Is March over? This was another crazy week from temperatures to sick babies. On Wednesday, Princess Sophia gave us quite a scare when a nasty viral infection had her spending the day in the ER. I ended up keeping the little Prince so her parents could focus on her. There were concerns of meningitis to an abscess in the back of her throat. While we hated seeing her so ill, it was a relief to know it was viral and nothing serious. It has been a rough few day for her, but every day we see improvement. I did manage to finish a few books. Friday evening it poured and curled up in my favorite chair with a cup of hot cocoa and devoured an entire book.  It felt good. I am enjoying my headphones and really appreciate the long battery life and ability to vacuum and listen. I hope you discover your next favorite book this week. Stay caffeinated and think spring!

Oh goodness! That is scary!! We’ve had some scares when our kids were younger and it’s something I don’t wish on anyone or want to experience again. I’m glad she’s okay and you were there to help.

I’m going to have to look into adding some of those headphones to my wish list. My cord does get in the way quite often when I’m doing things about the house.

I hope this week is much better! Happy reading! 🙂

  2. Literary Feline

I am glad Princess Sophia is doing better. What a terrible scare that must have been! I need to jump back into my Ilona Andrews books. It’s been too long. I couldn’t resist Radium Girls too. 🙂

I hope you have a great week! We have one more week to go before spring break. At least my daughter has spring break. My mom will be in town to keep her company. I sure wish I could have a week off too. Take care, Kim!

It was scary. She is still complaining of a sore neck and moves her body instead of head. I hope you get some down time soon!

  3. Roberta

Sounds like quite a scare. Good thing you were available to help.

You found some interesting articles Around the Blogosphere this week. I like the idea of looking up past commenters, or on one of my oldest blogs, those on the blogroll.

    Hope next week is better.

Glad she is doing better, that is scary stuff. And that it’s not anything more serious. It poured here all day too- still is, in fact. 🙂

Sorry about the link snafu BTW- I ended up linking twice, having issues this week. 🙁

I’m glad to hear your granddaughter is feeling better. There are some nasty viral bugs going around I keep waiting for the kids to bring them. That’s awesome you are so close to your kids that you can help out when they need it. I wish we lived closer to my family or my husbands family. Sounds like even though it was a rough week you did find some time for reading which is a win in my book. I hope you have a better week and enjoy all your new books. Thanks so much for hosting and happy reading.

I am really grateful I can help and be so involved. I watch the kiddos part time while their Mommy works, and we take them overnight often.

I’m glad Sophia is doing better, and I hope she makes a full recovery quickly! My niece has been sick this past week as well and for a bit, we thought she might have RSV), but she’s getting better slowly but surely. I don’t think this off and on weather is helping much.

I hope you have a calmer less stressful week this week!

It’s horrible when little ones are sick. You wish you could be sick in their place. I am happy she is getting better. You are making me want wireless headphones more and more. Have a wonderful week. 🙂

So scary for you guys and Princess Sophia! I’m glad she’s well on the mend. Not even close to being scary, we’ve been dealing with pink eye for Boone. He wakes up in the morning with his eyes glued shut with goobies. Normally he hates having his face washed, but for this he sits still. I don’t blame him. It’s awful. I hope you have a much better and milder week, Kim!

Yuck, with how much Sophia’s nose is now running I would not be surprised to see her end up with that as well. Hope Boone feels better soon. How goes those reviews? I get nervous just thinking about how many YOU have to write…lol

  9. cindy

What a scare you had! I am so happy that it was only viral. I want to get those headphones. I forget the name of them. What are they called? I hope that you have a great week!

Bose QuietComfort 35. I love them and listened to 2 audiobooks before I needed to recharge them. The sound quality and noise cancelling are superb.

Hi Kim, thanks for the reviews and the Sunday book and princess updates. So sorry your granddaughter is sick. Hoping for a speedy recovery! I will check back on your reviews this week. I must convert to audio books as I’m jealous of your speedy reading and multi tasking. 🙂

Oh no!! Glad to hear Sophia is doing better! That must have been scary! Plus being sick is just no fun and having to go to a hospital is always agonizing! I feel like my blood pressure always goes up when I have my doctor appointments, I just don’t like hospitals! Lol!

Nice new reads! Totally new to me ones but I hope you will love them all!

The weather has been a bit crazy here as well with weird changes, we have some milder weather now that makes it feel like spring. That’s nice you got some reading done this week and even finished a whole book in one day. I hope you have a great week!

I am glad to hear that Sofia is doing better now, Kim, though I can’t imagine how scary it must have all been for you and your family.
Your day reading a book sounds like it was loads of fun. I’m hoping to make today like that for me.
I hope you have a stress-free week, Kim, and happy reading!

It is always scary when you have to take a little one to the ER!! Glad it wasn’t too serious.
I haven’t been reading as much as I normally do this week. I just can’t find anything that strikes my interest!

oh no 🙁 I am so sorry, nothing worse than the feeling of having your child/grandchild in the ER. I hope Princess Sophia feels better if she isn’t yet. I’m sick of this month myself, can we just move on now?

What a relief about Sophia! I’m glad she’s on the mend though that must have been a scary few days. Love your way of spending a rainy evening. That sounds perfect! I really loved the Mariah Stewart and hope you do too! I’m a sucker for books about family relationships and this one just clicked for me. Have a great week!

Oh how scary. Thank goodness she will recover. I am happy to say my son never got that sick when he was little.

  19. Amy

March has been such a long month. It seems to have been two months in one.

I hope the Princess gets better very soon. I’ve been ill too, a nasty bug but thankfully I didn’t need to go to hospital (it was a close thing though because I also had a migraine and I was in agony).

    Have a great week! 🙂

How terrifying! I would have lost it at the mention of meningitis I think. I am very thankful to here that it was viral and will pass. I hope she is on the mend now.

We have had a lot of rain which is not abnormal in Portland, but it has been unusually heavy. We even had some lightening the other night which was a treat! I hope this coming week is less eventful <3

  21. Charlie

Glad you’re enjoying those headphones! So sorry to hear about Sophia. That is scary. I hope she is on the up and up now.

  22. Nise'

oh dear, sorry poor Sophia was sick and had to endure scary tests and all those people trying to figure out what was wrong. Glad she is improving.

  23. Jackie

Hello, I just wanted to pop over to say ‘Hi.’ With the arrival of spring, the weather is pretty decent in my neck of the woods. Calgary :). Here’s wishing you all the best.

  24. Lauren

Hi Kimba, yeah, this March weather is for the birds. I need warmth. As a mom of three littles under seven, I’m so thankful for my mother and father-in-law. They are always there to help out when we need them. We don’t ask them for help often, though. When our middle was a baby, she got a bad flu bug, But since she was under 3 months old, it was a big deal. I remember them stepping in and taking care of the bigger little so we could focus on the other and get her to and from all the appointments we had to take her too. Have a good week, Kimba!

I am so glad to be able to help them. I watch the kids part time so my daughter can work. We also have them overnight often and like being able to bond with them. Glad you have such a strong support network, we did not so I am always ready to help.

  25. Jen

Sorry you had to go through that with your little one. I know how scary it is. When my oldest son was two months old (he’s 18 now), I took him to visit my parents. While we were there, he started running a high fever. The doctor made him have a spinal tap. I was terrified. They ended up saying he probably caught a virus on the plane, but it was a nightmare I don’t wish on anyone. Since then, we’ve had some other scares with him and the other two kids.
I hope this week is much better for you and your family!

  26. Lorna

How scared you all must have been! So glad she is okay!Looking forward to what you think of The Last Chance Matinee. I used to read every book the author wrote but it’s been awhile. I was just reading about it and I thought it sounded good. Hope you have a good Spring like week!

  27. Angela

Hope the Little Princess is doing ok. Only a few more days to go in March, then it’s over. This week has been odd too for me. We had some nice warm sunny days then the rain returned. It was back and forth all week like it couldn’t decide what to do. I did get some planting done and have added some color into the back yard. Hope you enjoy your book haul.

Have a great week and happy reading!

  28. MarthaE

I am glad Sophia is getting better. We’ve had similar scare. There is a very nasty viral bug going around the schools.
Looks like you had good reading/listening.
Julia Quinn is a fav of mine – I have a collection I need to get back to reading. 🙂
I haven’t read Mariah Stewart in a while – this one looks different.
I like the look and sound of The Night Mark. Happy Reading!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Oh wow, poor kids. She is doing better. Stewart’s book is the one I devoured Friday night and my first by her. I listened to The Night Mark this weekend. It was good!

  29. Maureen Beatrice

I’m so glad to hear the Princess is doing better Kimberly. What a scare it must have been.
Awesome that you still were able to get some reading done. ‘The Viscount Who Loved Me’ is definitely one I want to read too. 😀
Have a great week and happy reading!

Oh no! 🙁 Sorry Princess Sophia gave you that scare! I can only imagine how anxious you all were 🙁 Thank god it was nothing serous. I bet little Prince loved to be spoiled by grandma though 🙂 ahhhh hot cocoa and book devouring sounds like the perfect way to get over that scare 🙂 Have a great week 🙂

I always feel bad for little ones when they are sick because we feel helpless, and wish we could switch places. Glad all worked out and that you got some time to relax with a good book. There’s nothing better than doing that on a rainy day, unless we add a cheeseburger, of course. (lol) Hugs…

  32. Bookworm Brandee

Oh gosh! So scary! I hope Sophia has continued to get better and better, Kimberly. I bet your daughter and son-in-law are grateful to have you so close to help out.
This month has been crazy weather-wise, hasn’t it? I have snow now! I’m not complaining, of course, since we’ve been in stage 2 fire restrictions (complete fire bans) since February and we’ve had several grass fires near us, but…
I hope you’re having a great week! I’m slowly catching up from having one daughter home from college, then hubs home, and now my high schoolers…they mess with my schedule! LOL
