Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

We hit temperatures in the 90s this week with a high of 102° Saturday. No complaints here…bring on the sun!  GDPR has arrived and after a few bugs, I am confident we are compliant. If you have no idea what I am talking about, I shared some articles in the Around the Blogosphere section. It is important to note that each site is different so check with your host on how to retrieve requested user data. For example, the WP GDPR Plugin’s request user data doesn’t work on my site. Users email me and then they are sent requested info using a tool my host provided.  Here in the states, we have a three-day weekend which marks the unofficial start of summer as we celebrate Memorial Day. Mr. Caffeinated and I are unplugging and enjoying some much-needed downtime.  Stay Caffeinated!

We had a three day weekend too in the UK. It was lovely, although after it was over thunderstorms and flooding rant rampant over the country so not so great a start to summer! At least it was warm though…

I’m glad you had a nice long weekend and unplugged. The family went to a Taylor Swift concert on Friday. I have to say, it was one of the better shows I’ve been to.

  3. Daniela Ark

We were in the 90s Saturday and then 45 Sunday! SMH! So Glad to hear you are GDPR compliant! 🙂 I took a few steps but ‘m still learning 🙂 I will go and visit the links you posted now@! Thanks for sharing! hope you enjoy your unplugging Kim!

I had a couple of days dealing with the GDPR but it is good now – I think.
    I love the Woodstock image!
Enjoy your downtime and Happy Reading!

  6. Stefanie

Oh boy you had some high temps. It was a little over 80 today; I was feelin’ it in my flannel llamas today. The house fan is runnin’ right now, hopefully cooling down our house to the mid-60’s. Thanks for the card compliment and I love how you had brinner. I love breakfast for dinner.

  7. ShootingStarsMag

I THINK I’m compliant with everything for GDPR; I hope so, it was a bit confusing, but there are some awesome bloggers who had some good posts that really helped. Which is nice! Yeah, the temps here have been pretty high, but I got to finally swim today so that was awesome. 🙂

  8. Lorna

We had 92 yesterday. 88 today and then thunderstorms so it cooled off. Towns close by us are literally under water and on the national news. But 102 where you live? Wow!
I reviewed The Kiss Quotient for June 5th. I absolutely loved it.
I hope you and Mr.C. Have a great unplugged weekend.

  9. Joanne

Wasn’t aware of the GDPR (I’m in the Caribbean), so thanks for the links; will check it out.

  10. Tizzy

Urgh, GDPR has been such a headache but I think I’m sorted now too. We also have a 3 day weekend here in the UK, it’s bliss.

  11. Lynn

I really want to read The Proposal as well! I hope you’ll enjoy all your new arrivals! Have a wonderful week!

  12. Karen

The tropical storm is going by us this weekend so it’s been raining. It’s ok though because I managed to plant a lot of flowers that will get nice and watered before the heat comes back this week.

  13. Lindsi

I’m pretty sure I covered by basis with my updated privacy policy. I read a few of your thoughts and did a lot of research, so *fingers crossed*. I know Blogger/Google added the cookies notice for EU visitors as a curtesy, and I asked a few EU blogger friends to check it out for me. It’s there! Phew! I just hope my additional policy covers everything else.

I haaaaate hot weather. Fall and winter are my months of joy, Summer makes me want to stay inside and never leave the house. It’s too hot to take the kids to the playground, unless we want to go at 6 AM.

Thanks for sharing the GDPR links! We’re just starting to get temps in the mid-80s, and I had to run inside when we hadn’t met our high for the day. (I was outside weeding earlier.)

  15. Sophie

Well enjoy your long weekend! And as far as GDPR is concerned I’ve been touring my small country this week to give training about it!

  16. Sophia Rose

Our heat wave comes this week starting Monday. Enjoy!

I got Scandal Above Stairs, too. Reading book one now.

    Happy Memorial Day!

Hmm, I used the WP GDPR Compliance plugin. On the Integration page, it asks if you use comments. I clicked to yes, Then fill out the box that pops up. If it still won’t show it has something to do with your theme and you may need to add code.

  17. Northwoman

    Hey, Kimberly,
I hope you have a great weekend. Hopefully that includes some relaxing and reading. Thanks for your help with the GDPR. 100 is too hot for me. That’s why I didn’t choose TX, FL or AZ to live. 90s is enough. I’m off this week which sounds great but not relaxing when I have issues to tackle. I also hope to get ahead on the blog and do some reading. Anne – Books of My Heart..

wow 102! Happy Memorial Day and enjoy your books. I need to grab a copy of the new Stephen King too.

  19. Mandy

I fear we are headed for 90+ days this week. Enjoy your nice break I think we all need one every now and then to stay sane. I’ve not heard of the books you received this week so I need to check them out. I’m compliant but still always tweaking like so many others. Thanks for sharing all the great info. Have a great week.

  20. A Voracious Reader

I guess I need to dig into this compliance thing. Blogger has a message when I go to the drafting section. I’m just dragging my feet over it. Ughhhhh

I hope you have a fantastic, but slightly cooler, week, Kim!

  21. Wattle

All the GDPR stuff is so delightful *sigh* I think I’m finally there though. Phew!

I hope you enjoy your long weekend and the week ahead 🙂

I need to spend more time on GDPR. I am reviewing Every Heart a Doorway (Wayward Children #1) by Seanan McGuire (May 29, 2018) and I included a link to your post Down Among The Sticks And Bones By Seanan McGuire (audio review) because you have inspired me so much with this genre and author, so a huge thanks to you Kimberly 🙂

  23. Darlene

My eyes glaze over when I read about GDPR. I read on one blog that if your blog does not make money, then you don’t need to worry about it. I know that my email subscribers are fine because Feedburner requires that you verify the email address after subscribing so that is in compliance. I suppose the only thing that I need to do is add a short blurb with respect to Privacy Policy and that I’m not selling personal data!

Enjoy your hot weather! It’s been unseasonably hot here as well. I even broke down and turned on the A/C. It’s only May, and it kills me to do that!! But why suffer in the heat when we don’t have to, right?

I’m interested to see what you think of the new King book. Have a great week!

  24. Lola

For me it can get back to being a bit colder, it’s been pretty warm here these past few days. I also worked a bit on GDPR this week and i think I should be compliant now for my sites. I hope you have a fun weekend!

  25. Stormi Johnson

I can’t wait to get to Scandal Above Stairs and I hope The Outsiders is a good one, I am on the waiting list on overdrive. I got in pretty quick so I am #5 for the audio, just hope those in front of my listen quickly…lol. 🙂

    Have fun unpluggin!

  26. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Ugh, we’ve been having high temps for the past few weeks. I hate it! Lol! I’d so rather go back to colder weather. My thinking is that you can always layer up to stay warm, but when it’s boiling hot out, all you can do is suffer! But I’ve long since learned that we hardly get a spring or fall in my neck of the woods. Just excruciatingly long summers and winter all year round. Lol!

Nice new reads! Some new to me ones this week! Hope you enjoy them all!

    Here’s my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

Fingers crossed we’re all GDPR compliant! I saw that FB and WhatsApp amongst others are already being taken to court in the EU for non-compliance!
It’s a bank holiday weekend in the UK too, but not here in France.

Funny how the temps have been bouncing back and forth this year! Well, not funny, probably a result of global warming, but still…

I got The Outsiders e-book and gave to my husband and son. I loved early King but some of his later books pushed the envelope, to me.

Enjoy Memorial Day weekend with the family!

  29. Natalie @Natflix&Books

I’m such a weather wuss. I hate when it is too cold yet hate when it is too hot. I just want like 75 with a breeze year round. Happy 3 day weekend!

  30. Grace @ Rebel Mommy Book Blog

The new GDPR stuff is overwhelming but I am working on it and hopefully will be somewhat ok with the disclosures and such soon. This is so not my area though! Yay for hot weather. Enjoy your downtime and have a great week!

  31. Melliane

Oh Sophia’s novel! As for the others I haven’t read any but I hope you’ll enjoy them. Happy reading girl!

  32. Danielle

Triple digits?! No thank you. I appreciate the warmer weather, but that is too warm for me. We are keeping it nice and mild at the moment (fingers crossed). I am on bed restrictions though, so I will not suffer regardless thanks to ac. I hope you enjoy the three day weekend and a bit of time to relax!

  33. Tanya @ Girl Plus Books

Wow, you’re definitely feeling summertime temps already. Hope you enjoy the long weekend… and doing it unplugged sounds like the perfect way to do it. 🙂 Hope you’re able to kick back with some good reads this weekend!

  34. Evelina @ AvalinahsBooks

I failed with my https installation, so I’m just hoping that’s not mandatory, and also hoping to maybe try again sometime soon. Although that last time was too emotionally traumatizing, as it killed my blog off for a few days. Ugh. I was worried.

Oh wow, you can certainly keep you temps of 100. Lol. I’m pretty to be able to wear flip flops and sandals now though. If it would stop raining one day. Hope you and the family enjoy your holiday. And enjoy those new additions too,

  36. sjhigbee

That’s really too hot – we are now in the mid-70s during the day (though supposed to have rain later this afternoon) but it’s just right as far as I’m concerned. Stay cool and unplugged, Kimberly and enjoy your long weekend:)

  37. blodeuedd

The only place I have experienced 102 F is in a cold sauna that is not ready yet…
Omg but like outside that is hooooot

  38. Sam@WLABB

The weather is definitely supporting this unofficial start to summer. I am not a fan, but all the pool/shore people will be happy. Excited to see what you thought of The Kiss Quotient. Been hearing great things.

I suppose I should get around to getting my site compliant. I’ll be glad when all the emails stop coming in reminding me to resubscribe to newsletters. I hope you enjoy your weekend!

  40. JJ @ This Dark Material

We’re due for our first triple digit temperatures towards the middle of the week! I would have been happy to make it a little longer without them, but that’s summer in Texas for you. Glad to hear GDPR compliance went more or less smoothly for you! Hopefully bloggers’ stress levels over it can start going down now 🙂

It was 90 here today and supposed to be hot again tomorrow- so far it’s shaping up as a pretty good weekend. We have 90’s forecast through Tuesday and 80’s after that- summer is here. 🙂 Glad GDPR is looking good for you- I’m still working on mine but will hopefully be done soon.

Hope you have a great long weekend!

  42. Laurel-Rain Snow

Have a happy weekend, and enjoy those books. I like your announcement about the “cookies,” and how they go with coffee. I love making things fun…instead of just tedious, which they can be.
