Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

Guys, I can’t even. I was going to reply to comments regarding my blogoversary but yall made me emotional! {{hugs}} So instead, I  just visited back. On Tuesday, things got hairy… the Royals were sick, our AC unit finally died, and we were without air for a few days.  On Thursday, we lost our Aunt. It’s been a tough year for losses, and our Mom has had to say goodbye to two of her younger siblings. Thankfully there is some good news about my week.  We have a temporary patch on the AC unit, and we are getting a new AC and Heating unit installed Wednesday. Pray the patch holds until then. Our roof and gutters will be replaced next week all thanks to the horrific hail storm we had in June. Ugh, the biggest homeowner expenses all in the same fiscal year! I am silently hoping the week ahead brings only welcome news. Caffeinated’s Blogoversary Giveaways are still open,  so be sure to enter as you check out my week of posts featuring “Six.” The holiday books are beginning to appear, or maybe I am just now noticing them. I am gathering some for the HoHoHo Readathon coming in November. Look for sign ups on October 11th. I will also be looking for challenge Elves hosts. Contact me if you’d like to participate. As always, stay Caffeinated!

I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your aunt and your other troubles this week. Homeowner-wise it always seems like everything happens at once. You can be sailing along with no problems and then within a month all appliances die. A new roof and AC in 1 year is rough but hopefully once done you’ll be good for awhile! Your 6 blogger post made my week and I’m looking forward to your other blogiversary posts. We’ve been out of town this week and I’m several days behind. Have a great week!

I am so glad you enjoyed the Six posts, Katherine. It was a lot of fun putting together. True problems seem to come in

  2. Greg

Sorry to hear about your aunt Kimba! Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way. And the AC too- I remember when ours went out a couple years ago, it was horrible. Hope your patch works and all the AC trouble is behind you soon. 🙂

Hope you have a nice week, and enjoy your blogoversary celebrations!!

Thank you, Greg. Yes, the last time it broke we went without air for 4 days and temps were in the low hundreds. We all hated each other..bwahaha.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Oh, that is awful, we had ours go out one time and it was over a long holiday weekend with temps in low 100s. We all hated each other…LOL

  3. Michelle Gilmore

I’m sorry to hear about your aunt, Kim. I hope everyone is feeling better and that the AC fix goes off without a hitch. It’s truly been a rough year so far, and I really hope it improves for you.

I’m so sorry to hear about your aunt’s death. My deepest sympathies to you and your family, especially your Mom. I’ll keep you in my prayers.

I’m also sorry you had a rough week, but at least things are looking up a bit!. A roof and an AC system in one year is tough. Thank goodness for insurance, at least for the roof.

Happy blogoversary again! I need to check out your “six” posts. I read one or two but this was a whirlwind week for me, between getting ready for my trip, a few unexpected occurrences, and visiting my family. So I didn’t get around to all of the posts yet. But I’ll be by again in the morning!

Yes, two summers ago we fixed a major part after a holiday weekend without air and 100+ temps, so we knew it was coming. I will be happy not to have to think about it for at least 10 years since all is covered under warranty. I love all things, Pooh, too!

  5. Evelina

Oh no! Sorry about your aunt 🙁 yes, I’ve noticed that you’ve got sad news on a lot of Sundays. I hope the rest of the year is much kinder!
And again, congratulations with 6!!! It’s so awesome. I hope I’ll also still be blogging after 6 years 🙂

Right. This has been a crap year..but there have also been a lot of happy happening. I told my hubby the cloud has to move on. Hopefully sooner rather than later!

  6. Sam

Sorry about your aunt. I hope your A/C problem gets resolved soon, and your roof repairs go well. Our A/C started acting up about 2 weeks before we were moving. It was a nightmare. Have a great week.

  7. Lexxie

I’m so sorry to hear about your Aunt, Kim 🙁
I hope this coming week will be a very good one, and that the rest of 2017 will be filled with only joy, love and good things!
I got an invitation for the Macomber title, but I haven’t decided if I will click the link or not (though I probably will 😉 )
    Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading! {{{HUGS}}}

  8. Karen Blue

Oh no! All those homeowner expenses add up. I hope the a/c patch holds. I am so sorry to hear about your Aunt. You have had quite a few loses this year. How sad. I have come to realize in my family that for every new life (birth) there is one that leaves us (death). I don’t foresee any babies in the near future, so I hope I am right. I hope the Royals are feeling better. Have a good week Kimberly!

Thank you. Well, at least we will be good to go for another 30..LOL I think it is the older we get the more death we see. Some like my Aunt go way too young.

  9. sjhigbee

I’m very sorry to hear about the loss of your aunt – it seems things always have to even out. We get to a stage in our lives where the grandchildren are a joy – only to find the generation above us are leaving, one by one… It seems to have been a testing year for you – I’ll keep my fingers crossed the patch holds until Wednesday – we don’t have the trial of keeping aircon going – just the central heating in the winter. In the meantime, I hope you have a slew of wonderful books to read!

Hope the kids are feeling better and your A/C unit holds up. We’ve been so stormy and muggy here that I would pass out without mine right about now.

I was away when you announced your Big Six, yay to you! There’s a reason that your blog has swelled to such a loyal following: you make this a fun blog to visit, and it shines through that you are having fun too! Congrats on a job well done~ (I’ve been reading your blog since about year 2, so I’ve seen it grow)

I’m so sorry to hear about your loss and for the difficult week. I hope this week will be a better one.

I’ve noticed the holiday books are popping up now, but I can’t seem to get motivated to deal with them yet. LOL Although, Merry and Bright looks good. Can’t go wrong with Debbie Macomber.

Hope you have a better week!

  17. Jenea's Book Obsession

So sorry for your families loss and your week. At least you got a fix for the air and I hope the royals are feeling better. Poor babies. 🙁

Being without air sucks. You’d think in MN that things were more colder than hot but when it’s hot, it’s really Hot!!!!Hope you get a new AC soon.

  19. Nick

Oh no! It sounds like you had a bit of a rough start to the week, Kim. I’m glad they were able to find a temporary solution for the AC while they fix up your new one. That sounds like a good company.

YES! I noticed lots of holiday books are coming out soon, which makes me happy, but also, where is the time flying. It stresses me out too much to think of that.

Hope you have a better week ahead, Kim! Happy reading!

  20. Kathy

I’m sorry to hear about your Aunt and AC problems. Home repairs are expensive and a headache. We are repairing our fence from all the rain we had but having problems dealing with our neighbors (who are renters and can’t get a hold of the owners). So we are just doing the repairs ourselves while we still have good weather. I hope you have a good week and happy blogiversary!

Kathy recently posted: Weekly Wrap-Up #129

Ugh, dealing with neighbors can be tough. Thankfully the two biggest expenses of homeownership will be dealt with and we should be good for 20-30 years 🙂

  21. Aleen

Oh that sucks! We’ve had that happen before too, but luckily it was fixed quick. Hope your patch holds up.

I’m super excited about the HoHoHo Readathon! I already have some of my books lined up. 😉

I’m so sorry to hear about your aunt. Our year last year was the same. My dad lost his dad and two of his older brothers within a year of each other. It was rough for all of us. Praying for you all (especially your mom). Hope this is an easy-going, lay in your pjs kind of week for you!

  23. Sydney

I am terribly sorry about your loss. Wishing you the best of luck this coming week, and I hope everything with your AC works out!

  24. lisa thomson

Hi Kim, sorry to hear about your challenges of late. Everything breaks at once, it seems. Christmas novels so soon? Honestly, this summer has been the fastest of my life and I suppose next year will be even more so. Therefore, it makes sense that we’re already talking Holiday readathon 😛 Congrats on your Blogoversary!! Nice to have giveaways…I will try to get in on those. See ya soon!

I hope your week continues to get better and happy blogversary lady! Your blog is great and so is the Sunday Post meme! 🙂

  26. Charlie

I’m so sorry to hear about your aunt passing. I can’t imagine how your mother feels. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. Home repairs and even small updates are expensive. I have been thinking about some things that need to be taken care of at The Man’s house. It’s a little running list in my head, but will come with a price tag. I hope the patch holds until the new unit arrives.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yes aside from kitchen remodel, your roof and heating/ac will be the biggest expenses. All said and done our’s totals around 20,000.00 Yikes!

  27. Sophia Rose

Poor Eeyore and his little black rain cloud- I can see why you chose that one. What a week, whew! Yes, you do need your turn at an easy one.

Loved seeing all your Six Anniversary posts. Yay for HoHoRAT coming soon. I think I’ve got a half dozen Christmas-y reads already for the fall review pile. I also snagged that Merry & Bright one.

Have a great week (and yahoo for those noise-cancelling earphones you got b/c roofing day will be loud. LOL)

Oh, I know…but I will have the Royals, and Princess Sophia already has a habit of saying, “What’s that noise?” When she hears something so it will be a long few days. Bwahaha.

  28. Barb (boxermommyreads)

So sorry for your loss. Man, it seems like everything that can go wrong with a house seems to happen at the same time huh? The HO HO HO readathon sounds fun so I think I’ll participate this year. Although right now I’m in the mood for horror reads. I can’t wait to get to Rituals. I have it on reserve at my library but they’ve been closed for 2 weeks because of renovations. Hope you have a wonderful week!

We have had a rough homeowner year as well! Our heat/ac died in May, then we had a sewage backup in our basement resulting in a huge clean up that cost 5k and the need to replace some pipes costing 4k. We haven’t even begun to fix the area so the basement is partial drywall, no carpet, just a mess. Oh well! What can you do?
    Hopefully next week is great!

  30. Lover Of Romance

I am so sorry to hear that you have been having a not so wonderful week. I am sorry to hear about your loss and your A/C unit not working. My A/C went down a couple times last week, and I got heat exhaustion because of it. Not fun. Hope you have a better week this week. And Congrats again on your blogiversary!! I have just loved your blog and sharing books with you.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thank you. I am hoping for a quieter week, heck I would even enjoy a boring one. LOL, These things shall pass. Your words about the blog made me smile 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

Oh yes small spaces without AC are dreadful. So far the patch has held and if it died today, the weather for the next two days looks to be tolerable.

  31. Darlene

Sorry to hear about your hellish week. I hope your A/C patch holds and that everything gets done. Sorry to hear about your mom’s siblings. That’s so tough. My mom is in the same position, watching the continued decline of her siblings and it’s so hard on her. Big hugs to your mom!

Yay for the Christmas books! Is that the new Macomber? Oh, I’m jealous 🙂 I can’t wait to read that one. Have a better week!

Kimba, I’m so sorry for your loss of your aunt and the home repair stuff. I really hope that’s all the bad you’re going to deal with for the rest of the year. Take care and I’ll be sending you good vibes on Wednesday.

  33. Jen Schaper

Sorry to hear about your aunt and your other difficulties. We recently lost my father-in-law. I can relate about the home repair issues, too. Everything seems to be breaking on us, even cars. Today the lawnmower belt broke. It’s something new every day. Anyway, I like how you always find the positives. I’m going to try to look for the bright side of things more often. Thanks for the inspiration 🙂
I’ll have to read your reviews of the Tess Gerritsen and Tessa Dare books. They both sounded really good when I saw them on Amazon.

Thanks, Jen. Yes, these things seem to come in threes as they say. Our roof is being replaced today so think of me every time you hear a loud obnoxious bang. Bwahaha. Despite the loss, and rough week I have a lot to be grateful for and I try to remember that. Hope your week is a good one!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thank you, Steph. Today we are getting new roof and tomorrow new AC/Heating Unit. We will be traveling to NJ in September for a celebration of life. I am looking forward to HoHoHo too!

  34. Lorna

So sorry to hear about your aunt! And then to have your AC go out. I would be in a hotel. Seriously, it’s been so hot here with heat indexes in the 100’s. Hope it’s not that bad there. When my nephews siding on his house was ruined by a hail storm, their insurance paid for it. Seems like it should apply at least to the roof! At any rate, I hope it gets all sorted out and that next week is better for you!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yes, insurance covered roof and gutters all but our deductible! The new roof is done, waiting on gutters and AC/Heating unit being replaced as I write this. I will be happy when all of the noise, men, and change to my routine return to normal…LOL Thank you, Lorna.

  35. Kay

So sorry about your aunt and to hear you had such a horrible week. I don’t know what I would do without AC. I don’t think my dog would be very happy that is for sure. I hope you have some sunny moments in the upcoming weeks. Sometimes being a home owner sucks.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thanks, Kay. Yes, sometimes it feels that way, but the benefits far out way the problems. New roof is done aa well as the new AC/Heating. This has been a much better week aside from the
