Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

I had to drop everything and dive into the audiobook, Gaslight by Dannika Dark. The Crossbreed series is so addictive, but I have recovered and I am back on track with, Take Control. I’ve started my tenth book and just realized most of my books were by Seanan McGuire.  This week was long and hard. I think I fell asleep before midnight every night but Thursday and still dragged every morning. The Royals and I got to play outside Wednesday and it was a joy to see them running up and down the yard with smiles a mile wide. On Friday we had thunderstorms, hail, and heavy rain. It was dark and gloomy all day. It hovered around freezing but never crossed over. Thank goodness.   Stay Caffeinated!

Kimberly, how little sleep can you function on?? I’m falling asleep by 10…sometimes earlier. And I’m not running around after little Royals all day. 😉 I can’t wait to start the Crossbreed series! *squee* We had snow on Sunday and I’m not complaining one bit. Our winter hasn’t been very wintery…and now it’s spring! Gah! Glad you’re doing so well with Take Control…I’m working on my 5th or 6th book. 🙂 Hope you’re having a great week!

    • Kimberly

Five to six hours is about all I need. I hope you love the Crossbreeds series as much as I do. Sounds like you are doing good with Take Control. Ugh, snow is such a dirty word! LOL

  2. Lorna

So happy you got your Christian Poe fix! I read an ARC of it, but I also bought it on audio today. It was one of my favorites of the series. I watch tv by myself because we all watch different things mostly. I talk to the tv whenever something happens I don’t like. I talk to myself lots of times so I can relate. So here we are on the first day of Spring and not only do we have a nor’easter getting ready to hit us pretty hard tomorrow, but we are being hit with an entirely different storm this evening. Snow accumulating for both. So strange. Hope you have a good rest of the week.

    • Kimberly

Nope, I held out for the advanced audio. LOL The weather sucks, we had rain, thunder, and snow. It is damp and dark out now. Be safe!

  3. Daniela Ark

oh oh here we go again! Kim! You are like a virus to my TBR! Here I come to add yet ANOTHER Danika Dark series! LOL Sorry to hear you were so tired. Hope this week is going better!

  4. Katherine @ I Wish I Lived in a Library

Yay on 10 books for Take Control. That’s impressive! I’ve been wiped out here but I think it’s mostly due to allergies. Whatever the reason my reading has taken a serious hit. I’m super excited about the Jill Shalvis you got! I just got the first book in the series from the library and am looking forward to getting started on it. Have a great week!

  5. Nise'

Spring arrives this week, but the weather needs to catch up! Looking forward to Hooked On You on audio too.

  6. ShootingStarsMag

Hah! I talk to myself sometimes too, It’s all good. I had really nice weather too, which I tried to enjoy because it’s supposed to start raining and snow some by Tuesday I think. Sigh.

    -Lauren

  7. Sophia Rose

Yay for getting outside. Today was that day for us. I thought it would be last Thursday, but then a big windstorm came up and it was just a tad chilly.

I know what you mean about the ‘drop everything’ books. I had one the week before and one last week that interrupted my book schedule (I need to start putting my big pre-order books in there as if they were review commitments). But, I’ll be back on track this week.

    Enjoy your next week!

  8. Angela @ Angel's Guilty Pleasures

That’s great you guys got outside. We’ve been having ran off and on. It will rain then stop for 30min then downpour then be light rain. Crazy rainy weather. I hope you enjoy your book haul. I need to try Dannika Dark. I’ve heard great things about the Crossbreed series. Have a wonderful week and happy reading.

    • Kimberly

Yep. The sun hasn’t been out since Thursday here and more of the same all week. It looks like dusk here all day.

  9. JoLee

We had a beautiful Sunday here in MI. Glad you were able to get out and enjoy your day. For sure had a giggle moment with your Totally Random. That is so me but more at work. But I have yet to congratulate myself. That is awesome. Happy to see you are liking the Crossbreed series as I got Keystone (Crossbreed #1) on sale last month. I am curious about Christian Poe.

    • Kimberly

Yes and if it was just me, I’d grab a coffee, turn on a reading light and use it as an excuse to time travel fro my sofa…but the Royals were here so be built a rocket and went to the moon.

  10. Samantha

Glad it didn’t freeze or snow at least! That is the best anyone can hope for in March, right? Enjoy your books! You got some great ones this week!

  11. Mallory

FYI – Christian Poe ruined my attempt at the Beat the Backlist and my self-imposed book buying ban this month! I had Keystone on my TBR pile since it came out. I read the book March first and it was all downhill from there… I’m hoping to get caught up on the series this week! (And then mope around the house until the next one comes out) This is EASILY my favorite Dannika Dark series!

Hope you have a great week, Kim and happy reading!

    • Kimberly

*Happy Dance* Yes, at least Christian is worthy of making you break the ban. I completely agree. I thought my favorite was Mageri but nope its Crossbreeds all the way.

  12. Carole @ Carole's Random Life in Books

It’s great when you get a book that you are so excited to start. I hope you loved it! I can only imagine how nice it was to see your grandchildren having so much fun. Stay safe with the weather. I am so ready for warmer temps to show up and stay awhile. Enjoy all of your new books and have a great week!

  13. Charlie

My sleep has been jacked this week, too. I was dragging every morning. Returning to work on Monday is going to kill me. Seeing those you love happy is so great. We had clouds roll in Friday and it looked like it would rain. It only lightly sprinkled for about 20 minutes on Saturday night. Hope it warms up!

  14. Lily

We had some time outside this week also, hoping can get some today but it’s going back to chilly 🙁 so looking foward to better weather

  15. Jenea’s Book Onsession

I talk to myself all the time! Hehe… Your day with the aRoyals sounds like a lot of fun. We had nasty storms last night with quarter size hail, had to check our car this morning for damage. Luckily there wasn’t any. Whew.. Enjoy our Sunday!

  16. Jasprit

I know how you’ve been feeling Kimberly, this week has been super long, I’ve been trying to stay up and read, but sometime I just want to sleep by 10:30! I’m loving Meader’s series, I can’t wait to dive into her lately book! And I look forward to seeing how you get on with The Kiss Quotient! Happy reading 🙂

  17. Michelle

I talk to myself sometimes, especially when I’m too stressed out.
The title for The Kiss Quotient caught my eye. I think I’m going to pick up the book once it’s released.

Have a great week! Stay warm!

  18. Kat

This meme is such a good idea, I’ve been looking for a weekly update meme, thank you for hosting this! I’m with you on the weather, can’t wait until Spring comes and we get a little bit of warmth. Happy reading!

  19. Stefanie

I hope you’re keeping warm and healthy. We’ve been having on and off wet weather here in the Bay Area, CA. The cover of Don’t Look Behind the Door is cute. Unfortunately my library doesn’t carry Dannika Dark so I’ll have to look for her at Half Price Books. My library also has what seems random books of Jill Shalvis, an author I wanted to try b/c she’s so popular a;nd Katherine of I Wish I Lived in a Library always raves about her. Makes me wonder who’s in charge of ordering books from the library and how the heck does she/he make the decisions. It aggravates me to find books further in a series and the first one not even in stock.
I think I’m going to join your Sunday meme because I’m always prepping my book post Sunday for it to publish in the wee hours of Monday. Off to work on my post and finish my organic, detox tea.

  20. Bookworm

Have a great week and stay warm! Gaslight sounds like a good one. I am lucky if I make it past 9pm lately…lol.

  21. Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard

Stay warm, my friend! The weather has been weird this year. After the unseasonally warm temperatures of part of February, March has been a bit chillier than usual here. We might even get snow on Wednesday, which doesn’t usually happen this close to spring.

My adult child loves the Wayward Children series. I have yet to read any Seanan McGuire, but have three series on my TBR list: Incrypted, October Daye, and Wayward Children. I hope I enjoy them as much as you have been!

    • Kimberly

I am loving the Wayward series as well. Incryptid rocks. I have only read book one of October Daye and I liked it, so I am going to reread and begin again.

  22. LORI CASWELL

I am thrilled that we have Spring-like weather today, but it is not going to last 🙁 I am so ready for warmer temps.

It was a rough week for me as you will see from my post.

    Lori

  23. Danielle

Are you a big Seanan McGuire fan? I recently read Every Heart a Doorway and was not a hundred percent sold on it, but plan to continue. I did read her adult sci-fi title Into the Drowning Deep penned as Myra Grant and loved it though.

Glad to see you were able to enjoy a bit of time outside this week. Have a lovely week ahead!

    • Kimberly

I have read everything by Grant, and love McGuire. I just finished the second Wayward Children book and it was so darn good. I love her Incryptid series too which is UF.

  24. Natalie @Natflix&Books

I can never stay on a reading schedule. If I feel like I have to read a book, I won’t want to and won’t enjoy it. It has been cold here all week and looks like it will stay cold this week too. Ready for warmth! Happy reading!

    • Kimberly

I am the same Natalie which is why I love blogging ahead. I only have 3 arcs left to read for April and can select based on my mood.

  25. Tyler H. Jolley

Glad you it didn’t freeze! This time of year is so hard on plants when that happens. Good job with your challenge, you know I love following along. Happy reading, Kimba!

    • Kimberly

Our grass is still brown and there are no signs of immerging plants. We have had snow as late as May 9th.

  26. A Voracious Reader

Sometimes you just gotta drop everything when you have a book that uses its siren’s song on you. Been there, need the t-shirt. lol The weather is mood swingy, but hopefully Spring will stick around for awhile. I hope you have a great week, Kim!

  27. Suzanne

Great job with the challenge so far! I’m hoping to start my 8th book this week but need to knock out a couple of ARCs first.

I’m so over the cold weather. We have snow in the forecast again this week and I wanted to cry when I saw it. I’m really hoping the storm fizzles out before it gets to us.

Hope you have a great week!

  28. Michelle @Because Reading

I honestly at this point would prefer a nice rain/thunderstorm over snow. I am hoping the one this week will miss us but it’s not looking like it will but maybe it will rain instead.

Have a great week, Kim! Happy Reading! ox

  29. Darlene

I must try Dannika Dark! I need to get caught up on a few more series before I delve into a new one 🙂

Happy to hear that you are enjoying the weather outdoors. It’s not quite that warm here. We still have snow on the ground, and the temp goes up to nearly zero but nights are still chilly. I can’t wait to have thunderstorms! I love them. Have a great week!

    • Kimberly

I love thunderstorms too Darlene but not when I have the Royals. The dark gloomy day was harder on them. They need to run. Has anyone ever gifted you an Audible book? If not, I could gift you the first Mageri book.

  30. Jolene

I am looking forward to your review of The Broken Girls. Have a great week. The first day of spring is this week!!!!

  31. Lola

We had some warmer days, but now it’s around freezing again. It’s really weird. That sounds great how you were so excited for that audiobook, that you dropped everything to start it. That’s nice the royals got to play outside once already. Have a great week!

  32. Nick

I’ve been feeling very sleepy too this whole week, Kim! It’s a struggle. Enjoy The Kiss Quotient. I absolutely loved that book. It is 100% one of my favorite reads of the year.

    • Kimberly

So glad to hear you loved it. I have it in the queue for closer to the release day since right now I am in an urban fantasy/paranormal mood swing.

  33. Andreea

The weather is rainy here too – plus the day starts with sunshine and gets everyone excited and then suddenly it’s raining and the cold is back. This happened almost every single day last week!

Enjoy your new books and have a great week! Hopefully the sun come here for good.

  34. Amy

I’d much rather have thunderstorms than the snow we currently have! It definitely isn’t spring here. Have a great week 🙂

  35. Evelina @ AvalinahsBooks

We also have the worst “spring” weather! Like, it’s sunny and all, but the temperatures are SO mean that omigosh… it’s literally deep in the negative Cs. We’ll be having a late spring this time, it seems.
I hope you have a great week 🙂

  36. Cahleen

Just put your hand to your ear when you talk to yourself so people will think you’re using bluetooth headphones – not that I’ve thought this through really carefully or anything.

    • Kimberly

LOL. Thankfully I work from home, so only my grandbabies look at me cross-eyed when I have these little conversations.

    • Kimberly

Yes, we have a lovely park at the end of the street and I cannot wait until we can spend mornings there.

  37. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Glad to hear things are good, but wow, must be busy times if you’re up that late every night! Of course I’m the weirdo who goes to bed super early since I wake up super early to exercise! Lol!

Nice new reads!! That Crossbreed series looks interesting! I might have to check out the first book! Hope you enjoy all the rest of your new reads!

    Here’s my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  38. Yvonne

Rainy Day Friends looks good. Jill Shalvis is always a good choice. Hope you have a great week!

  39. sjhigbee

Yes… we now have snow on the ground and only a couple of days ago, the temperature was in the mid-50s. Quite what the birds and insects think of this weather, goodness only knows – but I HATE it! Hope your weather warms up soon, too, Kimberly:)

  40. Cai

We had a Cyclone here yesterday but I am glad that we don’t get hail here! Hail scares me!!

Hope you have a fantastic week.

  41. Karen

I think talking to yourself is the sign of a glorious mind. Thats what I keep telling myself and I agree!
Glad you got out tgus week with tye Royals. It has been bitter cold here. The wind just cuts into you and takes yoour breath away.
I hope you have a great week!

  42. Sophie

I’m like Astrid above never making it to midnight!!!
I hope the weather gets better for you and that you’ll feel less tired.
    Have a wonderful week!

  43. Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews

YAY you got Gaslight, then 🙂 I have’t listened to it yet (I have read it, though…) I have two other audios to finish first. I’m glad you enjoyed it! I am going to come pick your brain in private on FB 😉
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading!

  44. Sam@WLABB

I am asleep EVERY night before midnight. We can only hope spring is on its way. We have another storm brewing up the coast. There will be tears if we get an accumulations this week. Great job with your challenge!

    • Kimberly

Normally I am up until 1ish and up at 6:30 to start my day. I will pray there are no accumulations totals for you!

  45. Tressa @ Wishful Endings

Your week sounds like my week. I got to bed late every night trying to keep on top of everything and was still up early the next morning and running full steam all day. I forgot how much longer it takes to get stuff done with kids home as they were off for spring break. Hopefully we both have easier weeks ahead and nice weather. 🙂

    • Kimberly

I have Friday off this week and hope to catch up on so many things. Let’s hope the week is an easier one 🙂

  46. Tanya @ Girl Plus Books

I love a good thunderstorm – especially if I’m at home. It’s the perfect day to stay inside and cozy up with a good book.

I tend to talk to myself at the office. My boss will walk by, hear me muttering to myself, and laugh. But it helps me to talk things through! LOL

    • Kimberly

Oh, I agree Tanya..perfect time to curl up with a book near a window. But all day with a three and one-year-old..nope.

Yes, it helps me think too.

  47. JJ @ This Dark Material

I seem to be in the minority who love dark and gloomy weather haha 🙂 I’m happy you didn’t have to deal with a freeze, though! And I wish I could get my brain to quiet down before midnight…maybe I need to run around outside and exhaust myself this week!

    • Kimberly

I enjoy them when I don’t have to entertain the Royals. They are perfect for snuggling up with a good book.

  48. hillary

It has been cold here too but as my friends say that is what I get for living in Cleveland. LOL I hope this is a better week for you!

  49. Jackie Briere

Hi Kim, I saw you had finished Gaslight on my Goodreads timeline. That’s awesome! And that you read 10 books for the Take Control. You’re on a roll! I only finished 2 more books this week and one was a novella so that makes 7 books so far. I’m having trouble concentrating. What else is new. I hope this week is better. Take care.

    • Kimberly

Ugh, last night it was after 4 am before I could doze off. All the dampness is bothering my joints.

  50. Sophia @ Bookwyrming Thoughts

Ha! Apparently I talk in my sleep, so I guess that’s self talking?

Anyways, ifi talk to myself, it’s very vague and no one hears because I’ve learned to do it my head.

Weather wise it’s been surprisingly nice for me, though we did get some rain and chilly temperatures, but it went back up later.

  51. Laurel-Rain Snow

I have been eyeing The Broken Girls. and Rainy Day Friends.

Hopefully you will have a less stressful week. Thanks for sharing…and for hosting.

  52. Cricket

I talk to myself too, lol. Glad you had a good week. The weather has been crazy lately, hopefully Spring will settle in soon. Have a great week!

  53. Greg

Yikes stay warm! It’s been the same here, it just will not get out of the 40’s, and we’re lucky to get that honestly! So aggravating. 🙂 Sounds like you’re on a bit of a Seanan McGuire tear.

Hope the new week is easier, and enjoy your weekend! Happy St. PAtrick’s Day (although I guess that was yesterday now, lol)

    • Kimberly

We will be a bit warmer this week with temp highs in the 50’s but lots of rain. Happy St. Paddy’s to you too!
