We are home!  Laundry, restocking the fridge and mowing the lawn await us. Vacation was wonderful. Good food, good friends, books and rest. It was a low-key vacation with some rainy weather, and cooler temps but we just went with the flow.  Ironically, I injured my shoulder and arm on the flight home. Somehow pulling, lifting or carrying luggage pinched a nerve, and holy coffee beans, it hurts! The pain radiates from neck, right shoulder and down the arm to the elbow. I will be seeing someone on Monday if the pain doesn’t subside.  That didn’t stop us from taking the Royals to the Zoo for a few hours yesterday. It was so good to see them and had fun visiting the jungle. For the month of June I read/listened to 18 books in June. July 2nd is the midway point for the year and I am on track for my Goodreads challenge with 129/250 books complete. (70 of which were audio) The Fireworks have started and folks around here are crazy. Since July 4th falls on Weds, we will have two weekends of it. Smh. Stay Caffeinated!

Hope you are already mended by today. I have bursitis in my left arm again. The doctor originally gave me stronger naproxen and told me to do these exercises which I didn’t really do. I may have to go back.

  2. Northwoman

I hope your shoulder / arm is better. I had something like that happen and I couldn’t lift that arm above my head or reach to unhook my bra in the back. It was awful.

I thought I would be doing comments easily this week and checking out all the linkups. But medical appts, a Magic Triumphs ARC, a tree thru the roof of the house during a thunderstorm,, and this week has been full of surprises. Anne – Books of My Heart

Welcome home! So sorry to hear about your arm. My husband developed tendinitis in his elbow after a trip to Disney World. We really think it’s from carrying a backpack and reaching in to get stuff out at kind of a weird angle. Travel injuries are crazy! Hope you’re having a great week!

  4. Lisa Thomson

Welcome back, Kim. It always feels good to return home. Funny how we can’t wait to leave and then suddenly we’re back and loving home again. Good for you on your reading challenge being on target.

Ugh, I’m sorry to hear you got injured on the way home. This happens to me a lot. I get injured in the most random ways. Thank goodness for my chiropractor! Hope you feel better soon.

I’m glad you had such a great vacation. Low-key ones are the best. Fireworks haven’t been too much of a nuisance this year, but that’s probably because Colorado upped the fine from $1,000-10,000 for fireworks. The fire danger is so high, I hope people refrain and leave it to the professionals.

  7. Tanya @ Girl Plus Books

Sounds like you had some wonderful time away… despite the injury on the way home. Hope it’s nothing serious when you get it checked out. Love your random… I so wish that’s what I was doing today. 🙂

  8. Whitney

Vacations are almost always fun! It sounds like you had a good time. I’m sorry about your shoulder, I hope that doesn’t bother you for very long.

I’m really interested in reading this one Smoke And Iron By Rachel Caine. Have a good week!

  9. Daniela Ark

Sorry yo hear about your arm and shoulder! but glad to hear you had a good time before that! Hope the find what is wrong today and you are painless soon! 129 books! That’s awesome Kim!

  10. sjhigbee

I’m really glad you had such a good holiday and I hope your shoulder soon recovers. Have a great week, Kimberly:)

  11. Aj @ Read All The Things!

I’m glad you had a good vacation. I hope you feel better soon. I have fireworks for the entire summer because my neighbors are irritating people. They’re actually shooting off fireworks right now, and it’s 10:44 at night. I hope nobody in the neighborhood needs sleep. Have a good week!

  12. Nise'

Hope the injury is not serious and you are recovering! I am on goal for my yearly reading goal too.

  13. MarthaE

Sorry to hear about the shoulder injury. Such a bummer after a low-key, restful vacation.
Glad to have you back at the blog sharing your fun reading and new acquires. Happy Reading!

  14. ShootingStarsMag

I’m glad you had a nice weekend, but sorry about the pinched nerve! I hope you get some relief soon. Great job on your reading goals for the year. 🙂

  15. Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction

Hope your shoulder feels better soon. How unpleasant! Not many people around here shoot off fireworks (other than the official ones). We were hoping to go see some tonight, but it looks like it’s planning to rain. 🙁

  16. Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard

I’m glad you had a great vacation but sorry about your shoulder! I hope you can get it fixed up and feeling better quickly. I need to go check out your review of Wicked and the Wallflower — I’ve been wanting to read it!

  17. Lindsi

I was never a fan of fireworks growing up, but now I hate them. The girls are still too little to really enjoy them, and they usually start after their bedtime anyways. My son is old enough to shoot fireworks and watch them, but it just means there’s a lot of trash for me to pick up the next day (it’s too dark to grab everything at night). We also have a dog with really bad anxiety, so thunderstorms are pretty bad, but fireworks are worse. She’ll refuse to go outside and just pee on herself in a corner–breaks my heart. We’ve tried thunder shirts and letting our son do his fireworks at a neighbor’s house, but she can still hear all the noise. Two weekends of this is going to be awful, though.

Sorry to hear you’ve injured yourself! That’s never fun! I’ve done something to my back recently that’s causing my sciatic nerve to act up. It only bothered me during my last pregnancy, but now it’s popping up randomly to laugh in my face. I hope you start feeling better soon! <3

Glad that you are home safe after a great vacation. So sorry about your injury! I’ve been trying to get away since late April but due to my neck’s bulging discs I’m afraid to drive over 9 hours by myself. And now we have miserable heat to contend with. Anyway, welcome back!

  19. vvb

Glad to hear the vacation went well. Hope the shoulder issue clears up soon. And enjoy your latest reads.

  20. Sophia Rose

Yay! Home safe and sorta sound. I’ve never been one to get thrilled over sweltering weather, but it did keep the fireworks folks from going at it this weekend. I was struggling to sleep as it was.
Nice reading numbers for the month and half year.

Good times at the zoo. Looking forward to the 4th. Have a great week, Kimberly!

  21. Kristin (Book Sniffers Anonymous)

I’m glad you had a great vacation! I hope you feel better soon though. 🙁
They started to throw stuff off last night and I was already rolling my eyes at it all. Thankfully it was only little ones, but last year someone in our neighborhood had some pretty gnarly ones that were so loud, you could feel it. I love fireworks, but I much prefer going out to see them, not having my neighbor set them off right next door at one in the morning.

  22. Olivia

Sounds like you’re having a good time. I haven’t had to mow my lawn in weeks because we haven’t seen rain in three weeks and it’s instead just dying…I should probably water it more, whoops!

I also came home to laundry, fridge restocking, mowing and errands. But it wasn’t so bad. lol I’m so sorry to hear about your arm. Ouch! I hope the pain goes away or, if not, it gets figured out. Have a great, hopefully pain free, week, Kim!

  24. Kathy @ My Nook Books and More

Sounds like you had a fun time and I hope you feel better. We went to Seattle last week and I have a huge pile of laundry to do. I have another week of vacation so I can tackle the laundry and relax from our trip lol. I hope you have a great 4th of July!

18 Books in June! Did you read all of them till completion? I only ask because I’ve been skimming a few here and there. I’ve been reading thriller/mysteries all month and it’s been hard to find one that has kept me engaged, although Night Film by Marisha Pessl has been holding my attention. this week.

    • Kimberly

Hi Trin, No skimming. It was a mix of audiobooks (7), novels (9) and children’s books (2)

  26. Mary @StackingMyBookShelves!

So glad you had a great time! Sorry about the pinched nerve. It happens. I hope you feel better. I am way behind on reading your reviews. I am hoping to catch up! I know what you mean about the fireworks, only we have this guy a block or two away and omg he does it a lot. What can I do. Have a wonderful week.

  27. Charlie @ Girl of 1000 Wonders

I hope you go see someone tomorrow. That sounds too painful not to. So sorry that happened! Something similar happened to me last year carving the pumpkins, except with the muscle attached to the elbow down to the wrist. It lasted for a few weeks. I will basically miss both of the 4th of July celebrations due to the cruise. I’m nervous how Baby will do with my friend with all that going on. Hope you feel better ASAP!

  28. Darlene

Welcome back! Glad to hear that your vacation was a relaxing one, and I hope your shoulder/arm feels better. Do you have one of those foam rollers? They hurt like heck when you do the roll/release but it sure does help!

    Happy Early 4th of July!

I have two dogs and the fireworks situation is ridiculous. However, so is the thunderstorm situation lol. We have had a lot so far this summer and my dogs are not fans. Glad you had a great vacation. We are going somewhere at the end of July but just haven’t decided where. Any suggestions? Have a great week and hopefully your arm/shoulder feels better soon.

The shore is always a favorite destination for us, Wildwood NJ, Myrtle Beach NC or Ft; Lauderdale Fl. Of course the mountains are awesome too. We love to white water raft in Montana and Tennessee.

  30. bookworm

Sounds like a great vacation, it’s always nice to get away and relax. I hope your shoulder is feeling better.
And wow, 18 books in June! That’s awesome. Enjoy your week!

  31. Suzanne @ The Bookish Libra

I’m glad to hear you had a great vacation in spite of the rain and cooler temps. That dues suck that you hurt your shoulder though. That sounds super painful.

Sounds like you are right on track with your reading goals. 129 books is amazing!

  32. Tizzy

I’m glad you had a good holiday but sorry you’re in pain now. I can relate as I’ve strained my back muscles and I’m finding everything exhausting. Congratulations on being ahead with your Goodreads challenge and I hope you enjoy the 4th of July celebrations.

  33. Danielle

Ia m glad you had a nice vacation, but sorry about the should injury! Hopefully, if you see someone tomorrow they can be of help. Also happy you were still able to enjoy the zoo. Always so much work to be done after returning from a nice break. Hope the pinched nerve heals up and you have a lovely week ?

  34. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Glad you had a good vacation! My weekend getaway involved cooler temps as well and I was in heaven!! I was pretty much the only one who wanted to sit outside in the evenings when it was getting down to 60, everyone else thinking it was too chilled! I don’t know how I am related to them! LOL!

Nice new reads! New to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!

    Here’s my STS

That’s the thing about vacations – we gotta come back to all the stuff we left behind. I sure hope the pain stops soon. Glad you had fun at the zoo and got in some reading! Hugs…RO

  36. Ceri

So glad you enjoyed your holiday. But Ouch! Pinched nerves are the worst. 🙁 Hope it lets up by tomorrow.

  37. Stormi Johnson

Glad you made it home safe, to bad about the pinched nerve though! This is not my favorite time of the year because of fireworks and them upsetting thed dogs.

    Have a great week!

Fireworks started here last night, too, and the poor feline was beside herself! I hope your shoulder pain subsides. That really stinks. I guess the silver lining is that you got your vacation first.

I had hoped to bang out the Great Library books before the release of Smoke and Iron, but I am still finishing up Ink and Bone! It’s really good so far, but I’ll be glad to be caught up.

    Thanks for sharing!

  39. Jenea's Book Obsession

Oh no, hope you get to feeling better. Lunch nerves are just awful. Looks like you are doing great on my dreading challenge. And your grandbabies are beautiful! Happy Sunday!!! ?

  40. Sam@WLABB

Oh no! Sorry to hear about your injury. Hope you are mending quickly. I have not been to the zoo in ages, though both Philly and the Bronx Zoos are nearby. I guess I will go more again when I am a grandma.

Glad you had a nice vacation! Sorry to hear about your shoulder though :-/ At least it happened at the end of the vacation? I know that doesn’t make it hurt less though. Feel better soon!

  42. Natalie @Natflix&Books

Glad to hear you had a good vacation! I’m definitely ready to get away. I hope your arm/shoulder heals quickly and the fireworks aren’t too crazy. Happy reading!

  43. Tressa @ Wishful Endings

So glad you enjoyed your vaca, but very sorry about the shoulder! I hope it does improve. And awesome book count! I had 17 this month which isn’t too shabby. 🙂

  44. Literary Feline

Ouch! I hope you are feeling better soon. Definitely rest! I bet you are glad to be home. Our vacation is coming up this next month and I am both looking forward to it and wishing we were staying home instead. Haha. I am sure it will be fun. I will just be glad to be away from work for brief while. The Serpent and Lipstick Voodoo both look really good to me right now. I hope you enjoy them! Have a great week, Kim, and I hope your neck/shoulder/arm feels better soon!

  45. Laurel-Rain Snow

Enjoy the holidays and the upcoming week. Thanks for sharing.

Funny you should mention fireworks, they have begun here too. SMH is right. Glad you had a good vaca, hope your shoulder/arm feel better soon! I was on vacation last week too and it was awesome, but always nice to get home. 🙂

    Have a super week Kimba!
