Sparks fly when the hot-shot divorce lawyer meets the high-powered wedding planner. The only question is, what kind?

If you ever get married, remember my name: Max Henderson. In my line of work, you acquire a certain perspective on supposedly everlasting unions. . . .

1. Pre-nups are your friend.
2. The person you married is not the person you’re divorcing.
3. And I hope you didn’t spend much on the wedding because that was one helluva waste of hard-earned cash, wasn’t it?

But some guys are willing to take a chance. Like my brother, who thinks he’s going to ride off into the sunset with the woman of his dreams in a haze of glitter on unicorns. And the wedding planner—the green-eyed beauty who makes a living convincing suckers to shell out thousands of dollars on centerpieces—is raking it in on this matrimonial monstrosity.

The thing is, Charlie Love is not unlike me. We’re both cogs in the wedding-industrial complex. As the best man, I know her game—and I can play it better than her. But after one scorching, unexpected kiss, I’m thinking I might just want to get played.

smartfunny snarky hot ROMANCE

I love a good enemies to lovers romance and Kate Meader delivered in spades with her newest novel, Down with Love.  This is the first novel in her new Laws of Attraction series. Coffee Dates with Down with Love

It looks like the series will focus on Max Henderson, Lucas Wright, and Grant Lincoln. They are partners in a downtown Chicago law firm specializing in divorce.  Up first is Max Henderson, a highly sought after divorce attorney who enjoys what he does. Born into privilege, Max donated his trust fund and has paved his own way. Despite having parents who are still together, his own experience and those of close friends have left this romantic skeptical when it comes to happily ever after.

First Date: We meet Max and his brother at a downtown bar where a woman sitting at the bar is distracting Max’s attention. That is until his brother announces he is engaged. Turns out the woman he was admiring is Charlie Love, his brother’s wedding planner. A fun first encounter leaves both frustrated and despite protests, intrigued. Meader shares their story using alternating POVs.  I had a blast getting inside this couples head. They keep bumping into each other and the chemistry between them is sizzling. I was on edge waiting for that first explosive kiss. No commitment promises and tangled sheets quickly ensue. I am all in. I loved the chemistry, the snark and the movie quotes.

Second Date: Side threads involving family members, the firm, clients and weddings balanced out the tale and allowed our couple opportunities to spend time together. I would totally commit to Max if I weren’t already happily married. The man made me swoon.  The way he handles his clients and how he lifts them up and empowers them was pretty dang awesome. He is an all around nice guy who helps friends and family because he wants to. Love it! Heck, he even does nice things for Charlie’s family. The man is a romantic at heart, loves classic films and takes care of an unwanted pet. *fans self* Charlie, despite being a skeptic has set the bar low to achieve her end goal. Her background was interesting, and I enjoyed seeing her let her guard down.

Third Date: Moonlight moments that will curl your toes, followed by drama and stubbornness pushed the couple allowing for growth. I loved the secondary threads.  In particular, Max’s brother’s fiancee Gina, the parental units and the pet thread. Hilarious! If you are looking for a snarky, sexy and heartfelt romance you their story is perfect. Meader creates characters I come to care for and I warmed up to both Charlie and Max.

Humor, sweet moments and sizzling heat await you in Down with Love. It’s the perfect, feel-good-romance to curl up with this weekend. Don’t forget the chocolate and wine.

I love wedding planning in a romance and this sounds like so much fun! I don’t love that over the top cynical anti-marriage thing but it sounds like it makes sense here – especially with the hero being a divorce attorney! Adding to my TBR!

A divorce lawyer and a wedding planner- talk about opposite ideologies. LOL I can see why you had a good time with it.

I read the least amount of books in this genre, I usually like some suspense or paranormal woo-woo on the side..lol

This sounds like the ideal read on a scorching hot afternoon… like this one, for instance:). Thank you for sharing, Kimberly.

I love a good enemies-to-lovers romance and your description of Max has me swooning. 😉 I can only imagine the snark and sparks between a wedding planner and a divorce attorney. LOL I’ll have to give this one a go. 😀

I am a huge romance lover and will probably end up flying through this novel when I need a pick me up read to get me through a bout of binge-ing too serious or deep themed books. It sounds funny and playful. I like that we have smarts and snarkiness appearing in this one too.

I really enjoyed this book too. It had a throwback feel to those old rom-com movies (think Doris Day, Rock Hudson). This was tons of fun and heartwarming too. I am looking forward to getting to know the partners better. Great review!

This sounds great! While I’m not always the biggest romance fan, enemies to lovers is, by far, my favorite kind. I have a feeling that I would really relate to Max and his being skeptical of the happily ever after.
