Sunday Post

I devoured 8 books over the long holiday weekend, ate way too much food and spent time with family and friends. It was blissful. Today, we are off to Vale’s Pumpkin Patch, for an event sponsored by Mr. Caffeinated’s work. It is one my daughter, her husband and the Royals enjoy.  I’ll be playing catch up on comments but will make the rounds 🙂

My haul this week is a mix of books/audio. Some I forgot to share and realized when I went to review them. Annnd,  a slew of new audio review arrivals. Like the library, all of the audios I requested arrived on the same day!! Look for reviews of the Tantor titles in October and November. I will be gone September 16th through the 26th. We are driving to New Jersey for a celebration of life. Pray for me, we are taking the Royals with us, as I provide day care and neither parent has time off from work. It will be quite the adventure. Although we will be staying with family, and family will be arriving daily, so lots of hands to love babies.   Enjoy your weekend and as always stay caffeinated!

I hope you enjoy your pumpkin patch trip! Always a lot of fun! Good luck driving to New Jersey with the Royals. That is a long drive – especially with small children! You have so many new books this week that look fantastic and I’m really looking forward to your The Lying Game review this week. I love the narrator for Ruth Ware’s books. Have a great week!

It will be a long drive. We are borrowing the kid’s mini-van, so we will at least be roomy. We want to celebrate our Uncle’s life and allow some of the older members of our extended family to see the Royals. Our Mom and Dad haven’t met Clayton yet.

  2. Greg

Have a great trip (and good luck- ha ha)! At least you’ll have lots of family to help, sounds like! Looking forward to seeing what you thought of The Lying Game- I liked it- and Stillhouse Lake, which I kinda want to read.

    Have a great weekend!

8 books over a weekend is AWESOME, Kim! It would be impossible for me to read that many. I hope you enjoyed them all. Yay for the new trip! Enjoy your time with your family. Don’t worry about commenting, etc. We’re still here when you’re back. Have a wonderful week and happy reading. ❤️

Have fun at the pumpkin patch today! And I’m sure your trip to New Jersey will go well 🙂 We have always brought our kids everywhere. They all went on a plane before they were two months old… we drove to Italy, took the train to Germany… They just needed help to have a goal for their energy at times 😉
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

We did as well, but of course, it’s different when you are in your 50s and bringing grands along. I was in my twenties towing my little ones every where! Nonna may need a nap.

  5. Savanah

EIGHT books in a weekend!! You are amazing!! I envy you your ability to focus. I hope you have fun at the pumpkin patch! Always so much fun.

That’s an awesome amount of books read over the weekend! I need to do some catching up, which hopefully I will for my RAT that begins Monday. My books seem to all come at the same time too. Requires a little more management that way. Travelling with small kids is always an adventure. I hope it goes well and safely, and you find some fun as well. 🙂

  7. Evelina

That sounds awesome. 8 books! You are lightning-fast. I almost didn’t read, cause I had my sister over from the States, and right after her – three friends from other countries as well. I am soooo tired! But it was fun.
Congrats on all those new approved books 🙂

Hope you have a wonderful time at the pumpkin patch and survive the drive to NJ. At least you know you’ll have help once you’re there. I just saw that one of the library services I use has Alex, Approximately on audio. I’m definitely snagging it sometime soon. Happy reading!

Except for Darynda’s and ooomg I am so behind in her series! I’ve got to get caught up asap!! Hope you enjoy your little vacay with The Royals and the new reads!

Oooh pumpkin patches are always so much fun!. I’ve been curious about Little Fires Everywhere so I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it. Alex, Approximately is fantastic (one of my favorite books of the summer hands down) so I hope you love it! Have a great trip!

  12. Sydney

I hope you have a wonderful time at the pumpkin patch and on your trip to New Jersey! It seems like it will be a fun couple of weeks! Also, enjoy your new books!

  13. Karen Blue

Wow Kimberly! Eight books is awesome. I hope you and those babies fun today at the Pumpkin Patch.
Also, have a safe trip. I would say have fun but I guess this isn’t that kind of trip. I hope things go well.

Wow, you read in one weekend what I read in one month!! I’m glad it was a good weekend for you. My younger daughter was ill, so I didn’t get done what I expected but what can you do?! I was busy doing decluttering/clean-up inside in anticipation of company arriving sometime in the next month or so. I still was very productive! Be safe on your travels and enjoy your time with family. The Ellison book sounds really good!

Have lots of fun at the pumpkin patch, Kimberly. I haven’t been to one in years, but remember how much our kids loved them. And I will be thinking of you during your trip to New Jersey and your time there. I’m sure it won’t always be easy especially since you’re also caring for the Royals, but I hope it will be a positive experience overall.

I’m going to check out the K-9 book you got since I love reading books about working dogs and their handlers. And good for you reading so many books over Labor Day. Hope this is a good week for you.

  16. Melissa (My World...in words and pages)

Wow. You have to be a fast reader. Eight books is a lot! I’m such a slow reader. *sigh* Oh hope you have a great time at the pumpkin patch. And later in September when you head to New Jersey. 🙂

    Take care!

  17. Kathy

Have a safe trip! A road trip with toddlers can be stressful. When my kids were that age they just came out with the portable dvd players, so I made sure we had their favorite movies and shows. Now everything is easier with tablets and you no longer need to bring the dvd cases lol. I hope you enjoy your new books. I also have Alex and need to catch up on Charlie Davidson. Have a great week!

Kim, pumpkin patches are up already?!? Wow! Time sure is flying by. It will definitely be an interesting adventure with the kids and being away. I hope everything goes smoothly. You’re so kind to offer day care to your grandkids. 🙂
I hope you enjoy all your new goodies! Everything looks great!

I had my first pumpkin sighting this week at a grocery store. I was so excited, I will be heading to a pumpkin patch soon! I LOVED Little Fires Everywhere.

  20. A Voracious Reader

I will hopefully have time to devour books again soon. Congrats on the 8 book meal! 😀

I will send out {{{posivibes}}} for your trip. I have every confidence you will survive. Tired, I’m sure, but you’ll have fun. 🙂

I hope you have a fantastic week and safe travels, Kim!

Isn’t it lovely to have a long weekend for reading?! Sounds like you spent the weekend immersed in books. 🙂

Oh, wow, is it time to start thinking about the HoHoHo RAT Challenge already? That means it’s also time for me to start planning for my choruses. I didn’t realize how far into September we’d gotten!

Enjoy the pumpkin patch, and safe travels with the Royals later this week. It’s a challenge traveling with wee ones, but I know you’re up to it.

I hope you had a nice trip! And it looks like you got a few good ones that you read.

I really like Liliana Hart. And I keep hearing good things about The Unlikable Demon Hunter, but I can’t seem to get very far into it. I start it, then just lose interesting.

    Have a good week.

Wow! I hope you have a wonderful time – we’ve been away a couple of times with Frances when she was a dot, but never with both of them together… I’ll wish you fine weather and lots of stamina:). Though if you are also staying over with family – as you say, having plenty of hands to hold the babies is always a major plus:).

It was important to us to attend the celebration of life for my Uncle, plus our family is scattered, so this will afford them the opportunity to meet Clayton. Most met Sophia during a happier event.

  25. Rachel

So many good books! I’ll be checking out a lot of these. Because we all need even more books for our TBRs, right?!?! 😀

Have fun in New Jersey! I hope traveling with little ones is uneventful. 🙂

  26. Danielle

I have missed so much! It sounds like you have a lovely holiday week. I am looking forward to pumpkin patch trips soon as well. I hope you enjoy. I will be starting Little Fires Everywhere this week if all goes as planned. I look forward to your thoughts on it. I have seen some very positive feedback. Happy Reading <3

With the royals, too? Oh now that does add a bit of something to your travels. 🙂

Oh hey, I got four of the same in my haul: White Trash Z Unchained, Alex Approximately, On the Chase, and Twelfth Grave. Haha, and yes, that is how it goes- feast or famine.

Have a good week. Loved the sound of your last weekend. 🙂

Yes, we wanted to attend the celebration of life, but couldn’t go without them having a sitter..so have babies will travel 🙂 It will be good for family who have not yet met the Prince.

  28. Jen Schaper

Enjoy the pumpkin patch! We haven’t been to one in probably five years. or longer My kids are too old now. (or so they say)
Have a safe trip to NJ.
Great books this week 🙂 Congrats on getting 8 read, too.

I hope you all enjoy the pumpkin patch. The Man and I went to a LARGE one last year, but it was extremely family-oriented. The Man got very frustrated, although he did get us out of the Texas corn maze. We had to find all the cities named after presidents. I’m going to have to kidnap a friend’s kid to go again. And then we didn’t even end up carving our pumpkin!

  30. Carole

Wow! 8 books over a long weekend?!? I am very impressed. It sounds like you have some really exciting things lined up. I am sure that your trip with the Royals will work out just fine. Enjoy all of your new books and have a great week!

I am looking forward to devouring it. Just need to get some ARC audios out of the way 🙂 Thanks, Christy, it will be good to see family regardless of the circumstance bringing us together. 🙂

  31. Tyler H. Jolley

Oh Kimba, you are so brave. This will be a road trip to remember for sure. My weekend was great lot of activities. My oldest is kicking butt at football. I absolutely love watching him play.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Ha right. My daughter and her husband are trying to hold back their excitement and the prospect of 10 days without kids, as it is a solemn occasion. We are going to tackle most of the trip on the first day and thankfully have a week before we repeat the process for the trip home.

  32. Melanie Simmons

I’m just now getting caught on visiting sites. I was on vacation in Canada for a week before Labor Day. I hope you enjoy your time with the Royals and family. I grabbed several of the same books you did. I’ve already listened to White Trash Zombie Unchained and had a great time with it (review to come). I hope you enjoy as much as I did.
