Half Vampire, half Mage, she's spent years living as a rogue to stay alive. When a Russian Shifter offers her a job in his covert organization hunting outlaws, dignity and a respectable career are finally within her grasp. The catch? Her new partner is Christian Poe-a smug, handsome Vampire whom she'd rather stake than go on a stakeout with. They're hot on the trail of a human killer who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. One misstep during her probationary period could jeopardize Raven's chance at redemption, and her partner would love nothing more than to see her fail. Dark secrets, unexpected twists, and a blurred line between good and evil will keep you on the edge of your seat. Will Raven find the courage to succeed, or will she give in to her dark nature?

She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love. She's wrong.

Some really great recommendations on this list. Narrowing down to just 5 would be tough. I plan to start the Dannika Dark Seven series soon. I’ll have to check out Unbecoming too. If I were to offer a recommendation, I would add Those Who Wish Me Dead by Michael Koryta read by Robert Petkoff and The Utterly Uninteresting and Unadventurous Tales of Fred, the Vampire Accountant by Drew Hayes and read by Kirby Heyborne.

  2. Wattle

I love the Harry Potter audios (and am still halfway through listening to book 5 or something, oops!) but I’ve only heard the Stephen Fry ones. I might be tempted to check out the Jim Dale ones one day. For research purposes ;P one can never have too much Harry Potter in their life!

I really do wish I could get into these more, maybe I should give them a second try. I think if I use earbuds instead of trying to play it out loud, I will have better luck with them.
Thanks for all the great recommendations Kim and for the giveaway!

I’m currently listening to Sugar by Deirdre Riordan Hall and really like it. The narrator really conveys the emotions of the characters.

  5. Melissa

Janet Evanovich has great books to listen to, as well as Cleo Coyle. Love them all

  6. Melissa

Love Cleo Coyle and Janet Evanovich Books. Harry Potter ones are amazing on trips as well.

  7. Debbie Haupt

Kim thanks for the generous giveaway Wow. I love how an audio book changes the feel of the novel, wether its a more in depth feel because of the emotions, or just simply in some paranormal/uf hearing the right pronunciations. I love audio books. I’m listening right now to Donna Augustine’s A Step Into the Dark a novel which I loved reading and even so more now that I’m listening.

  8. Janie McGaugh

For myself, there are a lot of audio books that I’d listen to for a road trip. One I think would work for my husband, too, is Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series.

  9. Courtney Whisenant

I have so many favorite narrators but some of my auto-buy narrators are Joshilyn Jackson, Carla Mercer-Meyer, Imogen Church, Jenna Lamia, Nicola Barber, Luke Daniels & Nick Podehl. For a road trip, I would recommend something by Imogen Church. The way she brings a story to life will suck you in and make the time fly by.

  10. Tyler H. Jolley

Harry Potter is an absolute must on a family road trip. No one ever tires of it.

  11. Linda Townsend

I LOVE audios! I can’t just recommend one, though… I have too many favorites! So… I’ll recommend the one I’m listening to right now that is keeping me on the edge of my seat. It’s a romantic suspense by one of my favorite authors:: Resurrection (Redemption Harbor series Book #1) by Katie Reus voiced by Sophie Eastlake. Katie’s audios are always a great choice for my road trips!

  12. Sophia Rose

I have the Potter series on the list of wishes. I just listened to my first White Trash Zombie. And while I haven’t listened to this book by Christy Romano, I’ve enjoyed two others that she’s done.

A few of my favorites that aren’t listened are The InnKeeper Chronicles by Ilona Andrews and narrated by Renee Raudman, The Shadowy Horses by Susanna Kearsley and narrated by Sally Armstrong, Lost Lake by Sarah Addison Allen and narrated by Janet Metzger, Deep of the Sound by Amy Lane and narrated by Nick Russo, and I’ll stop with Strength and Honor by RM Meluch and narrated by John Glouchevitch. 🙂

  13. Susan T.

For a road trip I would recommend Where’d You Go, Bernadette
by Maria Semple. It’s funny, touching and light enough to not be too distracting. It also involves travel! 🙂

  14. Dianne Casey

I enjoyed the Tradd Street series by Karen White on audio. I enjoy listening to audiobooks while in the car.

  15. Nina

Years ago I saw the book My Life as a White Trash Zombie in the bookstore and I always had the intention to buy it. But, then as usual I bought a lot of Terry Pratchetts books and forgot about it. Still it sounds very interesting and the little bit of audio I just listened to makes me want to get it.

  16. Paige

I love the Harry Potter series narrated by Jim Dale! Another great audio book is The Secret History of the Pink Carnation read by Kate Reading.

  17. Bookworm Brandee

Well, you know White Trash Zombie is a series I plan to listen to in 2018. And I have NOS4A2 and Keystone in my audio library already…NOS4A2 thanks to your review. 😉 As for something I’d recommend…anything with Beverley Crick narrating, Kim Harrison’s The Hollows series, Dannika Dark’s Seven series, and Kylie Scott’s Stage Dive series. All great listens!

  18. Danielle B.

I recently started the White Trash Zombie series on my kindle, might try the next one on audiobook sounds great! I’m listening to The Raven Cycle series on audio right now and it’s read by Will Patton. He is so surprisingly good. Looks like that’s the only fantasy he’s narrated though, mostly thrillers. Also, my favorite audiobook of all time World War Z, it’s got an amazing ensemble cast of narrators including Alan Alda, highly recommend it for road trips.

  19. John Smith

“Share an audio you recommend for a road trip or a favorite narrator.” I listened to “The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making,” read by the author. I’m not sure that the author was the best audiobook actress, but it was interesting to hear the tale!

  20. mary henaghen

We have used Harry Potter as road trip reads, and anything narrated by Mary Robbinette Kowal is amazing!!

  21. Written Melodies

I haven’t mastered the ability to write a book review from an audiobook, but I’m working on it! Currently, I’m listening to Runaway Throne by Jennifer A. Nielson and read by Charlie McWade. A few of my favorite audiobooks are The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah read by Polly Stone, From Sand and Ash by Amy Harmon, and The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielson.

  22. Meredith Miller

My favorite narrators are Lorelei King, Davina Porter, Scott Brick, and Oliver Wyman.
