So I need glasses to read and use the computer. All last summer when reading outside I wore 2 sets of glasses, my readers, and sunglasses. I hated it.  On off, on off. Ugh!  Not to mention how goofy I looked wearing 2 sets. I had no idea they made bifocal reader sunglasses and flipped when I found out! I ordered a pair and they arrived this week. First…wow. I bow to all of you who wear bifocals. This shit is trippy! It took me a few days of blur and adjusting but I am in porch reading heaven!  Mr. Caffeinated turned fifty-five this week and there was cake! All around it was a good week. I hope yours was the same. Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms. Stay Caffeinated!

Happy Mother’s Day!! Glad you got the glasses all sorted out, and yay for birthdays and cake. 🙂 Sounds like a good week. Hope you have a great Mother’s day weekend as well.

  2. Laura Thomas

Happy Birthday to the Mr. and Happy Mother’s Day to you! I wear bifocals and love them now that I’m used to them. Been experiencing some eye strain though so I think I need new ones. I see you got Heather’s book. I love her Krewe series. Happy reading and have a lovely Sunday:)

  3. Jackie Briere

Hi Kim, I’m so happy to hear your excitement over bifocals! lol, I too wear prescription glasses and my eyes have changed where I need bifocals. Thanks for the Mother’s Day wishes. Have a great day yourself!

Happy birthday to Mr. Caffeinated and Happy Mother’s day! Cake is always nice. I’m fortunate to only need glasses for longer distances, but the one or two times I tried my parents’ bifocals for fun they were indeed trippy! Glad to hear you’ve found the perfect outdoor reading accessory just in time for summer 🙂

There’s a door to Hogwarts in Chicago?? Let’s go! Haha.

I’m happy you got your glasses sorted out. I haven’t gotten new contacts since getting a new prescription, so I cannot wear sunglasses when I drive. It might be making me a little crazy. It’s soooo bright and I need some eye-shade. 😉

I was told last time I got my glasses prescription that bi-focals were coming. Ugh. I am not looking forward to them at all! Glad you’ve figured them out though and found the sunglasses. I saw your Instagram post about your surprise Bring Me Your Hearts package. Super fun! Happy Mother’s Day to you!

Ha! I get closer and closer to needing bifocals/progressives everyday, but the whole looking up, looking down thing is too much for me. I can still see enough small print, and read predominately on my kindle, where I make the font bigger. I hope you have a wonderful mother’s day!

Happy 55th to Mr. Caffeinated, and Happy Mother’s Day to you, Kim 🙂
I had no idea there was an adjustment period for bifocals… I am don’t need those just yet, but I know I will fairly soon 🙂
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

  9. emma

I had a similar experience with glasses and now wear vari-focals, which I love. Even better, I got vari-focal contacts so I can sit in the sun and wear my shades. Happy birthday to your hubby x

I never know what to do about sunglasses at this time of year. I used to have some prescription ones but they are about 4 years out of date now so they give me a headache. I know I need to get some more but they are really pricey. Happy Mothers Day! We celebrate it in March in the UK.

  11. A Voracious Reader

My husband and I need glasses for the small stuff. At his work they have bifocal safety glasses which I had no idea was even a thing until he told me. He said they were a bitch to get used to, but he’s managed now and they’re much more convenient them him having to pull out his readers when he needs to read something while out on the plant floor which is a lot. lol I hope you have a great week, Kim!

  12. Jenea’s Book Obsession

Happy Mother’s Day Kim! 😘 I swear I need bifocals, even the prescription I have I still have a hard time reading. Thank goodness I can make the words bigger in my iPad. Lol… love the new books you got this week. Happy belated Birthday Mr. Caffeinated too.

    Enjoy your Mother’s Day.

  13. Lola

That’s awesome you got a pair of bifocal sunglasses, that does sound handier than flipping all the time. I am glad to hear you managed to get used to them and can now happily read on your porch. I hope next week will be a good one as well.

  14. Lover Of Romance

My dad has those and yeah its really nice to have. And the type of glasses I have wouldn’t work with those clip on sunglasses. So I have thought about getting a presciption sunglasses.

  15. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Yeah, I’m a glasses wearer myself. I can never wear contacts myself, so glasses it is! Every time I need new ones I go to America’s Best to get my everyday pair and then I get a pair of prescription sunglasses so I don’t have to squint all day in the sun. Though of course in my neck of the woods we have reached unbearably hot weather, so there will be no sitting outside. It seems like we only get too seasons here, summer and winter. They are both never-ending and there’s only ever a handful of days that are in between! Lol!

Happy belated Birthday to Mr. Caffeinated as well!

Nice new reads! Seeing a lot of this Bring Me Their Hearts! But pretty much all new to me ones here! Hope you enjoy each and every one of them!

    Here’s my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

Happy Mother’s Day! I’m sorry to hear about the glasses, my mother struggles with them as well. I hope you’ll enjoy all the books you got! Have a wonderful day!

  17. Michelle@Because Reading

    Happy Mother’s Day!!!!
Glad you found something that works. I recently had to make the text a little bigger on my phone while I read. lol but my eyes are weird and my doctor thinks I wont need glasses just bigger text 🙂 By the time I’m 80 i’m gonna have one HUGE letter on each page.

Have an awesome week, Kim! Happy Reading!

Happy Mother’s day to you!!! Happy Birthday to Mr. Caffeinated!!!
    I hope you’ve had a wonderful day!!
I’ve heard bifocals are amazing once you get used to them. I can’t imagine wearing 2 pairs of glasses at the same time. I’ve always been a contact kind of girl when I’m in the sun for a long time.
Sounds like you had a great week. I hope you have a wonderful week.
Happy reading!!! Enjoy all your new books.

  19. Darlene

I don’t quite need reading glasses just yet. My vision is 20/10 although I do notice that I”m starting to have to hold pill bottles at a distance to focus on the tiny print. Sheesh, I hate that!! One thing I do notice is that I have trouble reading in dim light. It’s starting! I’m glad you like your new bifocals.

Another Frater book! I’ll have to check out that series. Have a great week and Happy Bday to your husband!

Happy Birthday to your super hubs and have an awesome Mother’s Day!! You deserve the best weekend ever!!

I’ve had progressive bifocals for years and I just adjusted my rx again and was reminded about how trippy it literally it is 😳. That’s awesome you discovered them and they work.

  21. Chloe @ Book Dragons

Wooo cake and I have glasses for working on the computer so I don’t strain my eyes xD it can be a pain though particularly as I end up wearing most of the day at home, cause I’m constantly on my laptop. Hope you have a great week 🙂

Happy Birthday to your hubby and Happy Mother’s Day to you! I’m fast approaching where I need to get bifocals as well. Can’t drive without glasses, but can’t read with the ones I use for driving. I’m glad to hear it only took a few days to adjust to them. Hope you have a wonderful week!

  23. Melissa (My World...in words and pages)

Happy mother’s day! And glad you got your new glasses, and getting the hang of them. 🙂

Have a great day with family today!

  24. Mary Kirkland

    Happy birthday to your hubby.
I have to wear reading glasses too but I can’t walk around in them at all. lol I wear sunglasses outside but I don’t read outside.

Happy Mother’s Day, and happy birthday to Mr. Caffeinated! And welcome to the world of bifocals. I’ve been wearing them since college, though back then it was only in class (to see the board and take notes.) But I’ve worn them full time for 12 years… the kind with lines, because I’m told I might have difficulty with the progressives. Now I have bifocals for general use, and dedicated computer glasses because my screen is too far for the reading prescription and too near for my distance prescription. So it’s still a lot of “on-off” during the day!

  26. Jolene Wilson

I have to wear readers every once in awhile but my husband keeps telling me bifocals are in my future. I keep him quiet with Oreos. Hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day.

  27. Danielle

Happy Mother’s Day to you! I hope you have enjoyed a lovely weekend <3 I have always wondered about bifocals. I find the idea fascinating, but feel they would definitely require an adjustment period. Glad they are working out! I had Lasik a few years ago. I am just now needing readers at times. But so far it is not an issue 🙂

  28. Tanya @ Girl Plus Books

LOL Had to laugh at your take on the bifocal reader sunglassses (“this shit is trippy” ha!). I wear multi-focal contact lenses and it took some getting used to. And when I wear glasses (bifocal) I often switch to my bifocal sunglasses. It’s definitely an adjustment!

Happy Mothers’ Day to you and everyone your side of the pond, Kimberly – I hope it’s filled with sunshine and suitable appreciation:)). As for glasses – I’m in varifocal-land and find it harder to get accustomed to the accompanying sunglasses, but then we get less opportunity to practise in this country. I hope you have a great week.

  30. Sophie

Haha yes I struggled when I had my glasses first. But you’ll soon realize they are handy. Happy Mother’s Day!

  31. Samantha

When my mom first went to bifocals she kept tripping over her own feet. She had the hardest time adjusting!! But, after a few days she got the hang of it. Glad they are working out for you to be able to read outside! Have a great week!

I couldn’t get the hang of the bifocals so I exchanged them for a regular prescription. I didn’t think I needed them and not sure why my doctor recommended them lol. I hope you have a great Mother’s Day and week!

  33. Nise'

Happy Mother’s Day. Glad you are seeing with less glasses. I wear multi-focal contact lenses just fine, but when I wear my glasses with bifocals it takes a bit to get used to them.

  34. MarthaE

Happy Mother’s Day and Happy BD to Mr. C. Glad the new glasses are working out. I have monovision contact lenses so I can relate to blurry/trippy.
Glad you had a good week.
I see some review titles and new titles that are interesting. Happy Reading!

  35. shooting

Happy Birthday to your husband, and Happy Mother’s Day! That’s awesome you got glasses that actually work. I have prescription glasses but not sunglasses, so reading outside can be tough sometimes!

Happy Mother’s Day to you too! That’s great you now have glasses that you love for reading in and outside. Happy Birthday to your hubby. Glad you guys had a wonderful time. I like your book haul. I hope you enjoy!

  37. Lorna

When I had my cataracts out, all of a sudden I could see. It was wonderful. Until I went to read. Couldn’t see a thing. So now I buy inexpensive readers and literally have them on top of my head all the time. I use them constantly. The kicker is I had to get prescription glasses just fot the computer. But I can see anything far away wonderfully. So on my laptop, I literally am switching back and forth with both pairs. I was in trifocals by the time I had my cataracts out. Pretty trippy. And it’s middle of the night and I am rambling. Sorry! Have a good week!

  38. Stephanie Jane

Glad you have got new glasses to suit you! My OH wears bifocals too and it always takes him a few days to adjust to a new pair. From his experience, be hyper-aware of things like kerbstones – they may be closer than they appear :-/

Happy Mother’s day! Glasses can be a pain to wear. I hate mine, but I’ve had to wear contacts or glasses since I was in the third grade, and that has been a while. Lol

  40. Tyler H. Jolley

I’m so not looking forward to the days of readers, especially with my day job. My optometrist has me doing “pencil push-ups” with my eyes to help prolong the need for readers. Dang, getting old sucks. lol. I hope you had an awesome Mother’s Day, Kimba! You deserve it!

It certainly seems so. I had no idea so many people are gluten-free and that there are so many book bloggers. It’s fascinating. After I posted a comment of course I refreshed the page and like 15 more people linked up, so more visiting available.

I have no problem seeing distance and hope that continues, as I would be doomed. I am however considering surgery to correct my sight so that I no longer need readers.

  42. Bookworm Brandee

I hope you had a happy Mother’s Day, Kimberly! I love sunglasses/readers! They rock. I didn’t know about them either until I went to Kauai last September for my friend’s wedding. That’s when I found them. Before then, my husband used to laugh at me about wearing sunglasses and readers at the same time. But you gotta do what you gotta do, right? Enjoy your new find and happy reading my friend!! <3 <3
