Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

You will notice reviews have been creeping into Sunday afternoons. Apparently I am reading too much and finding it harder to add all the reviews to my schedule. For example I listened to all of the Kate Daniels series on audio in December but the reviews are scattered throughout the blog into March. #bloggerproblems #analproblems #ireadtodamnfast. While having pre-scheduled posts make blogging, reading and life easier sometimes I want to share in the moment or I have so many reviews I feel like I can’t squeeze in a discussion post or how to. It took me six months to squeeze in my review of Alias Hook. I have had the mindset of one post per day, but have decided my followers love all types of posts and genres, so having two different reviews on a given day or a review and a discussion post isn’t necessary a bad thing. We are anxiously awaiting baby, look to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and tsu for updates. Stay caffeinated!

FitReader Updates

FitReaders 2015I had a fairly successful week and logged 47,000 steps. This week I  consciously tried reducing my carb intake. I cut out some bread, and added more fruit. It was relatively easy.  My husband and I have begun researching home tread mills. Winter hear in Nebraska makes it impossible to walk out doors. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I am hoping the audio is good, and hope to get to Compulsion soon

  1. Madiha

Wow, its really admirable how you manage to post every day, but I strangely understand exactly what you’re saying about too much reading! I have barely finished a book and I skip to the next and then probably the next and that’s when I write my review of the first book because there are so many more reviews to write!

I am very good about writing them within 48 hrs, but there aren’t enough days to post them all..lol

    • kimbacaffeinate

Bwahaha Bea you and my husband are so funny..he suggested the same thing.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I hope so too Rita. Her due date is Monday and she has a doctor’s appointment in the afternoon. He said they will schedule to have her induced later in the week if she hasn’t gone. She is having some contractions and is 2-3 cm dilated and the babe is in 0 position so any time now..eep

  2. Lark

I know what you mean about not posting more than one post per day, but I think a review and a discussion post, or even two reviews, are fine. What I find annoying is when people post too many reveals. I prefer substantive posts, and you always give us those!

I hope everything goes well with baby. I’ve been keeping an eye on FB & Tumblr.

Oh, and I love the cover of A Spool of Blue Thread!

It has made things easier and will allow me to do the features and discussions while sharing all the books I read. Thanks and I will post as events happen. Oh yes I am excited to try A Spool of Blue Thread

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thanks Sarah, it is either that or go back to one post of mini multiple reviews, but I hate what it does to my review index. *rolls eyes* I know I am anal, it is a curse.

  3. A Voracious Reader

*jiggles excitedly* Had a visit from our grandbaby today and I was thinking about you. 😀

We have a Pro-Form XP treadmill that we’ve had for years. It doesn’t get extended use, but there are 3 of us using it and now Jessica wants to use it on days when it’s yucky out. I’ve never had any problems with it and I really like it. The only thing I wish I could do is program it with my own program. I want to try 3 minutes steady walking followed by a 30 second-1 minute burst of high speed, repeat, until 30 minutes is up. I’ve read it helps the liver rev up. I listen to an audio while I’m walking so it’s a pain to pay attention to the timer and adjust my speed. A small pain, but still…lol

I’ve tried very hard to keep Sundays my relax day, so I try to only post the Sunday Post on that day. In order to fit in more books I do the Two for Tuesday or post more than one in the MPM, Friday Featured Spotlight, Saturday Showcase or Saturday Shorts. I haven’t done those features in awhile, but I’m gearing them up again.

Sunday morning are spent with hosting and visiting, but I reply back to review posts on Monday. It works. I may switch it up and do different days here and there.

I loved Compulsion. I have the Great China Zoo from Netgalley, but it is going to be a while before I get to it. I will be looking forward to your thoughts on it. I adore the cover to A Spool of Blue Thread. I will have to check it out. I bought another audio book and I think that brings my audio library up to ten books, but I still haven’t listened to one. Lol. Have a fun week!

  5. Michelle

I wish i had that problem! I have a few backlogged reviews left, but even then I only have enough to last another week or two. I do have a ton of graphic novels to post though. I planned on doing some jogging tomorrow but I’m starting to feel sick…I swear my body is really addicted to being lazy, lol.

Right now I have 41 reviews done and scheduled. Jan and February are done and scheduled except for 2 days I am still working on and 6 posts are done in March. I hope you feel better, there is so much going around. You should write up some of the graphic reviews. I enjoy those.

  6. Katherine

I have some serious post envy of you right now! All those scheduled posts! But I can see the downside as you do lose that flexibility for posting different things. Are you going crazy on babywatch yet? Have a great week!

You would think all those posts would make my life easier..lol My hubby suggested maybe I should stop reading as much. *snort* Men can be so stupid. Let’s see I field a few dozen calls a day from my daughter, have talked her through Braxton-hicks contractions and handle food cravings..we are all ready for the big event.

  7. Red Iza

It’s funny, when I started blogging, I didn’t have enough reviews, so I added memes. Now I have plenty reviews in advance, which at first felt good, but now I have reviews I wrote last… july that are not published yet ! Since I don’t have many ARCs, I decided that I would let my readers choose which reviews they want to read first in polls as soon as I’m done with the Kiss of magic boxed set 😉
I don’t have a treadmill, I exercise indoors with videos and apps, mostly, so sorry, no advice :S Congrats on all the steps this week !

I think that is fun letting folks choose. I have release dates to work with and have trouble getting my own books posted 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

Wasn’t that cool. I was so surprised and plan to read and share.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Agreed, I had to snag it. I think it is less than 5.00 as an eBook

  8. Greg

Hey post as much as you need to to keep uo, LOL. There’s just too many books, isn’t there? 🙂 Good luck on baby watch!

Seriously right! January is almost done too. Have a wonderful day Linda!

  9. Peggy

I had to scale my blogging right down … it really is a full time job trying to keep up isn’t it. And the thing is – we love it as well. I also had to stop taking on review books. Just too many to be read, and I would like to read for myself as well. I think I have over 120 books logged on Goodreads waiting to be read which is great but the review books slowed me down too much, though I do love receive them of course.

  10. Lexxie

For a while, I had the same ‘problem’ as you, so now, I post reviews and memes/discussion posts on weekdays, and two different memes on the weekend. Sometimes, I’ve also posted reviews on the weekend, just so I can share the books sooner after I have read them. It’s great to be able to schedule ahead, but at the same time, it leaves less space for spontaneity.
It’s nice to see you’re continuing with the Succubus series, I enjoyed that one a lot 🙂 And the Wolf series by Tera Shanley looks really good.
I hope you’ll enjoy all your new books, Kim. Have a fantastic week!

Shanley’s books were good but both are novellas. The series continues with the same couple. I use to do WOW but stopped for lack of room and only do the Sunday Post, but I love doing discussions, recipes and how to’s. Double posts here and there will solve the problem.

  11. Trish

It must have been a long week waiting for that call. Hopefully baby will put in an appearance soon.
And I have no problem with blogs posting twice a day, certain genres attract some readers and not others so even if I have no interest in one review for an example, I might have in the other. You really have scheduling nailed, I’m pretty ok but I’d love to have as much in store as you do.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I think you are right, and when I do double post I will try to select two different genres or topics.

  12. Melliane

I have a problem with the succubus series because it was good at first and with Mead I’m always annoyed with the characters and it was really the gave with G. I hope it will be better for you. I didn’t know about the others. Happy reading!

I usually try to just post one review a day, too, but sometimes, I post 2 if I get behind. And then there are days I don’t get anything posted – I guess it all balances out!

I end up going to our local mall (which is pretty big) to walk during the winter – especially when I want to walk big distances. I do belong to a gym where I walk on a treadmill, but after an hour, I get bored. I’m currently training to walk a 1/2 marathon in March (which I did last year, too) and so training in the winter gets a bit tricky. I found that going to the mall before the stores open provides a safe place to walk, and I can listen to my audio book and walk for 2 hours with no one bothering me.

I have been walking in the house, we have an open floor plan and so I weave around the kitchen island and travel around through the dining room, living room, hallway and back to kitchen. I feel silly but listen to my audio and just move.

      • Kristin T.

Oh Kimba…I do that, too! And my dogs think I’m nuts, but know to stay out of my way! I either listen to an audio or catch up on my DVR while walking in my house! Gotta get those steps in one way or another 🙂

  17. Lola

I wish I read more books as I have trouble reading enough so I at least have one reviews each day. In your case I think posting two reviews on a day in some cases is a good solution. While I like being ahead, sometimes it’s also fun to write a post and be able to share it with your audience soon, I sometimes switch around some posts, just so I can do that.
Have a great week and enjoy your new books!

I do that too, and moved some reviews to Sunday afternoon, just so I could share a recent read that I loved sooner. Have a good week Lola!

  18. Jan

I certainly think posting two posts a day isn’t a bad thing especially if they’re different types of posts. It’s great you’re reading so many books and you should celebrate that! You always have lots of great content.

I hope all goes well for baby and Mom. It’s always a joyous time with a bit of anxiety. I’ll look forward to what it is like to be in the room when the baby’s born.

I know what you mean about that fine line between posting immediately and sharing a book, (especially if it’s one you’ve loved) and the need to stagger reviews. It’s really hard when something is embargoed, which I get with a lot of the graphic novels I get to review.
Here’s to a great week (and a grandchild!)

    • kimbacaffeinate

You have to post ahead it is the only way. January is done, February is scheduled and books read. I have Sunday Posts to do yet and one review, so I am working on March now. My problem is that I read on average between 20-25 books a month sometimes more sometimes less and cannot schedule them all in. I have 43 posts scheduled in advance.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Glad to hear you love the Succubus series and wahoo for All the Rage..i am excited too

  22. Kathy

I also bought Compulsion so I hope we both enjoy it! I’m a slow reader so I don’t have a problem with having too many reviews but I do try to have at least one post per day. This can be hard with tours and memes so I can understand your problem. But you read so many great books and I can’t wait to read your thoughts.

Fingers crossed your grandbaby makes her grand entrance this week. The wait is so nerve racking, you can tease her about it when she grows up. Have a great week!

I know a few of my friends struggle to get reviews written. I try to do them within 48 hrs and will cut myself off from reading anymore till they done..it seems to be good motivation,

  24. Alma

I’ve heard so much about Tsu over the past couple months, but I haven’t signed up yet! I was a bit skeptical at first, and I’m so bad at updating social media, and adding another one seemed a little weird! But I think I’ll give it a go and sign up soon, it looks good 😀

And wow, I really wish I had that many reviews scheduled! I’m the complete opposite right now (unfortunately!) – I have 10 books read, but haven’t written the reviews yet. I really should get started on that! I’m such a procrastinator, le sigh!

Hope her baby makes an appearance soon, and everything goes well!

I really like tsu and you can post there and share to your Facebook page. Oddly it has increased comments on my Facebook page. No more reading/movies/tv until you have written 3 reviews. For every three you write you can read a book or watch a movie.

  25. Candace

I think it’s okay to have more than one post a day! For years I did that, it’s only in the last couple that I cut back to usually only having one a day. I wish I could be reading like that. I only have one day scheduled for this coming week. I do have a review to prep and that leaves 3 more days to somehow find content for. I tend to do okay. I’ll get the book I’m reading read in time and then I’ll probably do a discussion post or something. I don’t know, but it tend to work out fine.
It looks like you had a great week!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Glad it works Candace, my problem is I am scheduled out 4-6 weeks week already, so if I pick up something unexpected or what to chat about something it would have to be posted 6 weeks from now and not in the moment. Doing two on occasion will fix that issue.

    • kimbacaffeinate

LOL, not really Melissa because then I would read even more and still have extras to fit in

  26. Elsi

As for treadmills, I’ve got one at home, which all three of us use daily, and have done so for about four years now. We haven’t had any issues with it, something I credit to it being professional. This is my advice: buy a professional one even if it will be more expensive. In the end, you win. (I know this because at the same time we got the treadmill, we also bought an elliptical – not a professional one. It broke. Now we’ve got a new one, and it’s already squeaking so badly *shakes head* Professional is the only way to go!) Enjoy your Sunday! <3

Great week you had! I also have the same problems with my reviews on my blog. I try to post up 3 reviews either on Fridays or Saturdays, depending on when I get my reviews in and I just read so many books at one time that it’s hard for me to decide on how many reviews I should post up each week.

  32. Sophia Rose

Haha! Yes, too many reviews for one a day is definitely a good problem to have. Some books are so good or are so irritating that I just have to discuss them or burst.

Oh, thanks for letting me know about the Silver Wolf Clan freebie. I grabbed the second book for review, but it will be nice to read them in order.

Congrats on doing well with your walking and reduced carb intake.

  33. Bookworm Brandee

I surely don’t mind more posts from you. 🙂 But I’m in at off how fast you are. I didn’t think i was a slow reader until i started blogging. Some of you *points finger* read 2 and 3 times more than I do. I always tell my hubs not to complain about how much I read – it could be worse. 🙂 I have a Sole elliptical and love it. It’s easier on my knees. 🙂

  34. Leeanna

Two reviews a day is a good way to get rid of your backlog. Especially if you’re posting for different genres.

    Congrats on the new grandbaby!
