Morning! *raises coffee cup* We arrived home late Sunday afternoon and after 19 hours of traveling in a car I was exhausted. We spent Sunday evening shopping, doing laundry and vegging. Isn’t it weird how you need a vacation to recover from you vacation..LOL We had such a good time. The wedding was Cinderella perfect and it was so nice to see extended family. We then headed to the shore for a fabulous week of sun and fun. We swam, walked the boards and ate! Family members made day trips and my husband’s brother, wife and their son stayed with us a few days. Aside from the cramped quarters we had such fun catching up. Our weather was fantastic the entire trip with beautiful sea breezes in the evenings. This was my son-in-law’s first trip to the beach as well as Sophia’s and they built castles, jumped in waves and ate fudgy bars. I did not read like I thought I would. I managed to finish an audio I had previously begun, finish one book and read a novella. I was having too much fun just being and enjoying the moment. In retrospect I am glad because my inbox was crazy and writing those three reviews upon my return was enough. In my Random Image you will find pics of the trip. Stay Caffeinated and enjoy your week!

Sophia is just too cute! I’m glad she enjoyed her first trip to the beach! The first time we took the Tornado he was not impressed and made his displeasure known. Of course now he loves it! I’m glad you took some time off and had a good vacation! Have a great week!

Glad you had a great trip! Nothing better than the beach in the summertime. And pics too- nice! Always good to be at the water and walk the boardwalks. Summer is going so fast… and yes that first day back from vacation is always tough. 🙂

Have a great week. Love that cover of The drowning Game.

Time is flying..and it’s a struggle..on one hand I will be 50 in October..not wanting to rush it..on the other hand Clayton arrives in For now I am just enjoying each moment!

Your vacation looks like it was a success! I always judge the success on how utterly exhausted but happy I am when I return. Sophia has gotten so big!
I hope you have a great week and catch up on some rest!

I am happy you had a wonderful time, but so so so jealous, too! Ha ha. I am going to get to Wildwood, NJ next summer if I have to sacrifice some books to the Sun Gods! Sophia is too precious. Have a stellar week. 🙂

I think 50% of the time you spent away on vacation (if you went on a 10 days vacation, that’s 5 days) is needed to get back in shape and actually be abel to enter the real world again 🙂
I’m glad you had such a great time, Kim.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

Holiday and wedding all sound fab! You can’t beat a refreshing sea breeze after a hot day, it makes even more eager for my holiday to come round! And I always book an extra day off work, just catch up at home when I come back. The clear up and catch up takes time!

I sent you a contact form re HoHoHo, I’ll be happy to sign on for elf duties!

The little one is clearly having a blast. It makes so much difference if they are beach babies. The irony is – we live right on the coast here and it wasn’t until they were out of nappies either of our little ones ever properly enjoyed the beach. And even now, they can take it or leave it! I hope you have had sufficient recovery time – those kinds of holidays are always exhausting – but what a lot of warming memories you’ve now garnered:) Have a great week catching up on your reading.

Until we relocated to the Midwest, we always lived close to the beach. Thankfully all of my were beach babies. I had a niece who screamed every time her feet touched the sand…

A vacation from a vacation is always needed!! Looks like everyone had a great time though. Wildwood is a lot of fun!Enjoy your new books and have a great week!

Yep, growing up in Jersey we always spent two weeks at the shore, and until we moved away we went the same weeks every summer. It was good to go back and we plan to do it again soon 🙂

  9. Kristin

Jersey looks like so much fun!! So much to do, or not do for that matter. I would love to walk the boardwalk at night – it looked so pretty and relaxing 🙂 How cool that it was Sophia AND her dad’s first time at the beach?!?!?!?!

BTW – so awesome that Suzanne sent you a signed a copy of Belle Chasse 🙂 What a sweet surprise!!!

    Have a fantastic week, friend!!!

I’m glad you had a great vacation. Some time at the beach sounds amazing, but, yes, it vacation (especially when you’re driving long distances) is always exhausting. Hope you get some time to relax this week. Happy reading!

Wonderful pictures, Kimba! So glad you all had so much time and fun together. And I know what you mean about needing a vacation from the vacation!

I’m looking forward to the Ho-Ho-Ho Readathon. That’s always lots of fun and a great way to get ready for the holiday season! Have a great week!

I am so glad you had a great vacation! Wildwood is so much fun. We didn’t make it this year but I can’t believe you were in NJ and I was in Fl. Loved the pictures!!! I am glad Sophia enjoyed the beach, I am not a fan but my daughter loves it.

I need to start getting my Christmas reads ready! I love the HOHOHO Readathon!!!

Have a great week, Kim! Happy Reading! ox

Right..too funny. Yes, we went to Ocean City every summer for two weeks when I was kid, but the hubby and I love Wildwood, so we took our own family there every summer for two weeks. It was good to go back. It had been 15 years since we were there last.

  13. Juli

I understand about coming home exhausted. A 19 hour drive is a good excuse! (And weddings can be stressful too) I’m glad you got a little time to relax and read. Looking forward to your review of A Promise of Fire. It sounds interesting!

  14. Rita

Wonderful trip for you family! The Jersey shore is a magical place– my brother, who lives in NJ, and his family and extended in-laws rent a house there every August. I love the photo of you and your hubs holding the Princess, very lovely.

I understand the need to relax and do chores after a trip. Laundry and food shopping never go away 🙁 I traveled from upstate NY to southern CA in a week; sounds like you plowed on through and made it a mega-drive, can’t imagine!

Enjoy getting back to normal and looking back on your great summer memories…

We wanted to maximize time with family and the beach. We drove 12 hours first day and the rest on the second each wa tiring but so worth it. We are from the Cherry Hill area, both my hubs and I were born and raised summers spent at the beach were a tradition.

  15. Melissa (My words and pages)

Oh look at those pictures! So glad you and everyone had a great time. Sounds like a wonderful vacation that was well needed. 🙂 And yes, it’s crazy how you need a few days to recover from a vacation. lol.

    Take care!!

  16. Whitney

It is so true that you need a vacation from your vacation. I always require a day or two to catch up on life. I’m glad you had a good time at the wedding and beach, it must have been exciting to take Sophia there for the first time. Have a great week!

  17. Mandy

Looks like you had an amazing week even if you didn’t get a lot of reading. I think that’s the point of vacations you always need a vacation after all the fun. Your beach pictures make me jealous, might just have to drive for to the beach this week for some sandy fun. I hope you have a great week relaxing after the week you’ve had. Have a great week and happy reading!!

Sounds like you had a great week, Kim! It’s nice to just take a break every now and then, even if it means coming back to tons more work. It’s always good to take a little time off to recoop from a vacation. Just relax at home and listen to some audios! Anyway, I hope it’s not too hard to get back on track!
    Have a great week! 🙂

  19. Sophia Rose

I had the same experience when it came to reading on my vacation trip. So much to see and do that was different and plus had the family and friends to visit with. Then I had all the shopping, laundry, and recovery when I got back. Whew! But I can see you had a good time and I know I did. 🙂

Hopefully you’re back on track now and have a good week!

Disney vacations are the worst! I swear I need two vacations to recover from that vacation but I still love it. I never read when I go on trips or vacation, I’m way too distracted and can’t concentrate. Welcome back!

  21. Charlie

What an exciting week! I would much rather have been doing that than what I was. You do need a few days to recover and get back to rights after a vacation.

  22. Nise'

Love the dress and your hair! I just may copy the hairstyle for my son’s wedding in three weeks. I am also wearing a navy dress. Glad you had a wonderful vacation. It always seems to take a few days to recover.

  23. Tressa

So very fun! Glad you had a fabulous trip and I totally get needing a vacation after a vacation. Lol! I haven’t been reading as much either, but now that the Olympics have ended, I plan on reading quite a bit this week. Have a fabulous week!

  24. Steph

So glad you had a nice vacation. I completely understand the needing a vacation after a vacation – they can be exhausting.

I’m so excited for the HoHoHo RAT but cannot commit to helping at this point 🙁

Great mix of books this week. I recognise one of them, and one author.
Love the holiday pics. It’s nice to relax and take a step back from review reading once in a while.
