paranormal ROMANCE howlinggood SUSPENSE

I am always on the lookout for new paranormal romance authors featuring shifters. I decided to try the anthology In the Mood Fur Love. The novel contain three stories from Eve Langlais, Milly Taiden and Kate Baxter. Like most anthologies it was hit and miss, but overall delivered fun, sexy, standalone shifters stories.

  • Bearing His Touch by Eve Langlais: This was my first experience with author. She delivered a bear-shifter romantic suspense and I’d like to try a longer story by her. While the mating bond allowed for a quick romance to develop, the author added in lots of action, suspense and humor in the form of a large bear family. Becka is disoriented and on the run from her kidnapper.  Stavros is a private eye and former police detective who cannot stop himself from helping this damsel in distress. This was fun and I’d be interested in seeing what a full-length novel by this author delivered. Expect humor, a little sexy time and plenty of action 3.5 cups of coffee
  • Fake Mated to the Wolf by Milly Taiden: This wasn’t my first experience with this author, but unfortunately while this had more depth than my first experience, it didn’t feel natural from the baby, this and baby that to the over the top action on the hero’s part.  I loved the premise, suspense angle, and some of the secondary characters, but nope, not for me. Plus the hero’s name was Hawke Hawke. I thought it was an error in the ARC, but it was consistent throughout. How weird is that? Be sure to check other reviews because some of my fellow bloggers and friends loved this one.  2 cups of coffee
  • The Witch, The Werewolf and The Waitress by Kate Baxter: This was by far my favorite story! Baxter captured me from the onset. I loved the little last stop dinner. Ellie’s story, witchcraft and a handsome shifter soon held me spellbound. The flow, chemistry and world felt right. This is a pack I would gladly revisit in a full-length novel or series. 4.5 cups of coffee

In the Mood Fur Love delivered three fun stories and is the perfect anthology to try this fall.

Sound interesting. Anthologies are tricky. Some are great and others difficult if they are related to series I haven’t read or too short to develop the world / characters enough. It’s great to get a feel for authors which are new to you. I’m glad some of them were good for you. Anne – Books of My Heart

Right, but I have discovered some fav authors in fantasy and paranormal this way. These appear to be standalones.

This sounds like a fun anthology, and it is a great way to discover new authors. I have been in the mood for paranormal lately, too. But I seem to be every fall. I had tried Patricia Briggs previously and not cared for the A&O series, but I think it may have been the narrator. So I am giving her another go.

Great review, Kim. I’m glad you found a keeper in the bunch!

It was. Though I recently listened to the prequel, and I think that may have been Graham, too, and it wasn’t too bad. I may try starting them in audio again. I listened when I was first getting into audio, and he was one of the first male narrators I listened to.

I’m glad to see this is a paranormal romance, because at first glance the cover made me a little, um, confused. Haha. Nice review, Kimba.

Looks like a mixed bag. I’ve struggled with Taiden’s books and novellas before. I’ve never read Kate Baxter. I have an earlier antho these three and this reminds me to get busy and read it. 😉

I think for Baxter’s story alone this was a good one, and I enjoyed the first, Langlais knows how to write a novella.

Still not sure what to make of the title. It certainly made me chuckle, not necessarily a good thing when I’m supposing to be thinking hot and sexy. Then again, it certainly got my attention.

Despite the fact I’m not a fan of anthologies, this does pique the imagination and is therefore a collection I could see myself actually reading.

Gosh I haven’t read anything from this genre in a looong time! I do know ELanglais is always a good time, she’s one of those rare ones who can write a shorty but still packs the punch.
