We are in the midst of #FraterfestRAT and I am hoping to snuggle up with a spooky read today. For those partaking be sure and enter challenges, follow hosts and look for my pop-up giveaways on Caffeinated’s social media pages! (you can win fun prizes)

Folks, I need a boat. It has rained or been dreary and overcast all week again. When the sun did come out, I felt like a vampire as I screeched at this unknown source of light!  It’s good for reading but the Royals long to play in the grass or head to the park. We are expecting rain/snow today. WTF?!? Stay Caffeinated!

I know it’s still early, but I am need of three hosts for the #HoHoHoRAT. If you would like to offer up a challenge with small INT prize, please email. I can help you with ideas.

Sounds like a good way to start the Halloween season, rain and dreary weather. Isn’t that how so many horror movies start out? We went from way above average temps to quite a bit below average in day. It seems all my review books came right as I was gearing up for some horror stories. I’m hoping to get at least one more in before Halloween.

Dang it! I really wanted to participate in FraterFest but this month has just gotten away from me! I was in Oregon/Washington last week with my son doing his last college visits. We missed snow while we were gone – enjoying sunshine in the rainy PNW – but Mother Nature saved up ~8 inches for us yesterday. So we got a day in front of the fire. I hope your weather clears up some if only so the Royals can get some outside time. Have a great week!

  3. Tyler H. Jolley

Yeah, it’s been pretty rainy and gray here too. I have an epic mountain bike trip planned and need to train. The rain has been making it impossible. We should be having good weather this week, fingers crossed! I hope yours is sunny and warm!

  4. ERK ?

At our place, it has cooled down quite a lot in the past two days. The weather here is confusing as sometimes I feel like the sweat beads may trickle down any moment and at others, I want to just sit huddled in a blanket ? Snow ? We never get snow, and I have never seen snow in my life ? Enjoy your day and week!

YES..that is it exactly! Thankfully the snow has melted and we are drying out..but hot and cold all around. Wow on never seeing snow. I will confess I did miss it when we lived in states without, but you get over it. Except at Christmas. Christmas snow is magical. LOL

  5. Aj @ Read All The Things!

I haven’t been able to do any of the Fraterfest challenges, but I have finished a book. I’m hoping to start another one tonight. Have a great week. I hope the sun comes out soon.

  6. Nise'

Hopefully, it will dry out for a few days in your area. We had on and off rain so it wasn’t too bad. Always look forward to a Jill Shalvis book.

  7. Danielle Chapman

It has been raining here as well. In fact, it is supposed to start again in a few minutes and this time it brings the cold temps with it! I am trying to dig out my warm clothes right now… 🙂

Stay safe and warm this week!

  8. Laura @ Library of Clean Reads

Yeah…it’s been raining here a lot too. I hate it. The minute the sun is out and it’s nice, I’m out on my bike but it looks like I’ll have to store my bike for the winter soon. Enjoy your new books. How Do You Take a Bath looks adorable!

  9. Sophia Rose

Yeah, I heard folks out west were already getting snow. That is whacked! But neat that it makes for a cozy inside setting for FraterfestRAT. I’ve been enjoying the challenges and reading.

Some nice lovelies in the haul this week, too.

Take care this next week! 🙂

    • Kimberly

Wacked indeed. In the 13+years we have lived here the earliest we’ve seen snow as Halloween and the latest May 9th.

  10. Angela

Great book haul. Living in CA we don’t get much rain… It’s been a non-rainy seasons. Our weather has been warmer then usual and I’m glad that it’s going to be cooling down this week at least. The #FraterfestRAT has been fun, with some really good challenges, though I haven’t gotten the reading in that I would have liked, still fun!

  11. Northwoman

It was 90 (30C) hot and sunny, then 2 hurricanes. Now it’s 60 (12C?) and I had to turn on the heat this morning since it is like 40 (5C) at night. What happened to autumn? Well the branches and leaves are all over the yard to clean up after the hurricane.

Ooo you got Playing for Keeps! Enjoy Anne – Books of My Heart

Send us your rain; I wouldn’t mind it at all. Yeah, kids can get antsy indoors especially if they’re younger. Why not a scavenger hunt at Grandma’s or put up painter’s tape so they can climb over or crawl under like spies?

  13. Tressa @ Wishful Endings

We’ve had quite a bit of rain too, but I’ve loved it. Great reading weather and cooler temps, which we need. But, I also get your grandchildren wanting to go out and play. Happy reading!

  14. Lindsi

We haven’t had too much rain (that was last week), but it’s supposed to get cold starting tomorrow! I’m so excited for jackets and boots, fires and hot chocolate, books and snuggles — ahh. Fall and winter are my jam! If I had a boat I would lend it to you!

I’ve already emailed you about being a challenge host for the HoHoHo Readathon. I’ve been working on my post, if you want me to email you additional details.

    Lindsi @ Do You Dog-ear?

    • Kimberly

I use to love fall and winter but now summer is my jam. LOL I do love bonfires and snuggling by the fire though. It just won’t venture outdoors for long.

  15. sherry fundin

I do not miss the snow…AT ALL! If I want to see it, I’ll look at old pictures or watch the Weather Channel . 🙂 Hurricane Michael has moved on and I am thankful it did nothing more than trim some trees and create giant waves in our neck of the woods.. I feel bad for those in Panama City and Mexico Beach. Right now, the sun is shining and the pool is sparkling clean.

You already know how jealous of your snow I am! 🙂 Snow because xmas is always magic we never get snow until after xmas. I am pretty sure it’s going to rain and just be grey forever now. lol I don’t mind too much but I do enjoy the fall/winter sun better than the summer sun.

Have a great week, Kim! Happy Reading! ox

October 14th and it’s already snowing there? Is that normal? We’ve been having so much rain lately. But it brought in a cold front so it finally feels like Fall. Turned the heat on for the first time this morning. It’s time for homemade soup and stew in the crockpot. Enjoy your week Kimberly!

    • Kimberly

We’ve been here 13 years and our first year it snowed on Halloween. Typically snow begins after Thanksgiving and can go as late as May 9th!

  18. Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard

I hope you get a taste of sunshine soon! It’s raining here today, too, which I wasn’t expecting. It’s the sort of day that I wish I could cuddle up and read, but I’ve got two rehearsals to run first—which I love doing, so I’m not complaining!

    • Kimberly

Yes, it has been that way here. Today the sun is finally out. Hopefully we dry out a little and the snow melts.

  19. Mary @StackingMyBookShelves!

I feel the same about the rain. All it seems to do and I think more is coming our way from Michael. Ughh what can you do? Have a wonderful week. I have to go check out some reviews this week as I have missed them.

    Mary

    • Kimberly

Yep, we have broken all sorts of records for days with rain etc, and other parts of the world desperately need it.

  20. Daniela Ark

Yeah! spooky reads are the best! I’m watching a lot of creepy TV shows too. 🙂 UGH yes the weather has been dreadful! Hope you get to lay in the grass with the ROyals soon Kim!

  21. Kristin (Book Sniffers Anonymous)

It sounds like you are getting some interesting weather. We got a night of rain the other night and woke up to chaos. Roads washed out and closed, hail covering the ground making it look like winter, and vehicles half buried under sand from being in a location where a wash came through. I think it was the most excitement this little desert town has had in a very long time.

Wow…that was quite a night. We ended up losing our power for a spell and got about 3 inches on grassy surfaces. Most has melted,

  22. Jan @ Notes from a Readerholic

I hear you about the rain, Kimberly! We’re getting lots here, too. There was snow flurries in our area this last week though I didn’t see any.

I hope you enjoy your reading this week and that you get some sunshine!

  23. Melissa (My World...in words and pages)

Oh my. Snow!?! That’s crazy and so fast. We had a crazy temperature drop too. The weather was so drastic! I wasn’t ready yet. lol. Have a great week.

  24. A Voracious Reader

I really wish we could all send our rain to California. It sucks. Luckily, after Michael blew through here, the sun came out so we could begin cleaning up the mess he left behind. I hope you get a sunny week this week, Kim!

  25. Tonyalee

I’ve some others are getting snow! I want snow. but the adult in me knows that since we shut down when there’s even a trace, I’d prefer not to have it!

I emailed about helping with #HoHoHoRAT!

    Have a great week 🙂

  26. Suzanne @ The Bookish Libra

I hear you on the rain. I’m so beyond over it at this point. We had a few dry days but then got hammered by the remnants of Hurricane Michael. It’s not raining now but it’s just dreary. Here’s hoping for some sunshine for all of us soon!

  27. RacheLeanne

Sorry to hear you’ve had such horrible weather, it’s been really dark all week here too. At this point, I’m starting to think daylight doesn’t exist. Is it a myth? It does give me an excuse to curl up under a blanket though and watch an October hallmark movie (and maybe a Christmas one…. but that’s a secret) and catch up on some reading. I hope your weather starts to improve soon!

Constant rain can be hard. It was so hot here on Mon and then dropped over 30 by yesterday. No snow yet, though, I think 99 Percent Mine will be fun. Happy reading!

    • Kimberly

I just posted pics of our current snowfall on social media. It is much to early for it. I am not at all happy with Mother Nature at the moment.

  29. Ailyn Koay

it’s raining cats and dogs here in Adelaide too! I am happy because apparently Australia is in for another year of drought. Hope you get better weather soon

  30. Pixireads

Weather here was nice, then it got cold. My husband just left for work and I could see his breath. I hope you get the chance to enjoy the spooky read you are looking forward to.

  31. sjhigbee

Oh no! All that rain sounds miserable – if the autumn is grotty is enlongates the winter so… Here’s hoping it’s a blip and that rain/snow forecast is a mistake! Our weather forecasts these days are dreadfully unreliable – much worse than when I was younger! In the meantime, have a good reading week, Kimberly.

    • Kimberly

Yes..exactly. It already feels like February when it’s dark every day. Of course its not -22 with howling winds but yeah. If this is an early indicator winter might be brutal this year.

  32. Bookworm

Hi lady I hope it’s stops raining. Omg snow already? At least it’ll look pretty 🙂 happy reading , the shapeshifter paranormal romance anthology looks interesting. Enjoy your week!

  33. Tanya @ Girl Plus Books

Rain and snow today? What is this strange stuff you speak of? It’s supposed to hit 90 here today. At least yours is great reading weather! 🙂 Seeing that Sally Thorne book reminds that The Hating Game is still sitting *unread* on my bookshelf. Need to get to that one soon!

Rain a lot here in Iowa too. Looking forward to the Black Friday Book Bonanza. That is my favorite Bonanza! Have a great week with all your books. I hope to finish a couple on my TBR list this week.

  35. Lola

We had some beautiful sunny weather and some warmer days too. Usually it’s all rain here during autumn, so it’s lovely to have some nice days. I hope you get some dry days without any rain soon.

  36. Maureen Bakker

Yikes! Rain and snow?! I’m so not ready for that kind of weather yet. Here it is supposedly the last ‘summer’ weekend of the year. We went for a walk just to get as much sun as we could.
    Enjoy Fraterfest! Happy reading. 😉

Rain and snow?? :O wow. It’s still sunny out here! Actually, we’re getting the Indian summer now and it’s like a cool summer’s day now. We have to close the blinds or the apartment will get too hot! But I’m sure the autumn weather isn’t going to be long now.

  38. Lynn

I hope you’ll enjoy 99 Percent Mine! The Hating Game is one of my favourite books and I hope Thorne’s next book will live up to my expectations.

    Have a wonderful week!

  39. Jovita @ Inky Impressions

I’m sure the Royals will enjoy playing in the snow 🙂 It was beautiful here today, in the 70’s, but a cold front has moved in this evening and it’s cold. We should get snow tomorrow.

Enjoy all your Fraterfest reads 🙂

    • Kimberly

If only it were the kind that accumulated. It’s snowing like a thunderstorm with wind, rain mixed in and its completely dark out.

    • Kimberly

There are challenges on host’s blogs, there is an instagram challenge and a few pop-up challenges you will find on my social media pages. Good luck!

  40. Michelle Gilmore

We just came off of the rain here, and it’s finally autumn weather. I’m secretly hoping we get another spike in the heat before I’m subjected to Georgia’s dismal rain filled cold seasons.

I’m enjoying my Fraterfest, though it’s been a bit of a struggle for me to get any reading done. Hopefully, these upcoming days will be better.

  41. Greg

It’s been raining a LOT here too, so I feel your pain. I hope you get some nicer weather. Snow? Just… no. Way too early for that!

Yay for FraterFest! I’ve only done one challenge, I need to get around to the others, but at least the reading is going well haha!

    Have a super week!

  42. Rachel @Waves of Fiction

Hope you get more sunshine soon!

I hope to pick up Fight or Flight this next week so I’ll come by and read your review when I’ve finished. I just joined up for your Black Friday Book Bonanza. Great idea! 🙂
