Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

I took my flip-flops out of storage.  Our weather goes from cold to warm and back again but just seeing my summer shoes made me grin. Friday was our twenty-eighth anniversary and we had reservations for dinner. My husband came home mid-day from work. Ooo a surprise? Extra time together? Nope. Nope. Nope.  He had been hit by some kind of viral stomach bug.  I can count on one hand the number of times my hubby has missed work for illness so I knew it was bad. After seeing him settled in our bedroom I have been  avoiding him like the plague. I won’t step foot into our room again until he is better and I have decontaminated. Yikes! So a quite weekend making soup and tea. On the upside I got to indulge in my favorite hobby…..reading 🙂  Be well, read a good book and stay caffeinated!

Oh, yes, the flip flops! I don’t wear them, but I do have some favorite sandals that I must bring out…and that means more pedicures, too. LOL.

Enjoy your new books…hope you don’t get sick!

My flip flops are out although I couldn’t beach bum today because it was like 40!!! Ugh hate this. Happy 28th, sorry to hear your husband got sick. Sounds like a quiet weekend for you, hopefully you guys can make that dinner soon. 🙂 Have a nice week.

Thanks Greg. Yep, I have devoured like 4 books this weekend already..LOL It has been very windy here, but it looks like we will warm up mid-week.

Happy Anniversary, Kim! But Oh noo! Not a sick hubby! I hope you can celebrate at some other time. And I hope your husband feels better soon.
I’m loving the cover for City of Mirrors. I must check out that series.
Happy reading and have a lovely week ahead!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yes once he is feeling better. I am crossing my fingers he doesn’t send this illness the house. I feel bad for him, sleep seems to be his only escape. As for me I’ve read 4 books..LOL

    • kimbacaffeinate

I cannot wait to start City of Mirrors. Yeah it was rotten luck, truthfully I am more concerned about catching it. He’s all hug me I feel sick and I am breaking out the crosses yelling back demon. Bwahaha. I’ve been camping out in the guest bedroom.

  4. Laura

I hope you get to spend some nice time together for your anniversary once the hubby feels better!

I reviewed The Obsession this past week and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I’m interested to see what you thought.

    Have a great week!

Only one month to BEA – it’s so funny, now that it’s happening soon, I’m getting more excited about it, and I feel like time is going faster and faster.
Have a great Sunday, a fantastic week ahead and happy reading .

Sorry to hear your husband’s unwell Kimberly. I hope it bypasses you. Also sorry your anniversary celebrations were ruined.

Are you having a book bloggers get together at BEA as heaps of people seem to be going. I’d love to see some pics of a #SundayPost gathering!

Yes we are all making plans to get together. Some of us are going to a high tea, others a baseball game. I hope to meet one of the authors I am a virtual assistant for.. A group of us are communicating in a Facebook group to hang out and meet up,
My poor hubby, I have been avoiding him like, well the plague since he came home Friday. Bad germs…

  7. Hayley

Happy anniversary! I’m so sorry that your husband got sick and you’ve not been able to spend any time together to celebrate. I hope he’s better very soon and that you can have a belated celebration.
How lovely to be able to get your flip flops out of storage, I hope you get the perfect sunny day to wear them soon.
Hope you have a good week.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thanks Hayley. I am sure we will do something, after 28 years and 3 kiddos these things happen. I feel bad for him, it has been a miserable weekend for him.

  8. Kristen

Flip flops in storage? What does that even mean? That’s like blasphemy where I live, haha.

Congrats on your anniversary! But sorry that your husband got sick :-/ Stay well, and have a good week!

Yes we do. We are going to the East Coast for a wedding in August, and ended up getting a place at the shore for the week, so we have been picking things up too 🙂

Happy Anniversary!! Bummer about hubby getting sick. 🙁 I’m suddenly picturing you in a haz-mat suit. lol My hubby also rarely gets sick. *knocks on wood, Lysols keyboard, mouse and monitor* I hope you get that anniversary dinner soon. Have a wonderful, hopefully warm, week, Kim!

Bwahaha..that would be pretty accurate Carol. With my compromised auto-immune system a bug like that could take me out for a week. I look at him, feel bad but fear the green mist surrounding him.

Oh the weather is totally nuts! I wish it would get warm and stay warm!! Sorry you guys missed your dinner and hope your husband feels better. Enjoy your new books and have a great week!

Oh no! Not the stomach bug! That thing has been vicious this year. It’s gone around our office a couple times. Thankfully, somehow, I’ve managed to avoid it. I hope you’re as successful and that your hubby feels better soon!

    Have a great week!

Happy anniversary Kimberly. Sorry to hear your husband got sick. Thankfully we have this great hobby we can do when things suddenly go different than planned! LOL!
Ow flip flops.. I miss them. And I can’t wait to be able to wear them again! Ow.. and outside reading!! I love that. Can’t wait! 😉

Hehe..well years ago I would have held his hand but I am auto-immune compromised and if I get the funk I will lose a week. So nope, no hugs. I provide water, soup, meds and the tv remote. LOL

  13. Michelle

My sister has a flip flop addiction, I believe she has about 56 pairs of flip flops and she is going to florida in two weeks and wants to get more. 🙂

I am so sorry your husband isn’t feeling well. I hope he is feeling better now and you are able to celebrate your anniversary.

Have a great week, Kim! Happy Reading! ox

    • kimbacaffeinate

Oh my even when I lived in Florida I didn’t have that many. I have sporty ones and dressy ones, but also assorted sandals. Hope you have a wonderful week Michelle

    • kimbacaffeinate

LOL, after 28 years we know shit happens. So yes we will celebrate another night. He finally ate a little this waiting to see if he holds on to it.

  14. Melissa (My words and pages)

Oh no. Hope your husband feels better quickly. It’s always miserable having the stomach virus. And hope you can make those reservations for this Friday coming. 🙂

Our weather has been in winter mode this weekend. We’ve had… SNOW! hard to believe!

Have a great week and I hope you get to miss the virus. 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

Snow is a dirty word. I hope Mother Nature settles down soon. I am praying all the preventive steps I have taken keep me health.

  15. Jessica

Oh no!! Getting sick on your anniversary is akin to getting sick on your birthday!! Or other holiday! What a shame. Hope he feels better soon!! Seems like so many people had an anniversary this week! Guess this has been a popular week throughout time! LOL! Congrats on the 28 years by the way!!!

Nice new reads too! Totally new to me! Hope you enjoy them all!

Happy Anniversary!!! What a shame your date night got changed to a sick night – but that’s life sometimes. Speaking of flip flops, living in central Alabama we are able to wear flip flops nearly year round, so that means the feet don’t always look so pretty. I went with my Mom on Friday to get a pedicure. I hadn’t had one in probably a year! It was sooooo nice.

Yay for flip flops! It was actually rather chilly here this past weekend, which was no good! Sorry to hear the hubby is sick! Hope he gets to feeling better soon! 🙂

Happy Anniversary Kim and I hope your husband is feeling better! We have been having weird weather in California – hot one day then raining the next day. It’s raining now and I feel so uncomfortable wrapping up in clothes and closed shoes! I want to wear flip flops even in the rain lol. I hope you stay healthy and enjoy your new books. Have a great week!

I get the uncomfortable thing. I prefer summer clothes. Hubby ate a little today which is a good sign. Fingers crossed it doesn’t spread through the house!

I’m excited for The City of Mirrors! Can’t wait to start reading folks’ reviews of it.

Hope your hubby bounces back quickly! Try serving Pedialyte if he feels really poorly. Your anniversary dinner can be rescheduled, and at least you got some more “me” time between being the nurse 🙂 Thanks for sharing your books.

He finally ate today, little meals but his stomach is still upset and he cannot be up for long. I think he has finally admitted to himself that he won’t be going to work tomorrow. I managed to read 4 1/2 books and one audio this weekend 🙂

  22. Samantha

I’m ready for flip flop weather. It snowed here in Chicago this weekend so I don’t think that’s in the immediate future for us right now. 😛 Hopefully it’ll be a little warmer for BEA! So excited.

I saw that and the east coast saw snow as well. We have been very windy, but no snow. I am excited and nervous all at the same time for BEA.

  23. Mandy

Congratulations on 28 years!!! That’s amazing!!! I’m sorry it wasn’t all you hoped due to your husband getting sick. At least he had you to make soup and take care of him. Plus who can pass up a little extra reading time. Just have to celebrate when he’s feeling better. Our weather has been all over too. I keep my flip flops out year round but I’m in Northern California it’s never snowy or that cold. I hope you have a great week, and your husband feels better.

He rarely gets sick. I feel bad for him since he is miserable and not at all use to being sick. Ah, I use to keep and wear mine all year long when we lived in Florida 🙁

  24. Sophia Rose

I wonder if pulling out my flip flops will make the snow go away…. worth a try.

Ah, poor guy! Getting the tummy flu is never good. Hopefully, he’ll be ready for a redo next weekend maybe.

Oh, nice haul. I still need to read that Ilona Andrews series.

Sorry that your husband is sick, I hope he gets better soon. The stomach flu is awful.

I’m ready for flip-flop weather. It’s warm here, but there is the super cold breeze that keeps popping up and ruining everything. 😛
I hope you have a lovely week Kimba!

Oh no! I’m sorry your anniversary got messed up but it sounds like you’re still healthy so that’s probably better! I know what you mean about knowing your husband was sick. Mine is the same way. If he’s actually admitting he doesn’t feel well I know it’s serious. Last time we quarantined him for awhile in the master bedroom. I moved downstairs and delivered food trays a few times a day. I didn’t get sick either which more than made up for a few nights on the couch. Have a great week!

That is exactly what I did Katherine. I am auto-immune compromised and when I get ill its ugly. He did managed to eat a little today and keep it down even if he felt bad after eating. Yep once he feels better I will strip the sheets, clean the bathroom and disinfect! Hopefully the rest of us stay healthy 🙂

  27. Lark

What a disappointment for both you and your husband! Stomach flu is miserable.. I hope he feels better soon, and that you get to celebrate your anniversary in style once he recovers. And I hope you get to wear those flipflops soon!

Seems like something is making the rounds one more time before winter gives up the ghost. I hope you both get to have a wonderful anniversary once he’s better. I lost a whole week recently. Not fun. I just bought 2 new pairs of flipflops in some really fun colors. Will probably add to that next time I’m in the store. Got all my summer clothes out, including my bathing suits. Even went in the pool this weekend. Mighty chilly but so refreshing:)

  29. Charlie

At least you made the best of it! Sucks that he got sick and you guys couldn’t celebrate. I’ve been wearing my work flip flops for a few weeks now, but the weather keeps bouncing back and forth. It’s supposed to rain here most of the week.

  30. La La in the Library

Happy anniversary! Have fun celebrating it a little late after the hubs is better. You are a smart girl staying away from him! I might try the 24 hour Read-A-Thon. I will be checking it out. Have a wonderful week. 🙂

No..snow is such a dirty word. I hope it warms up there soon. Hubby isn’t 100% but he went back to work and is eating again 🙂
