Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

It’s that time of year where we Fall back and reset the clocks. While I appreciate the extra hour I hate the early darkness. For the month of October, I read and listened to 25 books. We had our annual fire in the driveway for Halloween. We set up the fire pit and give out toys and candy. We have a few drinks, hand out shots to parents, chat up the neighbors and enjoy ourselves. Princess Sophia was the cutest little monster for Halloween. (see pic) We are heading to Iowa Monday afternoon to spend a few days. Our oldest is buying a new car and wants the parental support when negotiating. We are taking Sophia with us, it should be quite the adventure. We have two events coming up in November- the Ho-Ho-Ho readathon and Black Friday Book Bonanza Giveaway Hop. I hope you will join us. Don’t forget to fallback and for goodness sake stay caffeinated!!

Your Halloween party sounds like great fun. And that’s a very cute pic of Miss Sophia . (It’s sideways for me though I am lying down & on my iPad!)

That is too funny. I panicked for a minute, because I had to turn the photo in media because it loaded sideways… She looks cute that way too 🙂

  2. Katherine

Sophia is definitely the cutest monster around! The annual Halloween fire sounds fun. It poured down rain all Halloween so that put a damper on any outdoor plans we may have had but we still managed to have some fun! Good luck with the car negotiation and enjoy your new books! I’m really curious about the Elin Hilderbrand. Have a great week!

Thanks Katherine. She had such fun tonight with her cousin. They parents pulled them in the wagon and did the block..it was just enough. Princess Sophia loved seeing all of the children. We are excited about seeing our oldest. and I am hoping Hilderbrand’s book is good

  3. Natalie

She is definitely the cutest little monster! 😀 We had a lot of trick or treaters come to the house tonight. We had a candy bucket and a toy bucket (in case anyone had allergies) and even the non-allergy kids all wanted to toys instead! Next year, more toys less candy (although then we don’t get to eat the left overs so maybe not 😉 )

Perfect Days sounds like a really good read! I hope you enjoy it 🙂

A fire in the driveway- what a great idea. Sounds like fun. We had rain all day so it was a pretty wet Halloween. Of course tomorrow is supposed to be nicer! Never fails.

Cute pic of the little one! Have a safe and fun trip…

Bummer Greg, we had the rain yesterday. Tonight was just chilly enough for a fire, but not cold enough that the kiddies had to hide their costumes.

  5. Jae

Sounds like quite the Halloween celebration. I love that you gave shots to parents heheh. I need neighbours like you! Also, Sophia is so previous and makes an awesome little monster. Have a safe trip and I hope the car negotiations go well. Have a great week! 🙂

Aw! Sophia is so cute! It sounds like your set up for Halloween was pretty cool! We were all so tired from handing out candy earlier in the morning at a town event we were all basically tired to want to hand out candy last night. I hope the trip and car negotiations go well!

As a shop owner I imagine you saw a lot of trick or treaters. When we lived in a small town we did up Main St every year when the kids were little.

  7. Maree

Twenty-five books – that’s a productive month! Aw, that picture is toooo cute! We sprang forward here in September but the weather has yet to catch on to the idea of warming up. Have a great week! 🙂

Your Halloween sounds so fun! I really like the idea of your tradition 😀 I had to giggle at the shots for adults though, lol. Princess Sophia looks awesome! Fantastic outfit. Good luck with helping with the car bargaining too, remember to haggle! Fair prices and all 🙂
    Have a great week 😀

Awwwww, Princess Sophia is the cutest little monster ! We reset the clocks last sunday, we have extra light in the morning but not for long, the dark months are coming. Now, it’s Indian summer here in France ! Have a safe trip to Iowa 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

We are farther west, so it won’t get dark as early as the east coast..but it makes me shiver thinking about the cold weather ahead.

  10. Lexxie

Princess Sophia the Monster is too cute for words! And your Halloween party with candy for the kids and shots for the parents… that sounds perfect 🙂
Congrats on reaching your Blog Ahead goal, Kim, that’s a lot of hard work.
Your new books look good, I’m particularly curious about the Hildebrand title.
Have a fantastic week ahead, and good luck on your road-trip to Iowa 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

I wanted to bite her she was so cute..LOL Thanks the Blog Ahead was fun and I am happy to have my numbers up and posts scheduled into March. I enjoyed last years holiday book by Hildebrand and hope this one is just as good.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Hahaha.. We told the kids we would buy the costume for them and my daughter’s only concern was that Sopha be warm. When I saw this fuzzy pink monster I knew it was perfect. She really did look adorable.

  11. Trish

Your little cookie monster is delicious! Such a cute costume for an even cuter little girl. And your Halloween celebrations sound like a lot of fun! Hope you had a great time and that the car wrangling goes well this week. I’m so rubbish at that and I dread anything to do with buying cars or repairs to cars, it’s not my thing.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Believe it or not I am the one who does well with negotiations.. Of course the salesman always want to defer to my husband and he looks at them and says, “Unless you make her happy, we won’t have any deal” LOL This is my daughter’s first time dealing with a car dealer. Her first car was a private sale.

  12. Lillian

Awe! Sophia is adorable 🙂 Little man had a lot of fun trick or treating himself last night despite the rain.
25 books is great! I did less than half that 🙁 Hoping to get out of my slump this month.
Thanks for hosting Blog Ahead! Even though I didn’t meet my goal of 31, I finished 22 and have almost 20 drafted and ready to go 😀 so success!
    Have a great week!

    • kimbacaffeinate

It was fun doing Blog Ahead, although I felt like a passenger as a host..LOL Reading slumps are very hard, I hope it passes. So happy little man had a good time 🙂

  13. Grace

Your Halloween sounds great with fire pit and shots for parents 🙂 We brought our own beers around when we went! Sophia looks adorable! Have a great trip and a wonderful week!

Holy Smokes! Princess Sophia is just too…cuteness overload! *thud* I may need one of those shot you were handing out. 😀 Yeah, the early darkness is a major bummer. I’d rather have the darkness in the morning to be honest. Have a safe trip and a wonderful week!

Yes darkness till I have finished a cup or two of coffee would be good, although if it is dark I am so not motivated to get out of the warm covers

  15. Wattle

I hope you have a safe trip, good luck with the car buying! It sounds like you had a great Halloween, I love the idea of handing out candy and toys 🙂 it’s not really a thing here (though the local stores are trying very hard to make it a thing lol) but we always have candy on hand just in case!

I want to visit your neighborhood trick or treating! That sounds like so much fun! 🙂

I don’t like the early dark either. that means I leave and come home (from work) when it’s dark, so it’s like I don’t see any daylight! Have a safe trip!

  17. Teddyree

Aww that face, Sophia is the cutest little monster, she could totally play the part on Monsters Inc! Have fun on your adventure! I’ve got See Me on audio, hoping to get to it soon. Have a great week and happy reading 🙂

Sofia looks adorable! I hope the trip goes well. You are wonderful parents (and grandparents) — so supportive of your kids. Your Halloween sounds wonderful. Our neighbors do something similar; they set up chairs and a portable firepit on the lawn, and roast hot dogs and marshmallows while they wait for trick-or-treaters.

Well done on Blog Ahead, and thank you and Anna for hosting it! I made some progress, if not the full 31 posts, and I plan to keep trying to get more posts done ahead.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I am glad you had fun with Blog Ahead any posts ahead is a good thing. Sophia had a lot of fun as did we. Thank you for the lovely comment. We enjoy our children.

Well done with all the books read and listened to, Kimba! And your Halloween celebration sounds wonderful. A really nice celebration.for you and your neighbors. I remember helping our kids with their first car negotiations, too. It gives them a little extra confidence.

I hope you have a great week!

Your Halloween night sounds really fun and Sophia is an adorable monster! I hope you have a safe trip and the car buying goes smoothly. I hate going car shopping so I let my husband do it. I tell him what I want and how much I am willing to pay then he calls me when it’s time to sign lol. Have a good week!

Sounds like you had a great halloween and Sophia looks adorable in her monster custome! Our clocks went back last weekend and while I enjoyed the extra hour of sleep it’s weird to have it be dark outside so early. Thanks so much for sharing the link to my pumpkin cookies recipe! I hope you’ll enjoy your new books and have a great week!

I hate time changes! It always takes me awhile to adjust. This one in particular is hard because I work in the evenings sometimes so it will be even darker on my way home 🙁

Your granddaughter is adorable! Glad you had a good time and safe travels as you head to Iowa.

I just got a copy of See Me from the library and hope to read it soon. It is quite a big book which surprised me. It is the same size as the large print books we order from Doubleday.

  26. Melissa (My World...in words and pages)

Awww, look at that little monster. ;D She is adorable! Oh how they grow so fast. Glad you had a great time. We don’t get tricker treaters where we are, not many houses. So we relaxed at home with a few treats of our own. lol.

Have a great time in Iowa, and a great week.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Wahoo…so glad you joined both my friend..it will be fun. I am anxious for coyer to begin, I love this one since it lets me attack my tbr pile and own purchases.

  27. Berls

OMG Sofía is just the cutest little monster! I want to trick or treat at your house! Shots for the parents?! Yipee!

Good luck with the negotiating – I hate that part of car shopping, but I’m lucky to have a BF/hubby who’s great at it. I just stand back and watch.

I’m hoping I’ll be able to participate in the read-a-thon, I’m starting to get back to speed with blogging and reading, so maybe! Have a great week 🙂

We did, thanks Ashley. I am sitting here thinking about all I need to pack, since we are bringing the baby…it has been a while since I have traveled with a wee one.

    • kimbacaffeinate

It is fun experiencing it with my granddaughter. She was so cute I wanted to bite her. You could get a pet and dress them up..some of the costumes are hilarious.

  28. Nise'

That is the cutest monster I’ve seen. Cole was a giraffe. It was rainy and cold so the driveway plans were cancelled. Too much candy was left over! Have a nice time at your son’s.

Sounds like you had a fun time celebrating Halloween!!! And reading 25 books….that is fantastic!!! Hope November is a fabulous reading month for you.

I managed to sleep the extra hour last night. I hadn’t even realized that the clocks were changed when I first woke up. You’re lucky to share your Halloween and upcoming trip with Sophia. I’m just far enough from the grandkids that I get the text messages with pictures of the kiddos in the Halloween costumes!

I enjoyed Blog Ahead, though I didn’t complete as many posts as I had hoped. It was still a very good experience.
