Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

I updated my Sunday Post Button, not a huge change but I am trying to reformat buttons so that they are more friendly with Google, Tumblr and other social media who want a certain size to pick them up on their feeds. Yeah I know *shakes head* The things we do. It was fun playing with them and I noticed a lot of my buttons said Kimba from the old blog name. Ok, it was raining I was bored and needed to play with picMonkey. I had a good reading week and my September Xoxpert package arrived but I will share next week since many didn’t receive theirs yet. Stay Caffeinated and enjoy your week.

Love that coffee gif; whenever I see it on FB I like it.

I’m ready for the Ho-Ho-Ho Read-A-Thon, got my books all set and ready to go! πŸ™‚

I noticed that the new button chops off the top portion. πŸ™ I’ll stick with the old one for now. PicMonkey is fun, I like it.

    Have a good week!

You can use whatever button you want. I made it square, so yes I cut off some of the top. Glad you are geared up for Ho-Ho-Ho πŸ™‚

  2. Deborah

I love the coffee meme. I don’t drink tea or coffee but am (was) a diet coke addict. I gave up nearly 2wks ago and I WAS doing ok but am sick now so all I want is diet coke!

Well done on the steps by the way!

I need to do a bit of blog maintenance myself. I try to check my buttons and such to make sure they work every couple of months, but I’ve gotten sidetracked lately. I can relate to that last picture now more than ever. I’ve had very little in the way of caffeine for the past month. I’ll occasionally drink a sweet tea, and of course eat a bit of chocolate…but as far as coffee and soda, I’ve avoided it. And jsut being around a soda will make me down an entire bottle of water because I get so thirsty, lol. I’m having a tough time not being moody (or more so) in the mornings.

I hope you have an awesome week!

My mom was a morning cola drinker, I never saw the appeal..but take my coffee and I will have to kill you πŸ™‚ My buttons worked fine, but were too small, so that tumblr, Google+ and other sites would pick up my weekly meme image instead. So I am fixing all of my feature headers.

  4. Greg

A Curious beginning seems to be getting some good reviews. And I liked both those posts you linked to- both were awesome. Glad you had a good reading week- keep the coffee flowing and happy reading! πŸ™‚

Frick a frack… I can’t do anything on my iPad! Grrrrrr….. I had to get out of bed, turn the computer on… you don’t want to hear this. Anyhoo… Ho, Ho… I need some Ho, Ho books!! I need to start looking!!! Yikes!!

    Off to bed… zzzzzzz

Hey! I bought that bundle and I went through you link so hopefully, even though I’m an affiliate, too, you get credit for the sale since I totally missed the post about the bundle and wouldn’t have known about it without your little advertisement!!

Okay, off to organize my week so I actually VISIT your blog this week *sigh*

  6. Elizabeth the Evil Overlord

I know the images have to be a certain shape and proportion, but do they need to be huge? I’ve been working on re-proportioning (which the iPad says isn’t a word) but I hate having to scroll through these enormous vertical images that everyone seems to be using. So what was happening was Google+ and others were ignoring your top image and going for something that was squarer within the post? I set the UBB Featured Image for every post, even if it’s not a book review so that the “Related Posts” and home page show the image I want, and so far that’s the image featured on Google+, FB, and Twitter. I don’t have tumblr and I’ve actually disconnected from G+ to let it die a slow death as that’s what it seems Google is heading towards anyway. Do you have the 411 on this image business? Maybe you could do a post on what the different media sites are looking for.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yes, if they aren’t so many pixels it picks other images up. My feature image handles Facebook etc, but when you set up posts for automatic posting to Google, Tumblr etc they don’t recognize any image unless it is a certain size. Sadly larger images are the new trend, as I am seeing them everywhere. I will try and research the specific specs and do a post.

  7. Lexxie

I can’t believe we’re just on the verge of fall already, Kim. I am kind of ready for some cooler weather it’s back up to about 90 here again, and it’s really humid too.
I just had my morning coffee, it is the best thing ever – each and every day πŸ˜‰
You did really well on your ARC August challenge, way to go!
I hope you’ll enjoy your new books as well, and that September will be an amazing month for you πŸ™‚

    • kimbacaffeinate

Our weather has been unusually cool and really feels like Fall which is only making me crave it more. Yep, morning coffee is the best πŸ™‚ Thanks Lexxie!

  8. Trish

I’m not great at images but PicMonkey is the one I always use, I think it’s pretty user friendly. Of course I always want the Royale features but I make it work without them as I don’t use it enough to pay a subscription. Have a great week Kim! Well done on your ACR challenge, looks you aced it πŸ™‚

  9. Wattle

Snowbound at Christmas looks good, just seeing the cover really made me crave a holiday story (I never read them during the season lol)

Seeing that list of ARC’s all read must feel so satisfying, sounds like you’ve had a busy reading month! I can’t believe it’s almost September already, it feels like it was only January yesterday.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I agree and it seems the older I get the faster time flies. I will read these during the Ho-Ho-Ho read-a-thon in November. Before blogging I use to read them between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Although, I have friends who read them in July.

  10. Lover Of Romance

I can’t believe August is almost over….and that fall is almost here, I sure am going to miss the summer!! Normally I would never say that since its usually is super hot, but this summer its been nice comfortable weather with plenty of rain. I do love coffee, but I tend to drink more tea now adays. Looks like you have had a fantastic month and its always fun to see what we can do with reading challenges right? Hope you have had a great weekend!!

    • kimbacaffeinate

This August our weather has been cool and almost Fall like, It kind of makes me nervous, could mean we are in for a colder winter. Enjoy your tea πŸ™‚

  11. A Voracious Reader

Our mornings have been cooler and Fall-like. We’re still getting up into the upper 80s during the day though. I’m impatiently waiting for lower 80s or even upper 70s so I can finally turn off the A/C and open the windows for days at a time. I have no idea what picMonkey is, but I want to play too. πŸ˜€ Have a great week!

So hard to believe September is nearly here! We had beautiful weather this week, but now the humidity is back and next week it will be around 90. And no rain for awhile so the grass is brown. I’m ready for cooler weather…lol. Yay for your walking. That’s so good.

I love the Sunday Post button update. Noticed it right away. Your decision to do that, why and what you did would make a great “Blogger Tips and Tricks” post, Kimba! Hint, hint! Have a great week.

Ha, it would Jan but it still didn’t work. Google+ doesn’t play nice, so I am still researching how to get them to take the right image. Sadly SEO YOAST works great for Twitter and Facebook, as does Jetpack but neither handle Google+ and it looks like they want a 800 x 1200 pixel..um no. Will post when I figure it all out. The new trend seems to be these big square images at the top..so at least I am trendy *facepalm*

  13. Yvonne

Snowbound at Christmas looks good. I always love reading books with a holiday theme and I noticed NetGalley has many of them out now. But, I’m trying to be good and staying away from NetGalley. That’s not exactly working out too well. LOL Have a great week.

    • kimbacaffeinate

LOL, yes and most publish in September and October. If it weren’t for the Ho-Ho-Ho read a thon I would avoiding NG too. Although these babies were sent in an email with widgets..tempting me!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Right. I asked a question on Ashley’s blog and how she was going to handle it. I do not want the ones that appear every dang time you visit a blog. I want one you click once and it remembers.

    • kimbacaffeinate

No, but Ashley posted about it and I am having such a hard time finding that article on her new blog design. I think she added a code and it went and updated all of them.

  14. Teddyree

I needed a coffee infusion the last few weeks πŸ˜‰ … hoping to catch up on some of your reviews, hate to miss something awesome lol. Way to go on the steps too, I have no idea where the month went but I’m in again for September. Happy reading πŸ™‚

I can’t believe August is about over. Crazy! Time is flying by way to fast. Have a nice weekend. πŸ™‚

  16. Stormi

I can’t wait to see your reviews of A Curious Beginning and The Drafter since I have both of those to read soon. I have so many books to review I am having a hard time trying to decide which one to pick up I have overloaded myself! I need to learn to speed read. πŸ™‚

I thought your TSP pic looked different so I am glad it wasn’t just my eyes playing tricks on me…..lol. πŸ™‚

Love that gif. LOL I used to be hopeless without my coffee first thing. Now, it’s hot tea. I changed the banner in my post to your new one. I need to get me a blog button of some kind. Just don’t know what or how. LOL I see you have a Christmas book. I’m starting to get some together. It’ll be here before ya know it.
    Have a lovely Sunday!

  18. Lisa

Great job on ARC August Challenge! I had so much fun with it myself. πŸ™‚ So I’m not really sure what you mean about the pic sizes, but I’m definitely interested so I’ll be watching for a post from you about it. πŸ™‚

    • kimbacaffeinate

Turns out pic size for Google+ has to be 800Γ—1200 which is so not happening. I am in the process of researching code. I will do a post when I resolve it. Sadly SEO Yost and Jetpack are great at adding meta data for Twitter and Facebook but not Google or Tumblr.

  19. Kathy

August flew by so fast! I can’t wait for the Ho-Ho-Ho Read-a-thon but I better start looking for books. Its fun to get in the holiday spirit! You are doing great with your steps and I hope you have a nice week!

Thanks, and it is fun searching out new holiday reads. I need to sit down and go through my kindle and nook since I know I bought ones during the event last year when visiting other blogs.

  20. Tanya

Once I get playing with those images, I will completely forget about posts. I get sucked in and play forever! All of the social media sites with their image requirements bugs the hell out of me though. It’s hard to keep up!

  21. Christina T

I liked A Curious Beginning. I still prefer the Lady Julia series but I thought this was a good start to a new series.

I’m not ready to think about Christmas (or snow) yet though I’ve already read a Christmas romance for review. Not sure why publishers tend to release Christmas themed books in September and October.

  22. Katherine

Oh I am definitely a two year old whose blankie is in the wash without my coffee. In fact I could probably use a 2nd cup just to be sure I’m fully out of the terrible twos. You did a fabulous job with the ARC challenge! That’s some impressive reading! I’m really looking forward to your review of the Deanna Raybourn. So far every book I’ve read from her I absolutely love.

  23. Charlie

Look at you go for ARC August! That’s amazing! I need to start being more efficient with my time so I can be reading more. What’s your secret? πŸ™‚

    • kimbacaffeinate

Right, I had to get use to that when I began blogging. I would purchase them in November and begin reading after Thanksgiving…but they all release at the end of September!!!

  24. Kristin T.

I’m a tea drinker here, but definitely can relate. I get headaches if I don’t have my tea in the morning. Oh, the things we do for that caffeine πŸ™‚ It’s been a while since I participated – the month just got away from me, but I’m back and eager to get back on track with both my blog and my fitness – last week was just awful, but I was down at my mom’s helping her out after her surgery, so not much walking around for either of us!

    Have a great week!

I know how easy it is to start messing around with one thing and end up fixing/changing a whole bunch more! Sorry I’ve been a stranger for a few weeks – vacation time was a lot busier than I anticipated. But I’m home and settling back into my routines. Looking forward to your review of A Curious Beginning – I have the ARC but still need to read it. (Vacation threw my reading schedule out the window, too. Oh, well!)

  26. Heidi

I am always sad to say goodbye to summer, but on the other hand, it has been so hot and dry here. We woke up to pouring rain and we were all so happy to see it. Hoping it will help the wildfire situation. I am glad I didn’t sign up for any challenges or commitments in August since I only read ten books thanks to company and my trip. Here is to a more books and cooler weather in September as well as the start of school.

Oh I like the banner, might have to grab this one and update it on my post as well. When I share my posts on facebook they always grab my blog button as it’s sqaure and the others aren’t, but I like my post banners so I don’t think I’ll change those.
I am looking forward to some cooler weather and autumn as this summer wasn’t really a good one. I hope you’ll have a good week and enjoy your books!

UBB and SEO do a great job with Facebook and Twitter, but Google+ is going to make me nuts, the bigger button did not work it needs to be 800×1200 which is so not happening. I am working on a metadata fix…maybe. LOL

    • kimbacaffeinate

Our weather will be mixed back of nuts from September to Thanksgiving. Some years we get warm days throughout, and I have not needed heat or air. Other years it snows before Halloween.

  28. Karen Blue

I love the new button, I noticed it right away. (i mean i liked the old button, and the new one isn’t that different, but i like the font better) I had been goofing around with graphics for my header this week as well. I haven’t changed anything though. I am really looking forward to the read-a-thon.

Glad you were able to ride again Terri and the weather has been wonderful, although we are moving back into the 90’s this week.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I know what you mean, but we need to allow folks to schedule for the thon and find books, plus all of the holiday books are on NetGalley now.

  29. La La in the Library

I will be on the lookout for your review of The Night Sister. Yes fall is upon us, I just wish the season lasted longer. Have you started thinking about Halloween costumes for Sophia yet? Have a wonderful week.

Speaking of coffee… I feel like a liar every week when I check the “Confirm you are Caffeinated” option. I’ve had to lay off of caffeine on orders of the doctor. Ho, Ho, Ho Read-a-thon? I can’t begin to think about November yet!

I feel bad, think of Caffeinated as follow and keeping up to date with my blog. Each week I always say Stay Caffeinated and its really a play on words because it could mean the drug caffeine or the blog Caffeinated. πŸ™‚

  31. Tyler H Jolley

Looks great! I also hope you and your grand baby are doing better, I think you were both sick last week? Or maybe the week before, as I get older my weeks seem to runt together.

  32. Sue G.

I cannot believe how many books you read in one month…are you a speed reader?

  33. Lorna

So I have wondered-is your name Kimba or Kim? I have seen you called both. Just curious. Hope you have a good reading week!

    • kimbacaffeinate

It is Kimberly. When I was little my father called me Kimba, after Kimba the White Lion because of my blonde hair. When I first started my blog I was using Kimba on Goodreads and named by blog Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Since then I have dropped the Kimba but folks who have been with me since the beginning still call me that.
