Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

This was a weird week in which I seemed to get very little reading or listening down. I worked on making Caffeinated Reviewer GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) compliant. Our temps hit the mid to upper 80’s, so the Royals and I spent afternoons outdoors. We got a new kitchen set, computer chairs and a desk for my hubby’s office (BD present from me). So we spent the weekend assembling them. I did watch the Royal Wedding and thought it was all lovely.  Other than that it was pretty quiet. How was your week? Did anything exciting happen?  Stay Caffeinated!

I must’ve missed, Witch Way Home. I have book three, but not that one. I’ll have to look into that. We’ve had some storms here, but not too bad. I’ve been in a bit of blogger slump. I haven’t been visiting as much as I would like and writing reviews is like pulling teeth. I’m not even listening as much as normal. I’m sure I will get back in the swing of things soon. Have a great week.

  2. Tyler H. Jolley

It’s nice to hear you finally had a whole week of nice weather! It was a busy week for me. I spent most of it in FL packing and moving my little brother to PA for ortho school. Have a great week, Kim!

  3. RO

Sometimes it’s just good to sit back and get some other things done, so it sounds like you were able to do a little of that. Some people are so frustrated over the wedding, but as pop culture fan, you already know I wa there for all the news and gossip up until Saturday night. (lol) I was able to get in some reading though. Hugs…RO

  4. ShootingStarsMag

Oh goodness, this whole GDPR thing is so confusing; thanks for the blog link though. I’m trying to read as much as I can to make sure I’m doing everything correct. Sometimes a slower weekend is needed, so I’m glad you had a nice one.

    • Kimberly

For folks who want us to speak in a clear concise language, they are pretty darn confusing. LOL

    • Kimberly

Let us hope this week is better! And if you are stateside we have a three day weekend to look forward to

  5. MarthaE

I’m glad your weather is nice now. Hope you enjoy your new kitchen safe.
Another apt graphic image. 🙂 Enjoy all of your new books too.

  6. Stefanie

How nice to get some sun. We’ve been having 70’s with high winds and it feels muggy but no rain yet forecasted. Allergies are buggin’. I’ve been just reading in the car before pick up and when I’m on the elliptical so my reading has been slower. I’ve been doing some knitting and totally sewing. Just finished a garment today and the post is up. I’m glad you’re doing that data thing b/c I’ve missed the automatic fill in’s, LOL.

  7. Northwoman

Wow lots of comments. I have been thinking about GPDR and plan to work on that, as well as my policies tomorrow when I am not scheduled at work, after my annual mammogram. I want all the books you had last week and coming up this week and the things you got in. Sigh. I want to read all the things. They look great! I hope your weather is good this week. We will be in the 80s and kind of rainy all week. But I like that better than 90s. Anne Books of My Heart

    • Kimberly

I already had SSL and Privacy Policy so I just needed to make it easier to read and add a little detail. Good luck!

  8. Lily B

eap we are 10 days away from June? nooo where did May go, yikes a lot of catching up to do. Sorry it was a slow week for you, I feel ya
Wait what on earth is GDPR ? I feel like I have been living under the rock, great something new to figure out as a blogger 🙁

    • Kimberly

Read the link in the blogosphere, it will give you a pretty good idea. Basically, you need to clarify how you use cookies and data and who you are.

  9. Aj @ Read All The Things!

I’m hoping that being on Blogger will help with the GDPR stuff? I haven’t had much time to look into it. My blog is very basic. My week mostly sucked, but I did see the highlights of the royal wedding.

  10. Sophia Rose

Neat that you got to go out with the grandkids each day. Oh boy, assembling stuff really can strain the patience, but feels like a huge accomplishment when its done. 🙂
I took a few peeks at the wedding. It was lovely.

Hopefully, you’ll get to more books this week. You have some good ones in the haul.

  11. Sophie

Hi Kimberley GDPR is a hot topic right now! I even stopped my Amazon Associate program not to earn any money and be free from GDPR. Well I still comply and don’t used or sell personal data but …I hope next week will be less “weird” for you 😉

    • Kimberly

I don’t think many book bloggers make over $600 a year in allilate income, so I cannot see it being an issue.

  12. Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard

I haven’t even thought about GDPR compliance yet — I haven’t had time! So my hat is off to you. I didn’t have time to watch the royal wedding, either. Looking forward to your review of Harry Dresden, which is on my TBR list since Robin really likes the books. I hadn’t realized the new Jill Shalvis was up on Edelweiss, so I just went to grab it! Have a lovely week and I hope you have more time for reading this week.

    • Kimberly

It is a headache and there is so much misinformation out there. I did the basics and will hope for the best. I think our risks are low.

  13. Stephanie Jane

We managed to almost completely avoid The Wedding and have been making the most of sunny afternoons on our bit of riverbank.
Spotted your Storm Front review upcoming. Is that Harry Dresden? I’m sure I have that audiobook somewhere so am looking forward to discovering your thoughts.

I haven’t watched the Royal Wedding yet but I have it recorded and am looking forward to it! I’ve loved all the pictures. Happy birthday to Mr. Caffeinated! Oh a new Jill Shalvis! I have the 2nd full length in the Wildstone series but I’m loving the Heartbreaker Bay series. Have a great week!

Katherine @ I Wish I Lived in a Library recently posted: This Week in Readng - May 20

I have been working on the GDRP stuff too. I have had a privacy notice for years on my giveaway page, but never even think about comments and replies. More work to do.

  16. Mandy

Sounds like it was a productive week even if you didn’t get a lot of reading done.
I’m still working on figuring out the GDPR stuff myself. I hope you find more time reading this week. Thanks for sharing. Have a great week.

    • Kimberly

I added comment tick box, I already had a privacy policy and just updated it and I’ve got SSL, so hopefully, I am good to go.

  17. A Voracious Reader

Well, crap. I guess I need to look into this compliant stuff though I don’t have a newsletter and don’t send out prizes for giveaways. Blerg. I did not watch the wedding, but I’ve seen pics and it looked very fancy. lol I hope you have a great week, Kim!

    • Kimberly

Crap is right. Hey, we’ve been friends on Facebook for six years..time freakin’ flies!

  18. Mary @StackingMyBookShelves!

I did not watch the wedding. Really, I just didn’t care that much. I did see the first few seconds of it to see the dress and then moved on. I have so much to do. My Aunt finally went home so, I should have some free time. I will have to get to the reviews I missed from you and some other great bloggers. Have a good week!

I’m not sure what the GDPR is or how it’s going to affect bloggers. I’m now wondering if I should be concerned about it. I’ve not looked into it at all.

Hope you have a great week!

  20. Darlene

A busy week, as always! Watching Stanley Cup Playoffs every other night is getting exhausting! My older daughter had her band concert on Wednesday night, so I didn’t get home until after 9:00 p.m. and rewound the game and watched it from the beginning. I didn’t get to bed until 1:00 a.m. The Jets have to win the next three games to win the series #GoJetsGo!!

A winter book already!? It’s not even summer yet, LOL! Have a good week.

  21. Lola

I’ve been working on GDPR stuff as well, for my business and my blog and one of my authors. That sounds nice you got some new things for your house. That’s too bad you didn’t get a lot of reading and listening done tough, but it does sound like you had a nice quiet week with some warm weather. Have a great week!

    • Kimberly

It sucks, doesn’t it? LOL I mean it’s not a bad thing, but I wish their language was clearer.

  22. Suzanne @ The Bookish Libra

GDPR has given me a headache all week too. I still have no idea if I’ve done everything I need to do. I didn’t watch the Royal Wedding live but I watched some of the coverage afterwards. It looked like a lovely ceremony and was a nice change of pace from the normal doom and gloom that is usually all over the news.

    • Kimberly

LOL, Suzanne, I keep tweaking everything. I am using WP GDRP and now have a checkbox for comments.

  23. Jessica @ a GREAT read

I had a mostly quiet week as well. Things are getting busy-ish at work since they’re moving us to a new building. Packing hasn’t started yet, but I’ve been making lots of phone calls trying to get things scheduled to be moved that we have serviced regularly. Fun times! Lol! I didn’t watch the Royal Wedding myself, just not that interested I guess. Lol. Hope you enjoyed it! Seems like people did, or at least my circle of following people on twitter and instagram!

Nice new reads! I got Kelly Meding’s new book too and I am super excited to read it! I loved her previous books! Dread Nation is another that’s been in my TBR pile for a short time now! Zombies anytime sounds like fun! Lol!

Hope you enjoy all your new reads!

    Here’s my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

  24. the bookworm

Sounds like a nice week. I watched the royal wedding too, they are so cute together, and I loved her dress and veil. Enjoy your week! Your new books look good, especially Down with Love.

  25. trin carl

I didn’t watch the royal wedding which surprised me because I watched Kate’s but that was right after I returned from London and was so into British culture at that time. I’ll probably catch up on it with Youtube.

  26. Carole @ Carole's Random Life in Books

Yay for new furniture! That is always nice. I spent a lot of time outside this week as well but really only because we were without power and outside felt nicer than inside 🙂 I am going to have to do more reading on the GDPR and do it soon. My week without power hit at a very bad time. I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

I am done. I’ve done what I can and hope its enough. I missed that you were without power that must have been awful.

  27. Tizzy

I’ve been trying to get my blog GDPR ready too. I also enjoyed the royal wedding, but I didn’t watch it live.

  28. Nicci @ Sunny Buzzy Books

GPDR hurts my head. Every time I think I have it straight, someone contradicts what I think and I’m left freaking out again. However, I think I have it now… Just need to write the privacy policy.
I’m also comforted by the fact there’d be a warning before any fines! So, if I have it wrong – and for some reason end up on a regulators radar – then I get a chance to put it to rights! lol

Right. I have the cookie thing which lets them know I use them, they can click to learn about it and I share about comments, data analysis etc I do not have boxes to tick on comments, but my cookie policy is clear on that. IDK. It is all confusing. As book bloggers, I don’t think they are particularly concerned about us.

  29. sjhigbee

That sounds like a lovely present! Nice to hear you are enjoying warm weather – we have also had some lovely sunny days, although the nights tend to be a bit nippy. I watched the wedding with my sister and we both thought it was a delight. Happy a great week, Kimberly.

    • Kimberly

It looks like dusk here and has rained off on and on all day…weather like this makes me lazy!

  30. Natalie @Natflix&Books

It was extremely warm here this week too. I feel like we skipped spring and went right to summer. I didn’t get up for the wedding, but the pictures were lovely. Happy reading!

    • Kimberly

You have to clearly share what information you collect and how you use it on your site. Read the blogger article I have linked about as a good starting point.

  31. karen

I watched part of the Royal Wedding. I saw Harry and Megan arrive at the church and then the priest started speaking. I walked away for a minute and my Miguel changed the channel. I was pretty sad to miss the procession but I worked a vendor fair selling books for That Book Store which ended up being a lot of fun.
Enjoy all your new reads and have a great week!

We watched the Royal Weddimg too. We’re so used to getting up at 339all week, we just stay of the schedule even on the weekends. The wedding was really beautiful! Your weather sounds great, rain all week here. Enjoy you Sunday!

    • Kimberly

Ugh, yes we have had rain all weekend too. I was hoping for sunshine today but alas it is pouring.

  33. Tanya @ Girl Plus Books

Wow, temps really shot up in your area! I watched a few bits and pieces of the royal wedding. I’m not a royal watcher but it was still easy to get caught up in the excitement of it all. There were a few clips of Harry that just made my heart melt. 🙂

Ugh, GDPR 🙁 what are you doing about comment replies? I turned off my plugin that replies by default and turned on one where the default is “no reply” and you’re supposed to choose it (and GDPR says no pre-ticked boxes). But nobody will remember to do that and now nobody will get my comment replies… it’s pretty depressing.

At this point nothing. I am hoping my privacy policy is enough. I am still looking for a solution.

  35. Astrid @ Vanilla & Spice Books

I ordered a new kitchen which will arrive at the beginning of July….Oh the joys of assembling! Sounds like yours went well!
I watched a little of the Royal Wedding as well and damn….if somebody looks at you like Harry looked at Meghan then you don’t need to look any further. So sweet!

    Have a great week!

  36. Cai

This week has been all about trying to get life back on track after the big move. I loved the royal wedding and I think she looked so beautiful and they both looked so in love. I definitely think that they will last the mile unlike their parents.

Sounds like your weather is lovely, we just moved from the tropics to the back end of autumn so it’s been bit of a change.

    • Kimberly too. Our old kitchen table lived in three states and survived three kids, it was time for a new one 🙂

  37. Tressa @ Wishful Endings

I didn’t get hardly any reading in either. It’s so sad when that happens. I also spent time getting GDPR ready for my blog and for Prism Book Tours. So fun. :/ You got some awesome additions this last week. I really need to get back to adding what I get back in. I’ve just been so busy that it’s become an extra that I’ve dropped.

    Have a lovely week!

  38. JJ @ This Dark Material

We’ve had warm weather here too lately—as high as the low 90’s! I’m also still chipping away at GDPR compliance; hopefully as a US-based blogger, a clear privacy policy will cover all the important bases 🙂

I think the most important things are a clear privacy policy and cookies. Have a great week!

  39. Maree

I watched the Royal Wedding, and thought it was lovely as well. They both looked very happy 🙂

  40. vvb

Oh fun to get new things for the house. Enjoy the new look to your rooms and happy reading.

  41. Michelle Gilmore

The wedding came on a little too early for me. I sleep hard on my off days, so I missed it by quite a bit. It looked lovely though. I have no idea what the GDPR is. I swear I stop paying attention for two seconds and stuff is changing all over the place.

    • Kimberly

Yes, I think book bloggers are at low risk, but having a privacy policy in place is a good start. I would rather err on the side of caution than get fined.

  42. Greg

I watched the Royal Wedding too, it was nice. And high 80’s? Wow. It’s been mostly rainy and 60’s here, but we have had a bit of 70’s. Yay for the new equipment. 🙂 Have a super weekend!

    • Kimberly

We had rain here all day today Saturday, but since we were busy with indoor activities we didn’t mind.
