Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

For the month of July, I managed to read/listen to twenty books and I am currently 10 books ahead on my Goodreads challenge. Not bad for the lazy days of summer. Summer needs to slow down. Our weather this week has been downright Fall like. Highs in the mid-seventies and lows in the fifties. I had to take a throw with me to enjoy my coffee on the back deck this week. For those who asked, my stitches are healing nicely. We had a quiet weekend after a busy week of work and Royals. This afternoon we will be taking Sophia to the Children’s Museum courtesy of Mr. Caffeinated’s employer. We figure no more than three hours of fun and she should be wiped out. I may have Jury Duty in September, which is fine but I worry about who will watch the Royals since I do it for free. I have some great posts and new books lined up for the week ahead. Stay Caffeinated and enjoy your week!

Good job staying on top of your goodreads goal! I am so behind. Happy to hear your stitches are healing. I love the cooler evening. It was in the high 60s tonight as we grilled out, and it was perfect. Happy reading!

I would welcome fall like weather right now. It’s been so humid and hot here lately. I hope you have a great August. It seems as if the summer is flying by. I am glad to see you enjoyed Dark Rites and The Strange Case of the Alchemist’s Daughter. I have my eye on both of those.

I hope you have a great week, Kim, and here’s to a great month of reading in August.

  3. Greg

Glad you’re healing up good! And wow that IS fall- like weather. It was hot here all week except for Friday, when the temp plunged! It felt a lot colder than it was, of course, after two months of summer heat.

Hope you have a great weekend! 🙂

Yes, I agree! The summer seriously needs to slow down. That’s awesome you’re ahead of your GR challenge too, Kim. I am as well, though I’m a cheater who starts out slow and slowly increase my goal as I reach each mini goal lol!
I hope you guys have fun at the museum. Happy reading and take care! 🙂

  5. Lexxie

You’re the second person saying they already have fall-like weather :O I hope summer will last a bit longer, but I long for cooler nights!
I’m glad your stitches are healing nicely 🙂
Jury-duty, huh? hopefully, it will be a case that is easy to deal with, only needing a short time to deliberate 🙂
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading!

  6. Sam

I always loved visiting museums with my daughter when she was little. We have a great Children’s Museum near us. Have a great time! And, I need to be where you are, because that’s my kind of weather.

  7. Megan

It has felt like fall here as well I don’t know what is happening with the weather! Hopefully we get a little more sub before summers done. Have a good week.

Oh that’s a nice amount of books you got through in a month. I read 12 books which is a lot for me :). We have some rain and wind that makes it feel a bit like autumn, but it does stay warm. Have a great week!

Wow.. July has been good to you! I had to adjust my Goodreads challenge, since getting married in May definitely didn’t help my reading list. LOL! But it was worth it. Next year I’ll do better! 😀
Here it has been raining a lot. Sometimes the sun get through for a little while, but mostly rain. I hope it get better this week.
    Happy reading Kimberly! 😉

Congratulations of exceeding your Goodreads goal. That’s amazing!!! I’m very jealous haha. Also great to hear your stitches are healing nicely.
Cannot wait to see you post for Most Anticipated releases for Fall. Look forward to it.
    Have a great week 🙂

Well done on your Goodreads goal! And I’m glad your foot is healing well. As for your weather, I’m borderline envious. Even with a break in the heat and humidity, it’s still in the 80s here, and I’m SO not a summer person. Give me fall and spring any time!

Good luck with the jury duty thing. (I mean that sincerely, not sarcastically.) I’ve only been called once and I was able to get excused because I was breastfeeding at the time and my daughter wouldn’t take bottles. (Only in a small town, I suspect!) So you could ask about it given that you’re the children’s carer. You never know. I wouldn’t mind serving now — too bad I can’t offer to take your duty! But they don’t allow that and it’s too far away anyway. Still, I would if I could. 🙂

We are having fall like weather here and I am worried that winter will come early since the weather this year has been weird and I hate winter. 🙁 I don’t mind a long fall though so maybe that will happen instead…lol.

    Happy reading!

Please, Stormi, don’t even think that winter will come early. I cry just thinking about it. I get trapped inside and my joints ache.

Princess Sophia is here, but we may not be going. We had a leak under the kitchen sink that we tried to fix on a Saturday. We now have no kitchen sink and no hot water. *facepalm*

  13. Jessica

Our weather has cooled down a bit as well! Nowhere near that nice! More like 80s but that’s still unusual for us in August! Friday was really nice with a high of 77!

Nice new reads! And omg! Didn’t know that Cecy’s next Weird Girls book was out! Hmm…since the tour company switched over I know I signed up on the word doc to be included in such things! I loved Cecy’s Weird Girls series and soo can’t wait to read more!! The other reads are new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!

    Here’s my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

Jessica, I will be sending out an email this week for OF FLAME AND FATE ARCs and you’ll be able to let us know if you want the tour company to contact you as well.

  14. Darlene

So glad to hear that you are healing up! We’ve had a couple of single-digit lows, and that sure cools off the pool fast. I’m hoping it won’t cool off too much in August so that we still have a few more weeks to enjoy it. We’re off on a road trip today! Hope you have a great week.

It’s good to hear you are healing up. You are doing great on your Goodreads challenge. I just posted that I’m behind, but not too far that I think I’ll be able to get caught up. Our weather has been Fall like too. Overcast and we had some rain. The 80’s would be perfect for me. I hope you have a great week!

We’ve been having fall-like weather here this week too. I’ve loved being able to comfortably sit outside and read. I agree that summer needs to slow down though. I’m not ready for the cold weather at all, lol. Hope you have a great week!

  17. Jenea

I have yet to be called for jury duty but they never would take me anyway being a deputy, Maybe now I an longer one and stay at home one day I will get to. You sounds like you have had a pretty busy week. And holy cow, 20 book last month is amazing. Enjoy your new additions and your week ahead. 🙂

Glad your stitches are healing nicely. I also want to pump the brakes on summer. I can’t believe I have to go back to work on Friday! It’s here already. Good for you being ahead on your Goodreads goal! My little pull ahead will disappear once school starts. I was selected for jury duty (last year I think) and the judge was great at understanding people’s needs and dismissing you. Since you are their caregiver, I’m sure it would not be a problem for you either.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Kids start back here this week too. I am thinking you are right. I have served before and in five years will be free to do it again. The form only said nursing moms, but I am sure if I explain the situation I would be dismissed. No sense having a stressed out Nonna making decisions.

  19. Whitney

The weather has been like Fall in Wisconsin too. Yesterday, I considered wearing a coat. It is a nice change from 100 degree temps though so I’m not complaining.

Wow! It really does sound like it’s been fall like! It’s been not miserably hot here so I’m willing to take that! I hope Sophia has fun at the children’s museum! We love them and spend hours and hours there though the Tornado is quite a bit older. A few hours sounds perfect. Good luck with jury duty. I’ve only been called once and ended up not having to go though I really wouldn’t have minded. My husband went once and found it interesting though lots of really boring time. Have a great week!

I have done Jury duty and enjoyed being a part of the process. I just worry about the Royals. I am not going to dwell, I call the night before and may not even have to go. For now, their Mommy took that Monday off from work.

  21. Tressa

We had one day of cooler weather when the monsoons came through and I loved it, but when you’ve been having high humidity with over 100 degree weather, anyone would. I hate humidity unless it’s raining as I live in AZ for the dry heat. That is rather weird to have those temps consistently. Anyway, I’m glad you’re doing well with the stitches and got through so many books in July. I am way behind, but I’ll catch up. I’m definitely going to check out Snowspelled. Masks and Shadows was written marvelously well.

  22. Elizabeth

It’s been beautifully fall-like where I live this weekend, too! I’m loving it but it’s such a tease. Hopefully your jury duty experience isn’t too bad if you have to go. I did it a few years ago and actually found it really interesting, lol. Have a good week 🙂

  23. Grace

20 books is great!! I love fall weather so much but I could use summer to hang around for a little linger. Hope you enjoy your new books and have a great week!

Although our weather hasn’t been fall like, it’s certainly been cooler than it had been. I’m not complaining, though it does make me worry about September. Will it be more fall like? Will it be the August we’re not getting now? who knows with mother nature these days.

Glad to hear your stitches are healing up nicely! Sounds like you’ve got some fun planned with Sophia, yeah 3 hours should be plenty 🙂 Hope everything works out in September for someone to watch the Royals!

Have a great week Kimba 🙂

  25. Kristin

I’m so glad your foot is better finally!!! I’m sure vacation didn’t help things 🙁 That was the exact wrong place to hurt yourself. I hope this week is nice and calm for you!!! And thanks for sending the cooler temps our way; I finally opened our windows 🙂 *hugs* xoxoxo

Great job with reading. You inspire me so much. Glad to hear you are healing well. Today was the first bit of relief we have had from the rain and heat. It only got up to 75 degrees today which is perfect. Unfortunately I had to work through it. Hopefully we get a few more days like this. I hope y’all had fun today at the museum. Have a great week!

Good job being ahead on GR reading goal! I still haven’t added some of May-June children’s reading which would put me ahead. But that’s okay as I am on target anyway.
Your weather sounds nice although summer sort of zipped through. Glad your stitches are healing well.
Children’s Museums can be such fun.
Nice arrivals – I like the cover of Snowspelled and Duck and Goose looks like fun.
    Happy Reading!

An all around good week to the good and great July reading numbers. I’m still away on my visit, but I’ve heard that back home we’ve been having fall temps, too (58 at night in August, LOL)

Maybe you won’t be a match for the jury assignment or it won’t be long.

Nice haul of lovelies this week. I can’t wait for the new Weird Girls.

    Have a great week, Kimberly!

  29. Jen Schaper

Wow! You’ve made a lot of reading progress. Well done!
Fall weather hasn’t come to us yet. I’m still sweating my butt off at work. I don’t know if I would want 50s though. That’s a bit too cold for me. If it could stay between 65-80 all year long, I’d love it 🙂

Holy cow girl! I have been barely able to manage like 2 books this month! You are the queen! I bow to your awesomeness. I cannot wait until we have Fall weather here. It probably won’t hit here until the end of October. Even then it’s just less hot summer weather….hehe. I also cannot wait to have grand babies to spend time with. They are so lucky to have you!

Ah yes, summer is going to fast. Glad to hear you are recovering well. The Snowspelled cover looks so magical. Like it 😉 Happy reading.
