Sunday Post

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

On Monday, my daughter was in a very serious auto accident. Thankfully she walked away with only minor bumps and bruises. Thank goodness the Royals were with me. I was so proud of my son-in-law. My daughter was a mess, and he swooped in and handled it all. Moments like this remind us just how precious life is and to spend quality time with those we love. I have been so busy!  If it weren’t for audiobooks I wouldn’t be reading at all. Could someone stop getting Mother Nature high? One day my A/C kicks on, the next day it is 18 degrees. I do not know how to dress!  I hope everyone is doing well with the Take Control challenge. Our Twitter party is Wednesday and next weekend is the 24-hour readathon. All are welcome to join. Hope you find time to read this week. Stay Caffeinated!

So sorry to hear about your daughter’s car accident. How scary for all of you! So glad she’s okay and that the royals were with you. So not ready for daylight savings! I need the sleep! Have a great week!

Oh no sorry to hear about the accident but glad she was not seriously hurt. How terrifying. And kudos to the son-in-law. 🙂 Hope she’s not feeling too rough. And you’re right, it reminds us that family is the most important thing.

I hear you on the weather, it’s been cold here all week. Hope you have a good week Kimba!

It has been fa-fa freezing all weekend here Greg. She is doing better. We watched the Royals for a few hours tonight, so they could just go out and unwind.

  3. Tressa

Isn’t that such a wake-up call?!! Very scary. I’m so glad everyone is okay. I haven’t gotten as much reading in as well, but part of that is making sure I’m ahead enough for our vacation this week. I plan on getting some good reading while we’re gone. I hope you have a much better week!

    • kimbacaffeinate

I hope you get to read. When we went to the beach for 2 weeks, I thought I would devour books on the beach and ended up reading a total of 3 books! LOL. It was lovely having a break though.

  4. Natflix&Books

Happy to hear that your daughter is ok! Car accidents can be so scary. I love a good audiobook. I go through phases where they are the only way I read. Hope you have a fabulous week!

Right now I am listening to at least 2 a week and loving it. It has gotten to the point where I look to see if a book will be released on audio before accepting an ARC..LOL

  5. Jackie

Oh dear, I’m sorry to hear about your daughter. It sounds like you are handling things pretty well in spite of the accident and the weather 🙂 I have just finished my 3rd book in the TakeControlTBR challenge.

Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry to hear about your daughter! I’m glad she wasn’t seriously hurt! I hope both you and her have a better week this week!

So glad your daughter is ok. Car accidents are some of the scariest things. You are right though, it reminds you that life is precious and we should spend time with people with love.

I’m sorry about your daughter’s accident – that must have been utterly terrifying for you. I’m so glad that she’s ok. These things really do bring it home how precious life is and how important it is for us to spend time with loved ones. I hope you’re ok after the shock of it all.
On a lighter note… I loved the takeout coffee cups image, the daylight savings one sounds about right for this time of the year! I couldn’t function without coffee!
I hope the week ahead is a much better week for you.

Yes, I have a feeling we will all need extra coffee this week. I did ok, once I knew she was alright. She, on the other hand, had a super stressful week, aches, pains and kept replaying the accident in her head.

  9. A Voracious Reader

Holy crap! Thank goodness she’s ok! Life can change in a heartbeat. We tend to forget that in the hustle and bustle of the daily grind. {{{posivibes}}} that this week will be better and that Mother Nature will detox. Or something. Because, dammit.

What a scare! I hope this week is calmer for you and yours. I picked up an audiobook at the Library this week (Lincoln in the Bardo). I don’t usually listen to audiobooks – I get too distracted – but when I read this has 166 narrators I just had to check it out. Happy reading!

Oh man that is so scary with your daughter. I am glad she is ok. Yeah the weather is just so weird. I never dress the kids in the right clothes!! Have a great week!

I’m so sorry to hear of your daughter’s accident – thank goodness she is okay and the children were not involved. I was in the car when we had an accident as a 6 yr old and though no one was hurt, I had nightmares for years after… If she is still bruised and stiff, she should get some arnica tablets and keep taking them until the bruising fades – I swear by them as they really make a difference to the level of discomfort you feel and speed up your recovery rate. I hope she feels better very soon.
I’m guessing the temperature at which your air conditioning kicks in is high? We have been struggling with temperatures down as low the 40s and then on Thursday it was nudging 60, but the flowers and blossoms keep coming – my favourite is the blackthorn – the white clouds of flower in amongst those bare black branches always seem like a gift. Have a BETTER week, Kimber!

Yes, two days in a row the afternoons with the sun shining our inside temps hit 78, and the air kicked on. Our poor heating/cooking system is confused.

  13. Lark

I’m so sorry to hear about your daughter’s accident. Thank goodness she will be all right — and that, as you say, the Royals weren’t with her.

The weather has been nuts the last month or two. I think Mother Nature is going through menopause. Hot flashes, mood swings… sounds about right. They were predicting 3-5 inches of snow for us on Tuesday, but they’ve upped the temps to 40 and dropped the snowcast to less than an inch, so maybe our flowers will survive. Well, the ones that have survived the recent nighttime frosts, anyway.

Have a great week and enjoy those new books! The Deborah Blake ones look interesting, and I’m looking forward to reading the Heather Graham book.

I was holding out for audio on Blake, but it doesn’t look promising, so I decided to dive in. LOL, I was going to take a little break from Graham and try other authors. But kept seeing reviews and kicking myself. When the chance to review on audio came up…I dove in. So far Flawless is really good, and I will listening to this one later in the month.

  14. Angela Adams

So glad you’re daughter is okay! Love some of the titles on your list this week — “The Hot One,” “Wicked Deeds on a Winter’s Night…” Looking forward to reading your reviews.

I’m so glad your daughter is okay! What a scary thing to go through.

This weather is crazy. Normally when I pack up my warm weather clothing, it stays in the suitcase till winter is over but I had to pull out my short sleeves last month. I do hope we don’t have any heavy snow or ice.

Hope you have a great week and good luck with the readathon!

OMG! Glad to hear your daughter was okay! And that the Royals were with you! Hopefully she’ll have a nice, smooth, and as speedy as safely possible recovery! And I swear, we must be neighboring states or something because we’re having the same crazy weather in St. Louis! Nice and cool one day, warmer the next, and then BAM! SNOW!

Totally new to me reads here! Hope you enjoy them all!

Sorry to hear about your daughter’s accident, but that’s good news she walked away with only some minor injuries. It does sound quite scary to be in an accident like that.

The weather has been crazy like that here too, although now it seems to stick to being slightly warm spring weather and sometimes cold during the nights. I hope you’ll have a great week!

The weather here has been nuts as well. 70 and sunny then snowing. Its crazy! Its even weirder because its like we skipped winter all together here, but now that March is here, mother nature wants to try to squeeze it in or something!

Oh I’m so glad your daughter is okay. It’s so scary when you think about accidents. And I agree with you on Mother Nature. I think Jack Frost and Suzy Snowflake have been distracting her so they can get their time out to play. lol. It’s crazy! I would be happy with just one way or the other, not all four seasons in one week.

    Take care!

  23. Christine

So glad to hear your daughter is ok! Accidents can be absolutely terrifying – I didn’t even want to get into a car after the time I got t-boned when I was 19. Hopefully she’s feeling safe and taken care of now.

Daylight savings time always throws me off somehow. It’s definitely going to be a 4-cup of coffee day over here! We’re supposed to get a foot of snow tomorrow night too, so I’m really not looking forward to that.

Hope you have a great week!

I honestly hate when the weather changes that drastically overnight. It doesn’t get THAT cold down here but the cold one day, hot the next takes it’s toll. Luckily, its starting to even out here. Chilly in the mornings, but basically gorgeous.
I think I forgot to sign upf or the readathon! I’ll have to go do that asap!

I’m so sorry to hear about your daughter’s accident, but thrilled to hear she is okay. That’s the important thing.

Mother Nature is sure playing tricks with us. After a few days of temps near 60, we are now under a blizzard watch and expecting as much as 24 inches of snow. It’s crazy.

    Have a great week!

Oops! I forgot about the time change. I don’t really see the use for it anymore. Oh well. It’s so great that your daughter got through the crash without serious injuries and that the children weren’t with her in the vehicle. I hear ya about the weather. But I think it’s finally decided to stay spring weather here. Of course, our spring lasts a few days and goes right to hot summer. Already got spring break starting here.

  29. Danielle

Hi Kim! I cannot even imagine what you have went through this past week 🙁 I am very relieved to hear that your son-in-law was great about everything and your daughter will recover. Still a terrifying reminder though and I am sorry you have had so much happening. Sending many hugs and praying this week is much better <3

So sorry to hear about your daughter’s accident! Thank goodness that she is alright and that it wasn’t worse!

I liked your Totally Random photo. I hate Daylight Savings Time!! A Perfect Obsession sounds good! I haven’t done too well with March TBR because I can’t seem to stay awake at bedtime! It’s probably because I’ve been sacrificing sleep in order to work out, since I can’t seem to fit it into my busy schedule. The only time that I have is first thing in the morning, so I’ve been waking up at 5:00 a.m. for six days a week for the past five weeks, and I think now it’s catching up with me! On the up side, I love getting it over with first thing in the morning and not having to worry about how/when I can squeeze in the exercise. The bedtime reading is not working for me, so I guess I’ll have to be content with listening to audiobooks!

So glad to hear your daughter is alright! And that the kids weren’t in it. My mother was in a very bad accident when I was little; she survived only by being skinny enough to climb through a partially opened window. Apparently there is a lawmaker here in TX trying to get DST ousted. I don’t understand why we keep the antiquated system when it’s not needed any longer.

  33. Karen Blue

Oh wow! What a week for you!I am so sorry to hear she was an accident, glad she is okay. I can’t imagine what that was like for you. It really puts things in perspective. I hope this week is calm, calm for you. Take care!

I’m looking forward to reading the Deborah Blake books. I have had Veiled Magic on Netgalley for a while, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet.

Thank goodness your daughter is okay! Must have been scary to learn of her accident. Enjoy your new books and time with your family.

She called me after her husband and was so upset I could barely understand her. I actually had to yell to get her to keep it together. Thankfully her husband raced to the scene.

  36. Sophia Rose

Yeah, thank goodness she came out relatively okay and that is so special that she picked a great guy who was right there for her.

Yep, Mother Nature is on a bender it seems. Big wind storm blew through this area and knocked out power. All is good now, though.

I got Veiled Menace too. 🙂

Doing alright with the Take Control challenge and looking forward to the readathon. Good thing it wasn’t this weekend because Daylight Savings has me wiped out.

    Have a good week, Kimberly!

I’m so sorry to hear about your daughter! I hope she’s ok. Accidents will also weigh heavily on your mind for awhile afterwards. The weather is absolutely nuts, and I pretty much have a sweater with me constantly. I think my husband prefers the house to have ice crystals, so I’m pretty much cold all the time anyway. Are you in the path of this big storm coming this week? I sure hope not, does not sound good. I hope this week is better for you!

Veiled Magic looks interesting, I’ll have to add this one to my list. I’ve just finished reading Silence Fallen and love it.
