Sunday Post

For the month of April I read/listened to 25 books. Clean Sweep has begun. I am excited to get a jump on my ARCS, plus I will have new ones from BEA. The week ahead has several giveaways and an exclusive excerpt so be sure to check them out. It has rained here again all week, with thunderstorms and we even had an F1 Tornado touch down. Thankfully there was no damage. I am in need of hosts for the 24 hour Clean Sweep readathon on May 21st. These are simple challenges like spin poetry or pics with blue covers etc. Prizes will need to be international and can be as simple as some swag or a small gift card. Please contact me if you would like to host.

Busy busy times ahead for you with BEA AND the Clean Sweep Challenge!

I don’t seem to get / request a lot of ARCs any more so haven’t joined the challenge but know I’ll be struggling with some major FOMO when you’re at BEA!

25 books! You definitely killed ARC April and are getting a good start on Clean Sweep May! You got In a Dark Dark Wood! I really enjoyed it though I wish the blurbs with stop with the Girl On the Train comparison. Have a great week!

Yikes, tornadoes have always seemed so scary to me. Glad you didn’t get any damage from it.

I’ve heard good things about Every Heart a Doorway. Seems like a quirky, interesting book. Hope you enjoy it!

The weather definitely seems to be out of control. Here it was also raining a lot, and it was very very cold. Brr.. I definitely felt like it was winter all over again.
25 books in a month!! Wow.. that’s really impressive.
Good luck this week and happy reading!

It is cold. I am sitting here with fingerless gloves because my arthritis hurts so dang bad. I want sun and no more rain! LOL

  5. Natalie

25 books! Nice 😀 I only managed to read a couple during April, though things have settled down now so I can get back into some serious reading time. It’s been raining a lot here – since we’ve moved to the desert all it’s seemed to do is rain lol! Stay safe from tornadoes!

  6. Nick

I’m glad to hear there was no damage from the tornado! That must have been scary. I’m excited to hear all about BEA from you. Hope you find some great books!
Totally Awkward Love Story has such an adorable cover. Hope you enjoy all your new reads, Kim.

  7. Greg

Yikes, tornado? Eek it’s that time of year I guess. It started out nice here then got rainy the rest of the week. Today was rainy too. BEA is getting close and you guys are all gonna need Clean Sweep ha ha. Hope your books are good- enjoy your weekend!

It is funny because about mid month I thought I was doing just ok, but was delighted when I tallied my totals last night 🙂

  8. Lauren

Congrats on reading 25 books – well done!
I love Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changelings series although Mine to Possess wasn’t a favorite. Hope you find it more appealing.
    Have a great week!

Thank you. I am having a blast with the series. I have reviews coming up on the previous ones. I just schedule way ahead. I am working on June and July now.

  9. Ramona

Well, 25 books in one month! I’ll have you know I read 11 since the beginning of the year, lol 😀 You are a master of your craft, and I admire you so very much. Keep up the good work, and keep amazing us! Your new arrivals look quite yummy – I think you’ll have troubles deciding which one to pick up first 😛 Anyway, have a wonderful May! Hugs

Eleven is good especially if you work etc. I work part-time from home and watch Sophia a few days a week, but admittedly sacrifice sleep often to read 🙂

  10. Michelle

I’m not looking forward to the start of tornado season here. It’s starting late compared to the last two years, and I’m not looking forward to the late night weather channel watching.
I LOVE the cover for Hoot and Peep! Picture books are so much fun.
I hope you have a lovely start to May, and here’s to another super productive reading month!

I was so delighted to get those for Sophia. I spent Saturday reading, taking pictures and reviewing them so Sophia could take them home. 🙂 She loves Roybot the best.

  11. Lexxie

I have to admit I’m very happy I don’t live in place where tornadoes are common, Kim. I hope you had enough coffee to tide you over 😉
I can’t wait for BEA! I leave in 8 days for Chicago, and I’m so excited to finally meet you 🙂
Have a fantastic week ahead and happy reading.

    • kimbacaffeinate

It makes it fun and hopefully each week I appeal to different folks and perhaps even entice some to try something new 🙂

  12. Hayley

Sounds like you’ve had a great month with lots of reading! I’m in awe of you reading 25 books this month, that’s great. I hope you have a brilliant time at BEA, I’m looking forward to reading all about it afterwards. Btw – I love your afternoon forecast, that’s so great!

I am doing the Clean Sweep Challenge. I want all of my pre-September ARCs read by July, so I can do all personal reading in July and August. This challenge will help. It has been rainy here, too, but Sebastian was able to shut the furnace boiler down yesterday and that was good (more money for books). I will have to swing back around for your recipe post. Gosh, BEA is so close! Have a wonderful week. 🙂

Sounds like an awesome plan. I am scheduling for June and July now. We are going away in August, but I think I am going to do a whole week of giveaways on the blog 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yes, it is never a good thing. This week I have not seen the sun..hail, rain, wind, darn skies, thunder and cold! BRRR

  16. Melanie Simmons

Glad there wasn’t any damage to your place. I so wish I was going to BEA. It sounds like it is going to be so much fun. I’ve never been to that con, but so many of my friends are going. I hope you have a great time. I’m hoping that The Bourbon Thief will come out on audio. I love Tiffany Reisz, so I can’t wait to try her new stuff. I hope you enjoy all your new books.

  17. Stacy Renee

Wow, that is a ton of audiobooks! I’ve only ever listened to one and it took me forever to figure out where I could listen and actually pay attention to the story (while driving was the best for me.) I’m eager to start on my ARCs but I need to finish Cress first and that will be hard because I have a busy week ahead of me and am taking my daughter to the zoo. But I’ll get started eventually! 🙂

Hmm, I listen while cleaning both with headphones and a bluetooth speaker. I also listen when setting up the top portion of my blog posts for review books. I will do a whole month at a time.. I went food shopping and listened the whole trip until check out. I love listening for a half hour at bedtime too.

  18. Kristin

YAY!! You got “Every Heart…”!! I hope the audio does it justice!!! What an eclectic haul of books this week!!

Because of you, I got my dad hooked on audio books. When I was home last week, I showed him Audible and how you can add Whispersync to his books and he can listen to his books and read at the same time. He thought it was the coolest thing!!! He’s going to show my mom b/c she just found out she has glaucoma (booooo!!!!). How fantastic is that?!?!

  20. Jessica

Eep!! I hate tornadoes! I live in tornado alley and I hate tornadoes!! I freak out every severe thunderstorm because I’m worried it’s near tornado weather! I’m always looking at weather channels and radars trying to see what’s happening!

But yay BEA!! Hopefully we’ll run into each other! It’s my first BEA and I super excited!!! Cannot wait for…just everything! Books, authors, bloggers, books!! LOL! Have a great reading week!

Some crazy weather going on over in the middle of the country. Stay Safe!

Yay for getting lots of books read in April, Kimba! You got lots of great looking books this week, too.

We had lots of rain and wind here, too. Luckily, no tornadoes here. I’m glad the tornado in your area didn’t do any damage. I hope you have a great week!

Sounds like you have a busy month ahead of you but it should be lots of fun with your Clean Sweep Challenge. I can’t wait to check out the Blueberry Cheesecake bars sounds amazing. I hope you enjoy your new books. Have a great week!! Thanks so much or hosting this amazing weekly.

Hey, we tied! I read 25 books in April, too. I’m looking forward to Clean Sweep. And I’m glad there were no injuries from the tornado. It’s been very rainy here, too; the Potomac is higher than usual and all the tributary creeks are flooded. Luckily the lake across the street is artificial and has a drain and a spillway, so it won’t flood any houses. Your picture books all look darling, and Every Heart a Doorway sounds good – can’t wait for reviews!

Yay for a tie! Wow everyone is getting rain. Sophia and I had a blast reading them for review. I have one scheduled for May, June and July.

  27. Annika

The weather sounds scary! I’m glad there was no damage!
I’ve just done ARC April but I think I’ll take part in Clean Sweep anyway – there’s always more ARCs to go through, right? 🙂
I’m excited to see what you think of Every Heart a Doorway! It’s super quirky but I enjoyed it!

  28. Lola

25 books in a month, that’s pretty neat! I am pretty sure my number is a lot lower. I have so many good ARC’s and review copies lately, it’s difficult to decide which book to read first. Good luck with making a dent in your arc pile before BEA!
That tornado sounds scary, I am glad there wasn’t any damage! I hope you’ll have a great week!

Hi Kim, I’m always blown away by how many books you read in a month. Very impressive! I will check out last week’s reviews as I missed most. 🙁 I am currently reading Bonfire Of The Vanities by Tom Wolfe. I have many more books in my ‘cue’. Some new releases and some classics ( The Age Of Innocence, I picked up at a used book store). Anyway, my reading list is short but still enjoyable. I will check out some of the other Sunday Posts! I hope your weather improves!!

You did great on your book reading! I am glad that tornado didn’t do any damage, I hate this time of year. I am praying away the rain and storms while my fur babies have to stay outside till dad’s leg is not sore and he can move around without tripping over things (like my fur babies).

    Happy reading,

Hey 2 means you can still join. They can be arcs that have already published on the off chance you have some around 🙂

  31. Lorna

So glad the tornado didn’t do any damage. That is really scary! And 25 books? That is just unreal, you are definitely a fast reader. The older I get the more distracted from what I am reading I seem to get-sometimes. I am like 15 books ahead on my GoodReads but that includes some DNF ones so it’s skewed. Hope you have a great week and here’s to better weather. It’s done nothing but rain here for days!

  32. Lover Of Romance

What a great month you have had! And so many books you got read….congrats on that! Crazy about the Tornado, I live in Utah and we never get those maybe one every 20 years or so. Although I am moving down south this fall and so that may change. Hope its a fun week for you.

  33. Kathy

Have a wonderful time at BEA!! I wish I could go, or even stow away in someone’s suitcase. lol Yay for audiosync! I’ve been waiting for that to start again. I’ve gotten some amazing books from those free downloads and always tell my students about them for summer books.

  34. Sophia Rose

We got a big boomer storm, too, but at least there wasn’t a tornado, but then it was clear until yesterday when we planned to be outside- poured. Thems the breaks! Haha!

Yay, glad for the challenge start. I need to catch up and clear out several review books.

    Have a good week!

Sophia it rained for 7 days here, Thunder, hail, winds and freezing temps. Thankfully this week is.calling for sunshine

  35. Charlie

We had tornado warnings. Thankfully nothing more than warnings. When I was a child I was (overly) terrified of tornadoes – thanks to public education scare tactics. I was always prepared to crawl in the bathtub! You have read so many books! I have finished two books in the last two days. I think my procrastination is giving me a kick in the pants!

  36. Nise'

Glad you escaped storm damage. Looking forward to Sync Audiobook! Have a great week.

  37. Karen Blue

WOW! 25 books is amazing. You inspire me with all your reading.
Tornados are so scary. I lived through one that hit my grandmother’s house when I was little. I will never forget the sound of it.
I am so excited for Clean Sweep. I am so behind I almost forgot to post my goals for the month. I am working on it right now. Thanks for hosting it, again. I would love to host the read-a-thon but I am working that day. Oh, and it’s my birthday (the big 40 for me).

  38. kimbacaffeinate

Those books are adorable and Sophia just loves them. Reviews will post in late May and June for my Nonna’s Corner

  39. Tyler H. Jolley

Wow, that’s impressive! 25 books in a month! And the read-a-thon is perfect timing to make room for all the shiny new books from BEA. I’m so glad everyone was safe after the tornado, spring weather can be so dangerous.

  40. Bookworm Brandee

I still can’t believe you had a tornado! I’m glad there was no damage! We had snow every day last week – just showers until Thursday. Then it was 4 straight days of gloomy, cold, and snow! But today the sun is shining! 😀 Yay for Clean Sweep! I can’t wait to see how many you get read! I’ll be doing good with 5. LOL See you next week!!!

    • kimbacaffeinate

We had 7 days of rain. Our grass is so long its ridiculous. I am so happy to see the sun this week! No more snow Brandee!

  41. Naomi

Oh wow! Tornado’s would have to be scary! We don’t get a lot of those down here. Some cyclones come in from the coast, generally at the top end. Strong winds is about it for here!
Good to see the Clean Sweep challenge is up again!
The Bourbon Thief sounds like a fun new Reisz read… will check that one out!
