Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

The past week has been a miserable one. The night of the 4th a head cold went south and I ended up having difficulty breathing and developed a severe cough. Which led to chest x-rays  and lots of medications on Monday. By Weds my breathing improved, but I have little energy and my coughing fits at night have been relentless.  So much so that by Friday night I had broken all of the blood vessels in my left eye. It’s ugly peeps, I look freakin’ scary and my vocal cords have been damaged. I never know how my voice will sound.  Aside from watching Sophia, ( who bless her heart is so pleasant and agreeable for her poor Nonna) I did little else but sleep, listen to audios and read in short spurts. I have valiantly tried to comment and reply to those who have visited the blog and will continue to do so in little spurts, but I am not going to push myself. I am reading them and every comment is appreciated.

  • Crystal @Redheads Review it Better made the custom flame images for the UBB  Flame Ratings Plugin for me. I wanted the flames to match my blog (hello, I am anal) and the pre-fab ones Ashley made were not the matte finish I wanted. Crystal was a pleasure to work with, gave me exactly what I wanted and matched the color perfectly. She did so at a seriously reasonable price. She does all kinds of graphics so if you are in the market or need some cute personalized icons hit her up on the blog or on Twitter.

Oh I’m so sorry that you’ve been feeling bad. That relentless coughing is so irritating and absolutely draining though I’ve never had it to that extent. Hope you’re feeling better and get plenty of rest!

I hope you feel better soon Kimba! And I understand that picture…if I’m not tired, then I feel like crud. If I feel healthy then I’m dead tired. There is no break from it.
Here’s to a speedy recovery and I hope you enjoy your new reads!

Ugh, I’m so sorry you’re sick! That really sucks, especially in the summer. (I saw the red eye pic on FB — eek!) I’m sure Sophia’s sweet face cheers you up. 🙂 Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on “Swerve.” Take care!!!

OMG Kimba you poor thing! I am so sorry to hear about your terrible head cold and everything seemingly getting worse! I truly hope you are going to recover soon. Please don’t pressure yourself to return comments at the moment and rest!

OH MY GAWD FEEL BETTER!!!! Rest and don”t worry about us dunderheads getting comment replies. Have a healthier week! I will be back to peruse a couple of your posts that have caught my eye. 🙂

So sorry to hear you are sick. it seems to be going around. I hope you feel better soon! Thanks for hosting this meme for us rain or shine, in sickness and in health 🙂

  8. Trish

Oh, really hope you feel better soon! That is a cold from hell. I burst a blood vessel in my eye once and it looked awful! I’m really squeamish about eyes and I put on sunglasses to brush my teeth so I didn’t have to look at it as it was freaking me out! :O

Kim I couldn’t believe when I read your Sunday post for two reasons:-

    1. My whole household, Hubby, myself, Father-in-law and 4 month old son all had the flu! Son and Hubby got it the worse, and being a premmie 4 month, corrected age of only 2 months he was hospitalised for bronchitis. He got the same treatment as you, chest xrays and he’s being monitored and oxygen breathing 🙁

    2. When I gave birth to this lil fella 4 months ago I busted the blood vessels on both eyes and I literally looked like a devil, walking around the hospital to get coffee, Subway and takeaway cos I didn’t like the Maternity ward food LOL so I do feel your pain.

I had never heard of this happening to anyone and it took awhile for mine to go away, about a 4 days, and over a week for it to go away completely. I do hope you get better soon.

ARGGGG, matey! Put a patch over that eye 🙂 Or just act stoned (weeeeeee!) I have one eye that loves to get all red in the corner from allergies and it’s disgusting so I know how you feel. Keep sleeping… don’t worry about visiting me!!! You need your health!!!

  11. Angela Adams

Hope your feeling better. Looking forward to what “Nonna” plans to post this week! Keep resting, consume lots of tea and soup, and relax with a book…

oh, I’m so sorry you’re so sick, Kimba. Coughing and coughing is so frustrating and it hurts. I hope you feel better soon. Take care of yourself and don’t worry about commenting–people will understand.

I hope this week is better than the last and that you feel like reading and listening to books.

Brace yourself, my {{{posivibes}}} are coming. I don’t want them to knock you over. I hope you’re feeling better and soon. Relentless coughing is the worst. Thank goodness for Princess Sophia making this trying time less miserable.

Oh my. Summer cold. I do hope you feel better! It’s terrible to be sick. Take care.

  16. Elsi

Ugh! Colds are awful, and summer colds seem so unfair. You expect them in the winter, but not in July. And the coughing is a horrible part of it. I hope you get better very soon.

I feel you. I went through the same thing 3 WEEKS ago and guess what… it’s still lingering! My eyes went out too, my throat got gravelly (I just channeled Demi Moore to delude myself that iit’s sexy but we know it’s really not). My only consolation is I lost some weight, lol. Gotta stay positive!

Feel better, lady. For your voice, are you familiar with ginger tea? You boil fresh ginger, lots of it, then drink it. It should help soothe your throat and make it less itchy. Don’t add sugar, you can add lemon though.

  21. Deborah Camp

Sorry to hear of your illness. Sounds like very nasty stuff! You’re a trouper, though. I think if I went through what you went through I’d be curled up in a ball and NOT reading. Although, I might listen to audio books. I do love those! Feel better soon, Kim! And that’s an order. 🙂

  22. Mariana

I had a horrible flu this week and to make things better PMS with headache. Hope you get better and get lots of sunny days to help your health. XO

My mom got that same bug! A group of really sick people did not cancel their fishing charter that my mom and her friends hosted. They were so sick they had to cancel a group from church that wanted to go fishing. The sickos did not catch any fish, the fish were afraid of them. LOL. I hope you are feeling better quickly.

Sorry you aren’t feeling well. I hope you get better quickly. The only good thing about being sick is downtime to read. One of my book club friends from church has had a lot of breathing difficulties this year. They recently told her to remove her cats and that has helped already.
I appreciate your flame ratings. That is a good idea. They look good too. 🙂

  25. Karen Blue

I was so excited about your thoughts on Ink and Bone, I went out and bought it for myself this week. I have no idea when I will get to read it. I loved your review of The Shore as well. I am so sorry to hear you are so sick. Please don’t reply to this comment, save your energy. I hope you feel better soon.

Kim, I’m so sorry you’ve been sick. Coughing to the point of breaking blood vessels is serious. I’m glad to hear you’ve been to the doctor. Sending good vibes your way.

  27. Lorna

Uh oh, that doesn’t sound good at all! So sorry you have been having breathing difficulties and coughing so much. I had been having breathing problems since my surgery a few weeks ago(better now), so I can relate. Hope you are feeling better! At least watching Sophia gives you a bit of relief!
