Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

We had our first snowfall and temperatures hovered between 10 degrees and 35 all week long..brrr. Saturday we got the pictures from the wedding..so lovely. It snowed again leaving us with 3 inches of the white stuff and temps last night and this morning around 6 degrees. I feel like Winter came in and said, “You’re my B@tch” We got no courtship this year at all and temps look bitter for the next ten days. I had to put my flip-flops away and trade them for my fuzzy slippers. I got some stellar books and a few were ones I was drooling over. I may have devoured them already. Thanks to last months reading frenzy I reached my goal of 250 books for the Goodreads challenge and currently sit at 254.  A far cry  from the 307 I read in 2013, but the year ain’t over yet.  Stay Caffeinated and I hope your part of the world is warmer.

Yay! Another How do I do that post! Snow?? I’ve been complaining about our weather being in the 40s. Sounds like I’m a serious wimp. I’ve heard some mixed things about the newest Sarah Morgan so I’m looking forward to seeing what you think of it. Have a great week!

I like Morgan Katherine. I would be happy with 40 if there is no wind..LOL

  2. Greg

Man, it’s cold here too but I think you’re coldr than us! We have snow too… we’re in the snow belt here, east of us there’s anything! We’re getting more tonight too.

    I think Symbiont looks good.

We get a mix of everything here, we ended up with close to 4 inches. More? Oi I am not even going to look at the forecast..LOL

    • kimbacaffeinate

We went from flip-flops to snow boots and did not ease into winter. One day is was in the low 60’s the next low 20’s. Ah well, I have my fuzzy socks and slippers on.

  3. Angie

We are really cold this week and got some snow too. I love it. I don’t like how early it gets dark out though. That’s the only thing I can’t really stand. Have a great week!

Oh, that is seriously cold! We never get that cold (or we haven’t!), but we are cooling off. This week, we had rain.

Enjoy those lovely books….every time I see a Tess Gerritsen book, I am reminded of the Rizzoli and Isles TV show, which I love. I really want to start reading that series.

Tess’s books are better than the show, but I do enjoy it. Yeah we can get bitter here..like -22. When the wind blows it sucks your breath away.

Warm greetings from my part of the world! Congratulations on reaching your Goodreads Reading Challenge goal. Let’s keep on reading! Have a great week ahead!

I’ve really bit the big one when it comes to book numbers. I really didn’t get back into it until the summer, and I still sputter on occasion. Yes, the weather has taken a turn for the worse, but now that I put my space heater in the office, I can stay warm while I post.

    Stay warm!!

My numbers are lower on account of the wedding and audiobooks, but as long as we are reading it’s all good. Glad you are staying toasty!

  7. Lexxie

You got The Golden Son?!? I can’t wait to read that book, I loved Red Rising so much, and I can’t wait to see what will happen next.
I take it you think winter is being rather impolite with you this year, and I think I’d feel the same way. On the other time, once there is snow, it’s not as dark at night…
I hope you’ll be able to stay warm and cozy with a good book.

True the moon reflected on the snow makes it lighter. I prefer winter dances with me as the temps descend. One day it was 64 and the next 21. too fast.

  8. Pages and Tea

Ooo, snow. It sounds lovely but the minute it snows here, even only a couple of inches everything grinds to a halt. We’re definitely not prepared for the winter weather 🙂

Wow, congratulations on reading so many books. I don’t know how you do it – I’ve managed about 45 or so so far this year and for me that feels like a lot.

    Have a great week!

We still travel, they are pretty good here. Getting out of the neighborhood is the hardest aspect. Thanks and 45 is a good number!

Warm is good Sharon and 150 books is fantastic! I know you work full-time as well. Enjoy your week!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Why did I think it was spring there? Hmm, I need to look at weather maps.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I love her too. It is 8 degrees here this morning. Brrr. I slept with fuzzy socks on last night!

  10. Alma

Oh gosh, snow already!? We haven’t had snow yet, but plenty of rain! Winter really is starting early… it’s kind of ominous of what weather is to come, in honesty *shivers* Congrats on finishing your Goodreads goal 😀 Enjoy all your books, have a great week!

  11. Jan

Brrr…that is cold, Kimba! And snow, too. It’s colder here, too–but just our first temps below freezing. I’m looking forward to your tips and tricks. I always learn new things.

Stay warm and have fun reading!

Thanks Jan. It has been so bitter, I would love temps above freezing, heck I will take freezing. It is 8 here.

  12. Lola

Wow you got snow already? It’s a bit colder here, but no snow yet, but usually we don’t get snow until December or January here if we get any at all. I am not sure what’s normal for where you live?

Congrats on reaching your goodreads goal! I also reached my goodreads goal this week, I only realized when one of my friends commented to congratulate me, lol. I wasn’t sure if I would reach my goal, but a reading a lot of novella’s really helped.
    Enjoy your new books!

Wahoo..glad you reached your goal. We have weird weather. It has snowed as early as Halloween and as late as May 3rd.

Banana Nut Bread And Die Again By Tess Gerritsen – I thought it was a food related mystery – like Death by Brownies only with a dish that had an ‘and’ in it like “ham and eggs.” But I couldn’t figure out what food it was, Banana Nut and Die was weird, I thought – then I saw the author…. Duh!!!

    • kimbacaffeinate

hahaha…oh that is too funny and too true. I’ve seen cozy mysteries like that. Should be interesting come Weds to see how people read that title.

  14. Yvonne

Just thinking about snow makes me cold. It’s 30 degrees here and has been between 30 and 40 all week. Cold, but no snow so I won’t complain because I’m sure it will get worse when we get snow.

You did great with your Goodreads challenge. I’m 6 books away before getting to my 100 books goal. I’m pretty sure I’ll make it this year 🙂

    Have a great week!

    • kimbacaffeinate

You will make that goal and pass it I am sure Yvonne. Those temps sound more like normal.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Do you follow me on Instagram or twitter? I share photos all the time. On Facebook too. I can add one next week though.

  15. Terri M.

Winter did hit the Midwest hard and fast this year. I was out Christmas shopping when the snow started and I couldn’t wait to get home. The roads were slick! And this morning there is a wondering blanket of 3 inches on the ground and an arctic blast headed our way. Stay warm and caffeinated, Kimba!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yep, that is us too. We are close are we not? You stay warm too Terri!

  16. Holly

I am NOT ready for winter-y weather. But thankfully our “highs” last week and this week vary from 60 one day to 40 the next and 50’s in between. That’s way warmer than where ya’ll are! Congrats on making your reading goal! I am not quite to mine yet. With 9 more to go I shouldn’t have a problem….better find a lot of short books to read. Ha! Enjoy your week!

Holly recently posted: Sunday Post #102
    • kimbacaffeinate

Oh 9 is easy. My guess is you will surpass your goal. Now that is the weather I was expecting. We are bitter cold.

  17. Michelle

I might be just a bit jealous of your snow. I love this time of year and I do enjoy the chilly weather. It has been cold here but to everyone else it’s freezing but to me it could be colder 🙂 Everyone in my house hates me cause I keep the windows open lol

That is a great goal I had mine originally set at 100 but I just wasn’t reading as fast as 2013 so I switched it to 75 then I thought I was getting close to my goal but for some reason goodreads added a few book to my read list I never read so I went down, so the point of my store is I do hope I can reach my goal and have set my standards high for next year because I would love to hit the 100 book mark.

Have a great week Kim, stay warm!!! 🙂

  18. Sandy

Great week Kimba! Congrats on hitting your Goodreads goal! I don’t know that I’ll ever hit 250 or 300 in a year. But that’s okay with me, I think. I’ll be stoked if I get 150 this year. Thanks for featuring the 2015 Series Enders Reading Challenge post!!! Hope you have a great week!

150 is an impressive amount. I think most average 75. My numbers aren’t impressive as some. I saw one the other day for 365. You are welcome Sandy!

  19. Melissa's Eclectic Bookshelf

I didn’t hit my goal last year 95/100) and I doubt I will this year I’m only at 81. Hard to believe I read 117 books in 2012! Unfortunately real life stepped it up for me and I don’t see it settling down for a while yet…but I’m enjoying most of what I am reading and that’s what it’s really all about!

Regarding the weather…thankfully it is not that bad here yet….we went from mid 60’s on Wed to Mid 40’s now…and going below freezing at night…but luckily no snow yet. I did finally retire my flip flops and open toed sandals in Friday though…the girls in the office were giving me a hard time! LOL

Ha, I keep mine out for as long as possible..but 8 degrees and snow do not mix with flip-flops. I got my Uggs out…LOL Your work schedule and commute is horrific I am impressed you managed 81 books.

  20. Rita

We’re having very pleasant 60s-70s daytime, but before you feel envious, remember my scorching hot summer 🙂

I can’t wait to read the new Tess Gerritsen book! She is one of my favorite go-to authors, and she skipped a year releasing a new book due to her father’s death in the past year. Will be curious about your opinion on it, though I will buy it and read it regardless. We all have a few select names that we pick up, no matter what.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I am excited about Tess too. I have read all of her books Rita. I felt bad about her Dad..but think it is lovely she was able to take the time off. Sadly we get crazy hot in the summer and friggin’ freezing in the winter here. Enjoy the weather while it lasts!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thanks Sophia. I am excited about Golden Son. I am sure you will meet your goal. Happy reading!

  21. Berls

I know! What’s the deal with this weather?! I’m in Dallas and we’ve been hovering in the high 30s, low 40s all week. We’re even supposed to freeze tonight! So not acceptable. Apparently even Mother Nature is trying to rush us to Christmas.

I really enjoyed Molly Harper’s Undead Christmas – have you read any of the Half Moon Hollow Series? I THOUGHT I had, but then realized that it is not the same thing as Jane Jameson while reading that book. I totally understood everything though 🙂

Nope but I was worried when I saw it was part of that series. So glad yo hear it worked though!

  22. Kristin T.

It’s been cold here, too, but we haven’t had any snow yet. I’m very excited for the new Tess Gerritsen book, but I’m going to wait for the audio of it. And speaking of audio, I loved your audio junky post – just left a comment! Huge audio fan here!!!

Have a great week – and stay warm!!!

I bet it will be good on audio. This anal gal needs to stick with a series in the same format I started it on..but don’t worry I keep adding series to audio.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Right a girl likes a little foreplay. Oh I am sure you will nail that goal!

  23. Elsi

Congratulations on exceeding your goal. I’m on track to meet my goal early in December — only 8 more books to complete to get to the goal of 150 that I set. I also set a page goal to keep myself from getting to the book goal by reading lots of short books. I should reach that goal by the end of the year, but not as soon as I get to 150 books.

You’ve got quite a haul there. I couldn’t possibly keep up with that many books each week. I read on average 3-4 books a week. When they come in at a faster rate, I start feeling really stressed.

I cannot wait to get to Hero. I love Young 🙂 Have a wonderful week Whitney!

  24. Kristin

I miss the snow. I heard that my family back home was getting snow this week. It will be a while until I see that white stuff in person. I don’t think I will see much of it with where we live now. And congrats on reaching your goal. I’m only at 132 books read for the year.

I have lived where it doesn’t snow and missed it as well but here sometimes it is so cold we don’t see the grass until May.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Ooo you had more than me..unless that was two different snow occurrences. Is it spring yet?

  25. Kathy

I’ve lived in California all my life and would love to have a white Christmas at least once. I’m sure I would hate to commute in the snow but it looks so pretty! I saw your pics on Instagram and it looks so cozy reading in front of your fireplace. Hope you stay warm and congratulations on reaching your goal! That is amazing! This was my first year of tracking the number of books I read and I am surprised at that I went past my goal of 60 books. Have a great week and I hope you enjoy all your new books!

Bleh, the fact that you have snow means it will probably get a lot colder here soon. I’m so over cold weather and it’s only just began. I hope you stay warm, I would never leave the chair near my fireplace if we had snow this early.

Agreed. It is bitter cold today and we will be breaking record lows held since the 1950’s. Today i plan to sit by the fire and read!

  28. Lark

Brrr, those are some freezing-cold temps! It’s gotten colder here, too, but not by that much. It dipped under 32 on Saturday night, but the days are in the 40s and low 50s – still a far cry from the lovely high 60s we were having before the cold snap, but nothing compared to what you folks are getting.

Well done on reaching your Goodreads goal in mid-November! And I thought I read quickly! I’m about 8 books ahead for a target of 175, but 250?!!! Wow!

Lark recently posted: Only Enchanting, by Mary Balogh

you are doing fantastic Lark! We are going to break a record low with temps around 7 tomorrow morning. The record was 8 in 1915 for the same day. I am not impressed!

  29. Tanya

I decided it was time to put the flip flops away this morning when the dog refused to go out into the lawn to do her business and I had to lead her out there with snow on the ground. Brrrr, toes were cold! Now to find those fuzzy slippers. Hopefully they are not in little fluff clouds that the dogs have created! Can’t wait for your How the Heck post! Love those!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yes that would have made me put them away as well. Hope your slippers are still alive:)
