We got our flu shot on Wednesday. Thursday by mid-morning I was dying with flu like symptoms. I thought it was the flu shot, but the little Prince became sick too, so we caught some kind of bug. While I recovered in twenty-four hours he did not. Poor little guy. Other than that it was a pretty uneventful week. Reading, sleeping, Royals and coffee. Hope the week ahead rocks for you. Stay Caffeinated!

ugh yeah I hate that side affects of the flu shot I don’t get them but my kinds do. Hope you are feeling better by now! Goodluck with the Fraterfest redathon!
Melanie Simmons
I got the flu shot last week too and it did some strange things to me. I’ve gotten it every years for like 15 years and never had a reaction like this. I had a co-worker who had issues too. There must be something with the shot this year. Still worth it in my mind. I hope you’re feeling better.
Rachel
Sorry you were feeling sick! Hope you feel better. I will probably be getting the flu shot today….
Tyler H. Jolley
“Reading, sleeping, Royals and coffee,” sounds like a great week! I hope your first week of fall is awesome, Kimba!
Lorna
Poor little guy. I hate to see little one sick. Glad you are all better now. I always wait until October for my flu shot. I guess so it will last longer? I dunno.
Tori @ InToriLex

You are just not getting a break this year when it comes to illness! I’m glad you’re feeling better and hopefully all the bugs will leave you and the Royals alone! Loved your review for the Heather Graham! I just finished Pale as Death and am really trying to resist picking up that one too! Hope you’re having a great week!
Brandee @ (un)Conventional Bookworms
I’m glad you’re feeling better and I hope you stay well! I also hope the Prince is doing better. This time of year can suck. My son has been sick since last Thursday. 🙁 I look forward to seeing your thoughts on Time’s Convert and Kill the Queen…both are on my tbr. Have a great week, Kimberly!
Noel
Kill The Queen seems to be getting a lot of love lately, I’ll definitely have to check it out!!
ERK ?
My brother caught the flu yesterday and I think I already am catching it ? I feel even more lethargic than usual. Hope the little Prince recovers soon!❤️
PS: I hate flu ?
Tanya @ Rantings of a Reading Addict
That sucks that you and your grandson got hit with a bug! I’ve been advised to get my flu shot, but I have been putting it off. Need to get it soon before no one has any. That was my doctor’s problem when he wanted to give it to me a couple of week’s ago. They were completely out and didn’t know when they would be able to get more. I hope that isn’t a common thing!
Stefanie
Ugh, getting sick is no fun. Sorry the little suffered more. I hope Time’s Convert is a good read. I’m a big fan of the All Souls Trilogy so much that I own them on Kindle.
vvb
Yay Time’s Convert! Enjoy.
Nise'
Hope you both are feeling better soon and no one else gets sick. It is hard to believe it is time for the Ho Ho Readathon!
Carole @ Carole's Random Life in Books
I hate to hear that you and the little guy were both sick. I have been sneezing like it is a new hobby or something but it is just allergies. Nice new books. I hope to start reading Kill the Queen very soon and am looking forward to it. Have a great week!
MarthaE
Glad you are feeling better. Our office shared that 24 hour bug a couple of weeks ago and my granddaughter and I both had a bad day last week. Thank goodness it passed quickly.
Your new books look really good! Happy Reading.

Oh no! I’m sorry to hear you got sick! I feel lucky that I never get sick after getting the flu shot. (I’m knocking on wood right now, I swear.) I hope this week is less eventful. 🙂
Stephanie Jane (Literary Flits)
Sorry to hear about your bug 🙁
Hope you’re both fully recovered now?

Its the worst to be sick right? I just so don’t like it at all. I am sick for a week when it happens so I do everything I can to avoid it. Hope your family is feeling better and recovered.

You’re just catching everything. Time to beef up the immune system with more garlic, mom would say. LOL
We had a busy week, but a quiet Saturday helped.
That new Jennifer Estep looks good.
Hopefully you’ll get another quiet week with no sick bugs in it for you or the Royals.
Melissa (My World...in words and pages)

Lillian @ Mom with a Reading Problem
I’m sorry you and the little Prince were sick this week. That really sucks! We need to do our Flu shot soon too. My little man had the flu last winter and I do NOT want to do that again. It was a miserable month. Hope you are all feeling better and have a great week!
Jan @ Notes from a Readerholic
Sorry you were sick this last week.. I’m looking forward to the HoHoHo Readathon again. It’s always my favorite of the year. I like that poem, too. I think I will use the poem in some fall cards!
Hope you have a good week, Kimberly.
Yvonne
I have to get my flu shot. I know people who have gotten it and then had flu like symptoms. I never had any problems like that. I hope you and the Prince are feeling better. Have a good week.
Darlene
Your body actually sheds some of the virus after a vaccination,, so it is possible that you and the little Prince did get sick from the flu shot. Glad that you are feeling better now!
I featured Kill the Queen on one of my Can’t-Wait Wednesday posts. It sounds great!! Enjoy!
Shannon @ Absolute Shannonigans
I should probably take the kids to go get their flu shots… and mine.
Sorry the little one is sick. Hopefully he gets better soon, if he hasn’t already.
Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
Figures that as soon as you get the flu shot you get sick. Hope the little one feels better!
Tonyalee
Bummer about being sick!! I’m glad everyone is mostly feeling better, though!
Kill the Queen looks interesting. I have check that one out!
Natalie @Natflix&Books
Ugh! It’s definitely the beginning of that season. I always get super sick twice a year. Once in the fall and once in the spring. I still need to read The Discovery of Witches, but I’ve heard good things about her books. Happy reading!
Jessica @ a GREAT read
Ugh. I’m trying to avoid getting sick myself. The weather is changing around us and that sometimes mean a chance of catching something! I take cold prevention medicine every now and then when I think my throat tickles in a way that’s not normal! Lol! Hope the little Prince is doing better!
Yay for new reads! I loved Kill the Queen! It was a fun read and I can’t wait to see where Jennifer takes the series! Happy Reading!
Here’s my STS

I got my flu shot Friday at work. I’ve gotten the shot for the past 20 years and no flu for 22. I hope you are all feeling great this week. Uneventful is good. Enjoy your books! Anne – Books of My Heart

Sorry to hear you caught some sort of bug. That’s good you recovered quickly, but I am sorry to hear the Prince was sick longer.

Michelle @Because Reading
Sorry to hear you weren’t feeling well and the little prince was sick! 🙁 I hope you are all feeling better now!
We normally don’t get the flu shot but I always want my husband to get it since he has MS and last year got sick a few times. So I hope he goes.
I hope you have a great week, Kim! Feel Better and Happy Reading! 🙂 ox
Deb Nance at Readerbuzz
My great-grandmother was in her nineties and her doctor encouraged her to get a flu shot. She took the flu from the shot and died of it.
That has always made me a bit hesitant about getting the shot.
Kristin @ AddictedtoHEA
Oh man, I hope the little Prince is better today. Well, at least you’re all better, huh? But man, keeping liquids in a little one is tough. UGH. Hope y’all are doing okay over there…
Hope you have cool, fall weather over there now b/c I’m freezing this morning. Happy Sunday! Hope you have a nice quiet week!! btw… I posted today o.O
Angela Adams
Sorry to hear you and the “little prince” had a tough week. Hope by the time you read this week’s comments, you’re both feeling better!
RacheLeanne
Sorry to hear you have all been feeling under the weather, I hope you are all feeling better now though.
Nicci @ Sunny Buzzy Books
So glad it wasn’t the actual flu! Sucks that you and your grandson fell ill though. 🙁
Is it sad that I’m really excited for the Ho-Ho-Ho readathon this year? I think it’s because I have so many nice holiday themed reads to get stuck into but don’t feel I can read them until at least November! 🙂
trin carl
Thanks for the heads up on the bookish libra and her discussion on Why You Should Give Audiobooks Another Chance Even If You Think You Dislike Them.” Love, Love, Love audiobooks and I can tell you do too.
Evelina @ AvalinahsBooks
I’ve heard that some people get mildly sick after flu shots. I hope you guys get better soon!
Lindsi
Thankfully it wasn’t the flu! I had that one year and thought I would die. Luckily, the kids have remained healthy and without sniffles, but I’m sure we’ll catch something eventually. Glad you’re feeling better!
Oh, and I saw your comment about icons tags — I bought those from Parajunkee years ago when I had a book blog in college. I only recently stumbled across them when I retrieved an old laptop from my parents house. I started using them on my reviews, but then decided to make my own. I’ve been working on a new set for a few days now, but it’s finally finished! <3
Lindsi @ Do You Dog-ear?

Glad it wasn’t the flu and everyone is back to 100%. Hope the flu shot works too. Can’t wait for the new Shalvis. I am in love with that series.

Had a good week. A lot of reading, writing reviews, messing around the house and enjoying the weather. Hope you have a better week.
Jackie Briere
I have never gotten a flu shot. I’m a pansy, but I’ve never been sick with the flu or cold virus in years, and *I hope it stays that way* but it looks like you got it just in time. Sorry about the little one though. Aww.
I’m taking part in Jennifer Esteps Kill The Queen blog tour on Monday. Nice book hauls too 🙂 I love seeing the Christmas books. Getting ready for the HoHoHo rat huh.
Oh, thanks for the printable Harry Potter Bookmarks! I also linked to a free Halloween booklet you can print out and make. That is a beautiful random poetry fall inspiration. Take care.
Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookworms
I hop the little Royal will feel better soon, Kim! And I’m very happy you only caught a 24 hour bug this time.
Fall in inching in here, too, some trees are timidly changing colors 🙂

I sometimes get symptoms after a flu shot. Glad you recovered from your bug and I hope the little one does soon. Great new books. I had a hard work week but found time to relax, read and do some swimming. Still blistering hot here but leaves are starting to fall.
