Sunday Post

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

All week I have been miserable with a cold and cough. Thankfully it hasn’t progressed, but it hasn’t gotten better either. So, I rested when I wasn’t working and devoured audiobooks. It has been freezing here with highs in the low twenties and lows in the single digits. BRRR!! I am hoping to tackle my Christmas shopping this weekend and get out of town presents mailed. So far all I have managed to buy are things for myself. Isn’t that terrible? But, in my defense sales on books and particularly audios have been insane! Plus, when you don’t feel well, there is nothing better than retail therapy while in your pajamas. Am I right? I also snagged the new Nook for 49.00. Compared to the Amazon Fire it rocks since it allows for Google Play and has expandable memory. I prefer my Kindle Oasis for reading, but this is nice and allows me to read books from both my Nook and Kindle books. I hope the week ahead is a good one for you, and as always stay caffeinated!

It’s cold here too, snow and 20’s, but we haven’t had single digits yet! Yikes. Hope you stay warm and well read. 🙂 And score on the Nook! there are a lot of good deals right now. I bought myself a book too, couldn’t help myself, and I have shopping to do lol.

    Hope you feel better!

I have my eye on the new Nook too, although my husband looks at me askance every time I mention it. So I have two Kindles? It’s not like I’m asking for a diamond ring . . . I do hope you feel better soon, Kim. It sounds like you have whatever bug I ended up with that seemed to last forever. I still have a lingering cough, but it’s much better than it was. Feel better and have a great week!

  3. Laurel-Rain Snow

Sending you positive thoughts so you will feel better soon. Sounds like your Nook is a good thing…I had no idea you could read Amazon books on it.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for sharing.

Yikes, that weather sounds miserable! I’m very thankful for my warm weather here. You cracked me up that so far all you’ve bought is things for yourself lol. Don’t worry, I also bought a couple books this week, so I agree about the retail therapy. Feel better!!!

I hate cold weather and I’m really sorry anyone has to suffer through it. It’s only in the 40’s here, but I’m freezing to death. I don’t want to see snow at all.
I really hope you feel better soon!

Feel better, Kim! I hope your cough will be taken care of real quick! It’s gotten colder here, too, but not too cold yet. I wish we’d get some snow…
I actually got all my Christmas shopping done already! That is not very common for me – Christmas shopping done with two weeks to spare is awesome. And yes, I did get some presents from me to me, too 😉
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

Oh Kimba – I’m sorry to hear that you’ve been sick and that it’s sticking around 🙁 That’s the worst when it won’t shift either way! At least if it got worse you’d feel like it was progressing somehow!

Retail in PJs is heavenly – no defence required AT ALL. 😉 There’s still time to shop.

How is everything going with the new Prince? I hope mama is doing well and managing to get some rest with her newborn and that they are looking forward to celebrating the festive season!

    Have a lovely week!

I hope you feel better soon Kimberly, We’re experiencing the cold weather here as well so I hope you’re cozying up with some reads like I am to combat the cold fronts. Hope this week is a good one for you!

It’s so cold here in Croatia too! Apparently it will get even more cold!
I hope you’ll feel better soon.
I decided to jon your meme, this is my first time but I plan to stick around. 😛
P.S. You’re not the only one who still has some Christmas shopping to do. I know Cristmas is around the corner, but it doesn’t feel like that to me.

It’s not as cold here, although it is damn cold for our area and I am really feeling it. I was out early in the week with the worst fastest moving cold I believe I have ever had. I hope yours decide to get lost.
I saw that Nook for 49 buck. It’s a good deal. I love my Voyager for reading more than any of the other devices I have tries, but it is a shame that I can’t get my Nook books on that or even my Fire device. I get what Amazon is trying to do there, but come on Amazon, you already have the market wrapped up.

The weather is becoming a real factor for us here too. Right now it is 13 degrees outside and we are expecting our first big snowstorm of the season later today and into Monday morning. I am exciting about the snow, but only because I don’t have to go to work right now.
I won a nook from my library in August. It is my first nook and it is a Samsung galaxy. I admit to not using it half as much as my kindle because of that text-to-speech option I love so much on my kindle. Oh well. Glad to see you are liking them both.
    Have a great week!

Sorry to hear you’ve had a bad cold this week, I hope you feel better soon! And yes there sure seem to be a lot of sales for books lately, it can be hard to resist grabbing some books. And you still have a few weeks to get the other presents. Have a great week!

Sorry to hear your not feeling well, colds suck. We’ve had some cold days but not that cold yet. Brrr is right. Stay warm and feel better soon.

  16. Lillian

I hope you start feeling better soon! It’s miserable being sick, especially in the cold weather….though it does give a good excuse to snuggle up and read 😀 It’s finally turned off cold here too though my area doesn’t get much snow, ice though we get. I agree with you on the audiobook sales! They have been insane this week which I appreciate it. I didn’t listen a lot until my son started school, now I listen all the time, averaging 2-3 a week. I love it! Hope you have a great week and enjoy your new reads. I’m curious to see what you think of The Chemist. I bought it but haven’t started it yet.

Not the best time of year to not feel well. I hope you feel better soon. The weather has been all over the place by me. It was so nice during the day and then to a major turn. Winter seems to have gotten here early but I am totally ok with it. 🙂

Congrats on your new Nook and nothing wrong with buying some stuff for yourself!!!

Have a great week, Kim! Happy Reading! ox

  18. Christina T

I hope you feel better soon! We just got more snow overnight and they’re calling for more today and tonight. It is so cold!

There are some good sales on books at this time of year. I have some Audible credits to spend too. Not sure what I want to listen to next. Maybe I’ll get A Christmas Carol.

Hope you enjoy your reading and get caught up on holiday shopping.

  19. Jessica

I admit sometimes during my shopping I pick up things for myself too! Ironically it’s with sales too! All those multiple items for a good deal price and I think, I could use one of those! LOL! Though when I do see something that isn’t too overpriced I forward that on to my family who still needs Birthday AND Christmas ideas from me! Whoops! Of course I always tell them you can never go wrong with a B&N OR Amazon gift card!! LOL!

Hope you feel better soon to knock out that holiday shopping! Happy Reading!

I hope you feel better soon. I’ve had a terrible week. I’ve done zero reading for more than a week and my stress levels are off the charts. And I still need to Christmas shop. Eeek! *fingers crossed* and {{{posivibes}}} that you’ll be up and about and getting things done at warp speed soon. 🙂

I don’t blame you ONE BIT for buying things for yourself during this time of the year. How can you NOT with the sales during this time of the year! I wish more of the books I want on my wishlist would go on sale!!! And I’ve poo-poo’d the Nook before but now I’m starting to re-think it if it’s easy to add Google Play!!! Awesome info (oh, and price!)

    Get better soon!! 🙂

  22. Melissa (My words and pages)

Sorry to hear you are sick again. Hopefully it goes away for the holiday with the kids. And you got a steal on the new Nook! Awesome!

Hope you have a great week and get your shopping done. 🙂

  23. Katherine

The best part of Christmas shopping is buying stuff for yourself! The Nook sounds like a great deal and love that it can connect with Google Play. So sorry the cough hasn’t gone away though it is good it hasn’t gotten worse. Hopefully the extra rest will make it go away. Looking forward to the winter listen list! Have a great week.

Sorry you are sick again but with online shopping you can just keep that clicker finger going and get your shopping done. My younger daughter dragged me back out Christmas shopping again this weekend–she’s an habitual retail-therapy gsl! And every time I go along, I reward myself when I see a bargain… Lol.

Thanks for recommending Anne Bishop series– I’m mostly through Vision in Red and love it ☺

  25. Whitney

I’m sorry to hear you’re under the weather and hope you feel better soon. That is so exciting that you’ll be co-hosting the Audiobook Challenge. I just discovered Audiobooks this year and loved it, I’ll have to stop by later and sign up. Also, thank you for featuring the All About Austen Challenge on “Around the Blogosphere”. Have a nice week.

I’m sorry you’re feeling under the weather but I think retail therapy is a perfect way to spend the down time. I hope you feel better really soon. I don’t envy your cold weather at all because I thought it was cold here in the 40s. I’m curious about the Chemist but I’m waiting to hear what you think. I hope you enjoy your books. I wish I was a audiobook listener maybe I should use the challenge to force myself to listen to them. Have a great week! Happy reading!

I’m sorry you haven’t been feeling well. I do agree about retail therapy in pajamas. What could be better than that? I love my Kindle Voyage for reading and I love my Kindle Fires too. Also, I have a Samsung Nook that I’ve had for awhile. Enjoy yours.

Feel better and have a great week!

  28. Dani Chapman

Sorry you have been unwell. I completely agree – retail therapy helps me feel so much better. Especially when I am in my PJs and have a nice hot cup of chocolate next to me!

  29. lisa thomson

Hi Kim, yes to shopping in pajamas! I’m also coming down with the same. Caught it from my Hubs. It’s always at the worst time. I feel drained but at least I have my Kindle to keep me company 😉 I look forward to your review of the title Winter. A simple title.

When you’re right, you’re right.. 😛 Hope you feel better soon! It’s been cold here too with freezing rain, fog and a whole lot of snow (okay not a whole lot but enough to make the roads miserable). I’m dreaming of summer already.

Hey, sniffle and cough buddies! Yeah, my nephew wanted to share his cold, but at least he had a happy birthday. 😉

I hit those sales for personal purchases, too, but lately I’ve been steadily finishing off my gift list purchases. Neat to have found such a deal on a Nook reader.

Oh hey, that’s cool that you are now co-hosting the audio challenge. I’m doing that one after enjoying it this year.

I got the Rebecca Zanetti for review, too.

  32. Charlie

I hope you start feeling better soon! That sounds just miserable. At least you have things to enjoy while under the weather. 🙂 I can’t believe it’s that cold! Brrrr! Not for me!

  33. ShootingStarsMag

I’m sorry you haven’t been feeling well! I hope it gets better – or at least not worse! It’s been flurrying the past few days but nothing too crazy. I wouldn’t mind more snow at some point though! It’s nice to have a few times throughout the winter/holiday season!

First I have to say I love that Maxine cartoon! I am the same way as you, behind on presents. Part of it is because NKOTB concert tickets went on sale right around the time of my last paycheck, and I bought for me and my two friends that I always go with, so I’m still waiting on one of them to pay me back for their $120 ticket. So I won’t get my shopping finished probably until I get my Dec. 15th paycheck. I can’t decide if I want to read The Chemist by Stephenie Meyer. So I’ll wait on it. We’ve had a lot of people around here getting sick, I’ve been lucky so far, knock on wood. Have a great week!

The nook lets you read kindle books too? Why have I just heard of this now? That’s such a great deal!
Yes! I was waiting to hear if the audiobook challenge was back on. I did it two years ago and I want to listen to a bunch of books this year.

Awesome score on the Nook. I think you completed the trifecta: shopping in your pj’s, while staying at home, and finding an awesome deal. Hope you get better quickly.

  37. Bookworm Brandee

Oh Kim, I hope you’re on the mend. It stinks to be “under the weather” anytime but particularly at this time of year. 🙁 And I don’t blame you one bit for the retail therapy. I’ve been doing a lot of that myself and I don’t have illness as an excuse. I’ll just blame it on the sales! I picked up quite a few audiobooks last week – so many, I think I’ll do the audio challenge next year. *ha* Feel better and have a great week!! <3

  38. Juli

I’m sorry you’re not feeling well! Cold weather always makes it worse, doesn’t it?
Congrats on the nifty new Nook (no, no one saw what I did there. ;)) I’m sure it’ll help with the healing. 🙂 The Austen challenge looks like fun. I hadn’t seen that one yet.

Anywho, Bundle up, and get some hot tea in you. My grandma always swore that helped. 🙂 Have a great week!

So late linking up! It’s been crazy… It’s been average for us here and then warm this week, like mid-70s to upper-70s warm, but then we drop 20 degrees Saturday. Such weird weather. I still can’t complain about the 50s when it’s freaking cold where you are. I hope you get over that cold. I’ve been feeling one coming on and am hoping that I’ll be able to dodge it. *crosses fingers*

  40. Lorna

I hope by the time you read this that your are feeling better. Having to shop in that cold with a cold probably wasn’t pleasant to say the least. We are supposed to get the arctic cold later this week in time for my drive from Maryland to Ky. I always end up buying stuff for myself during this time of the year, That’s one of the good parts of this season. Hope you got some good audios to enjoy 🙂 I’ve never had a Nook but have wondered about them. Hope you have a better week!
