Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @Β Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here:Β Sunday Post Meme

It has been raining, and by raining I mean buckets. The weather has been downright chilly and I have been praying to Mother Nature to bring us an Indian Summer for the 27th. Are ya all sick of hearing about the wedding yet? 14 days!!!! Last night was the Bachelorette party and I must say we all had a lovely time. We learned this week that our friends from Oregon will be coming out for the wedding. The kids made all the RSVP phone calls and our guest numbers are confirmed. My In-laws arrive Friday and then the final preparations begin. Β Jessica and Tony are excited, and I get excited just seeing how excited they are. Despite a few bumps, it is really a happy time here. I am a day behind on commenting and visiting. Slow and steady. Stay Caffeinated πŸ™‚

Bea..I told everyone in October I am not doing anything but relaxing in my pajamas, reading books and watching movies.LOL

  1. Kristin

Tied!!!??? Dang… I’ve got to start that one already!!! I did finally read Wallbanger this week after forever. So Tangled and that Dublin Street (or whatever!) book are still on my must read soon list! Then I’ve got to hit those Ritchie books Christy loves!

Check me out up at 1:15am my time! I’m working on posts for next week! … just bragging.

BTW… what’s up with mom going to the bachlorette party???? Sorry honey but, um…. you ARE the mom (snicker, snicker). It’s okay, don’t cry!!! It just means grandkidlets are in your future and you’re not responsible for your daughter anymore!

No!!! Don’t cry!!! It’ll be okay!!! Crap… my foot doesn’t taste too good πŸ˜‰

:snort: I am not crying, but my head hurts a little. I discovered I like the following drinks “sex on the beach” and “Godiva Martinis”. I was invited, and the party was a little unusual, since the bride to be is twenty. We actually went to a dinner movie theater. As for the grandma bit..i am ready.

  2. Berls

Nope! Not tired of hearing about it at all! I’m glad y’all had a fun bachelorette party and I sure hope the weather straightens up for the 27th. It’s not outdoors is it? Have a great week – I’m sure you’ll be busy!

I heard those rumors about Kristin, but wasn’t sure if it was true. hehe

  3. Whitney

How exciting! I would also suggest not looking at the weather forecast for the next 14 days. When my brother got married last year the wedding was outside and they were predicting rain all day, but it turned out beautiful. Needless to say the week leading up to the ceremony was nerve wracking! I’m sure it will be fantastic no matter what the weather!

I know, I told myself the same thing..and then I keep looking everyday. Mostly because the last week has been crazy with temps below 50 and rain. This wedding is 100% outdoors, but there are some tents.

  4. Greg

We had a day like that yesterday, where it rained all day and was miserable. Other than that it’s been okay, but it’s been cooling down for us too. Especially at night. Come on Indian summer!

Nice to see the HoHoHo readathon coming back. Wow it’s that time of year already! Have a great week Kimba and happy reading.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Glad you are signed up for Ho-Ho-Ho, it seems early, but before you know it we will all be bitchin’ about the weather and the holidays will be in full swing πŸ™‚

  5. Deasy

I’ve never been into a bachelorette party before and actually it’s not really a custom to do one in my country. I’ve been always curious though. Hope you and your family have a good time, Kimba πŸ™‚

    • kimbacaffeinate

It was fun. You make the bride to be wear a sash letting everyone know she is the bride to be. We made her wear a princess tiara, a huge candy diamond ring and carry around a bouquet made out of lollipops. It’s a girls night filled with laughter and lots of giggling.

    • kimbacaffeinate

You are very welcome Mary, I love the Sunday Post as I get to find new books, see what I missed and learn a little about the blogger.

  6. Red Iza

All fingers are crossed, here, hands and feet, so that the Indian summer finally shows up ! I’m glad to know things are overall going smoothly, enjoy the family time – have a great week and yay, time will pass quickly !

Thanks Iza, I have so much to do over the next two weeks it makes my head spin, but I know it will all be worth it.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Ha…maybe. I almost didn’t comment or visit today. I am behind on reviews and have two to write. Plus my son’s room is going to be a guest room. It needs to cleaned, and I might need a forklift to do it.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I am looking forward to reading Tied. I am tempted to read around wedding each night.

  7. Cait

Ooh, sounds freezing. πŸ™ Although, I can’t be really sad for you because it means my country is FINALLY warming up! HUZZAH. I can’t wait for swimming and going to the beach and just ditching my 2 dozen layers. πŸ˜‰

Oh I remember feeling like at the tail end of winter. I just need 14 more days..then it is all yours sweetie!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thankfully, I did not look, and only one was sent. Sometimes quiet weeks are good my friend.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I loved Gone Girl and reviewed it previously on the blog. Big Little Lies was fantastic on audio.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thanks Ellen, it is hard to believe it has been three years πŸ™‚

    • kimbacaffeinate

*blushes* Thanks Steph. I use several different formulas and use what feels natural for the book I am reviewing.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thanks Sherry, I am trying not to lose myself in all the busy little details and to enjoy each moment as it arrives. Today we are taking the afternoon off and taking the bride to be to the pumpkin festival. Our last outing before she becomes a wife.

  8. Kristin T.

I remember it rained the whole week and morning of my wedding but turned out beautiful for the ceremony – it was outside on the beach. I will add my wishes that the same happens for your daughter! I have enjoyed hearing all about the wedding planning – thank you for sharing with us!!!

    Have a great week!

Glad to hear the Bachelorette party was fun. Here instead of rain we’ve been having some warm weather. It was cooling down for a few weeks and not it’s pretty warm again, the weather is weird sometimes. I’ll try to send some of this weather in your direction for the wedding!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thanks Yvonne. My to do list seems HUGE, but some how I know it will all get done πŸ™‚

  11. Michelle

I am so not tired of hearing about the wedding! I am going to my good friends wedding next weekend and my best friend just got engaged so I all about weddings at the moment. haha

I am checking out some of your reviews now and signing up for your event as well as Heidi’s event. πŸ™‚

    • kimbacaffeinate

Glad you are signing up, and not tired of hearing about it all. Have a wonderful time at the wedding.

  12. Booketta

I hope you get your Indian summer for the wedding. We have had ours and although still dry it has turned cooler and more cloudy.

*fingers crossed* The weather now shows 84, but the evening will cool off to around 50. We do have a fire pit so that will help. Plus dancing should keep us warm as the evening progresses.

  13. Katherine

It sounds like wedding plans are going great and how fun that everyone is so excited. I can imagine that you’ll be exhausted when this is over because you have really gotten an incredible about done! I’m looking forward to your review on the Donna Kauffman. I’ve really been enjoying her Blueberry Cover books. Now I just need to remember to sign up for the read-a-thon!

  14. Kathy

It’s really exciting the wedding is almost here. You can send the rain to Sacramento because it has been in high 90’s here. Plus we are in the middle of a drought so we need the rain!! I hope the weather does get better for you and you have a great time with the final preparations. Have a great week!!

I do not see relaxation in my future till maybe my birthday Oct. 1st. I told everyone I will be spending every weekend in October in my pajamas on the sofa reading and watching movies.

  16. Rita

Can’t wait for the wedding as a sidelines spectator πŸ™‚ Hope the weather improves. At least it’s not triple digits like we have this weekend, a last burst of summer heat wave.
Read your books, stay calm and carry on!

Of course we’re not tired of hearing about the wedding! And I’m glad you’re having so much fun with it all, even if it is a very busy time. And don’t worry about being a little behind – you focus on your daughter, and enjoying this time together. That’s what matters most in the end. πŸ™‚

Thanks Lark. I am really looking forward to the Caffeinated Take-over. I struggle with not replying and commenting. I feel I owe it to you all and the publishers/authors. It has been a struggle, I am even behind on writing reviews. Nevertheless, I am having a blast and my spirits are high πŸ™‚

Ug, the rain and the cold is settling into the Midwest. Hard to believe that summer is nearly over. Loved your post about giveaways and I’m looking forward to your post about Locked In. We just saw John Scalzi in Iowa City this past Tuesday night. He is very funny! My husband is reading Locked In right now.

    • kimbacaffeinate

OMG, so jelly I loved Lock In. Yep, we are in Omaha so I feel you on the weather. Thankfully things are warming up and the temps are more on the normal end.

  20. Rita_h

A lot of work for you, but the results will be worth it! I’m sure the rain is only temporary, and if it’s cool out, so be it! It’s an Autumn wedding so the cool weather should bring some lovely red and gold leaves outside.
I signed up for Ho Ho Holiday, even though it was 103 here yesterday– I’m dreaming of sugarplums dancing in my head, lol!
Good luck this week with the countdown, entertaining the relatives and blogging.

Oh wow, that wedding so happening soon! We haven’t been getting a lot of rain over by me, it actually feels like a crisp October day which I like a lot. I hear it’s supposed to be in the 80s next week so maybe you can bring the shorts back! πŸ™‚

And I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Big Little Lies!

Woooo almost wedding time! It’ll be so relieving to get back to everyday life *snicker* I hope you share a couple pics! I love weddings.
You have some awesome posts I need to go check out, so that’s where I’m heading next!

    • kimbacaffeinate

hehe..yes I plan to stay in my pajamas for all of October while reading and watching movies. (well maybe on the weekends only)

  24. Tanya M

Aw, so exciting. A young bride! It’s supposed to be good luck if it rains on your wedding day or maybe thats what people just told me because it poured the week before we got married. July…in texas…in the middle of a drought. It rained buckets while we were in the church but not while we were outside. Since then we’ve looked at rain as tears of joy from heaven. It has rained on many significant moments in our married life and we always feel the presence of the loved ones we’ve lost during the rain. πŸ™‚

    • kimbacaffeinate

Awe that is nice Tanya, it can rain in the am, lightly..but the entire event is outdoors.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thanks Lauren, as the whole thing is outdoors I hope the rain doesn’t happen πŸ™‚

  25. Tressa

14 days!!! That’s awesome. You probably won’t know what to do with yourself afterwards, after the climax and all the work and time and then it will be over… Lol! That’s how my mom felt when my oldest sister got married. You’ve definitely still been keeping busy on here though, which is amazing! I’ve got to go read a couple of your reviews that I missed…

    • kimbacaffeinate

Oh not me sweetie, I have been married for 26 years Faye. My youngest, the baby who is twenty is getting married on the 27th. All I can recommend is plan, plan early!

    • kimbacaffeinate

I am not Candace. I am beginning to feel the pressure of trying to keep up with comments. Last week I was a day behind..this week I am days behind..LOL I always feel so guilty not replying and commenting back, it is something I struggle with even when on vacation. I have a list of things to do each day and I have been allowing an hour in the am for the blog, than when I finish list for the day I can get back on. Last night I fell asleep, I was pooped and never did. Is it just me or do we all suffer from guilt?

    • kimbacaffeinate

thanks you Diana. I am confident that no matter what happens it will be a wonderful day for them.

  26. Fay

I haven’t been on your blog in a while but I am soooo glad I came back as it looks absolutely amazing and I won’t be wondering far again! Are you taking part in Bloggiesta this year?
