1st Mar

Annnnd so it begins. Grab all those books in your TBR pile published before March 1, 2016 and let’s Do This!! Take Control of Your TBR Pile is a month-long challenge to help us get to the books collecting dust. All month-long we are attempting to ditch our ARC’s and look to our own bookshelves. You can listen to audiobooks, read books from your eReader or pull them out of your bookshelf. Library books, arcs that have since published, gifted copies you name it, if it published before March 1, 2016 it counts!!

Set your own goals, mix in ARCs if you must, but focus on clearing those TBR Piles!

To make things interesting I am hosting a 24 hour TBR readathon Saturday  March 12th with fun challenges and hosting a Twitter party Wednesday March 16th @ 7 pm (EST) with cool prizes. Use hashtag #TakeControlTBR To top of the fun you can enter to #win a new 2016 book release or audio. (20.00 US or 1 credit)

What? You haven’t joined in the fun? No worries it isn’t too late, just link up here: Take Control of Your TBR Pile

This is my first ever book challenge (aside from the Goodreads annual challenge of course). I’m pretty excited and looking forward to getting to know some book bloggers as I am adding more reading and book posts to my blog now. I’m signed up for the read-a-thon as well.

Good luck Michelle. I am excited this is your first! The read-a-thon should be a blast too. It is my first time hosting a 24 hour thon and I am gathering my supply of caffeine.

  2. Gwen

This is such an awesome idea. I hardly ever get ARC’s or books to review so I feel like I am at an advantage 🙂 I still feel like I am swimming in books to read though.

I’m just giving you a heads up… DON’T look at my TBR list on my post, seriously. You will want to throw large items in my general direction. Just know that I’m knocking out the best books I have on my TBR. I have a ton of ARCs to read this month, too so my list is modest.

    Seriously, DON’T visit…

  4. Debbie Haupt

Good luck to you all! It looks like March will be spent reading things that won’t be published for a while when it rains it pours. Both publications I review for are very demanding this month. I will track you and be a cheerleader!! Rah Rah!! Poms & cheer outfit not included LOL

  5. Stacy Renee

I’ve been so excited for this! It’s really got me motivated to read books that have been sitting on my shelf for a long time! Just got started! Good luck to everyone participating! 🙂

This is perfect, I’m disconnecting from everything when we go on vacation mid month. I’m going to be reading like crazy, I cannot wait. Ok, so I won’t be completely disconnected, but less connected than usual 🙂

I’m so thrilled to be taking part in this challenge, Kimberly. I did it last year but didn’t plan well so I sucked! 😉 But this year, I planned. I may not read as many books as I’d like, and I may regret having actually picked books to read (may not stick to that 😉 ) but it’s going to be fun! I’m still on the fence about the read-a-thon…I’m just not sure I can get more than one book read in a day. (if that!) Thanks for hosting this challenge!! 😀

Did you notice I didn’t announce what books I will be reading? What I did was pulled books off my shelf and set in a pile by my bed, and loaded the home screens of my Kindle and Nook with books from my TBR pile…I am going to go with the flow!

  8. Melanie Simmons

My goal for this year is to finish off or catch up some series that I’m behind on, so this challenge is perfect for me. I was also very excited that the two March releases that I was sure I couldn’t want for, I got early, so I’m already done with them. So it’ll be much easier to focus on those older books.

I seriously am so sad that I have been sucking it up in the reading department lately. I love this challenge but I know that I will not do well. For whatever reason I just haven’t had the time or desire to read much lately and it really is freaking me out a bit, Maybe I’m burnt out? I don’t know. 🙁

Oh wow! I didn’t realize it was allowed that new releases/arcs could be mixed in with the old when necessary so I thought I couldn’t qualify for the challenge. Woots! I can do this. I already turned in my challenge update for the blog, but I can do a shelf on GR and update weekly on FB. 🙂 Better late than never. I’ll go for 10 books to really challenge myself, but still be realistic since I have several arcs and new releases to read as well.

Thanks for hosting, Kimberly! Best of luck to you and the other challengers. 🙂

Yes, the idea is to simply try and read as many from our TBR pile as we can. As bloggers abstaining from arcs and must reads would most likely kill us! Bwahaha.

Here’s a link to my goals post on goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/user_status/show/89905943 Can you see it?

I shared the button as a status update on Goodreads. Is that ok? Normally I do updates on Twitter so this is the first time I’ve done this on Goodreads 🙂

Looking forward to getting a lot of reading done!

  12. Tracy Terry

Ooh, having joined in with a similar event previously I’m a big fan of anything that encourages me to read some of the books gathering dust and threatening to topple off the mountain that is my TBR pile. However way behind with books received for review I think I’m going to have to give it a miss this year. Good luck though, I look forward to reading of your progress.

I am looking forward to joining in…slightly late to the party but still betting I have a great time! Thanks for hosting (and I LOVE the button–too cute!)

  14. Rita

Kim, not sure what you mean by first field in Rafflecopter, my linky #? I’ve been pasting in the new book review link but maybe I’m doing this all wrong. I know I’m linked up to your blog from a master post on my blog and a button my blog? Thanks.

Nope, actually you didn’t two are in there right The first question you answer only once and it’s done, then you answered button on blog, and added two books. So you only need to re-enter one book, a goodreads review. If you need links for what you submitted already let me know:) It was the first book you entered that was wrong.

  15. MarthaE

I think I made a wrong entry but on Post Goals. I did post the initial Challenge post but when I went to the Goals post I input a book link. I am sorry for the error. I just did an update post so here is the link to replace the incorrect one if that is possible to count for credit:
Also, one audio was a short story. Does that not count like no novellas? Thanks! I’m glad I am participating.

  16. miki

oki looks like i put the link to one of my review but didn’t submit it yet as it was still in teh form so i submitted it ( hoping i didn’t submit it twice, if i did i’m very sorry!) and i ve entered today book even if my mind isn’t on reading whith what is happening in my country

    • kimbacaffeinate

Ah, It will only allow you to enter up to 2 books in a 24 hour period as stated in rules. If this isn’t the issue, let me know and I will contact giveaway tools for assistance.
