Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

And it’s August! The year is flying by and to date I have read/listened to 165  books. For the month of July I read 25 books and listened to 4 audio-books. The past week has been absolutely beautiful with temperatures in the 80’s and I welcomed it with open arms. My youngest and soon to be bride turned twenty this week and we celebrated with ice cream cake. I know this is early but we are once again putting together the Ho-Ho-Ho read-a-thon for November 6-11th and if you would like to host a challenge, please email me.

Gah, it’s too early to think about Christmas!

I’m ready for some cooler weather, maybe 70’s and dry. 🙂 Well, you enjoy your warm temps and happy reading!

    • kimbacaffeinate

It was in the low 80’s here with a lovely breeze, and compared to the 90’s of last week I was in heaven. 🙂

  2. Berls

Happy birthday to your blushing bride 🙂 Man, I feel old LOL. When I was her age I had just met my current BF.

I hope you enjoy the Maze Runner – I loved it, though the second book was a downer for me and I haven’t read the third yet…plan on it though, since I want to see how it all ends.

Have a great week Kimba 🙂

I was engaged at her age, and married at 21. I am exciting about the Maze Runner.

    • kimbacaffeinate

hahaha…no. I am not rushing it, but we have to plan ahead.

  3. Kristin

What a nice, slow, “lazy”, quiet week for you! Only three books? What is happening to you? Are you actually reading your TBR?? Say it isn’t so!!! 😉

Can you send some ice cream cake my way, plz??? I’m sure it’ll be fine in shipping. Tell your daughter, “happy belated birthday!” from me!!!

    Enjoy your week!!

While I am weaving in my own massive tbr pile, I am just being very selective about taking on new books with the wedding looming around the corner. I am booked solid through the end of October. *passes a slice of ice cream cake over*

  4. Laurel-Rain Snow

I am definitely not ready for year-end stuff! Christmas, etc., although the cooler weather sounds nice right about now.

Ice cream cake is fab! And your new books…wonderful! Loved Me Before You. Enjoy your week.

I know, they sent me a huge movie tie in packet and so I shall dive in!

  5. Angie

I can’t believe it’s August already. Time is flying. I have enjoyed seeing your wedding photos on instagram. So fun. I can’t believe how many books you’ve read. I thought I would read tonight but I am just catching up on comments and visiting blogs. I am so behind since my Comic Con trip and now I have family in town. I just happen to have a break tonight.

Ya glad you are enjoying them. My hubby asked if I post everything *blinks* Yes. Summer is a crazy time for getting behind, but you have been having fun. During the week I have been a day behind in commenting. I blame the weather. Have a good one Angie!

    • kimbacaffeinate

I think because I have been so busy..that at night I have wanted to nothing but put my feet up and read. As for the audio..I wear my ear-buds as I work!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Ciao Emma, we are delighted you decided to link up. I look forward to chatting about books and things with you 🙂

  6. Greg

Yeah we finally got warm this week too, with 80’s, Actually feels like summer finally! I normally like fall but I’m not ready for it this year…

    Have a good week Kimba!

Ours was a break from the 90’s, but agree it does feel like summer

  7. Tressa

Looks like another full week for you. I’ve read just about the same amount of books and it’s so crazy to me that I’ve read that many and yet feel I need to read at least twice that to get to all the books I want to read. Lol! Have a great week!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Oh sweetie, I have decided I will never in this life time keep up with my tbr pile..my family will open a library in my name when I pass..lol

  8. Whitney

165 books? Now that is impressive! I love that your daughter still has ice cream cake on her birthday. My birthday is in February and I loved it when I was younger. Have a great week!

    • kimbacaffeinate

I am excited to read it Camille. Last year I read 307..I am not sure I will meet those numbers this year.

    • kimbacaffeinate

She did, and it was fun. Her soon to be in-laws came over and we had fun.

  9. Michelle

I need to read The Maze Runner, it’s been on my shelf for years! Happy belated birthday to your daughter! Ice cream cake sounds so good right now, lol.

I was excited to get the package from them, it looks good. My plan is to read it before the movie release.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I was never really into them, since I do not have a long commute, but with my smartphone I can listen while cleaning and have come to love them.

  10. Trish

Great reading stats! You are nearly at my goal for the year (175 books) and I’m not even sure I’ll make it by year end 🙂
Me Before You is fantastic but don’t attempt to open it until you’ve stocked up on tissues. I have tears in my eyes just remembering. Such amazing characters that I’ll never ever forget.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Noted Trish. I will have tissues and truffles on stand-by!

  11. Tanja

Wow, you’ve read a lot of books in July! That’s amazing. Also that ice-cream cake sounds really good. I’m happy to see Ho-Ho-Ho back, only I never have any holiday themed books on my mind. Great post, Kim 🙂

  12. Kristin T.

I can’t believe it’s August already either…this year is flying by!!! Wow – I can’t believe you read 25 books! I got 15 in, 4 of which were audio, which I thought was pretty good! Work has been crazy busy lately, so my reading time has suffered quite a bit. I’m hoping to maybe take the last week or two of August off – just to catch up on reading and try to enjoy the last few days of summer!

I have Me Before You on my shelves – haven’t gotten to it yet, but have loved every other book I’ve read by Jojo Moyes (The Girl You Left Behind, The Last Letter From Your Lover, Silver Bay, and One Plus One).

    Have a great week!!!

  13. Rashika

HAHAHA 😛 The temperature here is in the 80s as well and we aren’t so cheerful about it.. to be honest, we’re pretty much dying of heat 😛 That’s too warm for us.

Yay for celebrating birthdays though! 😀 Birthdays are FUN!

Also that is a LOT of books read in July especially considering how busy you’ve been lately! 😀

Anyway I am definitely excited to see what you make of Make you Remember, I really liked Make You Mine and while I am not completely sold on Make You Remember, I am curious! 😀

    Happy reading, Kimba! 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

No low 80’s was below the norm here..have a great week Rashika!

    • kimbacaffeinate

I went into a department store and they had Halloween and Christmas stuff out..I fainted it…LOL

  14. A Voracious Reader

Happy Birthday to your daughter! I was married at 17, divorced at 21 and remarried at 29. 🙂 We’ve had some pretty good weather here, too. A bit rainy, but so much cooler that I won’t complain. lol Darn it! I can’t stop thinking about ice cream cake. If I can get out of my jammies today I may make a run to the Food Lion up the street. Have a wonderful week!

Wow you read a lot of books already this year! It’s been pretty warm here in the Netherlands for a couple of weeks and some days I just wish it would cool down, but other days I am enjoying the warm weather. It’s so nice to be able to wear skirts and other summer clothes.

      • Lola

Ah I always go wrong with Fahrenheit temperatures, here we have our temperature in celsius, so I assumed 80’s where really warm *facepalm* should’ve checked before commenting.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Agreed, but last year I read 307..I am not sure I will hit that mark again, but I am having fun.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Hope things are ok, and summers are just crazy. Most days I am a day behind on commenting.

  20. Rita

Didn’t know the Maze Runner is turning into a movie, like a good deal of popular books, it seems. I just realized last night when recommending a YA book to my daughter’s friend that I read The Gayle Forman one they have made into a movie a couple of years ago when I buddy-read YA with my eldest. I guess this is a good thing to have so many tie-ins. I’m hoping more teens will start a reading habit after watching these films!
Happy belated to your bride gal 🙂 I married young the first time, 2 days past my 21st, and my eldest married at 20, which is why I am a Nana to 3 kids already! I don’t have Instagram, but look forward to whatever wedding prep photos you share in other locations. Have a great week!

We’ve been lucky here in Iowa. The summer has been so mild. I had the windows open most of the day yesterday and they are open this morning as well.

I’ve had a copy of The Maze Runner for about a year. I picked it up once and just couldn’t get into it. Perhaps once the movie hype picks up, I’ll give it another shot.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Ah, you are close to me I am over the bridge in Omaha 🙂 so we have had similar weather.

  23. Katherine

165! That’s great! You’re my bookish hero. Happy birthday to your daughter! Ice cream cake is delicious. Haven’t had it in far too long. You got some interesting books this week and I’m looking forward to your review on The Hexed. I have it but haven’t picked it up yet. Have a fantastic week!

I need to get current on Katie McGarry’s books I’m so behind. My hubby has been giving me a hard time for not reading Maze Runner. I’m curious to see how you like I’ve been on the fence. It’s shocking to me I still haven’t read Heather Graham’s books yet. Looks like you had an awesome week. Thanks so much for creating such a fun post. Have a great week!
