Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

This week ended up being milder than expected but oh so muggy. I cannot believe June is almost over. Time really does fly. This week brought a lot of audiobooks to my door, but with the weather being warm this is a welcome thing. I upgraded my blog with the new Ultimate Book Blogger Plugin this weekend and cannot wait to bring back my Coffee Pot Reviews. Do you remember those? If you have I cannot recommend UBBv3 enough. It makes posting a snap and handles all the back-end tasks like my archives and more. A few bumps and some minor tweaking but for the most part it went smoothly. Hope you discover a top ten 2015 read this week! Stay Caffeinated and uplift fellow bloggers when you visit this week by sharing their posts.

I’m glad the weather was milder than you expected, I hope it continues. I remember your Coffee Pot reviews, it’ll be nice to see them back again. Stay cool and happy reading!

I can’t believe how time is flying either. Crazy. Our temps have been mild so far, but going into July I know it will heat up.

Love the quote! No doubt… 🙂

This summer has been going by so fast! We’ve been having such a good time I think I’ll be a bit sad when school starts back though I’ll get way more productive. We’ve had some crazy hot temps here but we’ve spent the whole week in the pool so it hasn’t bothered us! Have a great week!

hehe. My husband sometimes brings me home bite size chocolate from the office and he is amused that I can immediately sense it. It doesn’t quite believe it speaks to me

  4. Cynthia

Is it crazy that there is less than six months until Christmas?? Insane!! And your daughter is so evil for bringing chocolate in the house. Chocolate speaks to me on a daily basis. It happens.

Seriously right? Someone posted on Facebook how many paychecks till Christmas and it freaked me out so bad I blocked it from my memory! Yes, my daughter is evil she knows I can hear it whispering..hehe

  5. kara-karina

Nice stack of audio books, K. They are one thing that save me when I work outside 🙂 chocolate is GOOD for you just like coffee, so tell yourself it’s medicinal when you eat it 🙂 hugs, have a lovely week, sweetheart!

Coffee is my life I have neglected you. I am sorry. I cannot comment from my phone without messing up your site and with the babe I am so busy of late. My apologies. I love audiobooks for listening when I need to be hands free.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Deborah it takes me less then 5 mins to prep a post and I spend no time with archives etc anymore. Totally worth the 35.00 and her support is off the chart.

  6. Red Iza

Chocolate is so nasty, LOL ! And your pic about remembering old stuff but forgetting why go to the kitchen ? I totally get it, believe me… Well, enjoy your new audios in the coolness of your home, have fun and see you in August – hugs :-*

Ugh I want cooler weather…but only slightly. It’s been in the 80s with super high humidity, and lots of random thunderstorms that are really powerful for the length of time they last. I totally grabbed some of the audible sale books as well. Though I’m not sure if I’m done…I’m hoping the sale ends before I make my way back to the site. I hope you have an awesome week!

I can handle the heat but humidity sucks. The audible sale was good. I only snagged one but it was on my win!

  8. Grace

I still need to upgrade my UBB plugin. I need to find time without the kids and such so I can focus (which is hard to come by lol). I can’t believe it is almost July! Hope you have a wonderful week!

It was surprisingly easy. I had a few minor bumps but Ashley is super responsive. I did it on Saturday because I didn’t have a post scheduled.

  9. Lexxie

Sounds like you had a good week, Kim!
I haven’t upgraded to UBBv3 yet, because I have some things added to mine, and I’m afraid my archives will be all wonky before Ashley has time to upgrade that for me as well… I do look forward to being able to have more than one review in a single post, though… especially for DNFs or for short-stories and novellas!
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I had one or two mods but was able to fix those myself. My archive load time doubled with the new UBBv3. She said my archive is too large but I had no issues with the old version.

  10. Trish

I upgraded my UBB last week and I’m so excited about the multi-book feature. I immediately schedudled some twitteresque reviews! And yes I’m looking forward to the return of coffeepot reviews, I remember them well *spot the old time follower* 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

Oh she was mean Steph it was a big bag of mixed chocolates and some had caramel. The damn bag was filled with little voices shouting, “pick me, pick me!”

  11. Elizabeth

I upgraded to UBB v3 and added some other plug-ins this weekend too. I don’t think I utilize UBB to its full potential. Do you fill out the info and just let the plug-in lay out the whole page, or do you tweak it yourself? Guess we know what I’ll be playing with later.

I fill out all the book info since that it was populates the top portion of my reviews and handles the archives etc. I do not use the pull book info from Goodreads/Google . If you find you need help, shoot me an email I would be happy to help

  12. Lover Of Romance

I am so glad you mentioned the UBB plugin. I just started using it and I am in the process of doing it for my reviews, its painful right now, but once I am done it will make things so much easier, and reviews don’t take so long now. Definitely worth every penny, and its perfect for book bloggers. Although I wish it had been around when I started blogging. And its crazy that June is almost over, this past month has gone by so fast!!

The upgraded version populates the info in older pre-UBB posts automatically. Under tools I think. Totally agree it is worth the price.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I went back and messed with one or two of my coffee pot reviews and it works wonderfully. I will have one in July for audios in a series I am listening too.

  13. Angela Adams

I’m looking forward to your Robyn Carr review. I really miss the “Virgin River” series, and whenever I see one of her latest books, I wonder what’s going on over at Jack’s Bar. Have a great week!!

You need to beat your daughter silly! She should have brought TWO bags!!! Actually, I keep a little bag of dark chocolate covered pretzels in my cupboard for my sweet tooth but I manage not to binge b/c it’s so rich.

Hey! I actually shared a fellow blogger’s post on my Sunday Post! I heard you 😉

    Glad you got UBB working!!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Oh no this was a huge bag of mixed chocolate goodness some had nuts others caramel in dark and milk was bad. OMG I love chocolate covered pretzels and yogurt covered ones..salty and sweet baby!

  15. Jan

It was very humid here, too. And we had quite a bit of rain. Good to stay inside with a book! You had a lot of variety in your reviews last week, Kimba. It’s great you read and enjoy such a variety of things. Have a great week. (I can’t believe it’s almost July either.)

I have the update for UBB but I am so scared to try it..afraid I will screw something I also got the update for my reading challenges..I will try it this week and crossing my fingers it all goes great. I am really curious to see the new changes. 🙂 You have some great reviews coming up this week so I can’t wait! 🙂

    Happy reading!

Muggy – not my favorite! The weather was lovely and cool up by the upper Great Lakes. I’m happy to be home, but not happy to be back to Virginia’s humidity. At least it’s not too hot today, but it will be 90 by Tuesday.

Looking forward to your reviews of Robyn Carr’s latest and the Tracy Ann Warren book! And thanks for the link to sign up for Avon Addicts. Sounds like fun!

  18. Holly

Why is it, I can go for a week without being tempted to eat unhealthy when I’m not really focusing on it or forcing myself to stay away from it, maybe just don’t want any, but the moment I tell myself “no more unhealthy food” on purpose for any specified period of time, oh THEN every piece of sugary carb goodness calls to me!

Hope you enjoy your new books!

It’s muggy here too! You step outside and it’s like trying to breathe water. But at least some storms yesterday cooled it off some!

I upgraded to UBBv3 this week too and I’m loving it! I can’t wait to try the multiple books feature this week. I do a lot of series binge reading so this feature will come in handy. In th past I’ve done three posts in one day but I’m going to like putting them all in one 🙂

Hope you have a great week!

PS Chocolate talks to me too! In fact the brownies I made last night are calling me now 😉

    • kimbacaffeinate

I use to do coffee pot reviews (mini reviews) and used them for novellas, books in series etc but stopped when I began using I am thrilled too. For some reasons brownies give me heartburn. I have no idea why as other chocolate snacks don’t bother me

  20. Melissa (My words and pages)

Ugh. We are rainy and muggy here. We actually dropped in temperature yesterday and today too! It’s crazy, crazy weather here. I think mother nature is going a bit… *whisper* senile. lol Have a great week!

  21. Lola

I still haven’t tried the UBB plugin, but I hear great things about it. The thing is I don’t mind coding my posts from scratch and I atcually like it, I know I am weird. The weather was okay here this week, but today it’s really warm :(.
Murder in my Shop looks like a cute and fun murder mystery! I hope you have a great week and enjoy your new books!

You are lucky with the weather. Here it has been just hot and is supposed to get hotter this week. I need to upgrade to UBBv3 soon. I love Ashley! She makes blogging so much easier for me (since I am technically challenged lol).

I’m hooked on audio books and for now I’m borrowing them from the library. I hope you have a great week and enjoy all the new books you received.

Ahh…chocolate…I love chocolate, especially dark chocolate and always have some in the house. I like to have a little piece after lunch or dinner. I have those Dove chocolate promises – a piece or two seems to satisfy me! I took advantage of the Audible sale, too – some good ones this time around!!! Hope you have a great week!

  24. Mandy

Being here in California where we have a dry heat I’m not familiar with the muggy heat but from what I’ve heard I’ll keep my dry drought heat. I’m glad you had such a productive week. I wish I could get more into audio books for some reason it’s just not the same for me. Looks like you received a variety of interesting books this week. I’m only familiar with one of them but the others look interesting. I’m not familiar with any of the books you read this week. Gosh I seem to be saying that a lot. lol. Have a great new week I hope it’s less muggy =D Thanks for hosting this lovely weekly.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Maybe you will find a new read/author this week. I never liked audios until recently and admittedly it took me a bit to get the hang of it..and some genres I hate on audio.

  25. A Voracious Reader

We’ve been lava hot all week except for yesterday and today. The rains brought cooler weather, at least for a little while. The relief is great! 🙂 And chocolate always says to me: What are you waiting for? The apocalypse? You have time to go buy more.

  26. kindlemom1

I love the totally random because it is so true!

It is suppose to 109 here today and it was 106 yesterday, YUCK! I hope you stay cool and have a lovely 4th of July Holiday Kim!! I won’t be around much but I’ll try to visit when I am. 😉

We had an ugly hot, muggy week until yesterday when the weather finally broke and gave us milder temps.
I’m not tech savvy enough to appreciate the joy of this new plug in, but I’m glad it makes life easier for you. I wasn’t here long enough for your coffeepot reviews so I can’t wait to see what that is all about.

    Nice book haul!

I blog out about 2-4 weeks so my posts are scheduled already threw mid-July. It use to be more but my daughter had a baby who I watch during the day and it has kind of changed my life..all good though!

  28. Ro

LOL! Yep, you are so right. Chocolate definitely calls out to you when you least expect it, and is why I’ve been trying to lift weights more than normal these days. Weather here has been hot, so I know the farmers really appreciate the rainy days we’ve been having. Like Lili, I think it’s great when you can have a plan for reading and actually stick to it. Organization definitely makes a difference. Hope your week is as wonderful as you are! Hugs…Ro

  29. Karen Blue

I updated it right away, like as soon as I got the email it was available in a beta version. I agree that it makes things easier. I love that I can now post multiple books in one post that will to into UBB formatting. I can’t wait to read your review for White Trash Zombie. Happy reading (and listening)!

Lol. I do know about sweets that speak to you – the wicked sirens calling! Hubs was in Turkey recently and brought back four boxes of flavoured Turkish delight, three of which I munched on this week even though I said I wouldn’t touch them :\ Anyway… I didn’t know about that plugin, but it sounds fun and practical. I’ll check it out 🙂 Looking forward to your reviews of the new titles!!!

  31. Lory

Just updated my UBB settings, and I’m also so excited to try out the multiple books feature. That was something I asked about when I switched to WordPress a month ago, and Ashley said it was coming. And I just love the automatically updating review indexes. So happy not to have to manually construct those any more.

I am sorry your weather is so muggy. Ours is cooler right now due to a bunch of rain, but I haven’t been outside since Thursday, when I got out of the hospital- an overnight stay for a surgical procedure, but it’s knocked me on my butt so I haven’t gotten to enjoy any of the cool weather. Really behind on my blog visits, reading and reviewing as well. Hope you have a good week!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Oh I hope you are beginning to feel better and are ok. Did you at least get to read? I know when I am under the weather if I can at least read it is bearable.

      • Lorna

Haven’t gotten to read near as much as usual, but some. In the beginning almost non-stop sleeping, but better now thanks 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

I agree. Although my blog is so large that I would like to be able to break my archives up a bit author A through H etc
