Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

Well I recovered from last week’s 24 hour thon and time change..but it was rough. On Tuesday I fell asleep at 4:30 in the afternoon and slept until 8 am Wednesday!! I think with May’s 24 hour thon I will wake up at 6 am and read till midnight. We had snow yesterday. Disgusting right? I’ve been a little stressed about my babies and taking steps to ensure I don’t have an RA flare up. Even as adults you never really stop worrying about them, it just so happens two are going through some stuff (career, boyfriend etc) and this mama cannot help but worry. I hope your week was fantastic! Check out my Wanted info and stay caffeinated!

Wanted Guest Posts- As many of you know I am attending BEA in May. I am currently looking for 4 bloggers to do Guest Posts May 10-13th. I would like them to be discussion or tips posts. Examples; Top traits I like in a protagonist, things I have learned through blogging, how to, trending genres themes, what makes a romance swoon-worthy, etc. (These can be YA, NA or Adult topics) I would like them to be positive and encourage folks to share their thoughts in the comments. Each post will feature a spotlight of you and your blog. It will include links.  You would be responsible for replying and visiting commenters for your post. I am giving Sunday Post folks first chance at these spots and will open it up to others next weekend. Post would be due to me by April 22nd. This is a fun opportunity to introduce folks to your blog and make new friends. Contact Me if you are interested with post topic.

Ewww! Snow in March should be illegal, right? 🙂 You had a read-a-thon followed by a sleep-a-thon. Sounds about right to me. 😀 I hope everything turns out ok for your babies. No matter how old our kids get they’re still our babies to worry and fret over even as they protest it. 😉 I hope your week is fantastic and snow-free!

Yes, they are good kids I just hate to see them struggle at anything. I have to remember I did the same at their age. Thankfully the snow did not stick but it’s cold and windy.

Some great new reads this week. And snow! Yuck. I can tell we have some cool days coming because my knees ache and the cat won’t jump up on her favorite chair. We’s all getting older. LOL And I know what you mean about our babies. My son may be over six foot tall, but I still see that little snuggle bundle:)

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yes, over the next two weeks we yo-yo between freeze your ass off and open the windows. LOL yes, my son is tall as well and he is still my little man 🙂

  3. Deborah

Oh… I wonder if you’d like an Australian-flavoured guest post in May?

Hope your sleep patterns settle down again soon. Mine have been all over the place lately!

Keen to hear what you think of Beside Myself. I read it at a time I was reading 1-2 other books about twins, so it was kinda strange!

Love the business cards! Hope your kids are doing better soon and all turns out okay with whatever they may be currently dealing with. 🙂

I feel like I did fairly well with exercise last week, but I hope to keep up with it since I’ll be starting a new job Monday and it will be weird having a different schedule to work around a few days a week.. haha

Sometimes the body just takes over and decides it’s time to sleep! And the time change always screws me up- you wouldn’t think an hour would make a difference, but it does. 🙂 Especially springing ahead.

    Business cards look nice! 🙂

I hope things with the kids work out, Kim. I can understand why you are worried!
And I hope you find some awesome people for guest posts!
Exciting books this week! And wohoo for winning a Kindle!
Enjoy your haul, Kim and have a lovely week ahead!

I love both Gena Showalter and Kelley Armstrong, so I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts. Snow and time changes sound aweful. I’m always glad this time of year that I live in the desert and in a place with no daylight savings (yay Arizona ). I hope you have a great week!

I think it’s normal to never stop worrying about our babies! I remember my grandma worrying over my mom – this was after I had my first two children – my mom was coming to visit me, and I think she forgot to call my grandma to tell her she arrived safely 😀 My grandma was NOT a happy camper.
What a great idea to have guest posts for when you’re in Chicago! I am not sure yet what I’m gong to do… maybe just do picture posts.
I hope you’ll have a wonderful week ahead, with lots of happy reading. *crosses fingers for #2*

Your so lucky to be going to BEA! I wish that I could go, but my schedule just didn’t work out this year. Maybe next year. I have some ideas for a guest post, so I will fill out the contact form to see if you want me to do a post while your gone. Hope that you have a sunny (and not snowy) week! 🙂

  10. Annemieke

As a mom it is hard to let go of your babies,. No matter how old they are you will always worry. I hope things are okay with them though. 🙂
    Snow? That feels so wrong.

I hope you have a good week.

I love your business cards! We were supposed to get a bad ice storm this weekend but all we received was a dusting of snow, which is gone now, so we lucked out. It went back down into the lower 20s though and that was sad. My son is going to be 24 in a couple of weeks and I still worry about everything, so I understand. Having two kids with “stuff” going on must be really tough, though. *big squishy hugs* Here’s hoping this was the last of the snow for this year. Have a wonderful week. 🙂

I know what you mean about always thinking about and worry about your kids even when they’re adults, Kimba. It doesn’t stop. Take care of yourself, too. Glad you got extra sleep after your marathon reading.

I love your business cards. Very professional. I hope you have a great week–and no more snow!

I’m pretty sure it would take me days to recover from a 24 hour ANYTHING a thon! They always appeal to me when I see bloggers posting them… but then I remember I love and cherish sleep, too. I hope you have an AMAZING time at BEA. I’m so bummed it’s not in NYC this year because I couldn’t swing the trip to Chicago. But, at the same time, I’m excited for friends who are getting a chance to go because of the location. It’s such a great time. I’m definitely feeling withdrawal pains this year!

I am sure they will be find Heather. Yeah when mine were that age I wanted them to live with me forever, but by the time they entered college I was ready…I missed them, but ready.

  14. Red Iza

Our babies will always be our babies 24/7 for the rest of our lives, whatever they think about the “babies” word 😉 We’ll change hours next week-end, I hate waking up an hour early, so I sympathize with you. Have a zen, happy week 🙂

  15. Kristin

Awwww, I’m so sad to hear you’re stressing! Kids… why did we have them if they cause us so much grief? OH! That’s right… 1000 times the joy and love! I needed those words this week, that’s for sure!

On top of that SNOW? WTH? Your RA doesn’t stand a chance! HIDE!! Don’t be sending that snow this way, girl!! Did you realize Easter is next weekend, too? *grumble, grumble*

You are WAAAAAY too good to me! Thanks for showing off the biz cards!! If you didn’t mail them, I can wait now…. soooooo pretty….

BTW – HOLY HECK! YOU WON A KINDLE!!!! Congratulations!!! 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

OMG..no I didn’t win a kindle, I won a kindle ebook gift card.. I seriously picked the wrong image. Hehe. The cards are so wonderful Kristin. Crisp and clean lines. I will give you a truck load in Chicago. They offered a deal on a mouse pad when I ordered them and I got one with Caffeinated Book Reviewer card image..it is so dang cute:)

    • kimbacaffeinate

LOL my Mom and In-laws worry about us and my husband is in his 50’s and I am rapidly approaching them..so it is as natural as breathing.

  16. Kathy

I love your business cards and BEA sounds like so much fun! I have to go to that at least once in my lifetime lol. I’m trying to figure out how to convince my hubby lol.

We will never stop being worried about our kids. I hope everything works out!! It’s the first day of spring so hopefully you’ll stop getting snow soon.

    Have a great week!

I think I worry more than they do Kathy..I hope you get to go at least once to BEA. This is my first trip so I am excited. I want to do a few of the conventions too.

  17. Rita

Love your business card– and two sided! That designer nailed it for you!
So sorry about your RA this week. I’m going down of a major flare-up that lasted off and on since December (!!) with my conditions, and it’s a bummer. I know stress aggravates it and I’ve had so much stress in the last year of my life. It’s said you only get as much as you can handle, but I don’t know.

I would like to read the two Amandas (Quick and Stevens), though many of your books look good to me.

I’m also struggling with sleep problems. I go to bed later and wake up earlier. While I’m in bed I’m sleeping but for some reason my hours are greatly cut and I’m paying the price by being more lethargic and depressed. Hope you find yourself back on track with the sleep soon. I have 3 grown young adult kids and it never gets easier. The stakes are higher now. I could say don’t worry, but I do, so I won’t 😀

I realized that is you, Kim, in the Clean Sweep badge– I could tell by the highly caffeinated, slightly maniacal grin on her face, LOL!

    • kimbacaffeinate

I typically go to bed at midnight, but don’t fall asleep until 2 and get up at 7:30. I do however take a daily afternoon nap. It really helps. Bwahaha on the Clean Sweep Badge! I hope you try Stevens I love the series, and think you would appreciate all the tidbits about graveyards.

  18. Katherine

Snow is definitely disgusting – especially at this time of year! I know what you mean about worrying about your adult babies. It’s so hard not to be able to just reach in and fix stuff or at least make them do what you tell them! I hope everything works out for them. And I hope no RA flare ups. I like your idea for your next readathon. I love the idea of a 24 hour readathon but I realize I’m not quite as young as I used to be so a full 24 hours might not be a good idea! Have a great week!

LOL, I did really good with the thon but the crash was hard. I think I will stick to 6 am to 12 pm, and let the young ones go crazy!

  19. Melissa (My World...in words and pages)

Glad you are recovered from the read-a-thon and time change. I’m realizing more and more each year that the time changes throw me off longer and longer. lol. But spending time at the hospital and therapy with dad and kiddo doesn’t help things either.

Hope you have a great week!

  20. Kristyn

I love the business cards! Snow is never good we are expecting some tonight, but I hope it just passes by! It looks like you got some great books in for review and congrats on winning the Amazon card! I love the May Clean Sweep ARC challenge I will need to sign up!

It always takes me awhile to adjust to time changes. This one wasn’t as bad since I worked evening shifts on Monday and Tuesday and had Wednesday off. I had to drag myself out of bed at 5:00 on Thursday morning which wasn’t fun. Hope you’ve adjusted and caught up on sleep this week!

I am curious about that Jane Austen audio. I just finished listening to Pride and Prejudice (read by Rosamund Pike) and really liked it.

  22. Lola

Our time won’t change until next weekend, not looking forward to it, it’s always hard to adjust that first week or so. Nice haul and yay for winning an amazon gift card! Your business cards look awesome, especially with how they are doubled sides! The designer did a great job with them. Have a great week!

The time change has been killer for me as well, Kimberly! Why, why do they have to mess with our time?!? I hope things get better with your babies – I agree though…we’ll never stop worrying about them, no matter how old they get. 😉 We had snow too – 2 solid days of it. Everything is covered in white – but I’m enjoying it. 🙂 It’s beautiful, if cold, today though. Hope you’re having a great weekend!

OMG..we had flurries and a light dusting which is gone. I am so sorry. It is cold though and I am sick of it. Next year I need to mindful of the time change when scheduling the 24 hour thon..that was a killer combo.

  25. Maureen Beatrice

I love your new business cards Kimberly. They look really nice!!
If I have to believe my mom.. Moms always worry about their children. It’s probably what’s make you a mom. I hope everything works out okay. 😉
The Guest post opportunity sounds like a great thing.
    Have a great week!

I’ve been sleeping a whacky schedule, too. It’s going to be real hard to go back to the school schedule and leave spring break in the rearview mirror. The last time the (ex) fiance and I had a problem and I came back home, she asked me, “Are you going to live like this? How many more times are you going to do this? You’re not the only one who gets hurt.” And she was right. Parents can’t help but worry even when their kids are all grown up. I hope things work out well for both of them.

  29. Melanie Simmons

I so wish I was going to BEA. Another year, maybe. I did not participate in the readathon. DH had just gotten back in town from being gone for a week. I don’t think he would appreciate it if I read the entire day after he got back. I have done a readathon once with Dewey’s and it really threw off my sleep schedule for a while. I hope you have a great week.

  30. Lark

I love your new business cards — so professional and so you! And I hope your kids are OK. Of course you never stop worrying about them — but they have you behind them, so they will be fine in the long run.

Nice book haul this week, too! Can’t wait to hear about the new Heather Graham. I’ve requested it but I’m still waiting to hear back. And those Jane Austen dramatizations look very tempting…

  31. Karen Blue

Your new cards look really good! I am excited that you are going to BEA! I am too and would love to actually meet you in person. The guest posts are a great idea. I am hoping to have enough posts scheduled to get me through that week, fingers crossed.
I see you got Beside Myself. I am anxious to see what you think of it. I know we all worry about our kids. I know their stressors weigh heavy on you, as my kids stressors do on me.
try to have a great week anyways! We are suppose to be getting some snow tonight. I am actually looking forward to it, but I think I am the ONLY one in this whole state that feels that way. (it’s still a miracle for me everytime it snows)

I gave folks a chance to guest post a year or so ago and folks loved it, and I have gotten asked when I would repeat, so this was perfect. I have reviews scheduled in May already, but I think the takeover is such a fun thing.

  32. Dani Chapman

Ooooh! I can’t wait to see what you thought of The One You Want By Gena Showalter. That book is on my to be read list and for some reason I haven’t picked it up yet.

  33. Nise'

I can totally empathize with always wanting the best for our kids, no matter their age! We had a few flakes yesterday and I am hoping they stay away. It looks like the East Coast will be ringing Spring in with a snow storm. It took me until Wednesday to get my sleep sorted out! I hate springing ahead. Hope you have a great week.

  34. Cait

OH oh your business cards are SO CUTE. I LOVE THEM. And omg, congrats on getting to go to BEA…and I hope you find some amazing guest posters. I’m considering doing a little hiatus shortly, myself, but to write a book, 😛 And wondering if I should get guest posters. Asking like this sounds like a good idea! YOU GENIUS. ;D
    Happy reading!

    • kimbacaffeinate

I did guest posts over a year ago for a week my daughter got married and it worked out well. I love to introduce folks to other blogs and was able to fill the slots yesterday. Now when I go on vacation in August I will do a week of giveaways to spotlight book on my shelf that were sent to me. Folks love when I do this!

  35. Lorna

At one point I fully intended to do the all night thing, because I stay up all night any way-but I also sleep all morning. I realized that I just can’t do it anymore! I spoke to my parents everyday until the day they died-if I hadn’t they would have called me-worried to death. That’s just what parents do! I am sure you can’t help worrying about them 🙂 Have a good week!
