleven posts sitting in draft and spent all afternoon Saturday catching up!  I scheduled my first post for 2019..so go me! Stay Caffeinated.

Oh – hit reply too soon. The Royals look great for their Halloween night. Your new books look good, especially Newness and Wonder.

  2. MarthaE

Hi Kim- I am three weeks out of touch after losing power 10/10. I’ll be taking a look at your past reading posts. Happy Reading!

  3. Lorna

Those costumes are great. I can’t even believe how big the children are now! And YAY for getting a start on 2019. I can’t even get around to writing a review due next week. I think my age is catching up with me. So behind on things. Have fun Halloweet!

  4. Tyler H. Jolley

Your grandchildren are adorable, I don’t recall seeing a pic of them prior to this. And great deal on those costumes, they look well constructed. Hope you guys have a happy Halloween!

  5. RO

Very cool that that the kiddies wanted to be police officers this year, and they look absolutely adorable! All your festivities make me wish I was there! Hugs and Happy Monday! RO

  6. Laura @ Library of Clean Reads

You are one organized lady! I like when I have posts prepared ahead of time and I’m trying to make it a habit. Those costumes are awesome. My kids would be in lots if plays when they were young and I had my share of making costumes. It was fun to see them transform into character. Enjoy your new books. I’ve read that Kelley Armstrong’s thriller books are really good.

  7. ShootingStarsMag

Your grand kids are so cute -I love those little police officer costumes. Ooh I could go for a bonfire right about now. Happy Halloween!

    -Lauren

  8. Nise'

Absolutely adorable little police people! Have fun with your celebration. I will be with my mom in sunny Florida this year. Looking forward to Watcher in the Woods! Have a great week.

  9. Stefanie

Your grandchildren are adorable. What fun they’ll have this Halloween. What great plans you have in store.

    • Kimberly

Awe thanks Jen. To be clear though the Royals are my grandbabies. My babies are 27, 25 and 24. Hehe…my son and his girlfriend dressed up as The Man in the Yellow Suit and Curious George.

      • Jen

Oh!! fun times!! I’ve got a 12 and 15 year old. The teen boy is not into dressing up this year.

  10. Sophia Rose

Oh yes, those are adorable costumes and the people inside them.

I’m finding it hard to believe its the end of October, too. Way to go getting your postings caught up and even one for the new year. I’ve been getting my list ready for HoHoHoRAT. 🙂

Have a great week and a wonderful Halloween get together, Kimberly!

    • Kimberly

They really are. You can hardly tell but the boy is sporting a nasty shiner from climbing where he shouldn’t.

  11. Tanya @ Rantings of a Reading Addict

Those babies are SO adorable in their costumes! I had not planned on giving out treats because with all the dogs in the house, the constant chaos of them going nuts everytime the doorbell rang would drive me insane. But, I’m contemplating sitting outside for an hour or two so the kiddos don’t have to ring the bell. We’ll have to see though as it is supposed to rain. Have a great Halloween!

    • Kimberly

Hehe. My November and December are almost done. I have books I am reading or #HoHoHoRAT that will fall into the open slots.

  12. sjhigbee

Ahh… don’t they look adorable – and you’re right – the costumes are clearly good quality. I need to get hold of Watcher in the Woods as I enjoyed the first two books in the series and I really enjoy her writing. I hope the Halloween party is a success and the rain holds off. Have a great week, Kimberly.

  13. Angela

Adorable the Royals. I hope they have a great Halloween. I know I can’t believe that Oct is almost over and we only have 2 months left in 2018. WOW the year has flown by. I like your book haul. Hope you enjoy! Happy Reading

  14. Kristin (Book Sniffers Anonymous)

That sounds like so much fun, and the kids look great! I agree, the costumes you find at Halloween shops are poorly made and way over-priced. I try to come up with my own and use articles of clothing that I might have a purpose for later one. I hope you guys have a blast this Halloween.

    • Kimberly

We did that I can remember making all the kids bumble bees one year and dinosaurs. We did things like old lady with a walker too.

  15. Lillian @ Mom with a Reading Problem

The Royals make adorable police officers! Mine wanted to be Darth Vader this year. Honestly I’m surprised it took him this long to ask to be that 😉 Go you!!!! I have SO many backlog reviews to write that I’m embarrassed to admit the number. BUT once I start writing them, I should have plenty to last me through the new year as well. Hope you have a great week!

Good luck getting them done 🙂 I usually am never more than 2 behind. I thought 7 was bad but if you won’t say..eep!

  16. Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard

Those costumes are adorable! I alternated between buying and making costumes. I bought a great Pooh costume at Goodwill that had probably only been worn once, and Robin wore it for about three years. I made a Piglet costume for the baby doll so they matched. After that, I made a princess costume for Robin one year and a Dorothy costume another year. Then we hit the Harry Potter years and Robin was Hermione for about 5 years in a row, which made things easy. 🙂 I love theater and costuming so I think I had as much fun with the costumes as Robin did!

I am always amazed at how organized you are with your blogging. Sometimes I’ve been able to get a few weeks ahead, but it just hasn’t been happening this year. Scheduling into 2019? That’s impressive, my friend!

I have to work on Halloween night. First Halloween I think I have ever missed but my kids are too old to trick or treat. I do like to see the neighbor kids all dressed up though. Have a great week.

  18. Northwoman

They are wonderful in their costumes. I sewed many of my daughter’s costumes. The worst experience was with a Simplicity pattern for Aurora. The pieces didn’t match and it required SO much fabric, horsehair binding and another thing for boning. It was over $50 and time-consuming with 8 gores in the skirt. Gorgeous when finished though. I also made her a 1940s pantsuit and messenger bag to be Nancy Drew. She still uses the messenger bag.

Oh the audio is already available for Watcher in the Woods – I want it! I also won a print copy of Fatal Agreements. I’m excited for both of those. You have some great reads ahead!

I have been doing Blog Ahead. So I have some 2019 posts. This week was a sort of fail but I hope to fix that tomorrow. I had to finish up October posts. I worked on some ahead but they are not quite finished. Anne – Books of My Heart

    • Kimberly

I sewed ,many of my children’s costumes too, but yes sometimes it was cheaper to buy 🙂 I always blog ahead. It keeps me sane.

  19. A Voracious Reader

Oh.Em.Gee! Those costumes are adorable! I have 6 reviews to write up and I still need to draft the rest of my November posts. I’ll just keep plodding along. As always. LOL I hope you have a fabulous week, Kim!

  20. Jan @ Notes from a Readerholic

The Royals are so cute, Kimberly. I love their costumes. Sounds like you have lots of fun on Halloween so I hope that’s the case this year, too. So good you have your reviews scheduled. I’m working on that. I have quite a few I just need to proofread so I need to do that. Also a few still to write–definitely need to get busy with that!

I hope you have a great week!

    • Kimberly

It feels good to be caught up. I usually write and schedule after reading and never have more than 2 to write..but between the thon and my friend things got backlogged.

  21. Mary @StackingMyBookShelves!

Oh my, they are adorable. I love the costumes! Mine I don’t think are going this year – they usually go with a group of friends and a mom. This year I will not be able to take them as I have classes that day. One of mine is a cat and the other a panda. You are rocking the posts. Go you! I have to try to play catch up today and tomorrow.

    Mary

  22. Suzanne @ The Bookish Libra

Those Halloween costumes are precious! And yay for scheduling your first post of 2019. That is super impressive. I’ve also got all of my reads lined up for HoHoHoRat and can’t wait to get started 🙂

  23. Samantha

Oh they are so cute!!! And they look so grown up now! I can’t believe it! I feel like you were just talking about their births last week!
Hope you guys have an awesome Halloween!

They are both so grown up now! Time needs to slow down. Your Halloween bonfire sounds like a fun event. Hope you enjoy.
    Have a good weekend!

  25. Natalie @Natflix&Books

Those really do look like great quality costumes. They look adorable! Hope the bonfire is fun. I’ve been debating about snagging My Lovely Wife. It looks pretty good. Happy reading!

  26. Stormi Johnson

Oh my! They are so adorable and I hadn’t realized how big Sophia has gotten! Great costumes! Sounds like you guys will have a cool Halloween! I will be sitting at home watching the classic Wolfman, that’s my tradition…lol. We live to far out in the country so we don’t have to worry about little ones coming to us for candy (thank goodness) 🙂

  27. Lover Of Romance

Hope you all had fun for Halloween!! I normally just do some homemade chili and bread and watch Watcher in the Woods (old version) and Blackbeards Ghost. Its what we would always do growing up and so I try to keep up the tradition even if I live on my own.

  28. Darlene

Love the Halloween costumes! They look adorable. My older daughter is going as Freddy Krueger and my younger daughter is going as a cowboy with one of those inflatable costumes that look like she’s riding a horse! It looks very cool!

Congrats on blogging ahead! I can’t seem to get my act together to even blog a week ahead. I’m trying to get a lot of stuff done around the house and yard before the snow hits the ground, so maybe once that’s finished I can *try* to get some scheduled!

I love seeing the Christmas books coming out! I really need to try Armstrong’s Casey Duncan series. Have a great week!

The cowboy horse thing sounds like a lot of fun! My grown son and his girl were the man in the yellow hat and Curious George.

  29. Michelle @Because Reading

They look so cute! My daughters costume was rather crappy but I had to adjust a few things to make it work better. She looked cute at her trunk or treat.
I wish we had kids that walked around here but the area isn’t nice to walk around when it gets dark. I am hoping to force the kids out for at least an hour to walk around but they both aren’t feeling it this year.

Yay! For being ahead, I have a few posts that I need to finish up today and have a few for next year. It so nice to have stuff done ahead of time. I am still working on the next few weeks.

Have a great week, Kim! Happy Reading!

    • Kimberly

Awe that is a shame, yeah we are in suburbia with well lite sidewalks and get a nice flow of kiddy traffic. Truth be told, I think folks from other areas come into the neighborhood.

  30. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Aww! Their costumes are so cute! It’s great that you found good quality costumes! It can be hard to do that unless you can make them yourself! Very nice!

Yay for new reads! Lots of Kelley’s book going around this week! I sooo want to read that one! I might have to try requesting a copy too!

    Happy Reading!

    Here’s my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

    • Kimberly

I agree, although sometimes when I made my kids costumes they ended up costing more than I could have bought them for..lol

  31. Lola

The Royals look great in their costumes and that’s awesome you found a good company for Sophia’s costume. Congrats on scheduling your first 2019 post :). I still have a few reviews I need to schedule, but at least I wrote the actual reviews already. Have a great week!

  32. hillary

I need to get a move on with scheduling my posts. Now that my brain is working again it should be easier

    • Kimberly

Oh I did it yesterday Maureen. My arse still hurts from spending almost 7 hours in my computer chair..but I am back on top of things!

    • Kimberly

Yes. I cannot believe the Royals will turn 4 and 2 in the next few months. Before ya know it they will be off to school and not coming to Nonna’s every day 🙁

  33. Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookworms

Those Halloween costumes are so precious – as are the Royals! So cute 🙂

You have a post scheduled for 2019? Now? How?? Brandee and I are both slacking lately, so we have one post scheduled for next week, and that’s it 😀

We changed time this weekend, so we have fallen back – it was nice to sleep in a little bit this morning, but I’m going to hate the early sunset for sure.

Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading! <3

We change next week. I am ready 🙂 LOL, I have Nov and December scheduled and read a few books and added them to Jan calendar.

  34. Trish @ Between My Lines

Costumes are fab, too cute! And look how fast they are growing up. I clicked on My Lovely Wife and read the blurb, sounds very promising. Will look forward to your review.

      • Trish

I’m actually doing a blog post tomorrow for a blog tour. But I’m mostly going to be on FB I think. I’m enjoying it, and it’s so much quicker to hop on there.

    • Kimberly

Not completely scheduled. Most of November is done, except for the holiday reads I am saving for the HoHoHoRAT and I’ve got a lot of December filled in and one or two posts for January. About 30 posts are scheduled.

    • Kimberly

Ha, I think it is more that the little leader told him he was going to be her partner! He isn’t very vocal, but when the Princess said he wants to be my partner and I asked him if he wanted to be a police officer too? He nodded. So there ya go.

  35. Michelle @ In Libris Veritas

Super cute pic!! I’m not sure what my niece will be for Halloween, she has so many dress up clothes (I went overboard, lol). I think she might be going as Doc McStuffins, which is super cute. I need to do some catching up on my review backlog and get some things scheduled for next month.

I hope you have a good week this week!

    • Kimberly

The Royals love Doc McStuffin. We have the outfit and station. Have fun this week and good luck catching up.

  36. Jackie Briere

Those costumes are great and your grandkids look so cute in them. I hope they have the best Halloween.
Your scheduled posting is enviable. My reading and reviews are all over the place ugh.

Super cute pic! We almost always order through Amazon as well. And congrats on scheduling your first post for 2019! That is awesome!!! Have a happy Halloween and fabulous week!

    • Kimberly

Thanks Tressa. This is my first time ordering Dress Up America. They’ve got so many neat dress-up outfits.

    • Kimberly

The Princess likes to play cop. She will write tickets if we ride our bike too fast. She likes to play pirates too which led to stealing treasure and making arrests. She puts said thief in jail and set a time out button..LOL

  38. Laurel-Rain Snow

How adorable those Royals look in their costumes! I am also eyeing your new books, and I’ve been noticing Watcher in the Woods.

    Enjoy your week!

  39. Greg

Have a great Halloween! Pizza and a bonfire sound great! And that’s good to know about the costumes- you’re so right about the Halloween store quality.

Wow the HoHoHo RAT is coming up soon! Holidays are on the way ha ha!

    • Kimberly

The costumes are designed for dress-up. I am hoping to get her a few more. What the little guy can’t wear, I will pass on to a preschool.
