Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

This week life returned to normal.*well sort of*  The last of our guests went home on Tuesday and I spent the afternoon reading two books. It was bliss, than on Wednesday I developed a headache with nausea. It was awful and while it started diminishing on Saturday, I still feel off. Grr. In other news, I have declared December as the month I will finish up trilogies/series and attack only my TBR list of purchased books. I am co-hosting a Giveaway hop for Thanksgiving weekend. The link to sign up is below and in sidebar. I hope you will join in the fun. Have a lovely, caffeinated week!

So sorry to hear you’ve been feeling sick. Hopefully you’ll be able to relax and get to feeling back to normal soon. You’ve got some great books this week! I’ve really enjoyed all the MacLean, London and SEP books I’ve read. You’ve got some new to me author reviews coming up this week which I’m sure is going to do some serious damage to my TBR! Have a great week!

Haha…I am glad to share new authors with you and apologize in advance for any weight it adds to your tbr pile 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

I have been reading, and catching up on all the shows we have on the DVR. Thanks Sharon

  2. Berls

I can’t believe it’s all over! It seems like you JUST told us they were engaged! I need to go back and see pictures – I’ve missed a lot in my little blog break! I’m glad you’re feeling better, I bet it was all the excitement / stress of the last few weeks catching up with you! Hope you have a blissfully stress free week ahead 🙂

Check Sunday Post 128..there is a slide show. I just spent the evening reading Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews and OMG…so good Berls. Glad to see you are back.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I hope you feel better too Camille. I am resting by watching tv and reading.

  3. Nyze

Hoping you’re feeling a lot better now and two books in a day? Wow! I haven’t experienced that in a long time since my work got crazy enough to consume all of my time these days.

Yeah, it was bliss but it was also because if I sat up I felt ill. So I had a most excellent excuse to lay in bed and read.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I am. not 100% but on the road to recovery. Thanks Michelle 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thanks Greg. I am wondering if it had something to do with the flu shot I got, but yes feeling better.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I am in the middle of a book/movie watching binge and it is lovely.

  4. Tressa

I need to go see what you though of Ruining Mr. Perfect. I read three of those in a row even though I skimmed for content and language – man was there a lot of language. I read Heroes Are My Weakness too, but haven’t reviewed it yet. She is one adult romance author I will read. Anyway, I hope you have a great week!

Yeah they are adult and adult grown men tend to curse when alone with each other. I love that you can power read a series. I have to allow time in between. I am excited about Phillips book.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Ha..we all need a year to catch up. All is quiet here until December when I am hosting a party here.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Well I got the flu shot Oct 1, so I don’t think it was or maybe a milder version of it. Mostly the type of headache where you cannot move or you get waves of nausea.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I actually read quite a bit this week. I found if I laid on my side and just read between napping it worked. I hate when you get so sick that you cannot read..now that is awful.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thank you Linda. I read Burn For Me last night and oh lord was it good!

  5. Lola

Headaches with nausea are the worst. Sometimes it helps for me to eat something or drink tea, but often I just have to sit them out. I am glad to hear you’re feeling a bit better now! I hope you have a great week!

  6. Whitney

I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling Grrr, I have to agree that being ill is awful. I also forgot to mention that I loved the wedding photos you shared, everyone looked so happy. I hope you get back to 100% soon and have a great week.

Thanks Whitney. I am hoping the headache completely fades soon. We had a wonderful time. Hope your week is lovely too

    • kimbacaffeinate

Agreed, that was all that really counts and it didn’t happen while we had company. I think once I began to unwind it rolled in..LOL

  7. Michelle

So sorry to hear you are not feeling well, headaches are awful! I signed up for both the HO HO HO and the Black Friday Hop, I can’t wait for them, they are such great ideas!

I remember after my wedding I felt like I had a million things to do but couldn’t think of what it was only because all that planning gets you on this groove that takes a while to get out of Lol. Glad you were able to sit back and relax a bit you deserve it!!!

Have a great week Kim and Enjoy your new books

    • kimbacaffeinate

Sweet. thank you. I do love King and Will just made it sweeter. This week has some interesting finds. Thanks Angela.

  8. Melissa (My World...in words and pages)

Still recouping from wedding fun. 🙂 Sounds great!

I’ve been a bit MIA for… about a month. Hard to believe. Life has taken over these last few months and time has become a lost thing. *sigh*

Do hope you are doing well and get some relaxing time. Take care!

Yes, time it controls everything. I truly want a time manipulator.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yes. I plan to read my own books and that new shiny books come my way and …Well you know the story.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yay! We are excited you joined. It is the perfect way to spend the holiday weekend.

  9. Rachael Turns Pages

You look like you had a great week. Glad you got some reading done. Tackle Your TBR will hopefully help me to finish those purchased books I have. I read one every couple of months. I’m lining up Christmas books for the Ho Ho Ho Readathon. Thanks for the reminder on the Wonderfully Wicked Read-a-thon. I will have to join that along with Dewey’s Readathon next weekend.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yes, the thons this time of year are great, and since I didn’t do my Fraterfest, I am excited to join others.

  10. Kristin

Sounds like a migraine to me 🙁 And YOU’VE been running your body ragged so I’m thinking Dr. ParaHangover is correct. I’m sooooooo sorry!!! Next time, if you don’t think it’s the flu, go in to the doctor pronto (if you can get someone to drive you) or urgent care, tell them you have a migraine (or just tell them your symptoms) and they can give you 2 shots. Yeah, they’re in the hip/butt but without imitrex, or when imitrex doesn’t work, the shots will fix you up. One shot is for pain, one is for nausea. Most places know what shots to give. Otherwise, you’ll be sick to your belly and in pain for up to 6 days, as you’re finding out. You’re in the migraine hangover phase where you’re out of sorts. I know the feeling soooooo well. o.O

You are totally reviewing great books that I still haven’t had a chance to read yet! Thanks for the awesome advice on setting aside the book! I had no clue you were still reading YA 🙂 YAY!!!

I really hope you feel better soon and keep drinking the coffee… it helps!!!! *hugs*

    • kimbacaffeinate

I got the flu shot on Oct 1st. I have never had migraines before, my guess was a mild flu or side effect. All I do know is that I never want it to happen again. Since I could read if I laid on side and didn’t move I am thinking it is not migraine. If I stood up or moved my head the pain increased, along with the dizziness and nausea.

      • Kristin

Pish, that’s a migraine, girl. You’ve had your first. Hurts to move your head. Yep, that’s a symptom. Classic symptom. And yes, you can still read when you have them. Sometimes watching tv sideways is easier for me. Everybody is different.

You may never get another one again but I’m sending your club welcome package in the mail shortly. It’s basically just lots of coffee, a cooling eye mask, and a frying pan to smack your head with. Sorry, budget is tight this year since we unionized…

  11. Rita

I sure hope your migraine goes away soon. That’s a long time for one to last, but you had all that stressed stored up and it had to go somewhere. Good for you to get back to reading, though how the heck you can read 2 books in one day is beyond me 🙂
I just signed up for your Black Friday giveaway hop. Is it okay to run my giveaway old-school? I don’t usually bother with linkies and such. Thanks.

Kristin thinks it was a migraine, whatever it was I do not want it again. I can read a paperback in about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. I was starved for books after all that activity. This week I read 6 books…LOL Yes you can run your giveaway anyway you like.

  12. Kristin

That’s kind of what I’m doing now. I’ve slowed down on the review books so that I can focus on my growing tbr pile of books from over the years. I hope you start feeling 100% better soon. 🙁

I am trying not to accept any for December and read only books I purchased. We shall see how it goes. LOL

  13. Kathy

I hope you are feeling better and now that the last of your guests have left you can relax more. The Julia London anthology sounds really good. I’ve read some of her books and really liked them so I’ve added this to my TBR. Your goal for tackling your TBR is good. I plan to do start that January and have series that I want to finish. I’m signing up for the Black Friday giveaway. Have a great week!

I have a few I am desperate to finish, and reviews of books I have already read and no where to fit them in the schedule, so this should help.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Sorry it happened to you too, and wishing you the same 🙂

  14. Lexxie

I hope you’ll stay healthy, Kimberly, no fun being sick! You are very well organized, and I’m in awe that you are able to plan in advance what books to read. When I try to do that, I tend to not feel like reading that specific genre anymore…
It’s my first time signing up for the Sunday post. I figured I might as well also make sure my posts will all be in one place every week, and it’s awesome to know that other bloggers have already thought of this.
    Have a fantastic week!

So glad you signed up. I review in advance and only accept x amount of books per month. I am reading for mid November now, and this allows me to pick from that month, so I don’t feel boxed in. It also allows me to add books that pop up into the current month. I have like ten reviews done that I can pop in here or there as well. In case of a DNF or illness. Sometimes being anal is cool. LOL

      • Lexxie

I’m so bad, because I sometimes go on a request spree, and end up with tons of review-books all at the same time. I’ve gotten better at requesting books that aren’t going to be released for a long while, though, just so I don’t go completely crazy trying to figure out how to make sure I read and review at the right time 🙂
Thanks for the warm welcome 🙂

I’m sorry you haven’t been feeling well, Kimba! Warm thoughts, virtual hugs and a soothing pot of chamomile tea headed your way. (It’s good for nausea.)
The giveaway hop sounds fun; I’m thinking about it! And fantastic link to the HTML cheat sheet. I’ve put one together for myself, but that goes further than I had gotten yet. I’ll have to add some of those codes and tips to my box of tricks!

Hope you had fun, and yes I am bouncing over the MacLean book!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Oh I struggled with Afterworlds, but other peeps seemed to love it.

  16. A Voracious Reader

Aw! Sorry to hear you’ve been sick, but glad it’s going away. I’m declaring November NetGalley month in order to get my shelf cleared out over there. It’s, um, quite full. *cough* Put your feet up and read, read, read and relax, my friend!

I am really good with my ARCs and my NetGalley score is in the high 90’s, but my personal books suffer. I am still in my Pajamas my friend and intend to stay in them all day!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thanks Linnae, I guess it is the change in the weather, as we are all suffering. Feel better!

  17. Sarah

If you’re still feeling off, perhaps a visit to the doctor is in order. Sounds like some sort of stomach bug – yucko! Hope you are feeling better and finish off some books on your TBR list! Apparently the new Susan Phillips book is pretty good – hope its good for you! 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yeah, between Kristin @ My Parahangover and my hubby I am making an appointment. She is convinced I suffered a migraine and hubby is worried I could have something seriously wrong. So off to the docs this week 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

Awe sorry to hear ya all were sick too. Tis the season. Thanks Sara 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

They were easy reads and pure bliss after two weeks of 20 mins here and there. Thanks sweetie!

    • kimbacaffeinate

I do a TBR challenge in March which helps, but I have books on my pile that I bought on release day and between arcs and the wedding..I need some me book time..LOL. So hopefully December will be all about those purchases.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thanks, and I wouldn’t be surprised if I simply crashed 🙂
