Sunday Post

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

So good news first, last weekend was cool and we didn’t die from the heat. We were able to replace a part on the AC unit. However, it will be our next major purchase. You may have noticed I did not come back from my mini-break as planned on Thursday. Peeps, I need a powerful Gris-gris bag or something. On Wednesday we received news that a loved one had passed. Then on Thursday one of our parents had a heart attack. Thankfully they will be ok, but we were all a mess.

Healthy wise I was actually able to sleep in my bed during the later half of the week. I spent the previous ten days sleeping on the sofa in an upright position with a pillow wedged in my neck to keep from coughing. My bronchitis has finally loosened, leaving me with some ear pressure and a damaged vocal cord. I sound suuuuuper sexy. Bwahaha!

Clean Sweep ARC Challenge was a success. Thanks to all who joined in the fun. I met my goal and managed 23 books/audios. For the month of May, I read/listened to 24 books.  June is Audiobook Month and I have lots of surprises and reviews for you. I will be back to commenting and visiting on Monday.  How was your week? What was your favorite read this week? As always stay cool and Caffeinated.

Wow! Sounds like a rough week. Glad your parents are okay, the air condition is dealt with and you can sleep lying down again! You definitely need a bag of Gris Gris or a spell to break the curse or a ritual or something! Have a great week!

Oh no sorry to hear that KImba!!! Sending supportive thoughts your way, and for your parent as well. All the best.

And hope you feel better soon, even if you lose your sexy voice ha ha. Best wishes this week… take care.

I am so sorry about all you have been through! I hope your loved one who had the heart attack is doing okay. And I am sorry for your loss. My aunt suffered a mini stroke this past week, and luckily got to the hospital in time for them to minimize the damage. She seems to be doing okay now, but will undergo more testing Monday. It gave us all a scare.

I am glad to hear you are feeling a bit better and are able to sleep in your own bed now.

I hope you have a better week, Kim. My thoughts are with you and your family.

My goodness, Kimberly! It’s been quite a ride for you and your family lately. We’ve just been crazy busy. I’m doing some serious overhauling in my house and it’s a wreck and is taking all my time and making me too tired to read, which is so sad, but it also needs to be done and I’m motivated to do it (much to the children’s dismay since they don’t want to be roped in to helping). I hope this week goes well!

  5. Jackie

I listened as well as read Cassandra Clare’s new Dark Artifices book #2 Lord of Shadows, It was excellent. I wish we had air conditioning. The weather has been pretty nice and hot. I hope for your parent’s recovery and am sad for your loss. Keep smiling

  6. Ardis

I’m so sorry about the health problems you and your family member had. I hope you can feel better soon. Thank you for creating the Clean Sweep ARC Challenge. It really helped me to stay on task. You are a wonderful blogger, and I enjoy your posts so much.

  7. Lexxie

I hope things will slow down for you guys, and that everyone will be healthy now <3 Your week sounds a bit hellish, thank goodness for books to help us keep our chin up, yeah?
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading 🙂

Man, you are not having good luck. I am glad the parent is okay that your bronchitis is letting up. Can’t wait to see what you have planned for audio month. I want to do something but will have to wait till I get back on the 14th, so maybe the last half of the month can be full of great audio goodness. 🙂

  11. Savanah

This is my first time doing this linkup! So excited, and thanks for putting this together 😀

That’s good new it wasn’t as warm last weekend so the heat wasn’t too bad. I am sorry about the loss in your family and that heart attack of one of your parents must’ve been scary, but I am glad to hear they’re doing well. Have a great week!

What fun! Sorry to hear about your coughing though. Not fun at all. Glad you’re getting better!

  15. Lark

Kimberly, I’m so sorry you and your family have been having such a rough time. I will keep you in my prayers, and your parent as well. I’m glad that your bronchitis is easing, at least.

You have several book reviews I’m looking forward to reading soon! I want to finish reading the Julia Quinn book and write my review before I read anyone else’s, though. I’m loving it, despite not being quite sold on the heroine’s motivation for one particular action.

    Stay cool and caffeinated!

I’m sorry for our loss and for all you and your family are going through right now.

You always amaze me at how much you are able to read in a month despite it all. Congrats on meeting your Clean Sweep goals. Hope you have a great week!

So sorry to hear about the sadness in your family. Thankfully, the good news is that your family member will recover. I clicked on “the monster” book, and am looking forward to “Nonna’s” next review.

I’m so sorry to hear about all the difficult news happening to you and your family this week, Kim. Sending you lots of love! I’m not sure if you know about this but there’s this Chinese balm that’s called Tiger Balm, that can be very soothing when you have coughs and want a peaceful night of sleep. I think you can find it on Amazon. It has a very medicinal smell, but it cools your throat area or even head for migraines, and is very effective.
I got the new Kate Meader too and I can’t wait to read it!
Have a better week ahead, Kim.

  19. Suzanne

Yikes, what a stressful week. I’m so glad to hear your parent is going to be okay though. I’m glad to hear that you’re starting to feel better though and hope that you’ll have a nice, quiet week ahead after everything that happened this week.

Hope you feel better soon. I was going to comment on your books, but I think I’ll just say you have a good haul and you need a ton more sleep to keep up the frantic pace of your online work and reading– best wishes!

So sorry to hear about all the bad news, Kimberly. I’m thinking of your family and sending healing thoughts and vibes. Your family has had blow after blow…stay strong!!

Congrats on a great May Clean Sweep! It was good for me, and I focused on older ARCs that went by the wayside when I had to take a blogging hiatus. It felt good to get them off my plate 🙂

  30. Jo-Ann

Oh dear. I’m glad your parent will be okay, in spite of the crises and I am so sorry for the death of your loved on. Take care.

I’m a little late posting my Sunday Post, but here it is nonetheless! inspiration pie

  31. Kristin

How much more sexy can you sound?!?! You sounded sexy before you lost your voice!!!! Jeez, your poor husband (wink, wink). On a serious note… still prayin’ hard for your Mama in law. (HUG!!)

  32. Laura Fabiani

Sounds like you’ve had a rough week! I didn’t get much accomplished for the CleanSweep. Too many things going on in May and I just returned from BookExpo. Thanks for the reminder that June is audiobook month. I have a few audiobooks I want to listen to and June is the perfect month to do so!

  33. RO

My goodness Kim, I’m so sorry to hear about everything you’ve been going through, and continue to keep you and the family in prayer. I’m thrilled that your bronchitis is starting to break up a little, but know you had to be uncomfortable. I woke up with a horrible cold, but I know it’s nothing compared to bronchitis. With all that was going on, it’s amazing that you were able to finish any books at all, so kudos. Sending Huge Hugs of healing and support for you and your family. RO

  34. Runwright Reads

[total failure for me 🙁 ] and that the AC is up and running and you are feeling better! You should post a recording of that super sexy voice 🙂
