Sunday Post

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

This was my first week back from my blog break and the first week I watched both grandbabies while their Mommy went to work. It was an adjustment. Add to that Doctor’s appts and some dental surgery and this introvert needs some time alone. My dental surgery did not go well. I had a full-blown panic attack. It was so embarrassing *shivers* Thankfully it’s over, and aside from some tenderness, and swelling I will live to panic another We took down Christmas this weekend and did some clean up. It’s way too cold to venture outside. I also watched Sherlock as my DVR was whispering to me to catch up. Not much else to report. I hope your first week back to normal was a good one. Enjoy the week ahead and stay caffeinated!

Oh, I love that photo Kimberly!

I can relate to your experience at the dentist. I was never TOO bad (or so I thought) but had a bad experience a few years ago that traumatised me quite a bit!

Hope you get some down time over the weekend and I’m going to head over and sign up for the audiobook challenge!

Sorry to hear about you week Kim. Taking care of babies (two!) is NOT an easy task, and surgery on top of it! Hope you get to relac and recover now

Gorgeous prince and princess! I can relate to wanting alone time, though, after a busy stretch with family.

I absolutely hate dental surgery…or even the deep cleaning of the hygienist…I have another appointment for that torture on Tuesday. Dreading it!

I am eager to get Robyn Carr’s newest book, Any Day Now. Enjoy!

The dentist and I do not agree (actually the dentist is fine, it’s the procedures I can do without!) so I sympathize. Sounds like you had a heckuva week. Hope this one is better. 🙂 It’s cold here too- snow everywhere lol. I’m over it.

Aw cute pic of the little ones. 🙂

Lol, I agree, although my fear comes from a childhood experience where the dentist cut my gums and lied by telling my parents I moved.

      • Greg

Ow! Yeah that would do it! Oh my gosh I’m not sure I’d be able to go to the dentist if that happened! I wasn’t fond of my dentist (he was a friend of my dad’s and kind of a cocky bastard) but I didn’t have an experience like that- I can totally understand.

I know what you mean about needing some time on your own! I’m the same way after a busy week like yours! Sounds like you need to be extra nice to yourself after the dental surgery. Love the picture of the two cuties! How is the Princess so big??? She’s supposed to still be a baby! I have both Sherlock and Doctor Who on my DVR and haven’t watched them yet but can’t wait! Have a great week!

Aside from some food shopping, I spent the day yesterday curled up with books and managed to read two. It was just what I needed! The Princess turns 2 this month. I can hardly believe it. I signed her up for a year of gymnastics for her birthday present. She went to her first class on Friday and loved it! Ooo you need to watch both today Katherine!

Ugh I can’t handle the pain that comes with Dentists. I hope you’re feeling better and you get some respite. Happy New Year Kimberley!

  7. Michelle Gilmore

Don’t be embarrassed! I’ve had panic attacks the dentist as well, I know dentists are just doing their job, but I sort of hate them.

I hope you have a great week! And that the royals settle in to the new schedule

LOL, this time my throat felt like it was closing up or I was drowning, and each time they had to stop. Finally, I tricked my brain by holding the sucker tube in my mouth while they worked. It is funny because I go heavily medicated but this time it didn’t work.

  8. Maria Behar

Your grandkids are SO cute! And that’s a lovely picture of the two of them! I hope they got plenty of presents for Christmas! : )

“Getting back to normal” is never easy for me at this time of year….. I greatly enjoy the holiday season, even though we don’t have snow. Lol. You might think I’m crazy, but I would LOVE to see snow in person! I’ve only seen it on TV, in movies, and in photos.

Taking down the Christmas tree and decorations makes me feel sad. I always take down the tree after Jan. 6th, since that’s the Feast of the Epiphany. But some years, I’ve left it up for a long, long time.

I’m very interested in reading your review of “The Chemist”. As a Twilight fan, I haven’t been very keen on reading it. But I’m still curious, so I’ll be sure to check out your review.

Thanks for sharing, and Happy (Belated) New Year!! : )

    • Maria Behar

P.S. I haven’t been to a dentist recently, and am not keen on going, either. I’m glad your ordeal is over!! : )

    • kimbacaffeinate

We have lived in places with snow and without. When my kids were younger, and the school closed, I loved it. Now as I get older the less excited, I get about anything dealing with the cold.

It was fun reading an adult novel by her and I enjoyed listening.

  9. sjhigbee

I completely sympathise with your horrible experience at the dentist – I, too, had a dreadful time as a child at the hands of a vile man who should have been hung up by his thumbs at the way he treated the children unfortunate enough to be treated by him.
On a MUCH nicer topic – your grandchildren are beautiful and I also recall just how tiring it was looking after both of them together when they were little. Glad you get a chance to put your feet up and relax as well! Have a good reading week, Kimber:)

Such a couple of cuties! It sounds like you’ve had your hands full one way and the other. I have small panic attacks when I go to the dentist. Don’t know why as I’ve not been mistreated. I think mines from the wait and not knowing what they’ll find. I hope you had some time for yourself while away from the computer and welcome back!

  11. Tressa

Oh my goodness! I’ve started going into a panic at the dentist once when they gave me too much laughing gas and my body went numb where I literally could not move. That was scary, so I can totally relate and I’m so sorry! Adorable pic of the grandkids! I hope this week goes smoother!

I hope you enjoyed your blog vacay, though it sounds like it wasn’t very relaxing. Fun to have the kids over, I’m sure. I don’t mind the dentist, I have issues with the eye doctor. I’m really funny about my eyes and I have to go every year. The meds that I used to be on have a side effect of messing with your retinas, which it did to mine, so I’m glad that I go, but I don’t like it. I hope you have a great week.

    • kimbacaffeinate

That is my biggest fear..having something happen to my eyes. I need my readers for everything now that I turned 50 is was like a flip switched. That is another appointment I need to make. Yikes.

Oh, I hate going to dentist, I can understand the panic attack. Hope you have a great week this week! 🙂 I am so excited to see a new Graveyard Queen book, now I have to be patient and wait for it to come out on audio for review since that is how I have been reading them. 🙂

I hate going to the dentist. Seriously. So glad it’s over for you. Yay to grandbabies! We’re adjusting here, too. We went from having 3 teens nearly out of the house to starting over again. lol Not sure how long everyone will be living here, but should be for the Spring semester for sure and possibly Summer, too since April has some Summer classes. So sorry to hear about your panic attack at the dentist. I get panic attacks sometimes and they are so awful. I have a fear of all doctors and dentist so I’m always a bit anxious when I go. My dentist is patient with me, but I had to see a specialist. He was VERY understanding and even made my appointment one instead of the usual consult then visit.

  26. Berls

I did the dentist thing the week before last – it wasn’t surgery – but still NEVER fun! I’m sorry it didn’t go well for you but don’t stress the panic attack. You’re far from alone. My mom used to be a dental assistant and that was just a normal part of the day. Dentist visits stress people, even more than doctors visits for some reason.

OMG Princess Sophie has gotten so big!! Seeing her next to your little prince made me go Wow! Such a pretty lady she’s growing into.

Enjoy 11th Grave! I read it in October – a PreArc sort of, as the first batch apparently went through major content edits – and the ending was a doozy! I can’t wait to read the real thing later this month.

Have a great week and happy reading!

  27. Nick

Oh no! Sorry to hear about the dental surgery didn’t go that well, Kim, but I’m glad it’s over. Your grandkids are so cute. They look so much alike!
Ahh I can’t wait to see what you think of A Breath of Fire! I hope you enjoy it.
    Happy reading, Kim!

I think they look alike too Nick, Thank you 🙂 I am at 85% and loving Breath of Fire, I am so glad I chose to listen even if I had to wait 🙂

  28. Lillian

Dental surgery is no fun!!! Don’t be embarrassed about the panic attack. I did the same with my wisdom and hyperventilated as they started putting me out. It was so embarrassing at the time!
Awe! Your grand babies are precious 😀 Hope you have a wonderful week ahead and get some alone time. Happy Reading!

The babies look sooo adorable! I love the Prince’s spiky hairdo 🙂 and Sophia has gotten so big already. They resemble each other very much!

I read The Chemist, and Talking As Fast As I Can, both good! I have the first in the Amanda Bouchet series– hope I like it! I’m now off to check out your blogosphere links about genres– oh, how they apply to me! Have a wonderful, quieter, more peaceful week ahead, Kim!

Very sorry to hear about the panic attack during surgery. I know how embarrassing that can be. I had one again during my last MRI. They pulled me out screaming (sheesh..). What a long week you have had. You do deserve some rest. Hopefully you enjoyed Sherkock 🙂 I am all caught up finally. Now if I can convince my daughter to watch the Doctor Who special already! The royal babies are so cute! I am glad you got to have this week with them! I have never had dental surgery and I hope I never do, but your experience sounds horrible. I am so sorry! I am an anxious worrier, and now that I am older I have realized I have had some panic attacks. I hope you are healing well and the pain subsides. I also understand the need to reboot as an introvert. It takes more time than extroverts need. I hope this week is panic-free, restful and relaxing.

  42. Literary Feline

I am sure you are glad to have the dental surgery behind you! I really hate having to go to the dentist even for regular check ups. Having to go for surgery is awful. My mom left today to head home after visiting with us while my daughter was on winter break. I’m so grateful she was able to do that while my husband and I had to work. We’re all feeling a bit sad tonight, missing her. It’s back to school for my daughter tomorrow. I’m not sure how well that will go over. I’m kind of glad I leave for work before she has to be up–I won’t have to deal with the fighting to get up.

Just as you are coming back from your break, I am about to go on one. I am not sure yet if I’ll be gone the rest of January or come back sooner. I hope you have a great week!

Kim, I’m so sorry to hear about your dental surgery. I’m not sure if you know this, but I’m also a periodontist. I have a handful of patients each year that have huge anxiety when it comes to surgery. I just want you to know that it’s common, and we understand. I mean, heck, it’s surgery! It should be a least a little scary. I’m glad it’s over and just a memory now.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yes, I did know that. Thank you. I do fairly well with my dentist. He handles my cleanings and takes things slow. He even talked to the surgeon, so I avoided the whole consultant appointment. They even allowed for the extra time. I just freaked out once the procedure began, even though I medicate the day before and day of. Thankfully they talked me through it, and listened to me. They were sincerely helpful without making me feel worse.

  48. Lorna

Those babies are just precious. Keep the pictures coming! I’ve had more than my share of nightmares at the dentist so I truly sympathize with you. Hope it’s getting better! Had my first panic attack not long after my cancer diagnosis last year and wow they are scary! I’ve now had two and I am done! Think that will work? Hope you have a much better week!
