Oh, my am I tired. Have you ever had a week where nothing goes right? You can’t sleep, your dead tired and tension headaches follow you everywhere? That was my week.  It began with website issues last weekend that slowly escalated. Everything was rolling along fine and then boom I was having server-side capacity issues. I didn’t dare comment last weekend as loading times and usage were sending off warnings. Plugin testing, SQL Optimizing and scrutinizing my Database resolved the issue but it took four days of behind the scenes grunt work and Googling. On the bright side, our weather during the week was spring-like. Mr. Caffeinated took the day off on Friday and we took the Royals to the Zoo. Of course this weekend it feels like we moved to a completely different state. Lows in the twenties, snow, wintry mix, and winds. I was so tired this week I only finished one book and I am working on an audio. *lifts coffee mug* Here’s hoping this week is fabulous!  Stay Caffeinated!

  1. Laurel-Rain Snow

Oh, some weeks just suck! I hope the upcoming one is smooth and fantastic!

I hope to get my hands on The Family Gathering really soon.

    Great Totally Random…

  2. Greg

Oh no sorry to hear about the website issues! That can be frustrating and time consuming, no doubt. And we’re having the same weather here at the moment- wintr storm warning, winds. Ugh. No spring for us yet!

Hope Smoke & Iron is good! And Half Off Ragnarok- gotta check your review on that. 🙂

  3. Laura Thomas

The gremlins are on the loose. I ahd some issues too but nothing compared to yours. Good to hear you got them resolved. I hope this week is a better one and you can also get some reading time in:)

  4. Tressa @ Wishful Endings

My week felt a bit like that too. Just way to busy and too hot. This weekend was cooler. I’d freeze with your weather. How do you like Rachel Caine’s Library series? I’ve eyed it for a long time, always wondering if I should pick it up.

    Have a much better week!

    • Kimberly

Her library series is one of my favorites. It was the highlight of my week getting that surprise package in the mail. I hope you try them.

  5. Dani @ Perspective of a Writer

Awwww you poor thing! I’m just now self-hosting and there are so many things that I am learning to do and I can’t even imagine having problems like what you speak of… googling?! Google what?! ACCCKKK!!! Well I hope next week is better with more reading,,, but the zoo sure sounded like fun <3

    • Kimberly

How to Optimize your SQL Database (server side), Known issues with WordPress and PHP 7 etc. The biggest advice I can give is to only use plugins that are maintained, keep them and WP updated. Make sure you do daily or at minimum weekly backups. I’ve been doing this for 7 years so you get better as you go.

  6. Michelle Gilmore

We are having spring weather finally…though it’s verging on summer some days. It has been a long week…I hope all of the website issues have been resolved and that you get some much needed down time.

  7. JJ @ This Dark Material

So sorry to hear about the website problems! Hunting through Google and code is never fun. Happy to hear you enjoyed some lovely weather though 🙂 Here’s hoping winter gives way to spring soon!

    • Kimberly

It isn’t, but every time I learn something new and in the end, despite the aggravation, I find it fun.

  8. Astrid @ Vanilla & Spice Books

Argh sounds like the week from hell. And when reading falls victim to everyday problems I get really cranky. I’m sorry that you had so many troubles. Here’s to a better week and spring will return!

PS. I loved your review for Guardian’s Bond. I think it was a strong start to the series.

  9. Megan @ Ginger Mom and the Kindle Quest

Your weather sounds a bit like mine. The beginning and middle of the week were spring-like and now we are getting upwards of a foot of snow, blowing all around. Like Winter threw a temper tantrum, slammed the door, and came back “and another thing!” (That was how it was described to me lol). And website issues are the worst! Glad to hear you got it working again.

    • Kimberly

Thanks, Megan. A foot of snow! Oh lordy. We got a few inches and its fa-fa-freezing. I think the website issues have been fixed since either as no one has complained about issues linking up or commenting. *lifts coffee mug* Here’s to warmer weather soon!

  10. Cricket

I’ve been really tired this week and had trouble sleeping but still had to figure out how to function. That didn’t happen. Sorry about the website issues because I know that can be a pain. Hope you have a great week!

    • Kimberly

I think stress makes you tired even if you get a good nights sleep. Coffee helps me function…LOL

  11. Sam@WLABB

Eek! Sorry to hear about your website issues. Glad you were able to finish the week with a nice trip to the zoo.

    • Kimberly

It was nice to be outdoors. We have a yearly pass to the zoo and it was fun. Have a great week Sam!

  12. Maureen Bakker

Sorry to hear about your website issues. That sucks.
I hope this week will be better, and your able to get some rest.
Have a great week and happy reading!

    • Kimberly

Ahmen to that Cahleen. I did, in fact, make extra coffee all week to get me through. Hope the week ahead is good for you.

  13. Natalie @Natflix&Books

That sounds horrible! I’m minimally savvy when it comes to the tech side of blogging. Glad it got resolved! It is gorgeous here this weekend, but it’s supposed to drop back down to the 30s this week. Happy reading!

    • Kimberly

Yeah, it is winter out there today, and sadly the warmest day forecasted for the next 7 days is only 59. But I will take it. I learn more every day thanks to blogging.

  14. Jenea’s Book Onsession

Ugh! The website issues sound just awful. I’m glad you were able to get it all situated though. The trip to the Zoo with the Royals sounds like a lot of fun, I bet they enjoyed it a lot too. I would say you keep your snow, but we have snow coming tomorrow, after such a pretty week here. Happy Sunday.

  15. Karen

8 had some website issues too this week. It is really frustrating. I am sorry to hear that your week was bad. Hopefully this week will be much better.

  16. Vi @Inkvotary

Poor thing. Technical problems AND no sleep = no good combination. But you were able to solve it, so that´s a plus, right? And your zoo pictures were wonderful. Thanks for them. Enjoy Spring, and have a great weekend and new week.

    Best wishes
    Vi

  17. Tanya @ Girl Plus Books

Oh my gosh, Kim, what a week. I was about to say “at least the weather is better” but then I saw how your cold temps are back. Ugh! Surely you’re due a week that is smooth sailing. I hope you that just that this week.

    • Kimberly

Haha..yes I am due. The wind is howling right now and I am thankful to be inside chatting with you all, coffee in hand.

  18. Lola

That sounds like a bad week. I hate those weeks where nothing seems to go right and headaches are the worst. It can be tough to fix website issues, especially when you aren’t sure what’s causing them. Glad to hear you managed to figure it out, even tough it took so long. I hope next week is a better one for you!

    • Kimberly

Trial and error Lola, trial and error. I did pick up some new skills though. So Caffeinated for the win!

    • Kimberly

Thank you, Christine. I slept in until 11:11 this morning. Apparently, I must have needed some extra rest.

  19. Chloe

Hope this week is better for you! Tension headaches are awful, whenever I get stressed I tend to get migraine symptoms which is never fun when you start having blurry vision. And at leas you still finished a book 🙂

    • Kimberly

I am grateful for finishing one. I was just so tired by the time my day ended. Migraines are nasty. Let’s hope we all have an awesome, stress-free week!

  20. Grace @ Rebel Mommy Book Blog

Oh man sorry about the website issues. I would be lost if anything happened to mine. We had the same warm weather and now its 40 out there again. Nuts! Yay for the zoo. Hope you have a better week!

    • Kimberly

It is crazy. It is so hard to make the little ones understand when we cannot go out. One day we play outside and the next it is fa-fa- freezing.

  21. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Oh bummer! Technical issues always suck. Unless you are the optima tech guru, which I don’t know of any sadly! But glad you were able to finally get things worked out!

Nice new reads too! Hope you enjoy both as they are new to me ones!

    Here’s my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

    • Kimberly

LOL. Yeah Google, talking to host etc and muddling your way through. I will say my knowledge base continues to grow.

  22. Yvonne

I’m sorry to hear about your week. I hope you’re feeling better and that your website issues are taken care of. We had one beautiful day of 70 degree weather yesterday and today it dropped to the 40’s with a lot of rain. It’s cold and windy out there. I’m so ready for summer. Hope this week is better for you.

  23. Deb Nance at Readerbuzz

I’m older than you, but I always seem to be tired now.

I’m so sorry to hear about your troubles with your blog. I always worry that will happen to me. I guess it will happen to all of us one of these days.

  24. Michelle @Because Reading

Sorry your week wasn’t that great. Website issues are the worst and I never know what to do. My host usually is able to help but it causes me such stress.
The weather was hot this last two day but today it’s much colder. 40 but the wind is ridiculous!
Have a great week, Kim! Happy Reading! ox

    • Kimberly

Yep, my host cleared up an issue well at least directed me that wasn’t directly related to this but did solve another mystery. LOL Even though I hate issues, I do like that each time I learn new skills. For instance, did you know that GASP messes with Askmit? For years some folks always end up in my spam folder. As soon as I deleted GASP my spam went down and peeps who should be approved are. Who knew?!?

  25. Mary @StackingMyBookShelves!

I can understand about the site issues. I am so far behind on my posts. My Aunt is staying with us for a few weeks while she recovers from surgery and well, just haven’t had time to pre post for next week. =( But I hope things get better this week for you.

  26. Stormi Johnson

Ugh, sorry to hear you had such a long worn out week! Hope this one is a lot better!

Have a great week and happy reading!
    Stormi

  27. Darlene

Grrrr, technology is so frustrating when it doesn’t work!

I really need to start the Great Library series! It sounds great. Hope you have a better week!

  28. Nick

Oh no! Sorry about all the website issues, Kim! It sounds like it was very frustrating but glad you got it all resolved. The day at the zoo sounds lovely. I’m glad you had a good time.
Also, I saw you guys had more snow coming your way! Keep warm!!
I hope this week is better for you, Kim!

    • Kimberly

Yeah, it is cold and mizzy here. The week ahead looks like we will only see one semi-warm day with a high of 56. UGH.

  29. Chrissy

Sounds like a crazy week! I hope this week goes better. Website issues are the worst. I’m glad you got everything working again.

  30. Bookworm

Ugh computer issues are annoying, but your trip tot he zoo sounds nice. Enjoy your week! Hope it warms up again soon. It’s the same here, yesterday it was in the 80’s but today we are back to low 50’s again.

  31. Samantha

Last week kicked my ass! I was exhausted and over it!! This week has to be better for both of us, right? (if it isn’t, I don’t think I will make it!)

  32. Whitney

I’m with you on the weather, it has been crazy the past week. Friday it is sunny and beautiful and Saturday brings freezing rain. Website issues stink, and they are so time consuming. I hope you have everything worked out. Have a good week Kim!

  33. Berls

Ugh I’m sorry, that does not sound like a fun week 🙁 I think not having to really worry about website/server issues is my favorite thing about blogging with Michelle lol! I mean if something really bad happened I’d help – but since it’s all hers, there’s very little I CAN do.

The zoo at least sounds like fun – though again, tiring! We’re taking the kids to the zoo for our field trip in May and I’m both excited and dreading it. LOL!

Hope you have a better week!

    • Kimberly

That does take the stress off. We have a yearly zoo pass, so we can spend a few hours, get tuckered out and go home. It’s not like when we go for one day and need to try to squeeze in everything. Food was seriously pricey. 4.95 for a medium beverage. Yikes.

  34. Danielle Chapman

Sorry you had such a crazy week with your blog! 🙁
This weekend is chilly for us as well. I woke up to the temps in the 30s this morning! Our normal is the 70s!!

  35. Danielle

Headaches are definitely no fun! I hope the server issues were resolved for you, but at least it sounds like Spring is settling in? It is grey and rainy here, mid 50s, so yeah Spring haha. Hope that the headaches have passed. Sadly I am no stranger <3

    • Kimberly

Yeah, when I get unusually stressed it creates havoc on my autoimmune and the next thing ya know I am suffering headaches and pain. Thankfully I didn’t get sick.

  36. Lily

oh no, sorry your week was so stressful D: hopefully things will turn around this week

  37. sherry fundin

Is this a trend? I had a very rough week and am still recovering myself. The whole year has been rough and I can only hope it gets better…for all of us. 🙂

  38. Kristin (Book Sniffers Anonymous)

Eeesh. Sorry to hear about your week. I try not to touch anything on my site because I always manage to screw something up and have to call tech support to help me dig my way out of the mess. I’m just glad that you were able to fix all the problems and get your site back up and running. 🙂

    • Kimberly

Oddly enough I was just puttering along and did nothing. It was a few things that had to do with WP updates and a plugin I’ve had forever. Ironically I don’t miss it.

  39. Sophia Rose

Isn’t it amazing how you ‘touched nothing’ and end up with a catastrophe? Hope you got all your blog ugly done for the year with that one.

Yay for the fun day on Friday to make up for the return of winter. We had a Thursday like that. I soaked up the warmth and the sun and now back in the sweat shirts and thick socks. 🙂

    Have a good week, Kimberly!

    • Kimberly

Haha… yes. I did figure some things out and learned some new skills so despite it all it was a win.

    • Kimberly

It was fun and it is always lovely to see the Royals get excited about things. They both love the fish and penguins.

    • Kimberly

Right. Well, Sunday’s are the sites hardest day and we seem to be puttering along just fine So fingers crossed.

  40. Amy

I hope this coming week is better for you but at least you went to the Zoo and spent some time with family!

  41. S. J. Pajonas

We had a lovely week weather-wise too and now it’s windy and 40 degrees outside. Brrrr. I hope you have a better week next week!

  42. Molly

I think the weather is affecting all aspects of life. Last week was crazy for me as well. At least you got to enjoy the zoo with the royals before the weekend snow 🙂

  43. Anna

I hope this week is better! I had the same weird, oscillating weather– I have had both the heat and the air conditioning on in my apartment this past week.

  44. ShootingStarsMag

Hah! I love that totally random meme. It’s so true sometimes. Sorry this was a rough week; I hope it’s MUCH better this week ahead and I hope the weather turns around for you again. I hope you had fun at the zoo though. 🙂

    -Lauren

  45. Stefanie

I like that gif you posted at the end. I feel like that sometimes. This week my body has been adjusting to working out every day. I am usually sore afterwards and sometimes just veg out here, so tired afterwards. I didn’t get as much done as I would have liked this week but I’m happy I got in some knitting and knocked out a card.
Zoo outing in the 20’s? Holey bagels. The animals are actually still out in that weather?

  46. Laura@Library of Clean Reads

My week was sluggish and I was dragging my feet too. This crazy weather doesn’t help at all. I like the look of Smoke and Iron. Enjoy your new books! I hope this week is fabulous too.

  47. Angela @ Angel's Guilty Pleasures

Oh my I hope this week is better for you. I’ve not had the internet/computer/website issues, but I’ve had those days/weeks where I’m dead tired and nothing makes it better. I’ve heard some people had some spring weather, but then the snow came back… Ewww. I don’t miss that kind of weather. We’ve had a lot of rain, but also some very nice sunny and high 60’s low 70’s weather. My garden is blooming wonderfully and I really like that about CA. ^_^ Hope you have a wonderful week and happy reading.

    • Kimberly

I am jelly of your garden. I miss Florida. We would move tomorrow, but now that my daughter is divorced we won’t leave until her children are grown.

      • Angela @ Angel's Guilty Pleasures

It’s nice to have family around to help with the kids. We moved away from all our family who are in Northern IN and IL, so we don’t have any help. I do miss the help, but I do like having a garden year round. It’s nice to have sunny days even it is cold/cool.

  48. PixiReads

Wow, sounds like you had a busy week. So glad to hear your issues have been resolved. I also liked the totally random pic; I can relate too. Thankfully not recently.

  49. JoLee

Glad you got everything worked out with your computer. I hope you and the family had a blast at the Zoo. I would love to go the zoo or not have to wear my snow boots no more. The weather is crazy right now. We are like you guys too. I hope you have a better week.

    • Kimberly

The snow melted all of our snow today except for a few patches. It was freezing this morning, then warmed up to 58.

  50. MarthaE

    Love the Random image!
Some weeks are like that. Glad you got through. Hope you have a better this week.
    Happy Reading!

  51. Aj @ Read All The Things!

Sorry about the website issues. That’s one of the things I hate most about having a blog. Something breaks, and it takes forever to fix, and it’s a massive pain. I hope this week is better for you.

  52. Tyler H. Jolley

I wondered if you were having website issues? I was having a hard time getting the site to load. I suck as web design (obviously) so I just assumed it was my computer. If that happens again in the future, would you like me to shoot you an email, or do you get notified?

    • Kimberly

Absolutely. Sometimes it is simply a traffic jam, but other times it is an issue. I am hoping it is resolved now.

  53. Anna

I wonder if there was something in the air because the week sucked for me as well. Looking forward to a better week! Happy reading!

  54. Lorna

Ouch! Website issues is exactly the reason I would never be able to do a blog. Glad you got it straightened out! I saw you zoo picture. It’s so fun to go to zoos although it’s been a long time for me. Hope you have a better week!

    • Kimberly

It is simply put a pain in the arse. Not so much if you are a light blogger, but the older and heavier your site gets..ugh. It was nice to get away for the afternoon. We have a Zoo pass this year, so we can go for a few hours and really enjoy one or two exhibits. There is no parking so its a cheap trip.

  55. Katherine @ I Wish I Lived in a Library

I need to stop complaining about it being cold here when the temps get in the 50s! That sounds awful. I do love going to the zoo and hope the Royals had a wonderful time. Sorry you had a rough week last week. I hate those times when it seems like everything is going wrong. I hope this week is going better and that you’re having a nice week!
