Sunday Post #197  How many days till Spring?!?

I am chugging along like the Little Engine. Some days are good and others a struggle. I have found my reading impacted. Lots of DNFs as I find I am favoring mystery, murder and the paranormal. This week Princess Sophia turned one, and today her parents are throwing a party. I am looking forward to the smiles and excitement of it all.  Her first year flew by, and I thank my daughter and son-in-law everyday for sharing this beautiful girl with us. My oldest is here visiting despite the looming Blizzard due to impact us all on Tuesday. I fear she may have to cut her visit short. I hope your week was a good one. We are one day closer to flip-flop season!! Stay Caffeinated.

What a great portrait! I don’t have kids and only ever experienced children through my niece but she was such a joy. Even now I spend time with a friend with a little boy and he’s a delight and often, just seeing him makes everything alright.

    Enjoy the family time.

Congrats with Sophia’s first birthday. What a great picture. She really looks like a princess!
Too bad about the DNF.. But if the book just isn’t for you, than it’s a waste of time to keep on reading. I hope your reading will be better this week!
Have fun at the party tonight! 😉

My Goodness she is a cutie! I hope she has a wonderful birthday!
I am hoping your blizzard isn’t as bad as ours. That was a heck of a lot of snow to shovel. Sorry for all the DNFs I had a genre change recently too and realized I am liking more NA and adult romance instead of the YA Romance I usually read. It’s a nice change and so far I have found some good books to read.

Have a good week, Kim! Happy Reading!

Flip flop season- I’m ready! Hard to believe one year already- it flies doesn’t it? Great pic of the little one! Hope the blizzard doesn’t hit you too hard, and stay warm!

Happy 1st birthday to Sophia. She is so precious, that portrait is really good, I want to come and have a chat with her 🙂 And, of course, hug her.
It’s warmed up so much here that my pollen allergies are already wreaking havoc on me 🙁 while I want spring, I could have really done without the allergy part of it.
Have fun at Sophia’s birthday party today! *hugs*

I am so ready for spring. This cod weather is sad :/. Sophia looks adorable. I hope you have a wonderful time at the party.
I am marking my calendar for all the events. Love the button for taking control 🙂

Happy birthday to Princess Sophia! She is too cute. Good luck with the blizzard! I hope it’s not quite as severe as the one that we got here last weekend. Life’s just now getting back to normal… but DC is notorious for not handling snow well.

    Have a great week!

Happy birthday to Sophia! She is such a little darling. I love the portrait.

Kimba, I’m glad you’re reading whatever helps you cope right now. You’ve had a very tough loss, and it will take time to process and to grieve. I”m so glad you have that precious little girl to fill your days. As for the rest, do the things that soothe your spirit and heal your soul, and let the rest go. I’m sending you warm thoughts and caring hugs.

Ooh I might sign up for that challenge in March! I’ll have to keep an eye on it, it would definitely help me catch up. I’m doing so bad with the Fit Readers, I keep forgetting to actually sign up, but I’m finally joining the gym this week! I’m having hubby make sure I do lol.
Also the portrait of Sophia is adorable!! It also sounds like you have a wonderful family.
    Have a great week!!

Just this weekend we had a burst of Spring weather – highs in the low 70’s from Saturday till about Tuesday this week.. Course down here in Alabama we wear flip flops in 50 degree weather too. 😉 I can’t believe she is 1 already! Time does go by so fast with children. Happy Birthday to Sophia! Enjoy your week and your new books.

Happy Birthday Princess Sophia!! Oh wow that year really flew!
We’re only expecting rain from the system that’s going to pound you but they’re still tracking it so fingers crossed. Hope your kid doesn’t have to get out of dodge early.
Thanks for sharing all of Sophia’s first year with your fans too! I for one am living grandma vicariously through you 😉

  14. Mandy

Happy Sunday!!! Congratulations to your beautiful granddaughter. This year has flown by hard to believe. I’m much ready for spring but I don’t have snow so maybe that’s why it’s not bothering me just lots of wet rain. I feel like I’ve been in a reading funk this month too, just pushed aside the ones that I’m not in the mood for. Maybe next month things will change. It looks like you still had a great week. Thanks so much for hosting. I hope you enjoy your party and fingers crossed no blizzard. Have a great week. .

Congrats for Sophia’s first birthday. I’m going to start doing more DNF as there are too many great books out there to force myself to continue with books that I’m not enjoying. It is something that I’m going to force myself to start doing. I even wrote my first DNF review last week. I hope you have a great week

  16. Lillian

Happy Birthday Princess Sophia!!! The first year goes by SO fast. My little man is turning 5 in a couple of weeks and I just want time to stand still.
I got the Admiral this week too. I’m excited to start it! Love a good sci-fi thriller 😀
Hope you have a great week and stay warm!

I love the portrait of Sophia. She’s darling! Have fun with her party. I hope the reading goes well this week. And that you don’t too much snow.

I have to sneak back for Nona’s Corner. I think I am going to start doing a monthly post linking all of the Children’s book reviews I see on blogs I follow regularly. Happy birthday, Sophia! She has the most gorgeous eyes. Have a wonderful week and be good to yourself. 🙂

I think I’ll do a pedicure today in preparation for flip flop season – you’ve got me counting down, too!!!

BTW – are you keeping track of your DNF’s? Are you going to do a post of all the DNF’s you had? I think you should. It seems like EVERYONE is DNF’ing these days, right???

  20. Lola

Congrats to Sophia her first birthday! I cna’t believe she’s a year already, she looks adorable in that picture. I hope the party will be fun! I am sorry to hear about your reading and the many DNF”s, I hope you can find some genres that work for you. I hope you’ll have a great week!

Happy birthday Sophia! It seems impossible that she is 1. I’ve been leaning towards mystery and paranormal as well. Maybe something about January? I’ve been finding I want to do some binge reading of Heather Graham’s book! Have a great week and I hope you don’t get too much of a blizzard!

I liked your discussion on Caffeinated Confessions. And Princess Sophia is beyond adorable! Her personality just shines through her facial expression!

I’m sorry that you are having trouble finding your reading mojo during your grieving. I won’t tell you that the grieving will go away– it won’t– but you will find your happy memories of Dad popping up more and more, and replacing the sad ones. It is a long, tough process, but you will find yourself smiling at something your Dad said or did fondly, and gradually forget to cry over his loss. God bless your family. Thank you for continuing to read, blog, and comment during this difficult time– we selfishly enjoy your company.

What a doll! My one and only turned 1 last month and it was such a fun milestone though I wish she could have stayed my little baby for a while longer! I’m so looking forward to Spring! It’s the best time to get out of the house in Florida!

Awww, so adorable! Happy Birthday to little Sophia! I hope you don’t get too snowed in. But if you do, I hope you have lots of books to read. 🙂 I hope you have a great week and the sun comes out for you, soon!

  27. Kathy

What a precious picture! I’m the complete opposite in asking where is spring. We’ve had weather in the 60’s this past week, and I’m really wanting a good snow…something more than just a couple of days worth. Tennessee rarely sees snow (even though we had a couple of weeks’ worth to shut down the city last year), so I would love a good blizzard…okay, a small blizzard.

  28. Nick

Sorry to hear about all the DNFs, Kim. But it’s better to DNF than read books you’re not enjoying. I can’t believe Sophia is 1 already! It feels like just yesterday when you announced her birth. 🙂 She’s cute little girl. I hope the party is fun for you.
Enjoy all your books this week and have a lovely week, Kim!

What a precious picture! And I can’t believe that she’s already a year old-seems like she was just born a few months ago! They grow up so fast. Hope the party is fun and if possible the blizzard misses you. I just got out for the first time yesterday since our blizzard here in Maryland last weekend so I know they are not fun! Hope you enjoy your week and stay warm and safe 🙂

  30. Jen

Enjoy your time with your family 🙂

I am currently reading Mercury Striking. It’s really good so far. I’ll have to go back and read your review once I am finished with it (no point now since I’ve already started).

    Have a great week!

  31. Sophia Rose

I had a reader mood like that for a few weeks that was unfortunate because it didn’t match up with my planned stack of books. I finally got smart and just skipped to the ones that were better suited to the mood. 🙂

Aw, glad you’ve had a lovely year with Sophia and could celebrate with a party. Hope your oldest gets back safely after the party.

  32. Nise'

Happy Birthday to Sophia! It is fun to be one! I am sure she helps your heart tremendously. Hope the storm doesn’t hit too hard. Not sure how close it will be coming to us. Hope this is a better week for you.

I know how you feel! Off and on all month long I’ve been finding some DNF’s and then a lot that I really love. There doesn’t seem to be a happy medium for me!

I hope it gets better for you!

    Have a nice week!!

I think taking things one day at a time is a good thing, Kimberly. And I’m glad you have your little Princess around to make you smile and give you something to look forward to. 😀 That photo of her is wonderful. She’s a little doll! I hope you enjoy your visit with your oldest and Princess Sophia’s party. And hopefully the prediction for your snow is off and you only get a little. 😉

  35. Tyler H. Jolley

I’m sorry again for your loss. It’s so hard to lose someone close to you, especially a parent. I’m glad you were able to find joy and have a good time with your granddaughter’s birthday.

  36. Tressa

I’m glad you’re week is going okay. I think reading what you need right now is just fine. Sometimes I get in moods and I only want to read certain things.

One year is a huge milestone too. They grow up so fast! My youngest will be going to Kindergarten next year and I’m not ready.

Hopefully the weather won’t be too bad. It was pretty windy and very cold here yesterday and still cold today, but at least the sun is out.
