Sunday Post #195 Return to Normalcy

This week we returned to our normally scheduled program..ha. Our weather was so weird this week. It was dark, cold and almost every day we had some form of precipitation. Rain, sleet, freezing rain and snow. Thankfully the sun was out Saturday as I almost forgot what it felt like. Sign-up for the March Take Control of Your TBR pile is up. I hope you join me. While the goal is to only read books from your TBR pile for the month of March, any books read from it will be considered a win. So join in the fun! I have some openings on the Unraveled Tour in February and would love it if you would consider hosting a spot.  I hope your week is a good one. Stay Caffeinated!

I’m in full agreement about not going outside unless the temperature is above my age. Actually since I’m only 35 I’m thinking I need it to be double my age! We’re getting back to normal around here as well (or what passes for such) and it’s heaven! I missed my routine. Have a great week and stay warm and dry in that crazy weather!

Am looking forward to seeing your ‘most anticipated releases’ Kimberly! I have to admit I don’t have a lot of books on my radar at the moment – though guess I’ve put in requests of publishers for a few months in advance (we’re up to April I think).

And yes, back to normal programming for me too after taking a month off blog reading and writing. (Am looking forward to catching up with everyone again though!)

There are some releases I am dying for..LOL It is good to be back, I enjoyed the break but missed chatting with everyone. Glad you has a nice month off and are back to blogging, reading and writing.

  3. Greg

We had a pretty mild week weather wise but we’re supposed to get slammed with snow overnight- so tomorrow will be white and fluffy! Haven’t had much snow yet and to be honest I haven’t minded. I also agree with your graphic- if the temp’s below my age I’m staying in. I wish… 🙂

I look forward to seeing what you think of Into the Dim.

Greg..I left the house once this week for 20 lie. LOL Homebody to be sure, and the cold is is freezing here. The wind howls out there!! Enjoy the snow..from indoors.

  4. Bea

I shared that temperature gif on my FB last week; if only I could actually do that. Sigh. Now if we could do something about how early it gets dark.

Lots of books in your haul; Into the Dim looks interesting.

    Have a great week!

Yes…i need some sun coming in my windows. Ha..I probably got the gif from you. Sat we had a high of 10. It is -2 right now and windy.

Our weather has been a bit wonky, too. Hopefully it’ll settle down to something resembling normal for around here. We sorta got back on a schedule, but with exams coming up and Anna starting college (and not having a license yet!) it’s gonna be so exhausting. I just want to stay in my jammies all day. Is that too much to ask? lol

Normal would be good..but here that is bitter cold. Nope…some days I am in my pj’s until two in the afternoon, since I work from home and chase Sophia around. When it’s cold like this I have been known to get a shower in the afternoon and put on fresh pj’s!

  6. Michelle

Need to sign up for the March TBR Pile. I didn’t do good with it last year but I plan to do better this year.

The weather here was freezing wind chill was 15 and today is like 60 we are suppose to get a pretty good storm today but I thought it would have been here by now but I guess it’s taking it’s time.

Have a great week, Kim! Happy Reading! ox

    • kimbacaffeinate

As far as I am concerned any amount of books read from your TBR pile is a win Michelle! Winter sucks..after Christmas is over I want my flip-flops back..hehe. Have a wonderful week and stay warm.

  7. Natasha

It’s always hot and sunny at my place, and we complained about the heat instead 😛 Hopefully you will see more of the sun! I read about the TBR challenge and it seemed interesting! I am considering to join! You have a great haul this week and hope you enjoy your books 🙂 Happy Sunday!

I will never complain about the heat. We lived in Florida for 6 years and I loved every sunny, hot, rainy minute of it..LOL I hope you do join us for Take Control. It is a lot of fun!

  8. Yvonne

The weather really has been crazy…one minute it’s cold, the next warm. Perfect weather to get colds 🙁 I’ve been lucky so far.

I always say I’m going to join the TBR challenge…I desperately need it, but I never have time. Hope you have a great week!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Well we haven’t seen temps about 39 but it has gotten bitter cold with some negative numbers and lots of wind. Sign-up if you read or listen to one book a week from your TBR pile you will be ahead!

  9. Nick

Your weather sounds like the perfect weather to curl up near a fire, a pet in a lap, and a book in your hands to! 🙂
I’m excited for you to read Appealed. I really enjoyed it! I’ll be reading Into the Dim and I’m looking forward to it.
    Happy reading!

I am excited about Appealed too, in fact it in my queue for this week. Fingers crossed by Into the looks so good, but YA always makes me a tad nervous. Yes the plan for this afternoon is me, coffee, and a book cuddled by the fire!

  10. Tressa

Lol! Love the Snoopy image! That’s what I’ve felt like here. Cold and very wet in AZ this past week. I need to check out your Passenger review, although I’m hoping to read it soon so maybe I’ll wait until after I’ve posted my review. I joined your RAT too. I know it’s a ways away, but my goal is to really stay on top of things this year. Early is better than late. 🙂 Have a great and warmer week!

  11. Lark

Welcome back! The weather really has been unusual.. We had a lot of grey skies and some snow in northern New Mexico, where I’ve been visiting my parents. Snow isn’t that unusual (they live in the mountains, more or less) but days and days of overcast skies sure are! And the Snoopy cartoon made me laugh.

Thanks for hosting the Take Control of Your TBR Pile challenge! I hope to participate this year, though I know I’ll have at least somea few review books to read during that month.

Yes, not having any sunshine is the worst. I always read ahead, but will have a few arcs to read as well. The plan is to read mostly my books though.and post them in April and May.

  12. Michelle

I hate that it’s back to normal. I make my own hours and I still can’t handle it, lol. I miss sleeping in so badly. It’s been rainy here off and on, but it can’t decide if it’s going to be super cold or not. I’ll try to remember to sign up for the TBR challenge on Monday.

I hope you have an awesome week this week Kimba!!

  13. Literary Feline

It has been so nice to see the area mountains with snow on them again. Luckily they are a safe distance away. We have gotten lots of rain, which I love. I had every intention of starting Guest Room this week, but I ended up picking up another book instead.

I hope you have a great week!

We only go back to the normal schedule tomorrow. This past week was just lazy, and that was so nice!
The weather here has been really weird as well, raining, grey, fog, dark, dreary… Good thing we are actually moving towards summer and light once more.
Your new books are all new to me as well, but I hope you’ll enjoy them.
Have a fantastic week ahead and happy reading.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Lazy is sometimes perfect. Good luck returning to the normal routine. Everyone is having weird weather, ooh I love I am excited about some of these Lexxie. Enjoy your last day of unwinding.

  15. Dee

It was rainy and cold here too thanks to El Nino. I have had enough of the weather extremes lol Looks like some great stuff is happening on your blog. I will be sure to check out the March TBR challenge.

Will deffo join in your March challenge, it’s always good to make a focused attack on the TBR! And good to see a new Emma Chase book, that’s news to me. Christmas was fun but I for one am glad now to be getting back to normal and back in to routine. Hope 2016 is good to you Kim.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I am glad to be back too, I am excited about Appeal, I loved the last book to pieces, and hope this delivers more of the same goodness. So glad you are joining up for Take Control.

  17. Grace

The weather here is gross – lots of rain. Better than snow though! I can’t wait to get to Appealed – I just listened to and loved Sustained. Also, Inside the O’Briens is on my to read list. Enjoy all your new books and have a great week!

Your XOxperts packages are awesome!! I still need to start ANY of Chase’s books, let alone her “Briefs” series 🙁 And it’s funny, Greg gets my weather first, sometimes worse, b/c he’s on the other side of the state. I’m getting all that snow later today. It’s raining buckets right now so you know that means… sitting on my butt all day!!! YAY!!!

  19. Holly

We had quite the warm December flip-flop and shorts weather so I am not looking forward to winter temps, which for us don’t usually come till January and February. Cold Rain/sleet/snow (rare – ha!) are not for me!

Enjoy your week and all your new reads!

Normalcy? I don’t know if I know what that is anymore. lol. I’m trying but life seems to have other plans these days. The weather here has been crazy too! We get snow one day then two days later it’s warm like spring again. I don’t know what is happening. Crazy, I say!

Hope you have a great week this week. 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

Mother Nature is having issues to be sure. Sorry normalcy isn’t in the picture…take it one day at a time my day at a time

  22. Karen Blue

Ohhh! You got Into the Dim. I requested that everywhere but then crickets. I am looking forward to your review for that one. I hope this week is sunnier for you. We started off the week cold and had mildish temps toward the end of the week but I haven’t seen the sun for 4 days now.

  23. Wattle

You can have some of our warm weather if you like! It’s been so hot and gross here, it’s humid and sticky and the worst type of summer. Ugh. I can’t wait until it’s over 🙁 just some nice, all year round spring or autumn weather would be perfect.

I’m going to shoot you an email about one of those review requests, eep!

I hope that you enjoy all of your new reads!

This year has some crazy weather. Warm, to tornados, to rain, to freezing temps. It’s crazy! I was thinking of doing the TBR challenge, but I realized that I’ve kind of been doing it anyway. Most of my audiobooks are from my TBR, while my arcs are all digital. I do need to get some of my ebooks read. I have some that were released years ago that were auto buys but yet, I never got to them.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I too have auto-buys and pre-blogging I would have devoured them on release I am attacking those first. I do good with my own audio, but book purchases aside from a few must read now things..I am behind!!

  26. Samantha

The weather was crazy here this week as well. It seems to have finally made up it’s mind and settled into being winter-y out this weekend though. This is the coldest day we’ve had so far (17 degrees). I’m glad that I don’t have to go out in it today.

Looks like you got an awesome book haul this week. The Kate Noble book looks interesting.

I am all for normalcy after the long holiday season. If only it would warm up a little more I think I would be happier. I just finished Passenger this week which you enjoyed too. I still need to sign up for the Take Control of your TBR but I plan to just need to do it. I’m kind of making a list for it before I post. Of course we all know how lists go. Thanks so much for hosting. I hope you enjoy your new books. I see some that I’m curious about. Have a great week.

I just got Into the Dim for review and I loved Inside the O’Briens. I should join that TBR challenge. I have a lot of ARCs I need to read.

We are getting some winter weather this week in Ohio. It is currently snowing outside my window. I’m not a fan of the white stuff or winter in general. I’d love to just sleep and wake up and have it be spring!

    Have a great week!

  29. Stephanie Once Upon a Chapter

I couldn’t agree more with Snoopy! We went from 40 on Friday to 8 this morning. And that’s without the windchill. It certainly makes for perfect reading weather. We have a birthday party to go to this afternoon and it’s the first time all winter that we’ve had to really bundle up. 🙂

Hope you have a great week Kimberly!

Glad your routine is mostly back to normal. That can always be nice after the hectic nature of the holidays. It snowed today, which was actually kind of nice since I’m just relaxing at home anyway. I do like the snow when it comes. We’ve had such odd weather this winter so far. haha

Great minds must think alike. My goal for 2016 is to read all of my TBR. I have more TBR than I can read in a month so it will be all year long. I purchase quite a few books because I love the covers and they aren’t always in my favorite genres. I’ve finished reading only one this month….have to pick up my pace. BTW – It’s 11 degrees in the Chicago suburbs today. Argh……

    • kimbacaffeinate

We hit 12 before dipping way back down, but this little lady did not venture out. I love the Take Control because I am so awful and getting my own auto-buys read. I hop you join in the fun as extra encouragement.

  33. Charlie

Our weather has been dark and dreary, too. This weekend the sun’s finally come out! I am not ready for the return to normalcy. Does anyone else feel like this? haha

  34. Sara

Last week was a weird week over here, as kids and hubby went back to school/work, and we had several doctor/dentist appointments, all on top of each other. I’m looking forward to this week, as thing finally get back to normal (I hope lol).

  35. La La in the Library

Everything is pretty much back to normal here, too. All the holiday goodies are gone! A lot of people have been saying good things about Into the Dim. I haven’t checked out the synopsis yet, but I think I will head over to GR right now. Have a wonderful week. 🙂
