Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

This week was a rough one, the little princess had ear infections and roseola. Since I am such a sweet Nonna I took night shifts because my daughter and her husband work full-time. I am happy to report she is happy and well. It rained for the first half of the week, with thunderstorms which I love. We were rewarded with the rest of the week being in the 70’s and 80’s. It was heaven and has me craving pumpkins Fall. I read the Drafter by Kim Harrison this week and it was fantastic and very different from the Hollows. If you are planning to read it then I recommend you read the novella Sideswiped first. (.99 cents on Amazon) I think those who don’t will feel a little lost. Hope your week is a good one and as always stay caffeinated!

Poor little one! I’m very lucky that none of mine ever suffered from ear infections but I’ve had plenty of friends who weren’t as lucky and I know no fun is had by anyone. I’m glad to hear she’s feeling better and hopefully you’re getting some rest now! You are killing it on the ARC challenge! Great job! I have finally had to admit that while I love the idea of them for now I don’t have the attention span to fully participate in challenges. Have a great week!

It was mild and it cleared up quickly, in fact the doctor reduced her meds from 10 to 7 days. I need to kill that arc challenge. I only have about 2 1/2 weeks of advanced posts LOL

  2. Kristin

You are such an awesome mama! To recognize how much your daughter and her hubs would appreciate the help Sophia! Man, to have family around to help… priceless!!

I can’t believe I’m still up at this hour… zzz… You got a so many good books this week!!! And thanks for advertising Ashley’s bundle! I’m saving up for it and I’ll use you as an affiliate when I buy it 😉 I’m no dummy!!!

    • kimbacaffeinate

I didn’t have to work so I feel for them, too many sleep deprived parents in the world. I am up because my hubby is working on an IT update here I am.
I use all of UBB items in that bundle and louver them!! Awe, thanks it supports my habits!

  3. Greg

Glad she’s feeling better, that can be tough. Nonna to the rescue! I love thunderstorms in the summer, and the sound of rain on the roof. And fall too… I hear ya, was in the mall today and saw all the fall stuff. 🙂

Way to go on the ARC August books!! I’m never a fan of rain, even when it’s too hot. I have a serious thing against water, unless it’s hot water….then maybe. I want fall to be here, but only so it can get a bit cooler and the humidity can die down. I have this weird phobia of having wet leaves stuck to my shoes *shudders* and that’s what Fall represents to me, lol!

I’m glad the little princess it doing better! I hope you have a lovely week with tons of reading and rest!

I would go out and do a rain dance but the neighbors complained about the chanting and naked dancing. The challenge is going good I just need to kick-ass this week 🙂

Poor Sophia, ear infection is painful, I’m glad she’s feeling better ! And your daughter and your hubby must have appreciated the gesture 😉 But I hope you were able to rest ? Congrats on the 5000 steps per day and I can *so* relate to that picture about the to-read list ! Have a great weekend (autumn is coming !)

  6. Ramona

Glad that Sophia is feeling okay! Now it’s just about you recovering some of those sleepless nights 🙂 You know, I just read a very complimentary review of Sideswept – I’m very curious now. Happy Sunday 🙂

It always made me so sad when my little ones were sick because they really don’t understand, look so miserable, and give you that look like you’re their everything and can’t you make it better?!!! What a great grandma you are!

I love thunderstorms too and the cooler weather they bring – at least as long as there is some good rain. 🙂 I’m going to have to check out your review of Her Lucky Cowboy since I have a thing for cowboys. 😉 And I love using PicMonkey! I can do all that stuff in my art program, but some things are just easier and one step instead of several there.

I hope you have a fabulous week!

  8. Lexxie

Your daughter is so lucky you were able to take the night shift with Sophia, Kim! I’m glad she’s doing better. Ear infections are so painful.
I loved The Drafter, too, I’m so happy Harrison was able to create a new and completely different universe for us all 🙂
We haven’t had any thunderstorms, but the weather has still cooled down, and it’s nice to not feel suffocated by the heat anymore.
Have a fantastic week and happy reading 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

Just curious did you read Drafter with or without reading Sideswiped? I am curious to see if anyone felt lost a little without reading Sideswiped.

      • Lexxie

I did read The Drafter first, without reading Sideswiped, and I still really enjoyed it! I think maybe the mystery was even more mysterious, since I didn’t know who those other characters were… I have read Sideswiped now, too, though, and I also recommend other readers to read that one first, it might still enhance their enjoyment.

No! I’m by no means ready for fall! Luckily the weather got a whole lot better during the weekend, so it does seem like it’ll be a while. 😉

Poor baby, I’m glad she is feeling better and I bet midnight cuddles from Nonna helped loads 🙂 And I see your Christmas books are making an appearance now, I need to start making a list of the ones I want to read for HoHoHo, I find it great for getting in the festive mood.

  11. sherry fundin

I have been seeing Kim Harrison’s name bandied about . I have a book or two of hers and have read more from the library. I will be checking those out. We have had a lot of rain here, but it’s Florida, so I just got about my business and come on in when the thunder rumbles and the lightning strikes.

I am sorry to hear about Sophia having an ear infection, it sounds painfull! That’s nice of you to take the night shifts and help your daughter out. I am glad to hear she’s feeling well now! Have a great week and enjoy your enw books!

Such good news that the munchkin is healthy again. Ear problems are the worst. We have been having “fallish” weather, too, and I am longing for autumn. I just wish the season lasted longer. You can do folders in Bloglovin’? I am certainly checking that post out. It is coming up on my second blogversary and I am thinking about self hosting so I can get some cool add-ons. I really love the one you and Cait have for getting an email notice for just your personal comment reply. I hate clicking the general notice button because for blogs that get a lot of comments, my inbox gets flooded! Times that by about ten and, yowser! I really want to read The Accident Season. I requested it on Netgalley, but have not heard anything. You are jammin on those ARC August challenge reads. Good grief! Ha ha. Have a wonderful week and give the munchkin a hug. 🙂

You are a great Nonna for helping take care of Sophia! I remember those sleepless nights but my parents lived too far to help. It is good to hear that she is feeling better.

You did great with the ARC challenge. I love Tessa Dare so I can’t wait to read her new book. I also liked Sideswiped and can’t wait for our Sept delivery of the next book!!

    Have a great week Kim!

Both of my kids had a thing with roseola, every time they got a fever or a cold it ended in roseola. It looks worse than it is, bothered me more than them 🙂

I love a good Thunderstorm, we haven’t had a good one in a long time.

I am longing for PUMPKIN EVERYTHING Season 🙂

Have a great week, Kim! Happy Reading! ox

Mine never had it. We took her to the doctor on Monday and she had ear infections and received antibiotics. On Thursday her fever broke and she had the rash. We worried it could be from antibiotic so kids took her to Doc..Ears were better but discovered it was roseola. Pumpkin coffee and thunderstorms..oh yeah!

  19. Steph

Wow you are doing great on your ARC August challenge!! congrats! I am participating too but not doing nearly as well. The rain will get to us this week and I am SO looking forward to the cooler weather (and pumpkins/ fall!!!!) 🙂

  21. Elsi

I’d take some of that rain. It’s been 40+ days in my part of Texas since we’ve had rain. I don’t want to see it come back like the Spring floods, but a little bit every once in a while would be appreciated.

You’ve piqued my curiosity with the new Kim Harrison series. 99 cents for a novella is an excellent price, so I’m off to buy that from Amazon! Glad to hear that the princess is recovered.

  22. Sonnie

Oh my gosh, yes. For every book I add ten more will be added! It’s sad because I know I’ll never be able to get to every single one of them haha. And I love the idea of #FitReaders!

It is a blessing to help our kids out. I may be on duty this week as my grandson seems to be coming down with something. My daily steps have been interrupted by jet lag. I hope this week will be better! Enjoy whatever you choose to read this week.

Thanks Martha, reading to the little ones is such a wonderful routine for bedtime. I hope you try Harrison’s new series I loved the Drafter.

I loveee thunderstorms too so I AM JEALOUS.

I am glad to hear that the little princess is better now! It was so nice of you to take care of her while her parents got some rest!

Also, I am very curious about Chapelwood so I’ll keep an eye out for your review! 🙂

Have a great week, Kim! 🙂

  26. Erin

I love Kim Harrison! I can’t wait to read her new book. 🙂 Thanks for the tip about Sideswiped, I have already clicked over and bought it! 🙂 I am getting in the mood for fall too – I am hoping for a cool one. Today’s weather is actually my favorite – breezy, warm but not too hot, only in the low 70s upper 60s. 🙂

  27. Bookworm Brandee

Gah! I’m so envious you’ve read The Drafter. But I’m also very happy to know it was fantastic. 🙂 I’m glad your little princess is feeling better. It’s terrible when they’re feeling badly and soothing them is so hard. We enjoyed a week of cooler, wet weather and I, too, am feeling anxious for pumpkins…and fall! 😉

  28. Heidi

Hopefully your grandaughter is on the mend. I started the Drafter the other day, but now I am going to get the novella. I am finally getting back to the blog after almost three weeks. It has been crazy busy, and I am finding I am having a hard time settling back in today.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yes, totally read Sideswiped first. I am sure you will get back into things. I have had 2 DNF’s and am hoping it isn’t some kind of funk. *fingers-crossed*

  29. Michelle

Great haul. So happy the little one is feeling better again, I work with babies and I know how hard it is when they are not themselves.

I can’t wait to get my hands on The Drafter, enjoy your books!! 🙂
