Sunday Post

Our vacation was a blast and now I need a vacation to recover from my vacation! Isn’t that always the way. We had a lovely time in NOLA from the graveyards to the haunted tour and oh the food was to die for! I had a blast at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Funny story- When we get to Universal Studios to buy our tickets my husband mentions we are there for Harry Potter and the man proceeds to tell us only Diagon Alley is in US and we will need a hopper-pass to Islands of Adventure. So my husband turns to me and says, ” We don’t need to see all of it do we? I don’t have to buy 2 park passes?” I say nothing but give him these big sorrowful eyes. He says, “JC give me passes to both parks.” (giggles). I had so much fun shopping, exploring, and casting spells. The Butterbeer was delicious and I found a recipe to make it at home. Look for a future Recipe & Rec on that. The rest of vacation was spent visiting family in FL and Nashville TN. It was the first time my siblings, parents and I had all been together since 2006. It was lovely and I miss them all. For all of you that stayed Caffeinated while I was away..Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Thanks Laurel, no vacation from vacation but I am moving slower!

  1. Katherine

I have that Llama Llama book basically memorized! We love that series of books! Glad you were able to see all of Harry Potter World even if it did involve another pass. That’s kind of rude of them! Glad you had such a nice vacation! It looks like you’ve got some great reviews coming up. All but the Andrews are new to me so I’m sure some will be added to my TBR. Have a great week!

  3. Michelle

I’m glad you had a great time Kimba! I kept up with your pictures on Facebook and Instagram, and it has me dying to get back down to Wizarding World and see the new stuff they have added.

All of the new stuff is in Island of Adventures, but to ride Hogwarts Express you need both passes..they get you..put I loved every minute of it

    • kimbacaffeinate

He does…I think he was initially annoyed, but has told everyone the story and laughed about his little girl..LOL

    • kimbacaffeinate

We did so much, but my hubby is a great navigator and broke up the driving so we drove all day spent at least 3 days and then drove again. It turned out lovely.

  4. Red Iza

2006 is a very long time, you must have been so happy to be together at last 🙂 Thanks for the pics and I’m waiting for the beer recipe ! We have a recipe here at home too, one that can be made without beer thus shared with the kids, but I haven’t tried it yet – I’ll share. You do have leadership skills, after all, you made your husband get all the passes ! Enjoy your weekend and have a nice rest from your vacation 😉

  5. Lexxie

I’m glad you had such a great time on vacation, Kim! I’m still chuckling after reading how you conned your husband into the two park passes… I guess he must have had a good time to, though, right?
So happy you got to spend some time with your parents and siblings after such a long time apart!
Your pictures are lovely, I wish I had done something like that slideshow for my own vacation pictures… alas, I didn’t even think of that.
Have a fantastic week ahead, and enjoy all your new books.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Me too Renee, although I am starting now. The weather is getting so we will be able to take the baby for walks.

  6. Pages and Tea

Glad you had such a lovely vacation. Harry Potter World looks amazing, I would love to visit someday, having been such a fan of the books and films over the years.
And New Orleans is another place I’d love to see, mostly after watching The Originals and American Horror Story Coven 😀

I wasn’t trying to manipulate him it was just that the little kid in me couldn’t rationalize the expense vs need…so I said it all with my eyes..bwahaha. My hubby swears to others he has never seen anything like it.

    • kimbacaffeinate

It was such fun Megan…lots of walking so bring comfy shoes!

    • kimbacaffeinate

The attention to detail, and little surprises along the way made this HP fan squeal with delight. I hope you visit.

  9. Lola

Wow it looks like you had an amazing time, all those pictures look awesome and visiting Harry Potter world must have been a blast! We ate some spaghetti with cajun spices this week and we got talking about New Orleans and now my sister wants to visit it as well, lol. • kimbacaffeinate

The weather was lovely for us as well. We had a perfect day for the family BBQ, although the pool temp was too cool for me to indulge..I drank instead..LOL

  10. Jessica

Glad your vacation was fun! I enjoyed seeing your pictures! A few made me reminiscent of my trip to NOLA last year. And yeah, there was a bit of envy of the Harry Potter World ones! LOL! Hoping to get there next year and hopefully to have a job before then so I can buy a ton of souvenirs! LOL!

Getting curious about An Ember in Ashes! Seeing it a lot and have read a good review or two already! So yes, I’m curious! LOL! Hope you enjoy your new reads!!

B sure and go to Ollivander’s there are places to get wands but they don’t have official box or interactive wands.

  15. Lark

Love the photos of your vacation! Now I want to go to the HP park(s) -though it stinks that you have to pay for two parks to go there. And your photos of NO are great, too!

Sounds, and looks (great photos) like a wonderful vacation! I hear you about the joy of getting family together at long last; I just returned from FL where my youngest daughter and I visited my eldest daughter, my son-in-law, and 3 grandkids, whom I hadn’t seen in 3 years. It’s the sad downside of families on the move 🙁

Anyway, keep enjoying that little bundle of joy, Nonna, and your great stack of books!

    • kimbacaffeinate

I just cannot get caught up, plus the kids moved in with the baby to save for a home and oh lord the chaos. I needs coffee and a quiet place to read.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I hope you get to see Hogwarts and Hogmeade..totally worth it Kay. Wahoo to HP for a honeymoon..that rocks!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Enjoy it when you do Lauren..i was like a kid again!

    • kimbacaffeinate

We use to live in Florida, so we have all been to all the parks before..but Harry Potter came later..it was a blast. I hope you get back there

    • kimbacaffeinate

I love Nashville too, we have been there before and did everything from hiking to white water rafting.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I wish I took more, but I got so caught up having fun I forgot..lol. Thanks Faye!

  17. Ramona

Welcome back. Sounds like you had a fantastic time. One of these days I will get to New Orleans it is on my bucket list. Ahhh. you won the llama LLama book. My kids have been big fans of that series starting at about one years, I am sure you will enjoy reading it to your grandbaby.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I’ve already read it to her a few times ..LOL Thanks Heidi and I hope you get to NOLA

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yeah originally only one park had it, then they made the train and connected it to both parks. It was our anniversary vacation so the splurge was ok..especially since we previously lived in Florida and use to get season passes for 99.00 ..it was good to give back a little

  19. Terri

Sounds like you had a lovely time! New Orleans is on my bucket list and I’ll get there one of these days! Something always seems to come up whenever I start planning, but I’m determined! Love that you didn’t need to say a word to your husband for him to buy the two passes. Gotta love men who understand their wives like that! lol

  20. Holly

Loved seeing your pictures of your trip at Universal – I LOVE Harry Potter world. Sigh….I’ve only been once right after it first opened and you had to have a pass with a specific hour to come inside but I’ve been itching to go back ever since. Enjoy resting up from your whirlwind vacation. Yes – a vacation at home is always needed after a vacation away from home!

Looks like you had an incredible time Kimba! I can see why you’d need to rest up after that vacation though – NOLA (all the graveyards?!), Harry Potter (squee! and of course you needed both tickets LOL!), and family you haven’t seen since 2006 (so wonderful!) – that’s quite a lot for ONE trip! Thanks for sharing the pics and welcome back 🙂
