Sunday Post

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

Unplugging was exactly what I needed, and I started this week feeling more in control of my emotions. We had an ice storm that kept most of my peeps home Monday. One had a delayed opening and was then sent home early. Poor thing had a hellacious time traveling to and fro. I work from home and don’t get snow days, but I didn’t have to babysit in the afternoon which allowed for some extra reading time. I am preparing for a visit from my mother. She lives in Florida and has been cleared to travel. This will be her first trip out her since 2009. I am nervous that she decided to come in February as our temps are downright frigid. The Prince turned two months this week and is cooing and smiling.  Our little Princess will be two this week she wants cake, hats, and balloons. We will be celebrating next Sunday. I hope the week brings you a spectacular five star read/listen. Stay Caffeinated!

Aww happy birthday and happy 2 months to the littl ones! And hope your mom’s visit is great and the temps moderate some. It warmed up here a bit but I know it’s not going to last!

I love that pic! Die snowman lol!!

LOL, yeah after the holidays I am over winter! Hopefully, travel is easy and the weather cooperates. So far, the weather looks mild for her visit in February, but we all know how quickly that can change 🙂

  2. Katherine

I’m glad the unplugging left you refreshed! It’s definitely something I need to do more of. The snow days sound like madness but yay for extra reading time! Have a great visit with your mother and have a fantastic week!

Safe travels for your mom and Happy Birthday to Princess Sophia! Time flies! Cutie Kyleigh will be 3 in a month. April and Josh already have her party at the local mall bouncy house arranged. I can’t believe she’ll be 3! And Boone will be a year old in March! GAH! I’ll try to send some of our warmer temps your way. I hope you have a fantastic week, Kim!

She is arriving on the 2nd, so fingers crossed the weather is good. Thankfully she has a direct flight. Too funny, my daughter and her husband rented an indoor bouncy house for the clubhouse at their apartments. They just grow up too darn fast. Of course, we are spoiling her for her birthday 🙂 You have an awesome week too Carol!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Our weather was downright balmy today at 49. People were dressed in shorts! I work from home, so my laptop and I are tied, so sometimes unplugging is exactly what I need. While working from home is great and has perks like being in your pajamas and fuzzy slippers, it can also mean logging on way too much.

  4. Lexxie

I love snow and winter, but really hate it when there is ice hidden under the snow, or just covering the roads. It’s so dangerous, and people get hurt… I read about a man drowning because he slid on the ice and fell in the lake here in Geneva last week, and he was only found quickly because his dog was so upset 🙁
Happy 2 months to Prince Clayton! That’s a cute age… a baby’s smile is just so mesmerising.
I bet you’re happy to know your mom is coming – even if it seems strange that she’d choose one of the coldest months to leave sunny Florida. I hope it will all work out fine and you’ll have some nice, quiet, warm inside days together 🙂
Have a great week ahead and happy reading.

    • kimbacaffeinate

He is smiling and so alert Lexxie I love it. I honestly cannot believe Sophia will be two this week, She is growing so fast and we enjoy every minute with her.
Yes, ice is nasty and dangerous.

  5. Tressa

Those little ones grow so fast!! Two of my kids were sick this week and the youngest stayed home from Kindergarten on Friday with an ear infection. She didn’t feel so well, but I totally enjoyed spending the day with her. I hope your week goes well!!

  6. Samantha

I don’t live in an are where we get lots of snow but I always feel bad when I see all these cars stranded on roads where the snow and ice are preventing them from going home. Then what happens Friday night we get enough rain where many of my favorite locations are unreachable due to high waters. You have one extreme I have the other. Enjoy the birthday with cake. Those books you got in look really good to.

Unplugging can be wonderful – I should do it more. I was thinking that if I was your mom I would wait till the weather warmed up but then coming from Florida a bit of colder weather might be a nice change? Have a good week.

I think she s going to freeze, but she has not met the grandbabies yet, so I understand her wanting to come sooner rather than later 🙂

  8. Michelle Gilmore

Unplugging is always nice! I hope the weather warms up a bit for your mother’s visit! I personally don’t like the leave the house when it’s less than 70 outside, lol. I hope you have a good week!

Monday’s Ice Storm reminds me of a long winter in the World of Ice and Fire, and I’m glad you got some more reading in:)

    • kimbacaffeinate

Right. I laughed at her request. We think she got the idea from Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. Of course her mother is making sure there are hats, balloons and cake 🙂

  10. Dragonfly

Glad to hear you got to relax Kim! People GO to FL in February!!! How funny your mom wants to come to a cold weather area I’m sure she can’t wait to see you
Two months and two years, how cool. Keeping you busy I’m sure! Toddlers are the funniest peeps on earth. Princess will make everyone smile at her party

  11. Olivia

Sounds like it’s very cold over there. Hope it won’t be a disruptive for much longer and that your mother can travel without being hit by the really cold temperatures that February has to offer!

Sounds like you had some pretty extreme winter weather. I like snow, but it’s a pain when you have to travel in it. I hope you’ll have a fun visit with your mom! Oh I see you reviewed an Armstrong and Shalvis book this week, will have to check out your reviews for those. Have a great week!

I’m glad unplugging helped, Kimba. It’s good to do that sometimes. We had ice here, too, and lots of activities were cancelled and a number of businesses were closed. Happy Birthday to Princess Sophia. I hope you all have fun celebrating.

    Have a wonderful week!

I can’t lie, I love Winter but so far we just haven’t really gotten to much of it. You all in the middle seem to be getting quite the winter so I can see why you are all over it. I hope you have a great visit with your mom and I hope the little princess has a great birthday! Cake, Hats and Balloons sounds like the perfect party 🙂

Have a great week, Kim! (((hugs)))

She is so cute. She says hats and touches her head, balloons, and cake. Then she pretends to blow out candles.
We have been every cold, but haven’t had more than one snowfall and of course the ice storm. Winter used to be my favorite season, but I cannot handle the cold anymore.

  15. Julie

Ice is the worst! I would take ice over snow any day. I hope your mom gets there safe and your little one has a great bday! My daughter’s birthday is coming up in a couple weeks. She’s going to be 4 already! Time needs to slow down.

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Bwahaha..I think you meant snow over ice. Awe, four is a fun age, but yes time needs to slow. I watch my grandbabies while their mother works, and in no time they will be in school.

  16. Grace

Glad unplugging helped and everyone was ok in the ice. Hope your mom has safe travels. Happy birthday to the princess!! Enjoy your new books and have a great week!

The weather has been pretty cold here but in the UK we complain about the weather every day so I don’t think it’s that cold really 🙂

It’s nice to unplug sometimes. I hope everything goes well with your mum too.

Whenever we have snow and/or ice in Philly, I have a friend in Florida who emails me photos of the sunshine. After so many years, I still don’t know if he’s trying to make me feel better…or rub it in (lol). Enjoy your time with your mom!

Yeah our ice storm was last weekend, and it really wasn’t all that bad as I thought it would be. Of course I was sick so I didn’t get to go out anyway. This weekend things are surprisingly mild. Like too mild. We were 4 degrees shy of breaking a record high for the area since the 80s. We were up to the 70s yesterday. Which honestly isn’t something I like for my winters. I like winter! I prefer colder weather, I hate the heat and while it was nice yesterday, I’d rather have cold weather while we’re in the official season! LOL! Hope that the Princess has a splendid birthday coming up!

Nice new reads too! All totally new to me ones, so I hope you enjoy them all!

It has been warm here in Ohio. Like 60s. I can’t tell the last time we were even below freezing. Lots of rain too. I so dislike rain this time of year. So much mud. Anyway, I hope you have fun with the Princess’s party. Cake, hats and balloons sound perfect. 🙂 I’m excited to see that you started IAD series. It is so much fun and with a favorite narrator of mine. I hope you have a great week.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I am addicted to the series. I am on Dark Deeds at Night’s Edge now. Yes, he is now my favorite narrator. (Sorry Renee)
Our roads are covered in salt and sand. Yuck!

  21. Melissa (My words and pages)

I can’t believe Princess is going to be 2! Wow. Time really does fly by. 🙂

Sorry about the weather. We are having abnormally beautiful weather here, for January. It’s been in high 50’s and low 60’s for several days this week. Made it nice for the college visit, but makes me worry what will happen in February.

Hope you have a lovely and relaxing week this week.

  22. Kathy

It’s good to hear that everyone was safe during the ice storm. That is scary and we rarely have black ice here in Sacramento. I can’t believe how fast the babies are growing. I hope Princess Sofia has a wonderful birthday. I hope your Mom has a safe trip to your home. Have a great week Kim!

I know. It is fun seeing Sophia’s personality emerge and the strides in language and skills, but it is also sad because before we know it she will be in school.

  23. Maria Behar

Oh, I would LOVE some of that cold weather! I am SO sick and tired of the heat down here! We had just a couple of “cold” days last weekend with temps falling to the 50s at night. I remember, not that long ago, that we had a freeze, with temps in the 30s. All the farmers took precautions with their crops. It’s SO BORING, having HOT weather all the time! So I stay indoors with the AC Lol.

So your mom lives in Florida? She must be like my mom, who HATES the cold! Lol. I guess your mom can’t wait to see you, so that’s why she’s braving the cold. That’s what moms do! 🙂

You are so blessed to have two such wonderful grandkids! Enjoy your weekend with them!

Kelley Armstrong and Darynda Jones are two authors whose work I’ve been wanting to read for quite some time. Some of their books are on my TBR, so maybe I’ll join that TBR Challenge!

Thanks for sharing! Hope you have a GREAT week ahead!! <3 🙂

I can understand the concern with your mother flying in during the cold month, but I hope you and she have a fantastic visit!

It sounds like you needed this down time. I hope you truly are recharged <3 We also had an ice storm this week (the irony). The kids and I were in the house too long haha. Happy Birthday the the little princess.

It has definitely been a crazy winter, for I think, almost all of us. I am so ready for sunshine and warmer air. We are expecting another storm this week and the thought of even more snow and ice seriously makes me want to weep. Oh well, only two more months right?
Happy almost day to the little Princess! Such an exciting time for your family.

I almost forgot it was Sunday! I am trying to stay unplugged, too!! I’m dealing with a migraine and “the blues” and boy am I absent minded b/c of both 😛 I didn’t see that McGuire book so I’m going to check it out.

I hope your mom has a safe trip and stays for a while to make the journey worth it!! And Happy early Birthday to Sophia – I love balloons, too 🙂 The more the better I say!!

Boo for the cold weather! Hopefully it’s not too bad when your mom is in town. Happy birthday to Princess Sophia! Wow, two already! How time flies 🙂 I’m glad unplugging helped you out. Have a great week Kimba 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

Time really does fly. My word for the year is “moments” I am trying to live and enjoy them instead of worrying about tomorrow or the So I am loving time with my grandbabies!

  28. Laura

Enjoy your mom’s visit. I’d love to be in Florida this time of year, that’s for sure. I’ve got both kids home sick with fever and throat infections. Not fun!

  29. Dani Chapman

Sounds like you has nice week. We got lots of rain and temp into the 70s. I would like to experience a real winter for once but I doubt that will ever happen here in Texas. 🙂 Enjoy your Mom’s visit and have a lovely week!

I hope you have a lovely visit with your mother, and that the weather cooperates. And happy birthday to the Princess! She is so adorable, as is the Prince.

The murdered snowman made me laugh, and thanks for giving us plenty of heads-up about Take Control of your TBR. I will look at my schedule (both blog and work) and think about it. COYER Blackout ends just as Take Control starts, so I might be able to do it. I’m limiting myself on challenges this year, as I try to find a better balance between work and the blog. But I’d like to do this one.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thank Sophia. It was good to take the time to miss my Dad and rest. Bwahaha, yes a Mom visit. It should be fun and perhaps a tad stressful.

  31. Charlie

I would not want to be traveling in that kind of weather, but I would love to have a snow day to stay home, cuddle up, and read!

  32. Deborah

I linked up yesterday but was at my mum’s for the weekend so late commenting and reading posts.

I hope the Princess has a wonderful birthday and I’m sure she’ll be spoilt.

We got her a year of gymnastics once a week, clothes and bag to attend. Then, of course, we had to get a toy. Nope, she isn’t spoiled at all. Glad you got to visit your Mum.

  33. Nise'

We lost a lot of ice with our June day in January! Winter will be back though. Just started 11th Grave. Love the twos! In two days I will find out what my daughter and son-in-law are having and best of all, I get to be there! Glad the break was just what you needed.

  34. Lorna

I can’t believe the baby is already 2 months old! Time flies. And ice. Hate it when ice happens. So scary. I hope your mom gets there okay although not sure I understand her wanting to leave Florida to go north in February. Glad you get to visit with her. We are having a winter of rain, rain, and more rain. One dusting of snow so far. After last years almost 3 foot blizzard, I will take this anytime. Have fun with the party and have a good week!

  35. Bookworm Brandee

I unplugged too, Kim, but because I wanted to spend some quality time with my oldest. Unplugging can make a big difference in things though, can’t it? I’m happy it was positive for you. We haven’t had an ice storm but this winter has been strange…the snow and then the warm…the drive down to my house is a skating rink. Makes for interesting trips down to the garage. 😉 I hope you and yours are safe and warm. And I hope your mom’s upcoming visit will be fabulous! Have a great week, my friend!

Dang Kimba, I can’t believe your grandson is already two months old! I doesn’t seem like it’s been that long. I’m glad your break was exactly what you needed. Safe travels to your mom. Cheers – Ty

Ahh! I’m late to blog hop… Again. Trying to catch up!

Two twos! That’s awesome. And not always terrible 😉 My own darling daughter is coming out of the twos next month however I’ve heard that three can be a challenge all on its own… Threenagers I believe they’re called. Something to look forward to.

I’m glad you unplugged and revived and are back and at it. Hope you have a good week!
