Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

I cannot believe it is mid-July already! Summer needs to start getting lazy and slow down. Well, I ended up with Bronchitis and my cough is beginning to loosen. I took a few days off from watching the Royals and that really helped. Nights are still crap with coughing and drainage. Ugh. Our son and his girlfriend got their first apartment this weekend and we are officially empty nesters.  Now to convince Mr. Caffeinated we need to downsize. We went car hunting and ended up getting a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Limited. It is a nice ride, but we were both wiped out after spending the afternoon at the dealers. I’ve picked up some awesome reads this week and look forward to devouring them and sharing my thoughts. Stay Caffeinated!

I got the first Mercy Kaptrick book by Kendra Elliot through the Prime library and loved it.  I decided I would read the series. The rest of the books are 4.99 a pop and I figured I would get one a month,  but then I got a notice for a Prime Day, Kindle unlimited deal.  You get three months for 99 cents. Hallie Edwards backlist is also in KU and I jumped at the deal.  So, prepare as I will be devouring and reviewing a lot of KU books for the next few months. Here is the deal for Prime members: Prime Day – Kindle Unlimited $3 bounty

I hope you are better by now as I’m a week late. I did a whole lotta cleaning this past week. It feels good.

  2. Daniela Ark

I know! Summer goes WAY too fast! Sorry to hear you had Bronchitis! Hope you are feeling better by now! Congrats to your son and his girlfriend! Downsizing sounds great! Less to clean and maintain more time to read and blog [winks]

  3. Aj @ Read All The Things!

Congrats on the new car! I hope you feel better soon.

I made my blog a Pinterest account yesterday, and your account was one of the first ones I followed. It’s helpful that Pinterest gives me suggestions for who to follow because I have no idea what I’m doing with that site yet.

  4. Tanya @ Rantings of a Reading Addict

Bronchitis really sucks. The doctor thinks my daughter got pleurisy (sp?) from extreme coughing. Have you had that happen to you? Congrats on the new Jeep! That has got to be a sweet ride. You deserve it though after getting all your kiddos raised and out of the house! LOL I hope you feel better and enjoy those KU books!

  5. sjhigbee

Urg! Bronchitis in this weather should be made illegal! Hm… not sure how large your house it – but now our grandchildren are growing, we are definitely in need of at least another extra bedroom, as they now have a room each when they come to stay. I hope your recovery continues, preferably quickly. Nothing worse than hacking through a hot night… Take carex

  6. Christy

Aww the kiddos flew the coop. 🙁 I’ve been contemplating downsizing, but my son & his friends are still over here a lot. I have the pool & good food. bwahahaha! Congrats on the new car. My son got a 2015 Jeep Cherokee Limited after he wrecked his truck – super comfy seats. 😀 HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER!

Yes, it would be nice if things slowed a bit. I do hope you are feeling much better.
We have been making small talk about downsizing but it is intimidating with years of accumulations. Enjoy the new Jeep. We have an old one that keeps hanging in… both the kids say they want it if we ever decide to get rid of it.
That is an impressive set of new books to read. I have my eye on Kill The Farm Boy.
    Happy Reading!

I’m so sorry you’re sick, it’s unfair to be ill in the summer. Congrats on being empty nesters, less to clean for sure, even if you don’t downsize. Double congrats on the new car. Isn’t it crazy how long it takes to buy a car? It’s like a whole day ordeal, if not longer.

  9. ShootingStarsMag

Oh no, I hope you are starting to feel better! That’s awful.
I’m with you on the summer though – it really needs to slow down. I can’t believe it’s halfway through July already.
Oooh lucky you for having Caught in Time to review! Love that series.

I hate that you have been sick again. You have had more than your fair share of illness this year. How does the empty nest feel? I have about a year until my baby goes away to college and then it will just me, the hubby, and my 3 furry girls who are my favorite children 🙂 Have a great week!

Sorry to hear about the bronchitis. 🙁 That’s awful.

Being empty nesters might seem like a sad thing right now but you’ll probably quite enjoy it eventually. I think it’s natural to think about downsizing though – especially when you’ve got so much space now and not so much to do with it.

  12. Sophia Rose

Oh fun about the new Jeep and getting past the yucky bronchitis. Yes, the summer has flown by. 🙂 I have Caught in Time, too.

  13. Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard

Congratulations on the new car — and the empty nest! Luckily you have the Royals to keep it from feeling too empty. I hope you get over the bronchitis soon. You’ve had really bad luck with respiratory infections the last few years.

  14. vvb

A new car – fun! Fight or Flight is the one I want to read. Cute cover to boot. Enjoy.

  15. Sophie

Sorry to hear about bronchitis! But on a totally other note your book cartoon made me laugh so hard!!!! Now congrats on the new car and yes it’s exhausting spending time at car dealrship.

  16. Lorna

So sorry about your bronchitis. I had it this past winter and honestly it scared me because I couldn’t stop coughing in order to breathe. Hope your continues to clear up. I got that KU deal about a month ago. I’m afraid I will forget to drop it when the time is up though. Couldn’t pass that deal up! Congrats on your new car!

    • Kimberly

That is how I am at night Lorna. It is awful. Of course the heat doesn’t help. I slept until almost noon today. We are going to help my son a little and then I am going to try to get some much needed rest before the Royals arrive tomorrow morning at 7:30

  17. Northwoman

I hope you feel better soon. At least you have some great reads to keep you company. Empty nester is quite a thing. My daughter is still with me but I am trying to do the sort/throw thing since we just have too much stuff. I just hate to get rid of good things I might need but I’m getting tired of moving them around. That’s one reason why I have embraced digital for books, audiobooks and movies so strongly.

I got a new used car this year – an electric hybrid – Chevy Volt. It is a lot smaller than my mini van but I’m not hauling around 7 Girl Scouts and all their ski equipment anymore either. It will go about 50 miles a day before I have to switch to gas. I’ve only gotten gas 3 times this year so far, the last time mid-June. But I’m traveling this week to see Melanie so I’ll have to get a tank. Anne – Books of My Heart

I have to chuckle at the meme you shared. I worked with a woman who would wear headphones with nothing on just to avoid interruptions so she could get her work done!

Oh, man. I am in total disagreement. I wish this summer would speed by. I am so over this heat. I always joke that I don’t complain all winter just so I can complain in the summer. LOL

    Thanks for sharing!

  19. Sumedha

I tried audio books a couple times but I don’t think they’re for me. Probably because as much as I love books, I also love music. I need both in my daily life so listening to an audio book takes away my music time.

  20. Charlie

In about 8 days my parents will be empty nesters. It will be strange. My mom said she wanted to get an inside dog – after 15 years of saying “I will not have any more dogs!” I hope you start feeling better! I had bronchitis and the flu at the same time in college and it was awful. Congrats on your new car! A Jeep like me!

  21. Mary @StackingMyBookShelves!

I have to check out that KU deal. I am on vacation in a few weeks and can’t wait! Glad to hear you are doing better too. I can’t stand summer colds. Have a wonderful week and I have to get over to your review for the week as I am behind on them!

    Mary

  22. Darlene

Amazon.com won’t let me use the Prime Deal because I’m not in USA even though my Kindle library is from that site 🙁

I actually bought the audiobook for A Merciful Death by Kendra Elliot on Audible. I better bump it up my TBR!

Glad that you are feeling somewhat better. I wish summer would slow down too. We have such a brief time to enjoy the pool, and it’s been crazy hot here but I can’t complain because our winters are so cold! Have a great week!

I hope that you feel 100% better soon! Wow for the empty nest — my son is only 10 so I can’t even imagine what that moment will feel like when he gets a place of his own. My hubby and I are in the process of car shopping as well. There are so many choices out there, it’s almost overwhelming!

  24. Lola

I’ll be happy once we nearing the end of summer, it’s way too warm for my taste these days. I hope you’re feeling better soon. Car hunting sounds exhausting, but that’s good you got a nice ride now. Have a great week!

  25. Samantha

I need summer to slow down too but at the same time I am really looking forward to fall weather! I hope that you start to feel better soon! Have a great week!

  26. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Sounds like busy times! Hope you’re feeling better too! Summer colds are just dreadful and wrong! Lol. And wow! a new car!! Bet that’s cool!

Yay for new reads too! Lots of new to me ones here except for Kill the Farm Boy! I read that one and quite enjoyed it! Very funny kind of read! Hope you enjoy all your new lovelies!

    Here’s my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

I’m sorry you haven’t been well. I hope you get better soon. Coughing at night is so annoying. I have that often from allergies. We’re in the process of downsizing and it’s no fun at all, but we need to do it. Hope you have a great week!

  28. Jolene Wilson

I have seen Baby Teeth around a lot this weekend on different blogs. Looking forward to your review. Thanks for the heads up on the KU deal. Have a great week and enjoy your new car. It sounds nice.

  29. RO

I can’t believe how quickly the year is passing either, Kimberly! So sorry you weren’t feeling well, particularly in this heat, and hope you continue to get better. Kudos on that new ride! Sounds like a great reason for a road trip for you and Mr. Caffeinated once you feel better. My son is 35, but I remember when he left home at 18, and moved to another state, Ugh…not fun at all for me(lol), but I adapted eventually. Hang in there and hugs…RO

  30. Jenea's Book Obsession

Congrats on the new car! I am glad to hear you are doing a little better now, hopefully soon it will be completely gone. Our son is making big plans to move when he turns 18, we’ll see. lol… Enjoy the new books and the rest of your Sunday. 🙂

      Hi Jenea,
I tried getting onto your site via your link below – but Mozilla Firefox blocked it with a message that your site is improperly configured… whatever that means! Just thought you should know as there is clearly some techie glitch:)

      • Jenea

there is a problem with my hosting package that also does my privacy protection. Can’t call them till 9 EST to get it fixed. I’m so sorry.

  31. Rachel

Sorry your cough hasn’t cleared uo. That sounds worse than my pneumonia, since at least that went away with antibiotics. Still with the fatigue, but I can lie down without my lungs filling up now.

    I hope it clears faster!

  32. Greg

Congrats on the Jeep! And yeah aren’t dealerships fun? *rolls eyes* Sorry to hear about the bronchitis though, hope you’re feeling better and having a snug, relaxing weekend.

    Ooh Baby Teeth!!

  33. JJ @ This Dark Material

I hope your cough clears and you start to feel better soon! I’m really looking forward to your reviews on Baby Teeth and Kill the Farm Boy. I haven’t read the latter yet, but I’m intrigued by the comparisons to Princess Bride.

Enjoy empty nesting! Hopefully you’re feeling better and a few days of Royal free rest is getting you back on your feet. I don’t enjoy car shopping so even when healthy I need a serious nap after! You got some great books! So curious about the Heather Graham. I haven’t read any Krewe books yet and I’m starting to miss them! Have a great week!

  35. Laura Thomas

Oh, I hope you recover quickly, Kim. Summer is flying by. Before you know it fall will be here. I loved it when I downsized. Got rid of lots of clutter and it is now so much easier to keep the house smaller house clean. Feels cozy too. Enjoy those audibles. I spotted that Prime deal but passed on it as I have so many to listen to already. Have a wonderful Sunday:)
